Hi guys!
Today I tried to get the rooted desire with Android 2.2 with unrevoked 3.21
Previosly I updated to 2.29.405.2 SW
When I run the unrevoked it (desire) freezed on "waiting for root" step. Desire freezed in boot progress (white screen with HTC logo on it)
I removed battery and inserted it again. But I cant boot it, desire freezes on the same white screen with HTC logo.
I can HBOOT, but when I go to recovery menu my device goes to reboot and freez.
So it seems that unrevoked spoiled my recovery and I do not know hot to fix it.
Please guide me, the working solution will be donated $20

Radio version: 5.11.05.27.
SPL/hboot version: 0.93.0001.
product: bravo.
mid: pb9920000.
security: on.
build-mode: ship.
Device model is not SAPPHIRE - flash old/new disabled.
This device does not have s-off nor eng hboot.

Thanks!
Flash a stock RUU and try again, you can get 2.29.405.2 from my signature. Remember to use a gold card if you had to in the past
How can I flash the RUU without access to recovery?
You should flash it via fastboot.
Hold the back button and turn on your phone to enter FASTBOOT, then connect your phone to the pc with the usb cable and then run the ruu.

Did it as you said, result is the same
After the successful flash procedure thru RUU device went to reboot and freezed at the same white screen state.
Recovery is still unavailable to get into.
Now I will try to get the logged data thru Android SDK.
This thing is really mess me up =( I'm phoneless.
You, guys, are the one and only hope.
I have installed SDK, but I cant see anything in adb logcat but "waiting for device", thogh my device is conneted via fastboot usb.
Any clue?
I had that same issue, and it turns out it was a problem with the earlier version of clockworkmod (2.5.0.1) that had that issue, where freezing occurred at the HTC splash screen.
Try unrevoked again, with the 2.5.0.7 image here:
http://koush.tandtgaming.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-bravo.img
Make sure you select the image when you start unrevoked.
It might fail a few times (freezing at splash), but if it does, just pull the battery and keep trying....eventually it'll manage to go through.
Good luck =)

Latty, how can I run unrevoked with a desired image if I cant boot the phone to get it recognized by unrevoked?
you have to start the flasher without the phone being connected, then you should be able to select the image (top left of window).

yes found it, but when I connect my phone via Hboot usb or fastboot usb - unrevoked does not recognize the connected device.

Follow the unrevoked guide to install the drivers. Also uninstall HTC drivers before that.

It still is a driver issue.
Start from scratch..
Remove all HTC Drivers
Reboot
DC from internet
Connect phone in two modes-Android, Fastboot
It should get recognized but drivers shouldnt be installed and you should be prompted for driver location. If you arent prompted, get Device Manager, uninstall the driver which recognized the device.
Now install Unrevoked drivers as per guide.
Phone should be recognized..

Ok, thanks will do it now.
But one more question, should it be recognized from hboot usb mode with "Android Bootloader interface" driver, or from fastboot mode?
Cant confirm that without my phone..
But, I believe drivers would recognize it in both..And seperate drivers too..
A small tip..If you have dual boot, try Unrevoked in another OS in which you havent installed HTC. Should work

Faced with problems
1) I uninstalled HTC Drivers.
2) plugged phone and deleted Bootloader interface device then Boot Interface device.
3) rebooted
4) disconnected from internet
5) plugged and powered device and got Bootloader Interface driver installed without a single promt!!! And Boot interface as well.
So I had no chance to manually set the path to the drivers. And unrevoked still doesnt see the device =(
It turns out that I should try another OS???
PS and the key point, should it be recognized in hboot mode or unrevoked only works with booted to OS devices only?
Not really..But that's the easy way out..
Difficult to show you what exactly to delete..
Mostly these are driver clashes..When you uninstall the driver you should tick the option to delete the driver from system.
Try again and you know you've succeeded when it doesnt find any driver installed, and asks you for the location, when you can choose the unrevoked drivers..
Hm, I cant find any options prompting to delete driver from the system... But I will look into more carefully.
ADDED
Found it, trying now.
Tried, was promted to specify the path to the drivers, installed again and with no luck =( Unrevoked doesnt see the device.
I will try it tomorrow on another PC and with another OS.
Thanks for help, I really appreciate this, and I hope we will find a solution.
PS. Is this problem called USB brick?
Hello hoping someone can help, I'm a noob have not had much success in rooting yet...
Have a wildfire (Australian Telstra 3G)
Trying to downgrade firmware from HBOOT 1.01.0002 to 1.010001 so i can get s-off.
I'm following the instructions posted in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132028
I've downloaded htc drivers (and uninstalled htc sync)as per instructions
Also loaded android drivers via device manager (screen dump attatched)
I can "talk" to my SD card OK with windows explorer but i don't think I am "talking to my phone or card via adb and the command prompt"
Got the full SDK package installed.
All the obvious things.. Andrtoid debugging enabled / Charge only
So When I attempt to run Step 1 bat I get the following error message:adb server is out of date..killing..*daemon server started successfully... error device not found..(screen dump attatched)
also i tried to make a "goldcard" and extract the serial no of the sd card on the phone. . same deal.. as soon as i get into adb ....error. device not found
note i am using windows 7.
my theory is that i'm don't have a propper usb link when i go into the dos cammand prompt/adb but i have loaded the drivers. I think this is happening when i try to root other phones also (eg zte blade)
can anyone help me. be kind to me I'm a noob...I've attatched three relevant screen dumps

Thanks eventcom, but I've followed that link and numrerous others and they all follow the same theme.
here is the problem as I see it...
1/I have installed the android driver when in hboot and it works ok as per attatched image
2/ I have installed htc_sync_setup 3.2.20.exe which is the latest driver availiable from the htc website.I then uninstall HTC sync, which leaves HTC driver installer & HTC BMP USB driver remaining as installed ( as per instructions)
3/ I have uninstalled any other USB programs which might conflict including Itunes and ascociated garbage (no i didn't put it there my kids did!).
USB debugging is turned on & when i plug in USB i go charge only (as per instructions)
Here's a hint...
When I execute an adb commandwithin command prompt eg [adb devices] i get no devices. When I issue a adb copy command I get the result "device not found" I'm know i'm going nowhere on this until I can get device to properly talk via adb and this is the assistance that i am seeking
further info.
I've tried this procedure on another (winxp) machine with same results.
Ive tried this procedure on another wildfire "s" (that is already rooted) same results
I've temporarily disabled the AVG 2012 virus protection & firewall.
As well as being in the directory that the file adb.exe exists I have also installed SDK so adb appears to run in any directory (please explain ?)
If i plug in usb and go "mount sd card" I can access the sd card on the phone viawindows explorer . in my mind this tells me that I have correct usb driver working.
I've tried a different usb cable AND a different phone
before I uninstalled htc sync i tried it out. it doesn't work and the phone won't sync up to this program ( it rarely works this program, tried it on numerous pc with different htc devices and more often than not it doesn't work)
I'm hoping that someone who is experienced in adb can help me get the phone talking with my pc, keeping in mind that I've done almost everything that I can think of to get my phone to "talk: via usb cable and issue commands. If I can't get my phone to communicate via adb then there is no way I can get past step one
please help me

ok so what system are you currently running? (win7,vista,xp ect)
are you using the stock usb cable that came with the phone?
when you connect the device to the pc with usb debugging turned on do you get the usb debugging notification in your status bar on the phone?
when you plug your device into the pc with debugging enabled what does your device manager recognize it as? mine shows up as attached...
did your antivirus flag up when you were installing the skd or downloading the adb.exe?
Success with debranding but problems with Revolutionary recovery
Thank you heavy_metal_man.
I finally solved the USB driver issue. I ended up completely uninstalling HTC driver installer & HTC BMP USB driver. I then installed HTCDriver3.00.007.exe as a stand alone only. Finally I got it to recognise in device manager.
Important lesson learned. Installing the latest HTC driver off the website which is htc_sync_setup_3.2.20 (which installs 3 modules HTC Sync, HTC driver installer & HTC BMP USB driver) then uninstalling HTC sync did not work for me...I now just have HTC driver installer only.
I asked to install clockwork mod during the revolutionary process, but I suspect it didn't work
Anyway I have now succesfully debranded and "sort of" have root. my Hboot screen now looks like this...

BUZZ PVT SHIP S-OFF

Problem is when I go into recovery I get the "revolutionary CWM V4.0.1.4" Menu... So far so good.however When I select any item EG bacup & restore, intead of going to the next level menu it just goes to a revolutionary screen with no menu and just hangs. pressing the power button takes me back a level but the vol+ vol- buttons do nothing as there is no menu to select from.
So i can't flash with this current screen. the only way I can get out of it is to remove the battery as the reboot & power off menu items do not work.
.
I have tried re-running the revolutionary Exe file again. It prompts me if i would liketo install CWM and I say yes . It says it's done and takes me into Fastboot USB where I can reboot. but CWM ( The wierd revolutionary model) DOES not work like the CWM that i am accustomed to...
So i STILL can't flash CM7...but I'm getting closer...

That's ok , power is meant to do that, its the back button you need to use the trackball to select stuff also if I remember correctly that recovery has an issue where it will not charge the phone when it is turned off, so I would update that asap I shall give you a link when I'm out of bed, but for the mean time, backup, wipe everything and install cm7+ gapps
ok here is the most up tp date cwm recovery for the buzz as far as i know. and here is the thread it came from something to note, when you jump up tp gingerbread the type of recovery changes as well, so, the new one will not flash sense roms unless the rom has been designed for the new edify type recovery. not sure how many support this though. also the new recovery will NOT flash radios. it does not play well with others but you can always downgrade your recovery temporarily if you need to, or use the rom manager app (which ic an app interface for the recovery) to flash what you need

Success I now have CM 7.2.0- buzz. I also installed google apps ok.
I guess I shouldv'e read the instructions on flashing a bit closer. I've also got a wildfire "s" as well and it uses the power button to enter so I suppose I just assumed...Truth is that I've only just got this phone last week and I didn't even realise that it had a trackball button ...
This is my first ever root/flash that I have done and I have learned alot from the experience. I specifically got this phone ($10 on ebay) so I coul;d learn to do this without the risk of damaging my own phone. This phone had "issues" when I bought it which is why i got it so cheap. now I have upgraded to CM7 it the issues (eg wireless hotspot would not remain on) have gone.
Soon I hope to have the experience and courage to flash my own phone and my kids phones.
Thanks to H_M_M and all of the XDA forum for helping me out.

Hey guys,
I tried to root my DHD, but it didn't go as as smooth as I expected and at the moment my DHD won't boot anymore.
First I would like to say I read the manual carefully several times, and I searched for a answer, I found some related problems but they were so different to my problem that I couldn't find any answers in it.
First I ran the AAHK, chose for a downgrade and then I got something like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1822347
Except, I got stuck at the HBOOT menu, and nothing happened. When I rebooted my phone, it worked just fine, but it wasn't downgraded.
I tried to repeat this proces a couple of times, but it didn't help.
But then, suddenly, it did work to start downgrading, but in the end it gave an error:
************* Downgrade failed *************
** Either:
** GoldCtixiard/SDCard failed
** USB connections are not working 100%
************* Downgrade failed *************
After my DHD rebooted, and after the HTC screen, it showed red exclamation mark/triangle. It is still like this, and my phone won't boot, but i'm still able to get in HBOOT.
It is somewhat like this, but I know i haven't downgraded.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134318
Some help would be greatly appriciated!
P.S.
I really tried to figure it out myself first, but after searching, reading and searching, I found no good answer. If anyone finds this annoying or offensive in any way, im sorry.
I think your sdcard is corrupted as a goldcard. Try a new one.
I checked the SD card. It reads and writes fine on Mac and PC.
The biggest problem is that i can't connect my DHD (in HBOOT) to AAHK using Mac. AAHK says ''Error detecting HTC phone on USB conncetion''
I also tried factory reset in HBOOT, but it didn't help.
Anyone got an idea?

For the connection, try a Linux LiveCD; I don't know anything about Macs. For the sdcard, whether it is corrupted for use as a goldcard does not affect whether you can access the data on it.
I'm not an expert, but aren't OSX and Ubuntu quite similar, regarding the environment? Nonetheless, I am going to try the Ubuntu LiveCD tomorrow!
Is there another solution so that i'm at least able to boot the phone normally?
Thanks for the help so far.

So you mean I should follow these instructions?

That is the stock recovery. You have on screen instructions that you are apparently not following. That will flash a RUU but first use tacoroot to achive temp root. All that is describe in the Hack Kit session on screen. You won't be able to flash a ruu from hboot unless there's a ruu for your phone and your main version and CID match.
The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind.....
At the moment i don't have any on screen instructions, because I cant connect my phone to my PC/Mac. AAHK says ''Error detecting HTC phone on USB conncetion''.
I'm trying to find a solution so that i can at least boot my phone again. I know I am new to this, but i'm trying to do my best..
So i cant connect to AAHK, what is the best way to fix this problem?

What is your main version and cid number??
Boot the phone in fastboot usb and then plug it to the pc (you will see fastboot usb in red). Then, in the pc open a cmd as admin and type:
Code:
fastboot getvar all
Paste here the INFOcidnum and INFOmain data. DO NOT PASTE your IMEI here.

I did just like you said. When I connect to the pc, fastboot usb is in red. I opened cmd as admin, typed, but nothing happened.
I get ( this is translated from Dutch ) :
"fastboot is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."
When I plugged it in, my pc gave a message about a device being plugged in, but nothing happened after that.
I saved everything that happened in the terminal, when I attempted to root. Would that be of any help?

Do you have adb and fastboot installed? run the hack Kit once and let it install adb and fastboot.
I downloaded the Android SDK, wich I saw includes adb and fastboot
I typed fastboot getvar all, and then the cmd screen says waiting for device...
When I tried this before ( when I hadn't downloaded the android sdk ) nothing at all happened. So something must have changed for the better..
In the AAHK i still get ''phone not plugged in'''( windows )
However, when I boot the phone ( volume down + power ), after a few seconds it says:
PD89DIAG.ZIP
Loading...
No Image!
PD89IMG.ZIP
Loading
No Image! ( Or wrong image .. )
After that it returns to the standard menu..

Hack kit won't work from fastboot. Or your driver is not correctly installed or you have issues with USB connectivity. Uninstall the driver from control panel and then re install it with the device unplugged. Once it is installed, plug, the phone and let it install properly

Is there a way to fix this? Will it fix anything to do a factory reset using a stock rom? ( just guessing )

Yes that might be helpful. If your main was lowered and you have temp root, that will take just a while to fix it. Otherwise will not be that easy. Do you mind If I have a look at it over teamviewer?
I think my main was lowered ( or ot least changed ), but i dont think i dont have temproot. In HBOOT it still displays S-ON.
I will PM you the data concerning the rooting session.

ok. Do that please.

Hi guys,
So I wanted to flash a new rom on my Gnex (GT-i9250). I've done this countless of times, including my old Desire and Sensation, but that doesn't stop me from being an idiot, apparently.
This time I wanted to wipe my phone clean of all data, so I wiped everything.
Everything.
I don't have access to CWM, all I have is a broken bugdroid screen. All I can reach is that. No ADB, no working ROM, only bugdroid.
I have tried to use fastboot to flash it, but that only happened once, my pc did recognize the phone and fastboot listed it as a device, but it refused to comply with any <fastboot flash> commands. I thought this might've been a driver issue with my Windows 7x64, so I decided to look into that. I am not a complete tool when it comes to installing and uninstalling drivers, but I must have done something horribly wrong, because now all that happens when I plug my Gnex to my PC is that the bugdroid screen will freeze, and refuse input from Pbut+VolUp+VolDow, and I have to pull the battery. The device will install "Successfully" as "unknown device". I cannot update it's drivers.
Is it dead? Break it to me gently or give me some high hopes.
As a note I am now on a completely fresh Windows 7x64 and it did the same thing. "Unknown device" bugdroid screen freezes until battery is pulled.
If you can get into fast boot it's not bricked yet. Are you typing the command line in right? You could always try the toolkit to flash recovery or revert to stock. It's easier than hunting down everything individually.

Good to know it isn't wholly bricked - and I am sure I use the commands correctly =)
However when I plug the device to the PC the bootloader screen freezes and becomes unresponsive to input from the power and volume buttons.
I suspect this is what causes the device to become "Unknown device". Subsequently every time I connect it to my PC it freezes. If I boot it up without USB connection it remains responsive.
It also doesn't show up when using <fastboot devices> I assume is because the device is frozen in some manner.

Use a different USB port and get the drivers right.
Read the drivers part, i believe you know the commands, if not read the flashing part too.
The first problem I am running in to (regardless of USB port) is that whenever I plug my device to the USB the bootloader freezes, and then windows triumphantly cheers that it successfully installed an Unknown Device.
It freezes the second it is plugged in.
Here's some additional information:
Fastboot mode - No boot or recovery IMG
Product name - tuna
Variant maguro.
Bootloader version - PrimeKK15
Lock state - unlocked.

Check your usb port (on the device) for damage; Connect device to the back usb ports of your motherboard;
Reinstall Windows/Install Linux.
If none of the above work/have worked, (and dont use it just because you dont want to try the other stuff i suggested), try omapflash.

I just plugged in my old HTC Desire, worked fine, and now I can find my Gnex with fastboot again!
Unfortunately when I attempt to use any flash commands it reponds:
sending 'bootloader' (2308 KB)...
FAILED (data transfer failure (Unknown error))
finished. total time: 0.014s)
Except for the system.img, that one says exceeds buffer size.
Anyone ideas got any bright ideas?
Update: Just tried with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus ToolKit V10, same error is reported. Unknown.
Update # 2: Yup, that does seem to be the issue now. Failed data transfer. Unknown error.

1. Delete the toolkit.
2. Make sure you're using a rear USB port on your computer. Front ports typically work on a hub-based system and can be somewhat flakey for phone flashing. I've had front ports work a few times and then not work other times. It's strange.
3. If you are using a rear USB port, do you have another cable to try?
1. Already done. I merely tried it out hoping it had some magic trick, it didn't. It only ran the same commands that I had been using.
2. Check, I noticed this when I was taking my old Sensation into the rootz.
3. No, I don't. I suppose it could the cable although it does appear to be in good shape, but I'll see if I can get my hands on one tomorrow.
Your only bet is to find a friend that is willing to lent you his computer for awhile, then do your flashing business over there.
I noticed your bootloader version is outdated too.
Maybe being dim but can't understand why everybody is blaming computer.... probably cos I'm full of drugs (of the prescription variety) for big big bronchitis as the French doctor described it...
Can you boot it into download mode? If so try install through there using Odin plus .pit file and repartition as well

Oops. Sorry about that, Thought I did put it in Q&A.
Hi,
I recently changed my broken screen and now my phone is stuck in a bootloop. I want to try and flash ROMs but cant because the PC does not recognize the device. I've tried manual installation of drivers in device manager but it said that it cannot find the driver, even though i chose the HTC drivers folder in HTC Sync. So yeah i've tried putting 0P6G(whatever) on the SD card and it doesn't want to install it.
Device details:
Software statusfficial
Locked
m8_ul pvt ship s-on
hboot-3.19.0.0000
radio-1.29.214500021.12g
openDSP-v51.2.2-00593-M8974_FO.1015
OS-6.12.401.4
i downloaded the HTC RUU.exe file and copied and renamed the zip file to 0P6G... and tried HBOOT and it didn't work. i've tried looking for the European version with the same radio number but i cant find a working link. Now i want to try flashing but cant, because my PC doesn't recognize the device. And also i tried factory reset and wiping and all that **** it didn't work. I didn't have any CWM or TWRP installed and USB debugging was off.
I have a very basic picture of how this works i'm not a developer and this is why i need your help. I'ts kind of new territory for me.
I'm using Windows 7.
Please help and tell me if you need anymore info i think i gave you everything.(if i didn't, it probably shows the level of noob that i am)
Thank you for your replies!!
Zip name should be 0P6BIMG.zip if you have to use microsd method to install RUU.zip
Here you can get the correct RUU.zip -

So i tried the SD card method with the file you sent me, it updated in bootloader, but when the phone rebooted it got stuck on starting apps... I tried the same method but in recovery the phone wrote
E:footer is wrong
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Still no sign of the drivers working. Windows stills sees the phone as an unknown device.

Just having HTC Sync installed should have installed the drivers.
Is the phone in bootloader-fastboot mode, when connected to PC?
Does the phone show up in Device Manager? Even if just as an unknown Android phone, or something to that effect?

Yes it shows up in DM as an unknown device and yes i had HTC sync installed. I can access bootloader and fastboot but fastboot doesnt say fastboot-usb. I also clicked ram dump through USB and the computer reacted like a device was unplugged and plugged back in, but it still remains as an unknown device. Ive even tried installing the drivers manually but windows rejects the ones that are in the HTC sync install foldeer

I don't know if there is any different in it saying fastboot versus fastboot-usb or not. Try opening a command prompt (within same directory as fastboot.exe) and do fastboot devices, and see if your device ID is returned. If so, do fastboot getvar all, and post the result (delete IMEI and serial number before posting).
I've never used the ram dump option. Don't think it will do anything helpful in the current condition.

So
-Downloaded SDK tools,
- installed the tools,
- opened a cmd window in platform-tools,
- typed fastboot getvar.
- also fastboot devices.
nothing the getvar was stuck at waiting for device.
Device status in DM under unknown device:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
(i dont know if this helps)

Try right clicking the device under Device Manager. Select the option to update drivers software, if available. Then pick the option to look for the driver (forget what it says exactly) then pick the option to select the driver manually. Pick the option "Android MTP device" or something to that effect. Then after the driver is installed, see if the fastboot commands work.
