Hi everyone,
I've got a HTC Mozart and I just wondered if any other models have a message in the authors field in the EXIF data from photos taken.
It has "Hello from Seattle"
Just like the original Zune packaging had that same hidden message.
to be honest i'm not sure what you mean.
Exact this same on my Omnia7.
Anybody know how we can change it??
to The Gate Keeper:
every photo you take got this message in author field

Sync a photo to a PC, right click and view properties and look at the author field.
As i recall, Photoshop (CS3, etc) strips this out automatically. If you do a "Save for Web & Devices" Photoshop strips the EXIF data.
It would be good to stop it for good, rather than needing Photoshop.

If you are using Windows 7 (I think Vista can do it as well) then you can remove it using Explorer. Just select it in the image properties and delete it.
That's great, however there should be a way on the phone eventually to change the author field for each photo and not have to edit it later.

I am wondering if anyone has figured out how to tag people in pictures from your WP7 device before uploading to Facebook.
AND...How to upload video to Facebook from phone from album.
Thanks
Can't upload video yet, well by default. I am unsure if an app exists to help with this. Currently I have to use Zune on the PC to work with my videos.
Tagging, not sure, seems like that is a browser enhanced feature that would use silverlight, flash or js that the newest internet explorer doesn't seem to recognize.
Pretty sure you can just tap the image you are uploading to tag it. I did it on accident and I think that was how. It might have been within the actual Facebook app. Idk

That didnt work...Cant figure it out but will keep trying.
Tagging is done by either long pressing or double tapping, can't remember but I've done it before, too lazy to try now.
Make sure you're doing it in the dialogue just before actually uploading the pic, the one where you name it and such.

Tagging can be done using the fb app for the Wp7. Tap and hold for about 3 seconds on the face that u wanted to tag, then ur fb friends list would pop out. This of course is applicable to photos which have already been uploaded.

It also has a weird behavior... From my experience you need to tap for three seconds, and then let go for the name list to show itself... I thought it should have popped up regardless...

Didnt work on the focus.
Also, no go with the other recommended method.
I was able to tag photos (really hadn't tried before).
1. open the facebook app
2. click on the photo you want to tag (already has to be uploaded to facebook)
3. In the photo view, long press on the picture, you should see the bottom menu drop off, then your contacts pop up and you can click who you want to tag it to.
Hi everybody,
I just bought an HTC One X two days ago, which is a wonderfull device, but I have an issue ...
I'm syncing my contacts/mail/calendar with an Exchange server (I don't think it is related, but I prefer to tell), which downloads the contact pictures correctly. But they are of low resolution and poor quality. I go to edit the contact, I browse the gallery to 700x700 picture, choose it, and save the contact, but picture quality remains unchanged ... As if it was downsizing it and lot of jpeg artefacts on compression ...
Do you have the same issue and do you have some solutions ?
Thanks !
Hello, i have the same issue here.
Photo from contact are pixelated and have really bad quality.
It looks like the thumbnail has been upscaled ...
And i have no solution.
There is an app called friendcaster that will sort it
This app is called "Friendcaster for Facebook", but my problem has nothing to do with Facebook, in fact I don't want to use facebook at all ...
I just want to put highres pictures on my Exchange contacts, not more ...
Try haxsync from market and see if it solves ur problem....

This is still a facebook app ...
I´ve created a folder in DCIM, called it contact pics and transfered all my contact pics to there. After this i´ve reworked the contact informations, that they take the pics out of this folder. Now i have always clean and sharp pics. They weren´t synced btw. changed by Google. Titanium backup restores this path after installing a new rom.

How did you do that ? I don't find this in the contacts parameters, where do you tell it the folder where it should search for the contacts pics ?
(I'm actually thinking this could be related to the 256x256 contacts picture size hardcoded in android ...)

It is. Whenever your contacts sync with Google they are resized and synced back to your device.

Exactly, I'm syncing with Exchange, and I suspect Exchange uses even a poorer resolution ...
I remember on my HD2, the picture quality from Exchange was poor, but I just had to set a higher resolution picture on the contact on the phone and it remained ok. Seems Android doesn't manage this correctly ...
I'm actually searching a way to root my One X without loosing data (The HTC Dev way tells me every personnal data on the phone will be lost), I read somewhere there could be a way to change this 256 pixels limitation when rooted, am I right ?

I´ve choosed rework in contacts, then click on the little upper photo and choose albums and the file in the created folder on my sd card. After this i had always clean & sharp contact pics.
So what you're saying here is that you copy all the pictures to the phone memory, then go into each contact manually and assign a picture? I really can't be bothered doing this for 130+ contacts, and not be able to sync it with e.g. Outlook to keep a backup.
It there would be an app to do this automatically, given the photo file name is the same as the contact name - that would be useful indeed.
Looking for a solution also. Maybe contacts.apk need to be modified to change picture resolution for contacts.
the solution is in Google's hands which doesn't seem to give a **** for YEARS now.
latest thread on the saga is here:
https://plus.google.com/u/0/109941711245243963357/posts/YBMTuysqm3B
they eventually gave up after some indians working for Google teased everyone with a solution, they shut up for the next 5 months...typical.
it's ****ing pathetic, everyone should flood Rubin's and all executives accounts with this issue.
long story short: ICS supports 256x256 contacts image size (up from 96x96) but Google Mail doesn't.
that's why our contact pictures once sync-ed with Gmail look like ****. Even the iPhone is affected by this....if you sync it with Google Mail.
they don't consider it a top priority, otherwise it would've been fixed like this:

funny how Punit Soni's G+ account changed some time ago to "worked for Google"

I´ve done this one time and sync always with google without loosing the sharpened pics. After flashing a new rom i restore the contacts data (not the app) with Titanium; no problems since then.

I have the same problem on my HTC One XL which I just bought in Hong Kong. Images of all my contacts in the contacts list look fuzzy and blurry. I am not using Google or Facebook Sync either. I also noticed that all other pictures taken with this phone look good initially on screen but once one zooms in the shi* hits the fan!

One thing I'm have an issue with is multiple contacts for one person on the GS3. I've tried combining the contacts and it works to a point. Here's what I like to do:
1. Combine my contacts and have them use the Facebook photo for the contact. How do I change it so it doesn't default to a pic I had setup as the Google contact?
2. Why do contacts keep getting so distorted after a wipe and reinstall?
3. How do I get the contact pics top take up the entire pic area when in call instead a small pic?
4. Is there a faster way to combine contacts?
Thanks for the help

First I think there's a rule about bumping your own threads within a certain timeframe... so might want to watch that
As to the questions:
1) When your in a contact, press MENU, then "Mark as Default", this will let you choose the default picture, call number,etc... if you're facebook account is linked to this contact that will be one of the pictures at the top. (Now if the pic's aren't being pulled from facebook, that's a whole other issue, and you'll need a 3rd party app to do that it seems)
2) Distorted?? What do you mean exactly? Pictures lowering resolution? or something else.
3)When I'm in a call the picture takes up the top half of the screen.. which is the pic area... are you saying some of your pics do NOT take up that entire half space? Or that you want the pic to take up the entire SCREEN? If it's the former, my guess is it has to do with your picture resolution... try using bigger pictures? (Mine are approx 452x604 resolution , originally used on my Evo 4G).
4) Faster.. nope Clicky Clicky Clicky. I did mine during an episode of America's got Talent. Also be warned, the stock ROM has a limit of combining 5 contacts as a maximum. Custom ROMs can override this, and if you're rooted, there is a file you can edit yourself to increase the amount you can join (No flashing needed, just one text file edit, the feature.xml file in system/etc)

1. Set as default worked great!
2. Pics have a really low resolution. Not sire if it has something to do with pics being possible restored from a back up or something??
3. I usually have to go in an reassign the pics in order for them to be larger. Again I think this has to do with them coming from a backup pic associated with the contact.
4. Yeah, I know. I'm gonna edit the XML file now.
Higher Resolution Pics
The resolution of the Facebook Contact pics suck. Anyway to bring the pics in a higher resolution?

First of all I can't seem to find how to insert a picture from my clipboard on here right now... so that's the first question. How do I attach something from my clipboard on the xda app? Second, when I use my spen to draw around something to add it to my clipboard I don't see the option. I can share it with scrapbook and many other apps but how do I just send it directly to my clipboard and then be able to share something from my clipboard on here?

The clipboard's really more for traditional "cut/copy/paste," not for managing content. That's why you'll never see clipboard as a share to or from option. Most of the stuff you clip using S Pen ends up in the Gallery. For example, a screen capture pops up a menu at the top after it's captured. If you select the "check" in the upper right corner it's automatically sent to the Gallery. You can also select "share" and you'll be given a list of places and apps it can be sent. Clipboard's great if you're amassing content by category but it's not great as a means for storing a single clip of something with the intent of sending it somewhere else.

If you pick the share option and send it somewhere you can discard what you've created without saving it. Whether you realize it or not every time you copy something while the keyboard's active it's accumulating in your clipboard. If you check it and have never emptied it I'll bet you have dozens of historical clips you've made in it. The default is pretty much "save" across the board when you're creating something unless there's a cancel or discard option presented.

Yeah, usually the gallery app itself will integrate with edit features...Is it because of lolipop??

On my LG-H815, firmware V10a-EUR-XX in stock gallery there is edit icon, when pressed it opens photo editor, similar to Snapseed
My T-Mobile variant default gallery app has edit function. Open up a particular pic you want to edit and has a pencil with line underneath.
But I prefer google photos to manage my pics.

That pencil IS Google photo. (only when there are other image editor apps installed it will ask what to do).
Incase this is coming up for anybody, I've had this happen on both my G4 phones (one was lost and I had to replace after a year). If this happens to you, you will have to do a factory reset, as others have stated. But there is a way (as of right now 08/20/16), to actually have both work on your phone. When setting up your phone, with email info and google address and such, but make sure you do not enter into the area that states you want google photos with "great" enhancements (which it shouldn't go that far yet). Exit if possible.
- First and foremost (before customizing or adding any apps to your phone), make sure to get into your camera take a photo and click the gallery or the photo that shows up in the circle and click the edit tool. This will prompt you to download the "stock" editor (thru LG G4 phone). Download (first time only). Try out the editor make sure it works.
-Then take another photo, click on the round photo you just took. If you entered an address in the google setup (but not the google photos) you should be able to pick which app to use. You can chose the Google photo app, BUT IT'S VERY IMPORTANT, to click "just once" and NOT "always", just incase it tries to change your editor again. It should allow you to use the stock LG G4 editor and still store it within the google photos "cloud" as well.
- I always choose which editor every time, I never choose a default "always", since I use other online apps and I want to have those options given to me as well. It's important to NOT update the Google photo/editor if it asks, otherwise it will try and give you the "enhanced" photo edits.....which I can say the editing tool for LG G4 blows the Google editor out of the water. Hope this helps.
