The sound quality for the desire when video recording even in 720p is really tinny and bad. Anyone know how to increase the quality?

As we all know the sound quality when you take a video is terrible... Is there anyway to edit the video to fix the sound, or is there something that can be done to have good sound quality when taking a new video???
Editing the video after its taken would be pointless, you can't increase the quality once its already recorded. The only thing I can think of is being sure to use the highest recording quality setting. I'm not sure if it helps the audio quality any though. We are limited my the quality of the microphone that comes with the phone.
Hi! I'd like to know if it's possible to change the video compression codec .3gp. Isn't this a contraddiction? The phone can record at good quality 720p but the compression is so old and makes the video looks worse. In comparison with the galaxy s desire hd videos seems worse, even if it's camera is better. Thank you!

I attend a lot of concerts and whenever I record video the picture is quite decent but the sound quality is awful. It seems like the recorded sound level is too high (too much gain), so the sound is very much distorted.
It is not related with the rom, I'm using RSK team Special Edition ROM and I had the same issue on stock Froyo.
Is there any way to fix this or can someone recommend an app to get better sound in videos?
