[Q] Datavolume - Windows Phone 7 General

Hey guys,
im not sure if im in the right forum after i found nothing by using the searchfuction.
i got a simple Question: at the moment im using a X10 with a data flat which t-mobile told me is not supportet with android/Ios phones. my contract running out soon and im thinking of gettin a new Samsung omnia7 or Mozart an of course i have to take a dataflat with the new contract. wich offers me 300MB highspeed and after that i get lowered on 65Kb/sek.so my Question is:
is 300 Mb enough for average using? facebook litle surfing and so on ? and how slow is 65kb/s with a win7phone really?
any sugestions?
thanks all

65KB/s? That's more than I get most of the time on with my phone. 300Mb is fine if you keep to downloading apps and the like connected to a PC or using WiFi. I'd say it only really becomes an issue if you're tethering, streaming music or downloading a lot of apps using the data connection.
That said, I might well be a lighter user than you, or I could be underestimating my own usage.

As long as you do not stream a lot of videos/music on data, turn off all feedback uploading apps and options, and download your apps only when you are on wifi, then for regular surfing, 300MB is quite enough. I survive on 500MB per month, and usually have about 50MB left at the end of the month.

Why would you make *this* your first post on the XDA forums? Seriously, you created a *NEW* thread just to ask a question that nobody here would really know the answer to? A question that has already been asked a hundred times!
Please, for the love of all that is good and right in this world, think before you post. Search before you post. And count to ten and ask yourself, "Is this the right forum to ask this question?" before you post.

lmfao!!!!
according to the timeline that was leaked we should get it at the end of this month.
It could be a month, it could be 2 or it could be several. Just be happy you have a phone that works. It will be out when its out. if you want it so soon learn to do it your self and do it your self.
Wow I swear everyone thinks there a mod. It would be nice if someone just answered his question. Not everyone is on the computer day and night researching the **** out of there phone. I am really starting to hate these forums.

Agreed. So one could do one of two things.
1) google: mytouch slide 3g android 2.2 release date, obtain answer.
2) locate android development forum, create a new account, confirm account, write message asking question, wait 6 hours, obtain answer.
But to be fair he asked when we think the slide will get it and not if we had any real information... so... July 27th at 2:45PM EDT.
Really?
What a waste of a thread wheres the moderator when you need em
Why does it take them so long to release an update? When new windows come out for millions of different pc's they have it working in days if it doesn't already work out the box. Here we have something smaller than even nlited windows xp,and it takes them months. Is it that hard to write drivers for these phones or they just taking they sweet time?If its that hard why not make it simple, make a program for android like nlite that slipstreams drivers and we good to go,is there a reason for all this compexity?
One more quistion does bios on these phones ever gets updates?

Main differences is, with PCs, the hardware is modular, and it is left up to the individual hardware components manufacturer's to make sure everything is up to date. The phone is an all in one. Add on top of that, the Sense UI that allows you to basically change the entire look and feel of the OS. So the core updates have to take all the variances in hardware into consideration.

Why one word comes to mind TROll. Someone said 10 min I guess I missed that update Now I have to wait till "July 27th at 2:45PM EDT".
is all that really necessary? we have a rom, yes it needs work, but now we can let the flaming die and do some work. if someone asks a question that seems obvious, just dont respond. eventually they will either find the answer on their own, or they will give up. its annoying to watch this forum for updates and information when half the posts are to flame someone. someone wants to mention wasting threads, recover the thread and make it useful.
now that there is a rom to work with, does anyone want to work on making it usable while the experienced devs build something with some polish?
Sufficient number of threads on this topic already; closed.

No, Windows is closed source so making it work is difficult and probably illegal too.

Windows 7 is x86 if not x64 architecture and will not run on ARM based Systems.
And since its closed source nobody will bother.
So its not gonna happen.
If you like closed source buy Apple
More to the point, if you want windows mobile, buy an HD2.
And how about using the search button? This gets asked EVERY week.
Always someone moans about using the search button ... if you know the answer don't read the thread.
Ofcourse I don't want a HD2 otherwise my signature would say sent from hd2 all I wanted to.know is whether anyone would be able to get 7 to.run on the desire regardless of who likes it or what platform its meant for

That is indeed the most silly quesition u could come up with..
Are u one of the boys who want to brag around saying their phone is like the best, because its an android phone but it can also run other devices OS meaning u got like 2 or 3 phones in one??
I mean thats pretty lame. Go buy an HD2 and run android on it, or flash a rom stuffed with galaxy S wallpapers and themes and stuff.
You bought a desire.. thats like the ultimate gadget out there.. and ur still not happy with it? Go ask ur mommy and daddy to break the piggy bank, and post a thread saying "i'll pay 1500€ per developer, who will join the team in making win7 flashable on desire"
that should answer your "silly" question about IF and WHEN as well as WHO.
Sry but posts like this just piss me off.. WHY would you want a regular interior of VW Golf 1,9 TDI in a freaking Ferrari???
Thats what u wanna have with asking for win7 on a desire!

Ofcourse we freakin' moan. We frequent XDA visitors see the same question posted over and over again by people who don't search.
If you had searched, you would also know the answer, just like those who read the rules when they sign up for XDA-Dev forums.
In the top of this very forum there is a simple thread called "Forum & Marketplace Rules".
And the first rule, to rule all the rest is:
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.

As are these sorts of posts moaning about search buttons. Ironic eh?
there are 2 main points that make this thread pointless!!!
1) porting windows mobile is not possible on an android phone!
2) (and the most important) even if it was possible, windows mobile isnt open source, none of us own a licence for windows phone 7, that would make it piracy and therefore illegal
Hold on a min folks!!
CountryMous3 asked a simple question wherther you think it stupid or not.
All you folk need to say is yes or no-go! There is absolutely no need to get all hotted up about someone asking what you feel is a stupid question.
Yes remind them of the search function, but hey were you born with the knowledge you now have??
@Daelyn
Are you suggesting the mods are not doing their job to your satisfaction? If the mods you talk about are to deal with noobs as harshly as you believe they should for failing to observe correct forum etiquette, then how much more should you and those who have treated a noobie as if they were a moron, be altogehter FORCEFULLY EJECTED from the site..knowledge and all! Y'all should know better!! It takes so-called 'stupid ' questions from a brave heart to carve new parts in uncharted territory!
Chew on that then flame me too if you must but you know you're all being unsavoury.

Secondly, the XDA site's been as fast as ever for me. Your slowness issue might be ads, but it could also be a plethora of other causes. Here are two…
Your Internet might be unstable or having issues;
Your devices might have bugs or too much memory;

no biggie bro it all good. this just came out of the blue and i googled the xda slow down so i figured maybe they watch this thread. they dont have a report issue page separate from when the website goes down.
Yup, same slow loading times here too. I'm on a 30mbps connection on my computer, and it takes around 10 seconds to load a single page. It's the same thing on my phone, which is on LTE. It's understandable if it's a capacity issue, with all the Lollipop activity going on now, but it's making things really hard to pull off now, like effective communication with other devs during development.

Wifi spoofer for Hox

Hi all.
Recently returned to xda from the ios scene....almost sorry I did. Had been a long time member of xda since 2003 aka Mackaby007, but got fed up of the lack of support from manufacturers and developers alike.
To the point now,
I'm on a fast unlimited data plan and would like to know if there is a way of spoofing apps into believing that I'm on WiFi (especially as the market store frequently requires this for large downloads)?
On a jailbroken iPhone, one could purchase an app called 3G Unrestrictor that did exactly this. Anything like it available for Androids or specifically the Hox? Any help is greatly appreciate
If you don't know what I'm talking about and just wish to question why I would want this, please don't bother. I need help or a viable workaround, not baseless opinions without understanding. Thanks.
Damn!! Posted this in the wrong section. Could a moderator please move this to the appropriate Q&A section? Many thanks & apologies.
If you are on an unlimited data plan then why does it matter? This thread makes no sense.

Er, the OP clearly mentioned that it was for the purposes of downloading large apps from the Market which specify Wifi-download only.
i've downloaded a few of the huge games recently (95+mb) that says wifi only, but i don't have wifi...
you just have to click on the pop-up menu that you agree that it's being downloaded using your data allowance and not wifi

I am stuck and need an opinion from Sprint owners.

I have the option to buy this phone on AT&T and start a new line of service or buy it on Sprint and continue service. I am wondering if the double storage and 13Mp camera really make it worth staying with Sprint. I was hoping to hear from you Sprint owners. I hear the JB will make the cameras on both devices really great and I do want it as my secondary camera for partying. I live in a LTE city for both companies and the only real difference in service will be slower LTE speeds on Sprint.

Really depends if you need an SD. I don't. And you won't either living in an LTE area. And also, cases are easier to find for this phone
If you have LTE in your area like I do, than it's a no brainer. Sure At&t is faster but that comes with a price. I personally like and use my unlimited data and wouldn't trade it for the world.
ATT vs Sprint.
ATT, in most places has faster 3g/FauxG. Downside is data is expensive if your a heavy user.
Sprint, slower if there's no LTE in your area but you don't start getting nasty email/phonecalls to you exceed 30GB in an month three months in a row.(I get these all the time but "Employee Unlimited" covers my butt).
ATT LGOG vs Sprint LGOG. Storage is the key difference. 16GB+what ever size card you want vs 32GB and only 32GB. (No I don't count cloud storage, "Deserted Island" rules in force here)

I love the 13 MP camera especially since they have a mod to make it better. The storage kind of sucks because I have 12GB of music and 4GB of Pics plus different mod and backups. I only have 3G but still beat having limited data on a more expensive carrier.

LOL, sorry everyone. I actually clicked on the wrong tab in Firefox, I had both the Development forum and the Q&A forum open and posted in the wrong one. I was reading through multiple forums at the time and actually posted a similar question in the AT&T LG Optimus G Q&A forum as well. I just made a mistake, LOL. I am looking at my monitor laughing at myself right now too. i do know the main difference between the two phones it was basically a "what is your opinion" question.

Are you planning on getting a case for the phone? I ask because the notification light for the AT&T version is the power button and in a case you won't be able to see it. Something else to think about with your deciding.
I say the lower prices and unlimited data are worth staying. Especially since you're LTE covered. The onboard space is sufficient. Plus upload all your music to Google music and stream it over LTE it will play seamless and you can save space on your phone for photos and apps and such. My opinion...
