Hi,
i have a prop my provider had change my xperia due to 4 cracks in a half year against the Touch pro 2. The action needs 4 weeks in between i bought the touch pro and get lucky with it. I had decide to put the rhodium on ebay when it comes.
Now i have the device 3 days and i can't decide anymore which of the Phones get back
The Pro is smaller and better to handle but the Pro 2 looks and feels much more better for quality reasons.
When i hold the Raphael in my Hands it feels loose and the back cover makes noises.
Is here anybody with both devices and can give his Experience with the quality of both devices
Thanks a lot and sorry for my bad english
I have both phones. Hand down for the TP2 for these reasons.
1) Better build quality. No wobbly screen what so ever. (At least on mine.)
2) Just an over all build quality of the whole device itself. (Accept battery cover)
3) The screen is enormous compared to TP1.
4) Keyboard on the Rhoduim is the best I have ever used on any handheld device.
5) TF3dD is much more responsive and no lagging what so ever.
6) The Rhoduim just is much more faster, more responsive and quicker on every aspect of the device.
7) Very finger friendly. You don't need to use the stylus like you do on the TP1. I only use it when using file explorer.
I could keep going on, but I just wanted to list some of the most noticeable differences from the two. In conclusion the Touch Pro 2 looks a whole lot better and feels a whole lot better. When you hold the Rhoduim in your hands you can feel it is very well made. I am very pleased with my purchase. Hope this helps.
I also have one Touch Pro and one Touch Pro2, and i choose Touch Pro2 without any doubt, or you might regret it someday.
RE
Thanks for your feedback, i'm a little bit in sorrow with the chrom frame at the xperia it starts flaking and becomes cracks.
And the hole device was creaking after short time.

About the chrome sides. It looks and feels like it won't be a problem, but I could be wrong. I installed the Zagg full body protector which covers the chrome, at least 90% of it. So maybe this will help with any chrome flaking that may occur.
I've the Touch Pro and sold it off for the Touch Pro 2. Am not regretting it at all... I totally forgotten about me owned a Touch Pro before, until you posted the topic about it... It's like driven a BMW before and now a Ferrari That's the feeling of having the Touch Pro 2.
I would keep the Touch Pro 2. The build quality on the Touch Pro in my experiences is not up to par with other HTC devices. My original FUZE (AT&T Touch Pro) DPAD went bad. The capacitive sensors just stop working correctly which makes it impossible to use any buttons except up and down. My replacement (refurb) is developing this same issue.

Same here; my dog ate the TP1. Waited for the TP2 to be available and no regrets for waiting and having to use a Touch Dual for a couple of months...

Thanks again for the nice post the TP1 is already on Ebay.

Perhaphs you want to post also in marketplace!

It's absolutely sickening, i have the Device 7 Days and saw here the thread wobbly screen, what should i say, mines too 4 to 6 mm in each position
i talk with HTC and they tell me bring it back it's a faulty device.
Now is the fu...... Pro 2 on the Way to o2.
The whole Handy manufactures produced **** for a lot of money and we all are so stupid and buy it
Just wanted to say thanks!
This helped me in my decision to go after the Rhodium after all (even though I like the design of the Raphael much more).
Hi I am asking for help.
I go through alots of phones.
in last six month. I had iPhone 3gs to vibrant to g2 to nexus one to mytouch 4g and back to vibrant.
When I had g2 I sold of right away because of the hinge making screen wobbled even with keyboard closed. Kinda wish kept the g2 instead of getting nexus one.
Anyways I have a offer of like brand new g2 if I add cash 50 on top of my vibrant.
My vibrant is a month old and I'm inculding everything plus + otterbox and another case I got.
Should I do it?
How is the hinge holding up? Does it get loose even more?
I don't care about loose hinge but i really don't like screen wobbling around.
I heard you can replace the spring and make it sturdier. Is it hard to do it?
If this offended anyone in anyway I'm sorry.
feeling generous? buy me some redbulls by clicking donate button!
Been using a g2 from a mt4g for over a month now and loving it. I like the mt4g for its ram and screen but overall I prefer the Hardware keyboard more than the larger screen.

Mytouch 4g screen is a lottery. Half of the units comes with washes out screen. Took me 5 exchange to get a new one then I just ended up selling it and getting the vibrant again.. but I miss the feel of hardware on HTC.
This will be my last Samsung phone unless its nexus s.

g2
id get the g2 or hold out cuz theres some pretty badass phones coming out in the second quarter, had it a few months now and couldnt be happier only thing it truely lacks is a front facing camera but standing in front of a mirrior will do the trick if you really rely on vid calls! hope this helps
Did the hinge fix myself, after you get over voiding your warranty physically it's not so bad
have had my g2 for almost 6 months and the hinge is holding up great. never a problem with it and the phone still feels as solid as ever. it's one amazing device =)
Traded my vibrant with a messed up g2.. lots of scratches. Bought an oem backdoor from ebay and springs..
Feels great in hand I love it

I'm also a 6mo G2 user. Love it! Hinge has never given me trouble. I wish the keyboard wasn't there (swype FTW!), but the rest of the phone more than makes up for it =)
Since I think this is the largest phone for sale at least in the US and it appears we are creeping up in size I ask "how big would be too big"? I think I saw some reference somewhere that there is a 5 inch phone. Would a 5 inch phone be too big? How about 6 inches?
I have jokingly put Galaxy Tab 10 inch up to my ear but it isn't inconceivable that phone functionality could be incorporated into a tablet. The radios are already a part of the data connected tablets. I use a BT headset and have for many years so using a large device as a phone wouldn't take getting used to. Some people still like sticking a phone up to their ear but could you or would you use a large device as a phone?
I suppose the question would then become how small a tablet would be considered too small.
I think this should print out at close to a 6 inch phone.
The Epic 4G touch is actually slightly (very slightly) smaller than the Infuse 4G.
I think 4.5 inch screen without any borders on the sides is the absolutely perfect dimension. That's what I see the being the most popular in the future to come. 4.5 inch screen flush with the side of the phone. The ET4g touch gets close.
This is as big as a phone should get. Actually, I prefer the size of the EVO 3D, if only it were as thin and light as the SGS2 it would be the perfect form factor.
I love big screen phones. Maybe 5 inch Max as long as the whole front was screen.
The Evo3D Killer!!!
Isn't the dell streak a 5in screen in the us

When the OG Droid came out, I thought 3.7 was enormous and I laughed at the pitiful Iphone users stuck with 3.5. When the 4.0 and 4.3 inch phones started to roll out, I opted for the Fascinate since I thought 4.0 was just right and 4.3 would feel too monstrous. Now with the GS2, 4.5 feels ideal. I'll probably keep thinking that until a slew of 5 inch phones start hitting the market and I'll adjust.

It's funny.. I had the my touch 4g which was 3.7, I was happy to get a 4 inch screen on the g2x. I thought 4 was perfect perfect side and that 4.3 would be a little too big for me But when I got the sensation I thought 4.3 was perfect, then I had/have the evo 3d so when I heard the E4GT was 4.52 I thought again, "that's too big for me.. 4.3 is perfect" Then I held a E4GT and fell in love. It really wasn't as monstrous as I imagined it would be. I mean if you think about it .22 inches bigger isn't all that much
I think this is about as big as I would want my phone to be, but I can't helping thinking if it were heavier I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much.
I think we will hit a limit at 4.5-5inches as far as phones people are willing to hold up to their ear.
We may see sales of tablets larger than that will phone functionality built in but thsoe that use them will only do so with bluetooth headsets.
The Galaxy Note does look pretty nice and at 5.3 inches gets close to 6 inches. It is small enough to fit in a shirt pocket or jacket breast pocket. Not quite as big as a tablet. I like the idea of a stylus having spent 6 years with Treos.
I use a bt headset. But I couldn't imagine carrying a 10.1 holster around on my pants when I take the dog for a walk...
And no... it's not fitting in my pocket either...
Thoughts: Please don't read the above in the wrong way. I just reread and... nvm
Anything above 5 is beyond pushing it. I'm not even sure if I wanted a 4.52 phone...
I think E4GT is as big as I would want a phone too. I almost think it's a little too big, but then again, I thought that about my EVO 4G before but got used to it.
3 years ago it would have been 3.7"
2 years ago it would have been 4"
Last year it would have been 4.3"
This year is 4.5" and soon 4.65"
Next year is the Samsung Note at 5.3"
The coming generation of edge-to-edge displays will allow them to get at 5.5" display into a case the size of our Epic 4G Touch.
So why is Apple about to release another phone that is less than 4" if no one wants them so little?

You beat me to it..
This is the biggest i'll go phone wise, or so i'm telling myself that....now.
The Nintendo DSi is equipped with a built-in stylus which makes it possible to play games and interact with the 3.25 inch screen in a way not possible just using fingers and is accepted as a normal. However, when a stylus is added to a smart phone it is regarded as a backward step. Perhaps this attitude will change if the stylus becomes more common on smart phones.
did you see the new Galaxy Notes
it brought back the stylus
^^^ yep. The reason styluses were big a while back was 2 fold. 1) the touch screens were resistive touch technology and could utilize a stylus in the first place and 2) the physical screen sizes and software of yesterday didn't allow you to be able to use your fingers to do everything. Typing on a 3 inch screen running Winmo 6.5 wasn't exactly easy as pie.
Not sure how the Note is incorporating the stylus into their capacitive technology, but I've seen it in action and it's pretty cool.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
Not sure about now, but I'm pretty sure that the DS still uses a resistive touch screen. May not be true now, but in my past experiences, I remember it being kinda hard to use your finger on the DS - you really had to tap it.
The Note uses a stylus as a drawing tool and to take notes, use swype, etc. Looks pretty bad*ss if you ask me. I love the size of the screen. (lol)
EDIT: With the screen sizes manufactures are shelling out now, using a stylus will probably be more difficult and time consuming than just using your finger. Think about it. Moving a 2 cm point across a 5" screen doesn't sound ideal.
DS is resistive. I think stylus' are going to be out soon, with capacitative. Who hasn't lost a stylus before anyway. lol
Stylus are out for the devices, I currently have 2. I purchased mine in Canada... which means they are likely available in etheopia at this point....
My first one I found was in with IPad accessories, my second was with the display of tablets at Staples as well as best buy it was a full sized capacitive for 29$. The first was a stubby one for 12$ cdn. I've had them for 3 months.
Hope this helps

Nobody in their right minds would want to return to the days where you scraped a cheap bit of plastic across your screen!

Many people want a fine-tipped stylus to increase the usefulness of their smart phone. There are plenty of smart phones without a stylus to choose from without being patronizing towards those who want one.
I dont mind stylyses they have their uses, especially for note pad type apps. To bad I loose them all the time.
Stylus is good to use with smartphones, because sometimes fingers are too big to operate on the screen. But the weakness of stylus is that it's too easy to be lost. And it's not so convenient to use on the go. If manufactures can find a way to fix this problem, I think it would be more popular.
Now that we have this super phone with this great 5.5 inch screen, are we now limiting ourselves to phones that are over sized like this one? Will smaller screen phones now be over looked by us?

Not overlooked. It will be more like the Burger King dwarf effect. I knew going into the Note this would be a problem. Honestly, I love the size and would hate to use something smaller. A couple of inches maybe but anything more than that and I will need a tablet.

not really sure how i'd actually be limiting myself by not purchasing something i don't want. getting a smaller screen under the 4.5-5.5" range would be a compromise.
Once you go Big, you never go back:
I used an Evo for the last two years and now that I have the Note, Its going to be hard going back to anything that small. a friend at work still has an EVO and I was showing him something on it, the other day and I could not stand how small the screen looked. I wondered how in the world was I able to do anything on such a small screen.

Likewise, I had Evo for 2yrs before upgrading to S3, and after 3months, i just got the Note 2 yesterday. Even the S3 feels small now lol.
I work for sprint and was drooling over the S3 for months, but the Note II was finally what got me to switch over from ATT. Putting it side by side with the S3 just makes the S3 look tiny. Putting it next to a iPhone 4S makes me lol. Now that I've watched a few videos on it I can't say I'd ever by a device with a smaller screen again...
4.0 screens will always be liked. Not everyone likes to walk around with a tablet as a phone. Even myself use my Nexus when in bed laying down. But love this phone as my daily phone.

I'm ready for a 6..
I'll say it now, the longer you go with a bigger screen the harder it gets to go back.
For a tv and monitor I use a projector with a 120" screen for about a year and a half now. I now uncontrollably scoff at puny tv screens. My brother has a 50" plasma, I scoffed at it and told him to get such trifle out my presence.
Having a bigger screen really gives one a complex.

You must go through bulbs on that projector like butter. I'd love to do convert to projector, but basement setup does not allow.
Yeah I agree about the screen size. I gave my wife my S3 and now when I mess with it the display just seems so small... That is crazy since just 3 months ago I upgraded from my epic that was an upgrade from a pre...Crazy stuff. I probably will only get phones in the phablet style from here on.

I'm still on my original bulb. close to 3000 hrs on it, standard usage is spec'd at 3000hrs and eco mode is spec'd 4000hrs. my current bulb is getting a tad weak I know I'm due here for a new one pretty soon.
also you dont need much room for a set up. a 10ft throw distance and about a 7ft vertical clearance will get you 100" screen.
I dont want to thread jack any more than I have, if you got any questions shoot my a pm. I'd be glad to help out.
I'd still go back to a 4.3" slider if it had an HD screen and removable battery. I hate on screen typing.
