i cannot find anything on removing the startup Tmobile MyTouch white splash screen. Can someone point out a thread I missed or point me in the right direction.
PS. What I really would like is to watch the linux load process... is that possible?
this has been addressed before... until we get "full" root (r/w access) a.k.a. S-OFF we can't get rid of that screen, all we can do is change the boot animation/sound
OK will watch for S-Off on the slide
OK I did see that S-OFF is coming soon from nbetcher's post:
S-OFF for T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide -> UPDATED 10/15
Thank you for your reply //MT

Hi guys,
I have tried every method of unlocking my mytouch 3g, read every wiki, every post, and i cannot flash sappimg.nbh on it. Is there any other option? Or am i essentially screwed?
I read somewhere that if you have the perfect SPL on your phone, you cant root it. Is this true? At the fast boot screen, it reads
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0006 (SAPP30000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.19.261

Help! I really want to get root access...I've been trying for 2 weeks and nothing seems to work.
I really hope someone actually takes the time to look at this, before bypassing the post as a (scrub/noob post)...
I seem to be stuck on the "boot loop" of the HTC green logo. I tried doing the perm-root option in Visionary r12 and have been here ever since.
A few things:
- I can get into the HBOOT
- I have done a factory reset from bootloader
- I have done a reset from fastboot
- I attempted to do the flash of PC10IMG, but received the "main version is older"
- I can't change version because ADB won't connect for some reason, maybe because i'm in HBOOT?
I can't seem to get ADB to recognize my device, but when I did a factory reset from the bootloader, ADB did finally show the device, but it said "offline"
I'd be happy if I could get this G2 functioning, root or no root.
Anyone have any ideas what I can do to fix this?
thanks!
I also need to add that I did a FACTORY RESET from HBOOT and let it sit for about 2 hours, didn't move off the HTC green logo screen.
If anyone out there can get me up and running i'd gladly pay them $25 for their trouble!!

is your g2 showing s-on or s-off at the HBOOT screen?
It has S-ON
So am I screwed? Is there no way to get this back up? I don't think I ever had S-OFF, when I rebooted from Visionary r12, it stuck right on the HTC boot, so I didn't so anything else. When I went to HBOOT, I think it said "S-ON" then and has always said "S-ON"....
Probably screwed. Seems like you did exactly what you werent supposed to do, as posted in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=838484

I have this exact problem EXCEPT MINES S-OFF.....any tips?
edit** fixed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9330530#post9330530
Im having the same problem. after perm root attempt I get stuck at the htc screen unless i pull the battery. I am able to get into h-boot and fast boot but have no clue what to do from there. everything I research assumes that i have other stuff installed here such as third party recovery or hex editor. I wasn't attempting to change Roms or anything like that until I felt a little more comfortable but now im stuck.
Flashing the pc10img was not a good move. Happened to me back in september. I was one of the first to get the g2. Fortunately I was s-on also. That is good in the fact you can return it and get a new one like I did. The second time around I read..read and then I read. Then rooted without a problem. Tell tmo the phone just got stuck and they will give you one for free. Always read the entire thread and links on those threads. I found out the hard way also. There has been stories of that being fixed though. Good luck bro

so confusing trying to understand every term .. ive been reading alot of the tuts on root and un rooting on here and other forums but still cant really get a good understanding .. i tried to flash a boot screen which i did successfully but cant get rid of the sprint 4g clip .. probably going to try to flash a rom next but im going to wait on that and read up on it more first .. just trying to get an understanding if im full or half rooted and what rom i am on .. sorry if its been answer and im sure it has be .. but my search came to no answer for me at all .. thanks in adv
S-off indicates you're rooted.
What you changed is the splash screen [image when phone comes on]. To get rid of the sprint 4G animation, you need to flash a boot animation. A bunch can be found in the themes and apps section, a good thread is sticked at the top of the page.
You are indeed rooted. Just remember, before you start making any changes to your phone always, always(did I say always?) make a nandroid backup in case something goes wrong or you don't like the change. It will allow you to return to a previous stable state.

Is it possible to change the splash screen on an unrooted Evo 4G? I found a Steelers one my gf would love, but she won't root her phone. Thank you for any advice.
your best bet would be to try this application: Android Flasher, but it still might need to be rooted. You can try and see what happens.
i have used it very successfully, but i do have a rooted evo 4g.

to change the splash screen it requires being NAND unlocked(s-off) no other way to change it without s-off
Thanks for the info.
