I don't think so. Though I am experiencing and seeing a lot of mixed results for myself and other users.
Considering that this phone seems to need quite a lot of tweaking in order to make it work reasonably, who other than XDA geeks would want to be bothered with it.
Personally I love the phone, mine AT&T Tilt 2.
Yet as a user I am constantly annoyed with issues regarding default browsers, both Opera 9.5 and IE 6 are very slow loading AT&T's default home page. Issues with these browsers rendering AT&T Yahoo Email in a format other than WAP viewing, which renders in text only format, making HTML email useless.
I am a geek just like most of us. I can and have found some work around for a lot of things.
Still, I bought this phone to use it, not to F... with it.
I am having a very hard time finding a decent case for it, seems that case makers have no interest in producing cases for it.
Maybe the hate AT&T culture is catching up to it.
Why? Because of iPhone?
Sorry for venting so loud, I am just fed up.

I have noticed some hang ups. I think if you have a scheduled reset for every other night it will help. I mean this is a computer, how many of us run a computer all day everyday without restart?
Opera 10 beta is out and there are a lot of little tweaks that can really help with performance. If you wanted a phone for the purpose of having a phone there are plenty of others out there that will do the job just as well, if not better.
I think they should change the name of the at&t store to the at&t~Iphone store. Heck, if you go to the kiosk, it even says "to buy an iphone, press here".
You can't go 5 feet inside one of those stores without seeing something related to the iPhone.
At&t sold its soul for the iPhone, and like Motorola did with the Razr, they stopped innovating.
^^ so true i knew a few people that used to work for att they got more of a commision if they sold an iphone compared to another branded phone
I love my Tilt 2. It does require a lot of tweaking to make it really hum, but once that's out of the way, it is a really great phone. You'd never know it from walking into an AT&T store - the ones I've been in have it buried in the back.
I think the Seidio spring-clip holster is a good case. Seidio makes high-quality stuff and the face-in design keeps the screen protected.
As for the slow browsing speeds, did you do the data speed fix? It makes a huge difference.
Don't get me wrong on this.
I believe that the Tilt 2 is a great computer/pda/phone in one package. In that order.
What I am trying to get at is other than we XDA geeks who might want to flash roms etc, who would have the patience or even know what to do.
I have looked at many posts regarding TP2 and Tilt 2.
This and other Rhodium variations should be easy to use by the average user.
Otherwise they will fail.
I work every day in an IT/Telecom environment for many years.
Most of the time when I speak to users that they are needing to make changes to their browser settings because an update to Internet Explorer has disabled a particular function, or whatever causes their eyes to glaze over due to non-comprehension of what I am talking about.
With a phone, why does it have to be so hard for it to work reasonably well without any intervention of common users.
That is where currently WinMo phones get into trouble in the market place.
They work great for geeks who have the time patience to tweak them.
Personally, I would rather be doing something else than making tweaking my phone another part of my career.
This is more than likely not to be the forum to be posting to as, the original poster is likely to be flamed by more senior posters.
Kind of cranky being a WinMo user before they became phones and called a junior member.

Mainstream vendors of accessories such as cases have no intention of producing cases for Tilt 2. Seidio No. Body Glove No.

Who are you complaining to here? Yourself? It's not really clear.
The iPhone and Tilt 2 are targeted at different market segments. The iPhone is a consumer device - it's a prettied-up dumbphone with a unique user experience that gets the benefit of AT&T pushing it over all other devices and prioritizing network traffic for it over all other devices.
The Tilt 2 is targeted at the business segment. It's unfortunate that AT&T "cripples" some functionality out of the box but, even fully featured, it's never going to sell in iPhone-like numbers. It's largely a phone for a power user.
And there are cases for the Touch Pro 2 / Tilt 2: http://www.seidioonline.com/category-s/3775.htm
It should be pretty clear what I am complaining about. It is that the phone is set up in a way which makes a difficult user experience.
I work with business users daily as an IT consultant.
Most of the every day users have no interest in tweaking anything.
Who I am complaining to is pretty much up to who responds, in what way.
I have researched many topics in this fora about cases, and have found very few vendors who are offering cases for the Tilt 2.
Thank you for flaming in a reasonably respectful way.
I can't speak for the Tilt2 since I don't have it. But I do have an unlocked European Touch Pro2. The out-of-the-box experience was quite nice for me. The stock WinMo 6.1 ROM performance was excellent. It was possible to handle most tasks within the HTC Sense environment, such that noobs often don't need to go into the WinMo interface. So perhaps it's AT&T who messed up your device?
A lot of the bugs are introduced because ppl want the latest WinMo build or they want the latest version of Sense. So it's good that we at least have an option to do so.
Btw, I didn't think dwboston's post was flaming. Let's try to keep things nice. If you were offended, I'll apologize on his behalf
Often in telecom, if there is a circuit in question we will disconnect the circuit to see who itches or *****es.
Think a nerve was struck back there.
Are these devices produced only to stoke the ego of those who would say, "See what I can do with mine, can you do this?"
In order for any WinMo device to succeed it should be extremely functional, which it is, and reasonably easy for the average user to like.
Which it isn't.

Yup, this is currently the nature of WinMo. It's has the most functionality of all smartphone platforms. Yet, it's ugly and fairly unstable.
We're all looking forward to WinMo 7 to address this.

My computer running Windows 7 has been up for 23 days no problem. The only reason it was restarted is because I moved it. Otherwise, it only gets restarted when there is a Windows Update the requires a restart. I have gone over 2 months without a restart before.
But that is no comparison. Windows Mobile is buggy and unstable. Everyone should recognize that. I have been using it for 6 years and never have I had a device that didn't need restarts unless I am using it for the most extremely basic tasks (messaging, calling).
Windows Mobile 7 better fix this and everything else with Windows Mobile or I'm jumping ship to Android.

Truer words have never been spoken...
I'm still on Windows XP at home, and I never shut down or reboot unless it's a software/update installation requires it. When I sleep or leave, I put it on standby.
With WinMo, I have a software that automatically schedules daily soft-resets for me. The TP2 is actually better than other WinMo devices I've used in that it can actually survive about 3 or 4 days until it slows to a crawl. But I'd rather have it freshly booted waiting for me every morning.

Are you talking about basic computing (web browsing, email, music) or cpu/memory intensive applications?
Try running photoshop day in day out without restarting and you start to experience little hang ups etc. Our phone is basically processing at 50%+ at all times, try throwing that at your CPU and seeing how long it can stay on for.
Seriously now, I understand we can literally leave our computers on for days, but having it actually use 50% memory and 50% cpu at all times is different than letting it sit idle and using 5% or less for web browsing etc.

The reality is, WinMo is a crappy OS. There's no debating that. What load a processor sees should have little/nothing to do with the STABILITY of an OS. Many servers that see very high loads often aren't rebooted for months or years. I think winmo/crappy drivers/crappy software on top of winmo are like the culprit. It's everything.
I've not used Android phones too much, but things certainly seem to "just work" better (I'm a linux fan personally). There's little question that winmo is getting left in the dust by android, and personally winmo 7 may be too little too late. I have a touch pro now, and am looking to switch to the tilt 2.. It has crossed my mind about getting an iphone, but the damn thing is too "locked down" for my taste..

Sweet, thanks! Now if I'd only realized before I asked that this would be specific to the AT&T model, duh!
*facepalm*
It would not be used my your average droid user but for those few of us it would be a time saver and money maker... Time is money in my job.... DirecTV installer that is.
Here's what we do, we put up all external and internal equipment and then start doing firmware updates at which time, we stand around looking bored or put all our equipment away during the 20 minutes worth of upgrade and reboot.
That time could best be served by programming the remotes to all devices and some times we are able to accomplish this by going to DTV's website using link:
http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIF.jsp?assetId=P4380052#h:620.977
The problem is when we are out of 3G area in the desert mountains it's either painfully slow or non-existent
Now, if a DEV sees a way to cache the codes and make a app for our droids, I know a ton of installers would be willing to purchase it. Shoot, I'd be willing to throw out a 20 if it would save me the down time and get me to my next job faster as we don't get paid by the hour, we get paid by completed install/upgrade.
So, just an idea for a DEV, well... request really. An app that is searchable like DTV's site that would give all remote codes for a device. Not just the one result, but the "Find More Codes" included.
Sorry for rambling.
I have had the phone, bought from phones 4U contract free for the past few days and i wanted to give my views for people who may be undecided if it is a sound purchase. Just for the record i still have my iPhone 4 & Desire HD, so i am not biased.....
I was unsure about the form factor when reading the specs, but the lack of hardware buttons means it is literally 95% screen real estate, the display is a thing of beauty. I know others have reported colour issues, but i have not had problems with yellow hue. Or any other display issues. It also feels light but sturdy, i'm sure you will have seen the scratch test video. I'm confident that the screen will stay scratch free unless i drop it (To be fair i will probably drop it)
ICS - It is a great update for android. People have commented about it not being intuitive or user friendly. I spent the first few hours setting things up and finding my way around the OS and while it takes some getting used to it is far better than gingerbread. It is of course biased to Google+ - people who have concerns about not being able to sync their facebook contact pictures should use "syncmypix" it has done a great job populating my phonebook pictures. I have had some force closes, and apps from the market do need an update due to some compatibility issues. As this is a software issue i am not concerned. I would like to add that the face unlock is actually very good. I set the "gimmick unlock" to test it, and it has proved to be more than adequate for day to day use. It does not work in low light, but again hardly a surprise.
GPS is also excellent on the phone seeing a connection established nearly instantly.
I must be missing something with the connecting to other hardware issue. I guess people use their smartphones differently, but from my point of view i connect my phone to my PC to transfer files back and forth and sometimes tether my laptop to use the internet. Both of these things work fine and quickly, so i am clearly missing the issue.
The camera: Ok, the camera isn't going to set the world on fire. In the right lighting it takes a pretty decent snap, but if you are looking for a phone with a heavy emphasis on photos it probably isnt for you. No software updates will change that. I do like the instant shutter speed and it comes with some nice effects.
The battery: Hmmmm the jury is out on the battery. I usually like to cycle the battery over a few days till it settles down, i can then make a valid comment. So far though the battery is giving me approx 12 hours of use, i would consider myself a heavy user (It's a new phone and i'm playing with it lots)
Overall - If you love tech, and are an early adopter it's a great phone. The OS is lightening fast and the display is great. If you want something that 'Just works' i would hold on.
I HAVE NOT HAD THE VOLUME PROBLEMS THAT OTHERS HAVE COMMENTED ON. LITERALLY NOT ONCE.
Please feel free to ask anything about the phone, or if you would like me to try something out just let me know.
Cheers

are you even aware of the conditions that trigger the fault?
If you are not on O2, Vodafone, giffgaff, or Tesco Mobile...then you wouldn't experience the fault. Please give more info about what network you're with.
*sigh of relief* as I'm on Three I hope I won't develop these problems, as there's no 2G to switch to.

Good to know about the battery. I've heard many bad things about the battery life, so it's good to know that yours is lasting as long as one would expect.
Please post what operator you're one so that we can determine if it's all handsets that are being plagued by the volume problems, or just some or most.
I'm with Optus in Australia and I'm fairly certain that they operate on the 900Mhz GSM frequency

Screen brightness auto. No live wallpapers. Two full charges. One gmail account on push and one Exchange on push. I browsed Reddit for about 10-15minutes after waking up and that saw the battery down about 6% or so.
Since then I listened to Spotify on the walk to work (15mins). I've replied to some texts, installed/used a network Speed Test app once, showed the camera to a friend and took a panorama. And played with a few settings. Nothing intensive.

Actual screen on time was 1h9m for 6h1m49s on battery. The % was where the battery was going (as displayed in the battery part of Settings).
I guess it's okay, but I'm used to a lot higher from my previous iPhone 4 and HTC Radar. But I guess they also didn't have 4.65" 720p displays
I've turned off Exchange push for now, as I don't really care about getting work emails on it anyway. Will see if that improves things, as read some vague topics saying that Exchange is a battery hog.

If one is considering the total screen on time, its actually about 2 hrs 18 min. (Double of 1hr 9 min). The % isn't measured according to time.

No problem. I've posted a topic to get others' opinions/battery life experiences, so I can stop hijacking this review thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356581
I'm still very impressed with 4g/LTE (when I can get it, that is) but I ran into a three Qualcomm engineers this weekend at a local San Diego hotel and among other things discussed was 5g and ever-increasing data capacities. Accordingly to the gentleman I spoke with, the technology for 300mbs (and even more) already exists in our devices--and up to 3 times faster in the lab(!)--but a combination of government regulations and matters of infrastructure inhibit us (citizens) from using the technology on a commercial scale. Current eta for this network is expected to stabilize in 2020.
I find this interesting for a couple reasons. First, it remains interesting to me how business and government intersect, particularly in the US, to produce cutting edge technological advances, and then see it (eventually) pour into greater society--it often varies depending on DOD and politcs.
However, despite the drawbacks, the work that arises from these relationship(s) is most often marked by success--in various respects--even considering the delayed roll outs or issues of quality. Eventually, they make their way into the hands of the general public, albeit at a (relative) increasingly slow rate.
(Of course, I'm leaving a great amount of information unstated or otherwise assumed, but I imagine those who may share my interest are likely well aware of the details.)
Second, and perhaps less interesting overall, but WTH are Internet providers going to do once LTE and eventually 5g reaches the major cities and becomes available to all consumers? Based on recent legal preceded, media companies like Netflix are going long on these providers and hence I wonder: are the IP providers working on advancements too? Or, are they going to continue to squeeze every last drop of value from the the current network structures via lobbying efforts that'll lead to... well you see the point. (Note that my points end up being interrelated.)
Anyhow, for those who may share interest, I'm curious--what are your thoughts?
Sent from my SM-N900T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I have no doubts about technology such as this is already existent. Considering some markets have the 20/20 lte which yields almost 100meg/sec, its just a matter of time. My Comcast internet at home is 100down/20up, and they have faster available too. I really don't think the service providers are worried about cell carriers being faster, well maybe the budget carriers, but they're in a whole different demographic.

My cable company provides 50Mb, but I'm fine with 25 I have ATM and frankly I have hard time to imagine need for 300Mb, even 4k video is much less, but I'll take it when it comes, even if only for bragging rights. I'm not sure about you guys, but there is rather very few websites I use on regular basis, that can actually feed data anywhere near my 25Mb speed and I know it's not on my side, so pretty much whole infrastructure will need to be updated. For example I read somewhere Netflix averages 3 -5 Mb, regardless of the reason that's slow even for good quality SD program and even 300Mb wouldn't help in this case at all. And since most traffic goes over land lines until the last stage between cell tower and phone, they better do something fast.
^^^ I agree 100%

Seriously over kill. They need to focus just on making LTE available everywhere I don't see a need for 300mb speed for anything in the near future. Right now I have 50 meg at my home and I can download movies in 20-30 minutes. Good enough for me.

What I have noticed as a user who has had a 300mbit line and even a 1gbps line downstream, is that NO ONE can push information that fast to you, so it becomes useless. After a while I started to question what the point of a faster connection was. Very few companies (Microsoft,Apple) were able to come close to saturating my connection but in the end...for what? So I don't have to wait another milli-second for that download to happen? Now on the other hand, some apps saturated that connection all the time and it was great (mostly Usenet,Torrents etc). But then you have these companies that monitor everything you do and end up sending you letters to stop doing such activities. So then again I start asking myself....what's the point? I know for sure that I wouldn't want a slow connection per say but I think that we are currently in a good position for what's available. Now, if only we can get better coverage and more consistent connections...that would be a better solution.
Hello experts,
Since didn't find any information I'm wondering if there is any app able to be used as sleep tracker on SWR50?
Thanks a lot
Enrico
You can try "Sleep as Android".

Well, thanks for anwsering.
The developer - Petr - of Sleep as Android told me that SWR50 is not compatible - by now - with it:
"[...] sorry about that but currently we have so far most issues on SWR50. The recent firmware update broke sleep tracking. Currently we are trying to fix this with our SWR50 users.
Definitely, we will also post all updates to the link I mentioned earlier. First it looked like SWR50 does not support sensor batching which would never allow us to get under 40% battery consumption per night. Also it has an accelerometer bug - the sesor cannot be set to lower frequencies - which makes it ratehr 70-80%... but the recent updates shows sensor batching is actually allowed, but it is broken. So we will se if some update in the future will make it working. But now it seems we have a good chance to run without batching on the watch with the next version, but consumption will probably be high - around 70-80%.. where with other Wear devices we get to 15%".
Suggestions? Any other SLEEP TRACKING that works on SWR50?
I really dont understand why Google and Sony made from us alpha testers of their system and watches.... Why is it possible that wristbands like MiBand can track sleep and walks for 30days with 10times smaller battery??? Technology is invented and as 15USD MBand shows - very cheap!
Google with actual version of Android Wear is on good way to kill this kind of watches.... Almost no SMS support, no email support, no calendar support, sleep and walk tracking almost unusable...)
If a smartwatch doesn't do what you don't buy one.Buy a fitness band.right now smart watches are just an extension of your phones
Unfortunatelly, nowadays are wear watches very bad phone extension. No way to see sms, email, calendar events, This must be essential part of system. No way to see weather, when IWANT to see weather. It is really crazy when google shows me weather almost every day around midnight, when I am in bed and it is impossible to block it.
Do you want to see older notification - no way. Do you want to edit notification (length and number of vibration) - no way... etc etc.
And Sony SW3 are sport watches, so tracking is essential part of their usage....
I get all the the notification from yahoo mail and gmail. I receive and reply to my wifes text messages without ever having to pick up my n6.And I can listen to music without my phone.
I've sent mine back, I am very unimpressed by it. I have a z3, lifelog isn't very good anyway, but this watch
doesn't sync properly with it, doesn't recognise sleep, and as stated, it is a very very cut down version of phone
facilities. You need to have your phone close to hand for the bluetooth to work, it's just a bit pointless at this
stage. Maybe in the future they will become more useful. Android Wear is very frustrating to use too. The battery
lost about 30 percent after a run in the watch, the only thing of interest was that it tracked my run without having
to ask it. A poor piece of technology, simply unecessary at this time.

Unnecessary at this time for YOU. Plenty of us are loving this watch and android wear in general. I haven't had any of the of issues you stated. Maybe you should of done more research before buying the watch.

Unfortunately, I'm one of the people having troubles with the watch. I did research, hence I bought the watch. The problem is that sony doesn't mind telling lies to consumers to get you to buy. They tell you about features that will come to you months after release as if they are already available. Sleep tracking is mentioned on the feature list, so is step counting.
In my case, steps are about a thousand off comparing steps on the watch and steps logged on lifelog. Sleep logging is shown in lifelog, however, to date, it never worked on my M8+SW50 combo.
I accepted that that's how sony does things. I'll only start enjoying my watch 6-12 months from now. The Ps3, psvita, PlayStation app and Ps4 proved this.
We wait....

I really hope, that Sony (and google) will release new version of wear OS much faster then new version of Android.... Because v 5.0 Lollipop was released more then year after 4.4 I am little bit afraid, because Google synchronized numbering of version od Android and Wear OS.

If you bought this watch with the mindset that it would be a fitbit kind of device, then imo you didn't do your research. Maybe Sony advertised extra features but with knowing how all wear devices have been in the last year, I didnt expect that much in that department since that's not there main area of focus Yes, android wear devices have the ability but it's certainly not their primary function. I would definitely suggest getting a fitbit. Trust me, I wish this watch had those extra fitness features down better but I didn't know buy this watch thinking it would excel in that department.
But the watch does do step counting. All android wear devices do it but they're not the most accurate. But again, that's not the main function of these watches.

True, I also knew that the functions are not primary features. I hoped to buy an all in one product because once again, that is what sony led me to believe. I used Fitbit charge before, maybe that's why I'm disappointed at the inaccuracies etc.
This is just to inform people who are intending to buy the sw50 with similar thinking. They need to know that it's not a bad product, however, it doesn't excel in some features that are advertised.
If you want accurate fitness/sleep tracking performance, then go for products specifically designed for that.
Lesson learned .

Exactly! I'm still waiting for an all in one as well. But I think the Sony watch does a decent job in doing it all. There's not one out there though that does it all prefect yet either. It's really either a smart watch with some fitness features or a fitness band that excels in step counting, etc but with no smartphone extension. Maybe with updates it'll get better. I think it's more a limitation of google fit software in lollipop in its algorithm in calculating steps rather than Sony.

Same here, no any problems exept the same (steps are inaccurate, cards are uneditabe etc) and the sleep tracker never works, exept today, im bit sick so i slept like 18 hours barely moving at all (must sleep on my back so i can breath) and when i woke up and checked SW3, It said my daily sleeping goal was suceeded ! then i checked lifelog and there it was, 14:11 sleep last night ! not really accurate but something at least and it actually works, i dunno how it counts it sleeping or how it now decided to work but man it does something... i thing it has something to do with not moving much (but still some) at a certain period of time before it thinks you are sleeping...

Hmm. According to the release notes, this version of Sleep As Android made yesterday includes a fix for the Smartwatch 3. I'm not seeing it in the Play store yet, but I guess that's probably coming soon. I installed the apk to test it out and got some conflicting information. When I started sleep tracking the notification on the phone says "Sorry, SmartWatch 3 is not yet fully supported!", however, the chart in the app shows movement from the watch's accelerometer. Seems like it should work, but I guess I won't know for sure until tomorrow morning.
I'm trying asap and will let you know.
I even get the message about SWR50 (not fully suported): I think it is because of huge battery drain.
It seems to have worked perfectly. My only complaint is that the Lucid dreaming vibrations woke me up, but that is neither here nor there.
I have tried Sleep as Android beta (mentioned in this forum) today and it is still unusable. Battery drain about 70 percent during 9 hours in bed is really awful. It is more then 200 times more then MiBand needs for the same. I am really afreaid that it is hardware bug of SW3 which will never be resolved.

Oh. So I guess it's kind of subjective at this point. I consider it usable, I just have to put the watch on the charger a half hour before bed so I know it has enough charge for the night.
