So last night, i reboot my desire and it freezes just after displaying the lock screen. I eventually remove the battery and power it back on only to find out it's stuck at the htc logo screen.
I can get into the bootloader and fastboot, but if i try to start clockwork recovery it just goes back to the htc logo.
I tried just flashing with an official RUU but it says i have less than 30% battery remaining even if it's full.
Rooted with Unrevoked and running Defrost 5.8, radio 5.09.05.30.2, unbranded desire on Vodafone Romania.
Any ideas? And think i could take it back to Vodafone and ask them to just reflash it to stock?
It seems i'm also unable to use ADB as the phone is detected by windows but it doesnt show up when i do a "adb devices".
Anyone, please?
Just following this up in case it helps someone else.
I was able to fix it myself eventually. The 30% battery issue only happened my Windows 7 64-bit machine. I tried an official HTC RUU on a 32-bit Windows XP and it worked fine, i'm now back to the stock froyo for Desire.
The RUU i used was:
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.10.405.2_R_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_142828_signed
Can't post a link, but just google that and you should be fine.
Hey I'm having same problem I have telus htc desire. His did have fixed it can u help me. I'll donate
Well from what i can tell, it's almost impossible to find an original Telus rom to flash, and since i don't know anything about the network or it's practices i'm not sure what would happen if you just flash a generic WWE rom.
I'm sorry i can't be of more help on this but i won't make the problem potentially worse by giving you instructions that might not work for you.
Hopefully someone else around here knows more.

Hi all,
before I was running the LeeDroid ROM, but if I played with my phone while is on charger, sometimes it would restart itself couple of times and then get stuck at the HTC logo. The only solution was to reinstall ROM.
Thinking that the ROM may be cause of this, I unrooted my phone and installed the latest generic version. I also installed the latest update, 2.10.
Anyway, this morning while playing with my phone while on charger, again it rebooted itself and now I am again stuck at the HTC logo.
I cannot boot in recovery either.
I tried following this instructions, created goldcard, placed the PB99IMG.zip file on the card, the phone reads the file but then the update fails with reason "main version is older".
My question is: can someone help me? I don't need to install another ROM or anything, I just need to boot up my device.
I was thinking of reinstalling the latest ROM, but cannot find the RUU. I found one, but again I was getting that the version I am trying to update to is oldest then the one I currently have.
Thanks in advance.
I also cannot boot in recovery. So the only open options I see are either to reinstall the ROM through EXE (which I don't have and can't find, because it's the latest version) or through PB99IMG.zip.
The guide you followed won't work because you installed 2.10.405.2. However, if your phone was rebooting randomly after you installed an official RUU it has a fault, you should contact HTC.
I cannot contact HTC because the phone is bought in UK and I live in Macedonia.
I don't need to downgrade or get root or anything, I would just like to reinstall the OS.
BTW, I found why my phone was rebooting.. bad USB cable. It didn't hold tight while charging, so probably that was causing the phone to reboot.
Bloody great! I solved my issue.
What I did was:
1. Installed this ROM - I know it's O2 branded, but all I needed was to be able to boot up my device.
2. And then, followed this instructions to downgrade/debrand.
I'm happy again
I've recently rooted (unrevoked) and flashed my HTC Desire with Cynogen 6.1.
This worked for the first couple of days until my phone suddenly turned off. Now I cannot get it to boot past the white HTC bootscreen, unless I flash it again with a custom rom (tried Cynogen again, OpenDesire and Miui) with a complete factory reset. Then it will boot once into Android, but after a reboot the same problem occurs.
I've been reading numerous topics on this and similar problems and it seems I have to unroot my phone. Is this correct? On some sites there are warnings you should not root/unroot with a certain hboot version. Is this still the case?; because the unrevoked method states that it rootes no matter what the hboot version is.
So I'm planning to go back to stock now by following the unlocker.com unroot tutorial and flashing a htc europe stock rom (I have the HTC Desire from T-Mobile Dutch).
I'm posting this topic to double check, because I do not want to brick my phone completely
Thanks in advance.
You are right, just flash a stock rom and start rooting again. It doesn't matter anymore which boot version you are using. You have a go
Ok, thank you, will do and will post my results here ;-) I understand from you answer that unrooting and rooting again may fix this issue?
It's possible, you could also try a different SD card. Maybe that is also causing the problems, but unroot first and if that doens't solve it, try switching your sd card. Make sure you use at least a class 4.
Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my Desire HD. I searched around this forum and others didn't really find me the information I'm looking for, so hopefully someone here can help me out.
Anyway, my phone downloaded the OTA Gingerbread update last night. After the download completed, it rebooted. Did the install and then showed me the red triangle with exclaimation mark. Did a battery pull after about 20 minutes of leaving it at the triangle screen, and now I get nothing but an HTC logo.
Now, I have not modified the phone at all in terms of rooting, turning it to S-OFF or anything like that. I used the base recovery to try and to a factory reset, format data/cache, and nothing works. I'm still just stuck at the white screen with HTC logo.
I know with the Galaxy S series, you can put the phone in download mode and use Odin to flash it. Is there anything similar I can do with this phone? Or any way to get another ROM to install, or even back to factory? Or something similar to Windows Phone where you use the RUU file?
I just got the phone from a friend and unlocked it, and really want to use it
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks all!
Hi.
Why don`t you try to find a RUU file and reflash with it?
But before reflash, please find will this RUU can work into your mobile operator.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
I had a few problems with my HTC Desire he won't start after I did an update of Insertcoin (I did this update, like every other update).
So I thought that I had to re-root my phone.. Bad idea I think.
Now my sd-card is formatted so I don't have my gold-card anymore
and I can't boot my phone.
When I boot it, in the top right and left corner and bottem left and right corner there is the debugging logo (so the triangle with the '!') and in the middle of the screen HTC logo.
EDIT: I also cannot go to the bootloader or fastboot I can only see the screen above nothing else.
EDIT2: I tried and original RUU but I don't know which one I had to use..
I don't know what to do, so please help me!
Sounds like you've flashed the wrong RUU. This happened to me, I've got a Vodafone Desire, flashing the newest HTC Europe RUU restored my HBOOT but still didn't boot (so you could try that I guess), so I used fastboot to flash recovery and then a new ROM. Good luck to you.
Oh yeah also, if you've installed a custom HBOOT and then tried to use a RUU it may be the cause of the problem since it wouldn't have been able to flash the system partition. Although it doesn't appear as to be working, I tried to flash the stock HBOOT through fastboot when my phone was like that, and after the RUU finished installing I did have the stock alpharev one and not my cm7 one.. Just something that might come in useful.
I've tried this solution here but it doesn't work for me.
Yes, it's working again.
This is the solution.
I downloaded this RUU and install it and now it works
Hi
I recently purchased a second hand htc desire locked on Orange UK.
The phone seemed to be running fine (not 100% sure though) at the beginning. The first thing I did was to unlock the phone, by using the method posted on the giffgaff site.
Everything seemed to be running fine at the beginning, but after a while the phone started rebooting randomly. It escalated to the point to where it would not go past the HTC logo, and just went into a reboot circle. The only thing that helps in this situation is taking out the battery for a couple of minutes and than it would boot up.
I figured it was a software issue, so I tried installing a custom ROM. It took a while but I managed to ROOT the device and install the CyanogenMod 7 (latest). The installation was successful but unfortunately the reboot issue hasn't changed at all.
I would have wanted to reverse the unlocking procedure that I did at the beginning, but there's nothing about how to do it.
The other possible solution I found, is to do a RUU. I wasn't able to find a ROM made for Orange UK version, so I went with RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865.exe figuring that that is the generic one for EU. The problem is that from what I can tell Cyanogen doesn't have HTC Sync mode for USB connectivity, and when I try to do it without it gives me an USB connection error. I checked and from what I can tell I have the drivers installed for it.
I'm stuck at this point so any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S.: I also made a gold card for the phone but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with it.
-edit-
I also noticed that it tends to reboot especially when I try to enter recovery mode
-edit2-
In all fairness I never managed to access recovery mode from the HBOOT menu. It always took me to the HTC Logo, and then went into a reboot cycle. The way that I managed to access the Recovery mode was either through rom manager or direct recovery reboot from cyanogenmod
Have a look in bortak's troubleshooting guide and follow instruction which applies to your problem
Is it PVT1 model? Check hboot/fastboot screen
