On the iphone, they have the feature where it shows the caller's location. Is there a way that the G2 can do that? With an app maybe. Thanks in advance. I already searched google and couldn't find anthing.

There is an app in the market that does this. I had it on my MyTouch 3G. I think it used the area code and first three digits of the phone number to tell you where they were from. I'll see if I can find it. I think it was called caller location, or something like that.
There is something called "WorldCallPlaceandTime" that seems to do this.
Thank you. It works good

I'm reading good things about Vlingo as an in-car utility. Also read that it's Spring specific and supposedly available in the app market. I'm not seeing it, which I assume either means it got pulled or that rooted and rom'd devices can't see it.
Anyone have any direction to offer?
It is in the market. I just checked. Do a search and you should find two Vlingo apps.

I just went into the market and click the Sprint tab at the top right and there it was as the very first item. I am rooted and am using OMJ's ROM.

Can you post it for those of us who don't have Sprint?
isn't it pretty much the same as google voice actions? except the google product doesn't have an option to update facebook.

Got it, thanks! Not sure why it wasn't showing up earlier.
Actually...now that I think about it, I may have searched the first time using App Brain and the second using Market.
In any event, thanks.
Can someone please pull the actual .apk ?
Thanks
Is there a way or an app that displays the current CPU Mhz on the notification bar? (Kind of like SetCPU but on the notification bar, instead of within the app).
Looking one for just testing. Don't want any of those swiss-army-knife apps that include a million things though.
Display CPU frequency (and maybe option of displaying percentage instead) should be the only feature.
Search market for temp+CPU pro. There's an option to put a selected state on your status bar.

Thanks, the market has really been bogged down with keywords and meta tags and such.
Even with filters it's hard to find what your looking for lol.
Yeah it seems like you need to put in the exact app name for it to show up correctly. Kind of strange that the search function could use improvement in the Google android market..

I thought that i was the only one trying to find things. Just recently i was trying to find Shoot me in the market but forgot the actual name of it, took forever with keywords. Didn't come right up with screenshot, screen grabber, root screen, etc...

Ironic to say the least lol
This works great for most ROMs.

I had a GPS app way back on my hero that I would love to have again. I can't remember what it's called though and Ive searched for it for quite some time using all kinds of key words here and on Google.
Anyway. The app allows you to look up the street through the camera on your phone and it will show the locations of restaurants, gas stations, pool halls, whatever. All on the screen. Does anyone know what it is called if it even exists anymore?
I hope I put this question in the proper place. If not, please move it to the right place. Thanks for the help guys.
I believe it's called wikitude world browser. Hope I helped.

Not exactly the same app but it's darn close. Thanks so much I_FLY_Z3R0.
Perhaps you're referring to Layar.

That's probably the one, great app, I use to show that off to the iPhone users.
I really don't even know how to search for this because the only device I know of that I could compare the functionality I want is the iPod Touch. I moved to Verizon a while back and got the Galaxy Nexus. What I would like to do with my Epic is remove all of the phone functions and leave it as a WiFi capable device similar to the iPod Touch so that my son can use it to watch videos and play games. I keep airplane mode turned on, but I keep getting some notification about voicemail not working and I would prefer it to not be able to accidentally dial 911 since Sprint is required to allow that call if the phone tries to send it.
Are there any ROM's that do this, or is it easy to remove the necessary files? I currently have ACE2.0 flashed, and I love it, but I will switch if I need to.
Didn't someone just post this exact same thing? Delete dialeractivity.apk and there will be no dialer.

Sorry, I didn't see any threads that I thought were the same question. Does that take care of the voicemail notification too?
I found this when looking for something similar for a used Fascinate.
I haven't tried it yet, but intend to when I get some time in a couple weeks...
Looking at the package it deletes several apks and installs a "radiooptions" binary that gets run via script at boot-up.

I searched the web and read the manual, but could not find an answer.
All I am looking for is the way to automatically switch ringtone to "vibrate only" when I am in the office, and back to my regular ringtone elsewhere, based either on GPS location data, or the tower I am connected to. Is there an app for that?
Thanks!
I believe "Tasker" in the Play Store I'd what you are looking for.

I will try Llama. Isn't there one of Samsung functions or apps for that?
Thanks Raven,
I also found Llama, will give it a try:

I was under impression that Samsung provides this functionality built-in?

you're under the wrong impression then..
tasker is what you want
Let me know how tasker works on your device because it seems like a GREAT app but the reviews aren't too impressing.

Its a good app but its confusing to a lot of people so they leave bad reviews. The ui isnt as user friendly as the ios equivalent Activator
