Every product as versatile as the MDA Pro, deserves it's own comunity. As it's a ground-breaking device and sports a brand new operating system, there are likely to be numerous teething problems.
There are few good sources of information available for the mda pro at present, the best of which being this one. Despite containing everything you could need to know, I found it very difficult for a novice to find info quickly.
Whilst waiting for my phone to arrive, I bought the website www.mdapro.uk , I've set up a forum there, for beginners like my self, to get the full potential out of there phone / mini laptop / PDA ....
I've produced this site as I'm the proud owner of a new MDA Pro and I'm sure I can use it for more than browsing the net on the Loo. There's an obvious need for a site dedicated to the MDA Pro and I hope www.mdapro.co.uk will be helpfull to a lot of people.
www.mdapro.co.uk is for anyone who owns or is thinking of purchasing an I-mate Jasjar / MDA Pro / XDA Exec / HTC Universal or any of it's other guises.
Please join my forum and help to build a community. There's power in numbers and together we can overcome any problems each of us may have. Together we can make the proposition of upgrading to a PDA as simple and pain-free as possible.
Thanks

Tip - get some proper hosting (add-free stuff), and sort the formatting on teh front page out :/ - one slim column of text on the left with adds on teh right and nothing in teh middle.
Its a good idea though, and could probably have been integrated here somehow, providing the admins have the time and inclination to do it.
Thanks for tips!
The big blank bit in the middle is gonna contain a general phone overview, (When I get chance to write it). I've only really been concentrating on getting the forum up and running, which I think is all set up correctly now.
My hosting company seem pretty efficient so far. They were chosen on cost alone. If I get enough members to quantify upgrading, I will search for better hosting. While there's only a handfull of members, my £20 per year hosting should do just fine. At least for now.
If there's anything anyone would like including on the site, I'm more than happy to listen. Likewise to any advice or criticism.
I think making sure you and XDA Devs don't cross the same ground is important, so making sure somehow your site is providing a specific and different service.
Also, I would put a big obvious link back to XDA Devs as a courtesy.
Best of luck.
Joe
Thanks Joe,
I dont want to step on anyones toes, here. I intend my site to be specific to one phone, aimed at begginers and prospective upgraders.
Xda developers is a fantastic source of info for all levels. Its only downfall is that it is difficult for beginners, such as myself, to navigate. I want my site to fill the gap for beginners. I only really want to to include tried and tested methods on my site, rather than experimental material. I will link to xda developers for more advanced users and further reading.
I'm more than happy to include links to this site anywhere it may be relevant.
Sank5!
Just registered on your forum...
Hope it will be a success... at least I am there for you
hee i am one off the newest member i hope to learn a lot overthere.
This is my first pda ,mda so i wil putt my newbie questions there thanks anyway 8)
Thanks for your support
Thanks to everyone who's joined my forum. The sites almost completely functional now, if lacking a bit in content. We currently have a massive 20 users!
Now you've all had your MDA Pro's for a while, I'd appreciate it if you shared your experiences with us. I've been too busy with work and the site to have a good play with my phone, but I intend that to change very soon any hints / advice would be more than welcome.
Does anyone know how to capture a screen shot on the MDA Pro or run a macromedia flash movie as I am getting desperate for both.
Thanks

sank5: for screenshots check out MagicSS. Not perfect but almost.
For Flash, not really sure, but check out a thread on benchmarking the Uni. You can cross reference by searching by my username and vjsihaya.

I have a QTEK 9000. Does this mean i cannot join?
I just tried to access it now but "Cannot find server" came out.
Edited:
It's ok now, seems one ofr the links above says www.msdapro.uk when clicked
@sank5
I use Resco PhotoViewer on my device. It comes with a Screen Capture "add on" which works perfect for me.
Some "always on top" window will be opened in the middle including the button to make the shot (which can be delayed by 10 seconds if You like).
You can browse through all programs to prepare the screen as You need it before taking the shot, nicely working for me.

Ruud

Got Flash Working Now, thanks to 'findus'. You can download it here:-

Works well, but much slower than the desktop version. I'm off to checkout MagicSS and Resco PhotoViewer.
Thanks Again

Probably a very silly question but I have to ask ;-)
Will Windows 7 ever be able to run on a rooted HTC desire ?
If so who's gonna have a go ...
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
one word WHY!! I can cope without another device showing a blue screen of death!!
No, Windows is closed source so making it work is difficult and probably illegal too.
@OP: That's a joke right? ..... right??

FYI I mean windows 7 mobile to lol the xbox live part is what interests me the most

Windows 7 is x86 if not x64 architecture and will not run on ARM based Systems.
And since its closed source nobody will bother.
So its not gonna happen.
If you like closed source buy Apple
More to the point, if you want windows mobile, buy an HD2.
And how about using the search button? This gets asked EVERY week.
Always someone moans about using the search button ... if you know the answer don't read the thread.
Ofcourse I don't want a HD2 otherwise my signature would say sent from hd2 all I wanted to.know is whether anyone would be able to get 7 to.run on the desire regardless of who likes it or what platform its meant for

My point is if you used the search button we would not be having this pointless discussion, these threads are very repetitive to regulars and just add more clutter to the rom development section.

That is indeed the most silly quesition u could come up with..
Are u one of the boys who want to brag around saying their phone is like the best, because its an android phone but it can also run other devices OS meaning u got like 2 or 3 phones in one??
I mean thats pretty lame. Go buy an HD2 and run android on it, or flash a rom stuffed with galaxy S wallpapers and themes and stuff.
You bought a desire.. thats like the ultimate gadget out there.. and ur still not happy with it? Go ask ur mommy and daddy to break the piggy bank, and post a thread saying "i'll pay 1500€ per developer, who will join the team in making win7 flashable on desire"
that should answer your "silly" question about IF and WHEN as well as WHO.
Sry but posts like this just piss me off.. WHY would you want a regular interior of VW Golf 1,9 TDI in a freaking Ferrari???
Thats what u wanna have with asking for win7 on a desire!

Ofcourse we freakin' moan. We frequent XDA visitors see the same question posted over and over again by people who don't search.
If you had searched, you would also know the answer, just like those who read the rules when they sign up for XDA-Dev forums.
In the top of this very forum there is a simple thread called "Forum & Marketplace Rules".
And the first rule, to rule all the rest is:
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.

I'm pretty sure the "likely someone already asked that question" applies here.

You're not alone. Nobody seems to bother using search. Wish we had more mods. And mods that remind people about the rules. Three warnings and you're out would be nice.

I cant understand why to buy an Android Phone when i need/like Winmob Features! Android is what it is not more not less! It do what it do if it not do what you want dont buy it!

As are these sorts of posts moaning about search buttons. Ironic eh?
there are 2 main points that make this thread pointless!!!
1) porting windows mobile is not possible on an android phone!
2) (and the most important) even if it was possible, windows mobile isnt open source, none of us own a licence for windows phone 7, that would make it piracy and therefore illegal
Hold on a min folks!!
CountryMous3 asked a simple question wherther you think it stupid or not.
All you folk need to say is yes or no-go! There is absolutely no need to get all hotted up about someone asking what you feel is a stupid question.
Yes remind them of the search function, but hey were you born with the knowledge you now have??
@Daelyn
Are you suggesting the mods are not doing their job to your satisfaction? If the mods you talk about are to deal with noobs as harshly as you believe they should for failing to observe correct forum etiquette, then how much more should you and those who have treated a noobie as if they were a moron, be altogehter FORCEFULLY EJECTED from the site..knowledge and all! Y'all should know better!! It takes so-called 'stupid ' questions from a brave heart to carve new parts in uncharted territory!
Chew on that then flame me too if you must but you know you're all being unsavoury.
Hi fellas.
Need to know if there will be any android port available for the HTC Surround WP7
Something like Dualboot because I like android alot but want to try out WP7 , going to buy the phone 2morrow.

More along the lines of
1. Ask stupid question
2. Don't get the answer I want
3. Ask same stupid question in another forum despite many crystal clear answers
4. ?????
5. Profit?

Buy a HD2. Cheap to get. Almost the same hardware as the Desire HD and with WM6.5.
We can swap phones if you like? Your HD to me, my HD2 to you.

dual-boot with windows phone 7 and android would be nice but launcher7 is also good. is it possible to port windows phone 7 to dhd, if we have something like a serial key?
This question has been asked, and answered to death. IMHO if you cant figure out how to use search on a forum you probably couldn't install windows even if it where possible, which it isn't
Hi Guys,
The above poster is correct, this has been asked and answered many times previously but to put it in simple terms, the answer is no.
In order to boot Windows you require a Windows bootloader, which the DHD doesn't have. The HD2 on the other hand (which boots Windows by default) can also boot Android.
Check em out on Ebay, you can pick up handsets reasonably cheaply if you just want a unit to play with.
Cheers,
Jaybo
Hey guys, I just recently got my Nexus 7 2nd gen and its my first android device. Im all about customization and thats what got me so excited about the possibilities that android offers. Anyway, I am looking to root my tablet asap but because Im new I have my reservations. Im looking for advice, tips, opinions and etc. Anything would be greatly appreciated and Im excited about learning more about the android platform and my new Nexus. With all that said my main concern is about rooting itself and what i need to look out for when i try to tackle this. Thanks for the help!
Congratulations, Android is a fun environment. As you are sure to learn (from all the other replies), the burden of learning falls on YOU. Read all the stickies, rules, and above all search! In addition to the forum search, sometimes Google search works better.
More direct to your question, go to the development sub-forum and find the WugFresh toolbox. It will help you get started, but you will really want to understand the underlying tools to really get the most from your tablet.
Have fun!
