Has anyone been having issues with certain applications accessing the SD card since the perma-root?
- I couldn't restore my home screens from Launcher-pro due to an SD card error.
- In the stock messaging app the phone comes with, when I try to attach an audio clip I recorded myself, it says "unable to access SD card"
kinda off topic, but I also can't seem to get quadrant to go past 11/12 on the CPU part of the benchmark. It freezes.
Any input would be gladly appreciated.
nvm people.
I just ended doing a recovery since I did the permanent root and wanted a fresh start and everything works fine!
Thank You developers for the perma root!

Does anyone have the problem where the phone is able to read and write to the SD card, but then all of the sudden, it's not able to?
I have an intermittent problem that happens at least once a day where the phone suddenly is unable to read the card. When I start up the camera app, it says that it has insufficient permissions to write to the card. When this happens, I am not able to play music from the card or view pictures/videos from the card.
Once I reset the phone, it is able to read and write to the card again... I have tried the 'SD card mounting' fix in the development forum, but it did not solve the issue.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
I've got a rooted stock froyo 2.2 odexed. i've tried the stock kernel, netarchy's kernel, and kingklick's kernel with all the same problem...
One thing I did do is backed up my apps with my backup pro, installed froyo, and restored some of the apps... now when i go into appbrain, it shows updates downloading, but they never progress... handcent, shazam....
Thanks in advance...
Hey people, I'm experiencing some problem with moving Apps to my SD card.
I'm quite a lazy bump and writing this topic probably takes more time than redownloading all of my stuff But I'm stubborn and I want to know how this works.
The reason I want to move stuff to my SD card is the fact I ****ed some stuff up and I want to install a stock rom
I was installing the new system update via this GUIDE, thanks fly out to hamdir
Unfortunately, something went wrong (check it out here), because I had preinstalled apps removed, and by-passing the problem it caused didn't work out well...
So now I want to install a stock rom so the preinstalled stuff will be there again, and I will be able to update it properly.
------------------------
So, the actual question.
Because I want to have all my applications on my SD card anyway, I started moving it through Manage Applications.
For some applications (apps I surely installed myself), I cant select the ''Move to SD" option, while if they already were on my SD card it would say Move to phone - which it doesnt.
Any idea on why I can't? I maked sure they werent running
Because some apps don't work properly if you run them from t the sd card. You'd be better off looking at an app called titanium backup for what you are trying to do.

To use titaniumbackup I will need root acces which I mysteriously lost (check the link I gave, hope someone could still assist me there a little..!)
It would seem weird to me that compatability with the SD card is the issue because some of my simple games I can't move either.
For example: Armored Strike. Is there anyone who has this on his phone that wants to check if he is able to move it to SD card?
Thanks
I recently flashed the bonsai4all 3.0 EB13 rom from the stock DI18, and from the getgo I noticed issues with the camera.
More specifically, any time I loaded the camera application, it would proceed to "unexpectedly" force close on me and simply exit to the launcher again. I thought this may have been a problem with just the camera, however winamp proceeded to crash whenever reading my music from the sd card as well.
Thinking it may have been a problem with the rom installation, I cleared all data/cache, and proceeded to reflash the bonsai rom. The camera+winamp actually worked for a short time before relapsing into the behavior above.
I know this is SD card related because whenever I dismount/remove the sd card everything works fine, however as soon as the card becomes available the apps crash whenever accessing.
Has anyone else had this issue? Any help will be most appreciated!
UPDATE: Just attempted ROM Manager's "Fix Permissions" batch, no impact. Going to try a reformat next.
Backup and reformat SD card. Probably got corrupted. Let us know if it works for u.

I've seen this problem described elsewhere, but haven't been able to identify any sort of solution. Forgive me if I've overlooked something obvious.
I have an Epic 4G that I rooted with CW quite some time ago. I flashed a few various ROMS before settling on Midnight ROM 5.2 (EC05), which the developer says is based on the Bonsai ROM. My SD card at the time was the stock Class 2 Samsung. I use an app called "Move2SD Enabler," which sets the default installation path to the SD card whenever possible, and a second app called "App2SD Pro" that helped me easily keep track of where things ended up, and prevented me from accidentally installing widgets to the card.
One evening, I played around in the Market and downloaded several various and assorted apps - significantly more than I would usually download. None were likely to affect the actual system in anyway (mostly games and utilities - that sort of thing). A few days later the phone locked up and I pulled the battery. When it restarted, none of the SD card apps were available in the app drawer, and any shortcuts on my home screens were replaced with generic icons that displayed "could not launch the requested activity" when tapped.
All the contents of the SD card were viewable within My Files and when connected to the PC by USB cable or by inserting the card. I tried several things, including running a chkdsk on the card while it was in the PC, but was never able to recover the use of the apps.
Eventually, I replaced the card with a new Class 10 and reflashed, upgrading to Midnight 5.5 BYOR (also Bonsai based). I installed many, many apps (approaching, if not exceeding 100 installed to the card). Within a few day, I rebooted the phone only to have the same problem repeat itself. No crash this time - just no SD apps after a phone reboot.
So I tried it again. This time I ODIN'd back to stock, then rooted with Bonsai Masterkey (as per the developer's recommendation) and flashed the ROM again. And again, within days, I lost access to the applications on the card. The files are all there, but it's as if Android can't enumerate them.
So... again I ODIN's back to stock and rooted with Masterkey. This time I flashed Bonsai 4.1.3. I spent a few days installing apps (rebooting now and again as a test). The number of apps installed to the SD card was 127. The phone froze up, and I pulled the battery. And...
Once again, all the apps are gone. They're there on the card, but not on display in the app drawer.
So... three ROMS, two SD cards, journaling on, journaling off, sometimes after a crash, sometimes after a reboot - all SD based apps simply disappear.
What gives? Is this a known issue with Bonsai-based ROMS? Does the Android O/S limit the number of apps that can be stored on the card? Some mysterious issue with EXT4? With the EC05 kernal?
Is there some way to force the OS to re-examine the SD card? Some way of restoring the missing links?
One last note, in case it may be of use. While the first problem occured with whatever the default partition is on the SD card, the subsequent installs were done after manually partitioning the card using either CW or Masterkey. I set the ext partition to 4096MB, and set the swap size to 256MB. Is that in any way relevant to my problem?
Thanks, in advance, for your input.
I was doing some additional research on the mysterious disappearing app syndrome, when I stumbled across a couple of different articles in which it was stated that Android Froyo has an installation limitation of 123 apps on an SD card.
One (http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...d-app-limited-123-but-im-running-2-3-3-a.html) even shows a screenshot of Titanium Backup complaining about the issue (the actual article is unrelated to my problem, but...)
Another (http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/samsung-galaxy-tab/11230-app-limit.html) shows a reply down the page indicating that "There is a limit of 123 apps that can be moved onto SD Card, found that out the other day...... something about the limitations of Froyo"
Neither of these (nor the other articles I found) were from anything close to an "official" source. So, I'm asking: Is it true? Is there a limitation to the number of apps that can be installed on an SD card in Froyo? If so, that might explain my trouble when my own installations reach beyond the 123 app limit.
And my followup question: If it IS true, do the limitations still exist in Gingerbread?
For what it's worth...
Having reduced the number of apps on the SD card to 120 (less than the alleged limit of 123 apps mentioned above) appears to have completely eliminated my problem. No more disappearing apps (knock on wood).
I would still very much like to know, officially, if there really is such a limitation, and whether the limitation exists in Gingerbread as well. But for now, I thought I'd post my apparent success, on the off chance that it might help someone else struggling with the same problem.
Thank you.
I am having trouble with the SD card in my HTC Incredible.
A few hours ago I started getting all of these "force close" messages popping up on my phone saying processes were not responding. I then realized that all of the apps that were on my SD card were no long accessible. (none of the apps would open, their icons were blank, etc)
However, when I plug my phone into a PC and set is as a disk drive, I can still browse to the removable disk and see everything. (the data is still there?)
My phone has been very slow since this all started happening.
Things I've tried:
rebooting phone
removing/re-inserting SD card
unmounting/remounting SD card
clearing cache+dalvik cache in clockwork recovery
mounting card as disk drive and running error check in Windows
copying all data off, reformatting card, and replacing data
my phone is rooted
Unfortunately I do not have access to another SD card to try in my phone..
Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas for me?
Any input is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Tyler
Cards probably fine. Sounds like the ROM is flaky with all the FC's. Try reflashing the same ROM without a wipe and if that does not help reflash with a full wipe.
Going to agree with Nils on this one too. I started getting a lot of FC and SD card stuff right before I changed from the leaked 2.3.4 Incredible. I reflashed everything and didn't experience anymore for the week and half I stayed stock.
Have sense changed ROMS, but Nils suggestion worked indirectly for me.
With all due respect to NilsP because you're most def the f-ing man and know more about all of this realm than I ever will, I must disagree however. I had a similar problem with an sdcard I bought off of ebay (kingston 32gb), I got 2 of them for about 50 bucks (I should have known that it was too good of a deal). Apps would disappear, but the data was there. I formatted the card, everything would work fine for a couple weeks and then it would take a crap again. If this sounds familiar then that may be your problem
