any chance this will happen?
Someone may make a port, sure, but to actually acheive 4g speeds, not likely. It's been discussed here already that it cannot support the full speed of HSPA+
i know it's impossible to reach 4G speeds i was just wondering about the rom, because i just saw a video on mytouch 4g and i like the ui
Oh, haven't seen it yet. I imagine it can be ported provided it's stock features aren't too resource heavy... Being that it's not even being sold yet, a ROM is not likely anytime soon...
a port is not likely due to the difference in screen size
that's too bad, do you think the froyo update will be similar?

Not to sound stupid or rude, but I could of sworn that they already leaked the myTouch 4g's rom. The problem with the myTouch 4g's rom is that its gonna take up too much time trying to get it to work for our device. The 4g has a larger screen resolution than us. The rom will have to be resized to work for our phone. I don't think no one will want to take on that project.

The 4g's UI is basically the same UI we already have. Only real difference I've seen was the dialer and the notification having the ability to show more than just 4 recent apps that have been used.

I just watched a video of the phone, the UI was renamed mySense now...I still wondering how they found time to make a 2.2 version of Espresso/mySense, but cant simply give us 2.2...There are also new media apps, and some new widget designs. And of course froyo's power that's from JIT. The 4G was give 7xx ram and 4GB int, which is a lot more than we got.
I may get a G2 though since the design is better, but I might wait for dual-core phones instead.
But the rom probably wont be ported due to the HDPI screen, that we dont have, which is why we dont have a rom from the Desire/evo/SGS/Droid X/etc...

I think the froyo update for our phone has been completed for a while now. I think that T-Mobile hasn't given it to us because they want us to get rid of the Slide for their newer model (myTouch 4g).

Thanks and I'm willing to bet that late November is the date for Froyo 2.2 update. If not then early December. T-MOBILE is giving us time to consider buying the g2 or myTouch 4g. The sad part is that I bought this phone assuming that the update was gonna be given shortly after. BOY WAS I WRONG.LMAO. Good part is that I paid $50 brand new for this phone without contract. I'm sorry for the people who paid $500+. That's very high for a midrange phone.

Is the Mytouch 3g slide with Genius button the same as the regular slide? Phone arena had orignally listed it as an up coming phone a few months back with a 1ghz processor, but I can't find the proocessor specs for it on T-mobile's website, and Phone arean has removed it from upcoming, and it isn't listed under available either, it had said holiday 2010 release date soo...? Also would Dev and rom support for it be in this forum or would XDA open a new section. Thanks
Never Mind, finally found a reference to the processor on the tmobile website, its sayin 600mhz, which leaves me wondering what happened to the phone PhoneArena was taking about strange.

Anyone know how to increase the wireless tether speed I have tired the built in tether and after messing with several rom's I am getting horrible speeds.
Tried to install wifi tether and could not get that to work either.
I am currently running decks rim.
Used to get speeds of up to 2mb on the built in Tether and close to 4 using wifi tether. now best I get is .8

Welcome to Sprint's "blazing fast" 3g network.
Pretty much what he said you can try to do a speed test and see what you get but pretty much you can look for better service for better speeds

You can also try setting up a proxy.
Yes, Sprints 3G & 4G speeds have been circling the drain for almost a year now. Tower to device speeds are bad; tower through device to laptop speeds are terrible.
If you have Easytether you're in luck. Back it up in triplicate. Don't allow automatic updates. Any updates will either remove it or render it unusable. ET is no longer available for Sprint 4G devices. If you can find a copy, simply side load it.
For Wireless Tether, setting up a proxy is definitely the way to go. Filter Proxy, available free in Market, will do the trick. There is a quick set-up guide somewhere here at XDA. While not as fast as EasyTether, the Wireless Tether with Filter Proxy isn't too bad.
I had this problem their are three things I did to fix it they are all easy 1. Call sprint and tell them you are haveing trouble makeing and receiving calls, bad data speeds blah blah blah (their will be an option somewhere in their voicemail that basically says that.) They will reset your data which will make everything faster. They will make you update your phones radios and etc. Cancel those and do it yourself (I just reflashed a rom I knew had them all included) 2. If you haven't already v6 supercharge and 3g optimize (they are both posted on xda) 3. Overlock the heck out of it whenever you run tether.
Ps. I don't think v6 will make it faster but it will make your phone faster so it might help a lil. Also I have never tried this but I know you can make your phone default to verizon 4g lte this might help verizon has better service where you live

Haha you have no idea what you are talking about. Again, Verizon's 4g is LTE based, Sprint's is Wimax. Two COMPLETELY different networks. The Evo does NOT have an LTE radio, therefore you will NEVER be able to connect to verizon's 4g. Yes, the Thunderbolt and Evo are similar, except for the fact that the Thunderbolt has a 4g LTE radio and not a Wimax radio.
And no, Verizon's 4g is not "basically 3g". My friends with Verizon phones can pull 15mbps down all day long.

Technically, our device is HSPA+ and not 4G, hence why the developers opted for an 'H' icon; there is a mod out there that replaces the 'H' with a '4G' icon, if you want your device to lie to you like T-Mobile did.

no thank you! if this is the truth then i'll just stick with the H. i just needed to know. SCREW YOU T-MOBILE for making us fall for that 4g
In my opinion - T-mobile's faux 4g is better (and I suppose AT&T has it as well, but AT&T sucks )
Reasons:
1. So much cheaper for them to put into place.
2. Speeds (on 4g networks I have used - NY, Dallas, Portland, dozens of other places) are always north of 3 mbps down and 1 mbps up, all you really need for any kind of laptop tethering, and certainly more than you ever need for netflix on your phone, and definitely way more than you need for browsing sites on your phone (good websites nowadays even with plenty of pictures are small size still).
3. It doesn't suffer from the constantly low signal issues of real 4g (i.e. no signal AT ALL inside of buildings - this is what I have seen from multiple people who have traveled with me - I have 4g when they have 2x or whatever the hell edge is for them)
4. Super cheap for our provider to upgrade, passing savings on to us in the long run - in some cases, all the tower needs is a firmware upgrade. At worst, fiber optics lines are needed in order to facilitate the faster speeds needed.
5. In "real" 4g phones, you have to turn something on to access your faster speeds? Really? I know, bit hypocritical coming from a guy who has rooted his phone and flashes roms, (for the record, I've only flashed G-lite after rooting!) but I bet the average consumer doesn't realize that they have to turn it on and never uses it. With HSPA+, it might not always be really "4G" when the icon says "4G," but at least we don't have to turn anything on - we just have to be in signal range! If you really want to know, you can get a widget (or modify the good ol' framework-res.apk )
6. Furthermore, BATTERY. Need I say more? From the numerous people who have managed to get LTE signal I have traveled with, the BATTERY DRAINS LIKE WATER OUT OF A... SOMETHING WITH A HOLE IN IT. Ridiculous. Don't know about you guys, but even when I had low signal strength HSPA+ at work all day long, my battery would fall maybe 30% over 12 hours of light use on the stock unrooted rom.
I've decided to make a thread out of this in the "General" area, just to collate everybody else's opinion and see what you all think!
Ran over it with a forklift, probably more that once, should I buy another or something different?

I agree with the rest. I love my dinc2, but at the end of the day it is getting more and more noticable that it is slowing down and becoming laggier with each new rom flash. Its just old. I'm going to keep mine as long as it lasts or until some great nexus (with 4G) comes out.

Some networks claim to be 4G and all that, but their "advanced network" doesnt go coast to coast and still in spots you only get 3g coverage, Like here in Sacramento there are places my old Dinc2 is faster than "4G" phones on Verizons LTE. Also Some run just a boosted 3G network slap the 4G sticker on it and charge more and cut out our awesome unlimited plans in the pursuit of more money.

I don't think I've checked on my S3, but on my Inc2 I got 1x at my house. I know I can get LTE on my S3, but only if I'm on the second level in just the right corner.
To the OP, honestly, why get another Inc2? Even if you don't have 4G coverage in your area right now, Verizon is aiming to almost fully shadow their current 3G map with their LTE network by the end of the year. Now, knowing Verizon, that probably won't actually happen. But even if they get 75% of their 3G area covered with 4G as well, I see no valid reason to limit yourself with a 3G-only device.
And beyond that, the Inc2 is now an old device, relatively speaking. It's a single-core processor that even if overclocked and running smooth as silk, still has nowhere near the processor of more modern devices.
