hi with all the leaks of the new mobiles that are to be released which one is going to be the best 1 to get thats gonna keeps me going for at least 2 years.
With WP7, the specs are all standardized. The options are pretty much personal decisions..
How much storage do you want?
Do you value a physical keyboard?
Which do you think looks the best?
How big of a screen do you want?
What models will work on your carrier (this will probably limit you the most)?
Noone can answer those questions for you. The things that would affect longevity (CPU, RAM) are all standard on WP7 so really won't differ much if at all.

go with hTC Hd3~ haha
question is when is the hd3 gonna be released? One things for sure i dont want a small screen nothing less than 3.8 but would prefer 4 and above
I looking for more of a Touch Pro3 type device. Although I would love to see a 4"+ screen with a slide out keyboard.
I'll probably end up with a Samsung whenever I decide to switch. I don't know what it is, but I always ended up with a Samsung in my pocket for the last 4-5 years now.
I went from the Samsung i630 -> i760 -> Omnia II (i920)
Probably has to do more with Verizon being my provider than any affinity I have for Samsung.
what I'm wondering, .I'm from the netherlands, and also wantto buy it in october, but the dutch version won't be there then yet. So, can I also buy the english version here, or do I need to export it?
cheers

According to pdadb.net the HTC Mondrian/Schubert /Mozart's predecessor model is the HD2, so basically, this will be the HD3.
pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2388&c=htc_mondrian__schubert__mozart
But to answer your question, RustyGrom couldn't have said it any better, but the best thing to do right now is not to get into any contracts until at least November, I just canceled Sprint and now have and HD2 with T-Mob, contract less...
I must say all those leaked devices recently look very bad.
Besides Dell Lightning.

I liked the square Asus was it...there was something else square that looked nice...was it another Samsung maybe? But it's weird...that samsung taylor prototype look has grown on me, lol. But I can't wait to see reviews instead of leaks.
PDADB?
Is there another site that organizes the upcoming models better?
Well, as always Sprint is last to get a phone. The only positive is lately Sprint has the best looking and performing phones out (Evo and Epic). I hope this trend continues and Sprint drops a real monster this winter.
There is a decent round up here...

now we know the models that are being released which is gonna be best, now im more prone to the hd7 or the omnia 7 manly being screen size not sure which yet. So which would you pick and why?
I'm partial to the Samsungs with the S-AMOLED screens. WP7, even more than other OSes, looks great on a AMOLED screen.

ditto - plus SD card support as well if that pans out.
From people who have had hands-on sessions and the lucky few who have received their review units already, I've been hearing Mozart and Omnia are the nicest. The general consensus seems to be that the HD7 doesn't feel quite right, too big, too shiny and WP7 somehow feels better on the smaller screens.
The Trophy seems to be winning a lot of praise too, though I think that's on the presumption that it will be quite a bit cheaper than the Mozart.
Yeah the Mozart is a very nice looking device. My only concern is no SAMOLED. I agree with the above post about WP7 looking best with an AMOLED screen. However, I'm not too sure I want a phone with Samsung's build quality. Decisions.. decisions..
The LG phones actually look good in the reviews Ive seen which is a bit of a shocker as Ive never like LG for phones that much in the past...
Well... I prefer the HD7... it just looks like THE WP7 device... it just stands out, that gorgeous 4.3 inch screen? that beautiful camera(2 LED!), the stand! the other devices are small and weak... the Dell one just looks ugly(I thought it looked like the BlackBerry Style)
Still, speed is no issue with any of them...
Is it worth it to get a WP7 device at this moment in time? Are there any new phones I should be looking at? I don't want to get the DVP then feel like an android user when a new better phone comes out next week.
If it is worth it to buy a WP7 device right now, then tell me, is this a good deal? My samsung vibrant for a venue pro plus 100 bucks on my end. I see the vibrant go used on craigslist/ebay for 300 bucks, and he wants me to put 100 also, so couldn't I just sell my phone and then I would have 400 bucks, 50 dollars more and I have a brand new Venue Pro. So tell me, is this a good deal or not?
Also, I found out that my TMobile account doesn't have a contract (I didn't set it up, parents did). Should I jump ship to AT&T for their WP7 devices? Thanks!

You see them listed on CL for 300, they typically go between 180 and 230 before they sell in most cases. A brand new one can usually be whittled down to 250. Also, what is the memory on the DVP? If it's 16 gigs then those are 500. There's factors that come into play but it's near impossible to sell a vibrant on Craigslist for 300... They're pretty much last gen now...
I was saying 300 bucks on CL and ebay because that's what the guy I am dealing with is telling me. Rather have him think they go for 300$ and have me pay 100$ then have him think they go for 180$ and have me pay 320$, right? haha.

Definitely agreed. Yeah though, it's a great deal. The DVP is a definite upgrade and is currently the best of all the WP7 line-up.
Great thanks!
Should I wait until the new Dell WP7 phone 'Wrigley' that is supposed to come out in mid april? The only different thing I see on it is the 8mp camera, the leaked timeline didnt specify any other differences.

Meh, I'm getting both personally. You can wait but being stuck with a vibrant for however long (and dell is known for product delays) is pretty much self-mutilation.

Before you buy the Venue Pro or any other Dell WP7 device take a look at the Dell Venue Pro forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=799. The device is not problem free and if you get one of the flaky devices you will be tearing your hair out. If your device runs fine you will be on cloud 9. For most of us current users, we are somewhere in between. I wouldnt use any other current WP7 device, but just FYI.

Thanks for that information. This is a really hard decision since WP7 is fairly new.
Take the plunge. Honestly also it doesn't look like any new super phones are coming out anytime soon so you shouldn't be worried about your phone becoming outdated relatively soon.
Oh and the DVP is one sexy device, when it works. Like others said, be aware of its problems. Also on jumping ship to AT&T, I don't think I would. I have their flagship WP7 device, the Samsung Focus, and it drives me crazy as a phone. Feels really cheap which does not mix with my gadget perfection OCD, heck if you press hard enough on it on certain parts of the phone you can hear the plastic creak!
So I say join us in the WP7 pool, the waters just fine.
I currently have a MT4G with tmobile (and I like the phone...)...but I have wanted a WP7 phone since they came out, but I cannot justify spending 300$ on one .... so I was thinking 'should I get an HD2 and put WP7 on it?' but then I felt that it would be buggy and such and I would like a smooth wp7 experience...
so my question is, what options are there for me (I cannot use an upgrade, I am stuck with tmobile so I need one compatible with them [I guess, right?])...?
Thanks for your advice and help...

You are better off staying with a real WP7 device. The HD2, as good a device as it is, can't provide the whole WP7 experience permanently. You'll have to perjure yourself to get a key from MS to use the main features of WP7. And then, after each update...if the updates actually start coming...you'll have to do it all over again and likely MS will nullify the ability to use their keys.
If you start buying apps with a fake WP7, you might lose them later on. Buy an HD7 from T-Mobile or go to AT&T and snag a Focus. You won't regret it once the updates start happening...if ever. WP7 is a super smooth, super clean experience.

You can try other stores besides the retail store to see if their flexiable with the upgrade period. Wirefly, Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Radio Shack, Etc.
You could ask for the factory unlock from T-Mobile. Unlock the MT4G, sell it on Craiglist and use the money to buy the HD7.
You can also go on a payment plan with them and give them $15 bucks a month until you have the money to pay for a new phone.
I'm doing that right now with my HD7, but only because I have the sneaking suspicion some new phones are going to come out to blow the current crop out of the water.

Which is exactly why I'm saving money for one of them. These current gen phones will be "Kin'd" before too long and the good hardware will move it.

Sell your MT4g on ebay and buy the HD7 there also. Even a used MT4g is only a little cheaper than a new HD7. A lot of people are willing to trade on craigslist also.
I really don't know why you guys complain that much. In Brazil I just bought a WP7 (unsupported here yet). And I paid R$ 1.400,00. That is something about U$ 850,00.
My iPhone 4 I've paid R$ 1.800,00. Or U$ 1.125,00.
And yes, If i were you, I would buy a WP7 in a blink.

Well you have to understand, there ARE differences in economy so over here we have different options on pricing....doesn't mean that just because it costs wayy more in other locations that we should be buying them like crazy over here.... we have to think about things like that (at least I do, especially since I am not rich [yet ])...
So I am thinking of possibly getting a samsung focus (but the 3g would not work with tmobile...right?)...or the HD7... but like 'likki' said, phones are continuously upgrading so saving 15-20$ extra a month sounds pretty practical because by the time it is saved up I may not even want to get another phone (haha) or there will be better options out there....
Have you ever tried out a HD7? I think it is too big. The Trophy 7 have a perfect size screen. Not too big, nor too small.
Maybe you should try. I wouldn't buy a Samsung because of the update issues (yeah, they may have fixed, still, it was the only one with problem. I wouldn't risk).
Don't worry about the next season of WP7 handsets. Probably they don't need anything beyond our 1 GHz processor. Not for now. And I think this should last for 2 years of software updates until they need to update the hardware too.
I don't know about US 3G network. But, at least here, my Trophy works with every carrier.
And I liked the "yet" hahahah. That's the spirit! Hell yeah!
any advice? should I get an htc surround and be happy with Edge on tmobile or something? (since it may be cheaper than an HD7 ? idk)
Try ebay...
I got my HTC Surround for 180.00
It looks brand new although it had no box and not original charger. Thing works like a champ. My contract actually is up for renewal in May but i decided not to wait as i could resell it if i did not like it. I'm definately not reselling it. It's awesome!
LG Quantums all over Ebay for 180-200 dollars and they're in my opinion the third best US released device
Dell Venue Pro>Focus>Quantum
I want to like HTC's devices but their battery life is just terrible and the Surround feels like a gag phone.
Surround is pretty terrible all around. If you like big screens and you're on T-Mobile, then you have one really good choice and one decent choice.
TBQH, WP7 is so Cloud dependent that I would not want to be stuck on Edge all the time.
I can't even fathom what that experience would be like.
Edge is for Blackberries, Eseries, and Feature phones...
Ok so I have the opportunity to get the dvp or hd7 for the same price...which one should I get ? The dvp doesnt seem to have as much action in the forum ...it has less ram and no htc apps , plus its a lil bulkier....the screen size doesnt bug me becauase they are similar...
Any ideas please

The DVP's screen is much better. The Speakers are better. The Camera is worse. It has a Physical keybaord (quite a nice one). It sitll has 512 RAM which is more than good enough. It comes in a 16 GB variant and if you're feeling Giddy you can upgrade the storage becasue it has an accessible SD Card Slot.
It tends to have better performance than the HTC phones, as well. The build quality is noticeably better.
There is no such thing as a BB Bold 9800, BTW (that's the Torch). Which Blackberry are you actually selling, asd is it a T-Mobile Branded BB?
Personally, if I was faced with that choice, I'd get the Dell.

DVP over HD7 any day... When you hold both of them you can just tell which one is better at a glance or with use... better performance, better screen, they actually have the same amount of ram, it's just generally one hell of a step up from the HD7 to the DVP.

(damn, why do all the TMobile WP7 devices have to be the ones at $300 and up...??? it is not that worth it to spend even 200 on a phone to just use edge..-i think)
its a tough decision, considering the prices and then considering the functionality / quality as well.... (although it sucks that the current wp7 devices are not very much up to par with these newer phones....namely the 'no FFC' thing bugs me)
I currently have the HTC Surround, and I have had no complaints with it. I do not understand why everyone is hating it. It has amazing speakers, feels very sturdy, 16 glorious gb's of memory, and has the same exact os as all the others. And some may say that the LCD screen is not as brilliant as the focus's AMOLED screen. But I personally like the screen.
In the end, it is up to your personal preferences.
I say reluctantly, because I want WP to be awesome. I want to stay with it, but I just can't do this 'basic' thing anymore. The colours are so dreadfully boring, there's no WP8 support for my device, Zune software sucks ass. I miss being able to just drag and drop into my music folder. Why complicate it needlessly with restrictive software? How many "new" colours will there be? 4? Android used to be laggy, but it's not anymore. Why is there no speed dial? (Yes there's an app for that, but I live in a border city, the only dialer app that displays my network is the native one, and I need to see it). There's no DLNA app (The LG one? Sorry, that's not a working app, that's just some user interface that pretends to be a DLNA app), and the battery. My freakin gosh the battery. I'd get better battery life out of a lemon and copper wire. 99% gives me 12 hours, that's if I close all apps and leave it alone for the day. I own three chargers (work, car, home), and mine is only a 3.5" screen! What if I had went with the HD7??
These alleged WP8 handsets that are coming out, will they be on par with even 2010 tech? Probably not. I'm so underwhelmed by just everything. My bro-in-law has the Note, and it's insane. Super AMOLED HD screen, xvid/h-264 support, HD out, etc. And it's already outdated almost. The Note 2 will be announced tomorrow, and then hopefully soon available here in Canada.
These are old talking points, I know. I've been reading/lurking this board since before WP came out. It's been hashed out time and again. And it doesn't even matter. What matters is what will please you/me the most. What do you care which platform I go with? I'm not bashing anything, just verbalizing my internal dialogue trying to decide. I was a pioneer with this platform, it pains me, I wanted it to be awesome, but it's just not fully functional. "But wait for the next update" worked a year ago, not this time. WP8 will be undercooked and a day late.
The desktop Windows 8 looks like a disaster of Titanic/watergate proportions. I don't want my device to in any way require that... thing of an OS. They missed the point. They may have started with simplicity in mind, but they're far from it now.
I'm due now for an upgrade, but it's not required, so I'm probably waiting until after Christmas to give time for all the iPhone5/Note2/WP8's of the world to be fully released and reviewed.
Anyone else feeling like this?
to my understanding, there's no/not too much heat on new android devices because almost every month(if not every week) there're some new android devices released to the market. You will always find better device if you hold just a little bit, just a little. but for the iPhone or the coming WP8, it'll be quite a long time before you will see a real update, the next release cycle, one year or something. So, before you see those, why jump now?

Yeah that's been the ongoing joke about the iPhone forever. And Android is definitely doing that lately.
There's certain features I really need to have in my next device. The Note has all of them. If the Note 2 dials some back, then I'll just go with the Note 1 and save some cash. If you can wait a couple months and get a little bit bigger screen, why not right?
Wait until Jan/Feb. Im expecting Microsoft to really step up with WP8 or Im gone also. I really dont like Android, but I might be out of options.

I have a A500 running 4.0.3 I think, it works fine, but I ran into a lot crashes and problems too. I think I'm very open on which OS to use, the cheapest I think I got my Windows Phone Arrive for free, absolutely free, not even activation fee, so that's why I'm with WP7. But in fact, if I jump on the new release iPhone 5, but sell it, profits.
Another Option
This is not a flame but a genuine question. Why not wait and see what RIM come up with? I got my HTC Titan because I like the look and style of win 7 and realy do not like Iphone or Andriod and yes i have had an Andriod and my girlfriend has my Iphone 4. I too feel there is just too much missing from win7 and am due an upgrade about November so if RIM can manage to sort out there act i might give it a try.Remember how things were for apple a few years ago when they were talking about just selling the company
its just an idea
Mark
^ waiting on RIM, it'll be sometime next year before an actual device is released.
Side note:
I just sold a GS3. Damn beastly phone, the best I ever had. I didn't even mind Touch wiz. I had it for one full day before selling it, that home button just ruined the experience for me though.

What vetvito said. Blackberry won't have BB10 out until like Q2 2013. As well as that, I'm just not interested in the last hurrah of a sinking company. It will probably be pretty limited. I'm just getting done with a 'new' platform, I'd like to be with something that's worked in.
Yes exactly my thoughts also on RIM. I dont want to switch to an OS that most likely will not be around anymore in few years. Before Nokia announced MS partnership I was expecting Meego to be the thing for me. I really hope hope WP8 is meeting my expectations and I wouldnt have to move to Android.
My suggestion would also be to simply wait what Microsoft's partners and Apple are bringing to the table next month. If you wait until december you should have all the options aside from RIM for whom I personally would not wait.
The Note is a nice phone in theory but the only one I know who owns one is telling me permanently about the newest strangeness it decides on doing (guess it's simply his device that's acting up - at least I hope so).
On the hardware front I'm not that concerned over WP8. The release handsets were announced to all feature Qualcomms Snapdragon S4 Plus chipsets which, even though being dual core instead of quad, offer better performance than the Tegra 3 and Samsungs own Quadcore-Chips due to the Krait-Architecture by Qualcomm. It's the same chip the LTE-Versions of the HTC One X and Galaxy S3 currently use. HD displays are also a go with WP8.
The biggest question will be WP8 features and it seems we will know whats coming there in one week.
I do see the point in waiting, but I just got myself a Focus S and its the dogs bollocks
I think what most users need to do is actually sit down and find out what they want from their phone.
apart from being able to install customs ROMs this phone does everything I want it to and it looks amazing so for me its ideal, waiting for a WP8 device may seem prudent just now but again, what do you actually want it to do, WP8 will bring new features but do you really NEED them or is it a case of "yeah that would be cool to have" if its the latter than you are buying it for the wrong reason.
theres too much focus on tech and not enough on actual usability. I can promise you that no android or Iphone will be better for my needs at the moment, not because I know every single device out there but because I know what I need my phone for, and the Focus S ticks all the boxes
So that's my advice, sit down, and write down what your phone MUST do, not what youd like it to do but MUST do, once you find a phone that does all of those things weigh up costs etc yes WP8 will be out soon, but do you NEED it, the answer may be no, but the flip side is that WP7 devices will drop in price so perhaps that's your best option.....anyhow, just food for thought
At the end of the day, it is just a phone. Doesn't matter what OS you buy into but this time around, don't buy a phone which "looks" good or "feels" good.
I would suggest trying out the phone and functions to your heart's content before parting with your money. Like everyone else, I am playing a waiting game before I invest my cash on any OS. This Christmas Santa will be pretty confused too!

MY WORDS! WP8 has some new features, but 80% of the world does not use NFC. look at Europe or Asia, have somebody seen some NFC around? the same thing, even worse is with east Europe. ok the better screen and the developer could make apps for WP8 in c++ but that not that big deal for the mayor of us. the problem is Other operating systems like Android made the WP7 users to WISH better specs. that's the problem, like an virus thats now in the heads of a few WP7 users. my WP7 does everything what i need to have from a phone right now, and for the next one, two years! like you stated people think of WP8 "yeah that and that feature would be cool to have" but i will never use it. i say lets wait until 7.8 and the new start screen, it looks and feels like the WP8. ok we dont get wallet and such thing, but wallet i dont need, i have a real wallet made out from leather the only thing whats not so good for wp7 is that voip agent can not run in background like the GSM service. so that would be an WP8 feature why i would switch, but not right now, maybe next year when the devices would be around 300-400€ in Germany.

I disagree on some of these points. Higher screen resolutions and native code are very important features. Native code enables easier porting of apps from iOS and Android (not to mention more similarity between WP8 and Windows RT) and should make these apps faster / more responsive. Having a choice of a retina display would also be nice
It would also be nice to have some bug fixes, which is more likely to happen on WP8. Tango seemed to break podcast management for some of us, in addition to a few other niggles (e.g. why can't I edit the original email after pressing reply / forward?, volume normalisation issues etc). The overall experience is good - however, there seem to be several rough edges in WP7.

Hmm good thoughts, but I disagree.
With things as luxurious as cell phones, the wants are what's most important. Cause if you go by "needs", then I'll be getting a simple feature phone, or a low end Android. Because I don't care who you are, no one needs resolution even as high as 800x480. What I "need" are email and text capabilities. I think the RAZR circa 2004 had that.
What I want is not what WP can provide right now. I know HD screens are approved, but welcome to 2011, as we head into 2013. They'll always be a step behind. Will WP8 have HDMI out? x264 support? Working DLNA? wifi hotspot? Doing away with software and just allowing drag and drop? Motion (press screen and move your hand around)?
I've been to the threads and looked at the features we've seen so far and it's just what should have been included in October 2010. The saying "wait for the next update", has been given as an excuse for every single update.
Just waiting now for news of the Note 2. Berlin is like 5 hours ahead of EST isn't it? I would've thought it'd be revealed by now.

Ah, it's 1pm for the reveal. Leaked pictures look pretty sick.

Seriously, it would be nice to be with a solid performer.
Meego looked cool, and Bada looked promising as well. C'est la vie I guess.
Android really has come a long way
Personally I didn't really like stock Android without sense till ics. It changed everything. Battery is meh compared to I phone, but with a custom kernel I can get ~12 hours with 1-2 hours screen on if I stick with lte. With jb its really smooth too I'd recommend a Nexus if you want os support. I have an HTC Rezound and htc is really poor with updates. If you are willing to root a toro/maguro will be supported for years. If not, you should at least get a year more of updates since the phone came out last November.

^ it'll get more than a year of support. Nexus S, two years old still getting love.

The N9 meego was awesome. Samsung killed Bada due to poor sales, but it sold more than WP7.
I'm wanting to see what the Jolla guys do later this year.

Ah but usability is the main point here, HDMI, x264, DLNA, NFC are all features that are completely meaningless for many of us, you are absolutely right that a feature phone from 2004 would have done all that I need, but my phone does it better, quicker and a lot more efficiently! but that is my point if you NEED HDMI then that becomes a tick box that must be met, if it is a "oh that's a cool feature" then it shouldn't be a main tick box otherwise you'll be a mug for marketing and end up spending more on stuff you don't NEED.
All those folk out there with quad core phones are a prime example, slapping a quad core in my phone will make absolutely no difference at all in the slightest and I question anyone that doesn't play games or encode video on there phone to tell me that it does make a difference, its a great marketing tool though, its QUAD core guys, its X4 better than a single core, you MUST have this, and people lap it up, hook line and sinker

:good:
I am completely satisfied with my HD7 and NextGen 3.3 ROM, two things I miss in everyday life: Teamviewer and how to KILL SMS toast notification...
I found this phone on this website...
http://www.chinaecarts.com/samsung-...-core-android-41-ram-2gb-rom-16gb-p-2802.html
But I'm not sure if it'll be what I'm expecting. I want a note 2 but don't really wanna pay a whole lot for since I'm gonna buy out right but at the same time I want one with the same specs as the original and be able to use cases that the original note 2 uses. I also want to customize the phone with custom roms as well. Does anyone know if this can be done with this clone?
Thanks!
And if there's any more info someone can share with me or an even better clone out there plz let me know...

Why would you expect support from a company that admittedly sells counterfeit products? And why would you support them?
My opinion, stay away, far away from it.

So basically you want to have the same specs, dev support and the whole package, with a cheapo clone? Read that again and see if that makes any sense at all.
If there is such a thing, why would we all pay 600$ and buy the original at all?
Well first off its just a question on whether or not the phone could do it. Secondly, I would pay the $600 when I have the money...I'm just looking for more inexpensive options. With today's crappy economy you can't blame anyone for looking for alternative options in things they want.

I live in a 3rd world country but can still manage to buy a Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
Don't have money? Then save and get money.
Stay away from that idea you have now.

Living in China I bought some of these devices but you have to understand these devices are for LOOK. They LOOK like the original(if you're not to close lol) but the hardware is very different. They often perform surprisingly well but their camera are always crap.
Of course since the hardware is very different you can't come on the Note II forum to get help because your phone is NOT a Note II, it only looks like one.
Finally buying a clone is not an alternative of what you want. If you want a Note II, an alternative would be to buy a second hand, then you get what you want at a cheaper price. But buying a clone is like wanting a Ferrari but buying Go-Kart.
There is nothing wrong with having a clone, but the fact that you are expecting "almost" genuine product support is more than exaggerated don't you think?
Before we extend this thread with negative answers ppl will continue to give you, you should realize that a clone runs perhaps a very different type of hardware meaning the custom roms will never ever support. You could try them of course, but do not be surprised if your screen will never come back on, camera not working, mic, touchscreen failure etc.
DITTO with everyone here! I would just delay your purchase until you have money for your, "Want" as you stated.
To be honest, owning a Note II is a personal choice, and there are 25+ other phones that have similar functions that I would purchase before I got ANY clone. Keep in mind, support? Drivers? apps? insurance? warranty?
I agree with majority. (And if you wait on release of Note III, Note II will come down in price)
NOTE: I (or we) and not trying to talk negatively about you, just member love! There are therads, plenty of them, where members got ripped off on aftermarket clones (SanDisk Chips are big rip off from 2nd and 3rd party vendors. I have been following that big here as Note II can handle 64GB as I have).
