EVO 4G keyboard issue - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wanted to ask this question.. Here's the story, My keyboard is having issues just little issues where the it isn't as responsive and when typing say.... You or Yeah, it doesn't seem to pick up all the key strokes and I'll end up with yeh or ou, then I rooted it to 2.2 and all is good. However when I flashed the Ava-FroyoV9Final rom which is amazing!! I am getting the same keyboard issues as I was before it was rooted. Any solutions you all may have would be great. Sorry if I am missing something but I haven't been doing this for long.
Thanks again for any help on resolving this matter.

Try flashing a kernel on top of that rom. Like Netarchy's or King's. Should fix the problem, just seems like a FPS issue.

I figured that's what it was but didn't really know which kernel to flash. Do you happend to know what kernel comes with the rooted 2.2 software? Cause that seems to work just fine.

Any sense 2.2 kernel should work. King's kernel #11 is out, you can try that one. All kernels unlock FPS so it's all good.

Whats up guys? been following this site for a while.. but never joined lol because i didnt have a decent phone.. Well now i have a evo that i just rooted with unrevoked, as well as i have flashed over to Amon_ra. Now my question is (besides i will do a lot more reading but..) What do i do next? i am wanting my phone to run as it did stock (no glitching or crash's) I want to overclock the evo for more speed, I heard of cm6 & turbo ... (not sure of the full name) is pretty insane fps wise and the quickness it allows. If i could have figured this out by searching, i am sorry i am just very persistant lol.
Thanks again,
you guys are AWESOME!

Well you can always just run the Stock rooted ROM and find a good kernel compatible with it.
try myns warm twopointtwo. wait for rls5 to come out or it will be glitchy with your hardware.
welcome to the root crew.
Welcome
If you are looking for something similar to stock I would personally try "Sprint Lovers Rom". You can install any kernel you want and download "Setcpu" to overclock your phone. My favorite rom is Myns Warm two point two, but I am waiting until he releases his next version which should be compatible with the new Radios, PRI, PRLS etc. You might also want to stay away from any of the Gingerbread based roms until they are fully ported over and bug free.
The rom you mentioned in your post is Cyanogen Mod. Although this is a good rom, it is also an AOSP rom which doesn't have HTC Sense. Therefore if your looking for something similar to stock but with all the tweaks and goodies you should choose a Sense Based Rom.
Best advise is to just keep flashing & flashing until you find the Rom that you like best. Everyone's tastes are different and there is no "Best Rom" out there, it just personal preference.
Hope this helps
Thank you all, who responded I am gonna try out the "Sprint lovers"
"Myna" roms far as the kernel I am not to sure about those just yet. Need to read up still.. lol So for now I am very open to suggestions . I look forward to expanding my knowledge on here with ya'll. I just don't want to brick my phone, I will die! Lol I love my evo!
P.s do I do the "Back up's" and "Nandroid" back up's, when changing roms and kernels?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
first, DEFINETALLY DO A NANDROID BACKUP. as a general rule, backup whenever you like the state your phone is in (before you make a mod) and always have at least one backup handy always. titanium backups are helpful for changing roms because you can get all your app's data back. helpful on games and the like.
for kernels, i would suggest netarchy's 4.3. he says its is beta, but thats just because net likes his work to be perfect. it is as stable as anythign else. it has a nice sbc tweak as well. test many kernels. those are particular by phone. that is why people with the same phone get different battery life. what works well on one phone is terrible on another. so try netarchy's, maybe kingx's (off forum), and some others. i cant think of any more. i personally use netarchys though.

[Q] G2/SenseUI/Overclock?

Hi Guys n Ladies!
Im new to xda and allow me to say HI! =D
Im here struggling to find information regarding thigs id like to do to my phone!
Currently I have Tmobile G2 with CM7- Overclocked! Im not entirely noob, there are alot of questions i need answered but ill let google search do that!
Now, Im giving up.. cant find answers to things that im looking for!
I want SesneUI ROM that can be overclocked! So far ive been able to flush SenseUi roms but only at stock speed at 806mhz!
Is this possible? Is this a stupid question perhaps? lol ..
Anyone that can point finger and lead me to right direction or maybe supplying me with some linxx?
Thanks in Advance
Check out Virtuous ROM. I used it for a while and it worked very well. I believe they offer 2 different kernels. 1 is slightly overclocked, and the other you can use SetCPU with to get to the settings you want. At least thats the way it was a month or two back. I'd recommend Virtuous. Check out the Android Development section for more info.
Are you only looking for Gingerbread Sense ROMs? I don't think there are any kernels that support OC for Gingerbread/Sense yet. But I'm sure that's being worked on.
If you aren't asking about Gingerbread specifically, there are at least a couple of options. As already mentioned, Virtuous ROM has a couple kernel choices with different OC options.
Also, I know from personal experience that the stock Desire Z ROM works and overclocks just fine with the Godspeed kernel (and possibly others).
Great, Thanks Guys!
I Downloaded the Virtuous Rom + Advanced Kernel 2.1.2 and have found couple of things that are not quite properly operating. For Example: LockScreen sometimes stays Black(Screen Doesnt Turn on to unlock) and Homescreen Personalization Button wont operate or react (wont do anything) which is not a biggie, also bluetooth not quite sure if it works, because i couldnt link my headset! Any thoughts??? Overall its great, Exactly what i was looking for.. first, I didnt know how to flash kernel but youtube did the trick!
Thanks Again!!

[Q] what rom is everyone running?? =) and why?

Lol...
Title says it all...
What rom are u running?
And if u want to say why, go ahead lol
Thanks =)
There is new thread like this (what is the best/most stable/your favorite ROM) created about once or twice a week. So you can just use the search function to find a bunch of opinions without have to wait for people to reply to this one.
Personally, I'm back to Bell stock/shipped ROM with Godspeed kernel. Its the only combination I've tried so far that seems to be completely free of SODs for me (screen of death, screen randomly won't turn on no matter what, unless you pull the battery). But this seems to be a fairly uncommon issue (and not yet solved) that most people don't need to worry about. The stock ROM is also plenty stable, and the Sense camera app is better than Android stock.
Virtuous is good if you want a clean (no bloat) Sense Froyo ROM. Very stable, but not much different than stock Sense, aside from some optimizations and a few added features like trackpad button wake. Lots of people like CM7. Cool if you want the latest and greatest Gingerbread features, and CM extras. But it still has a few annoying bugs.
Mods, can this thread either be locked or merged with the other threads similar to this? Thanks.
im using meXdroidMod meXperia remeX
its just awesome, experia arc merged with cm nightly, just is fantastic

FRIDAY IS D DAY.....well D710 day anyway

My Epic comes to me 2moro. Just checking to see if you have any input on which ROMS are running the best, known device bugs, or general tips....
CHIME IN!
i highly suggest Viper Rom 2.1...
but your gonna have to do some research buddy...
I've been on starburst 1.8 rom, been running well. Only changes I've made have been going to the stable lost kernel 1.0.2.2, and adding nothin but the honey theme. All's good in the hood, slight bug with experimental kernel and GPS navigation, but easily fixed

Thanks guys, was hoping for more chiming though. I always research...and will research but I was just trying to get a feel for any roadbloacks or red flags, and of course Obvious hotness...
Thanks guys
viper has a few new features that the other roms dont have as of yet.
Viper and Starburst are stock roms that have been optimized and things like that.
Like I said viper has alot of new things (oc script, battery calibrating script, etc) but because its relatively new some of the mods arent working yet. Some of the themes arent compatible either.
Starburst is supported the most, so most of the mods and themes are based off of it.
My personal preference is Viper, when I was using starburst I was getting a ton of random reboots, where I get none with Viper. (have not tried the last starburst update)
Starburst does have all the mods already cooked in to it. Viper is quickly catching up though.
Both have great devs who try to respond to every issue and request. I think you should give them both a go
Stock rooted deodexed rom with LoSt kernel!
Sent from my Galaxy S2
I would suggest using Stardust rom
Sent from my Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch
Starburst 1.8 stable is really good no random reboots
Lockscreen mod is awesome. Haven't tried viper yet.
I use the new aosp rom with the ICS theme that supposrts it. Works really well. Also I had starburst 1.8 and I think I liked that a lot better, probably because its more stock. I think the major roms on this phone; viper, starburst, aosp, and aemod roms all work very well.
I would suggest keeping it stock for a week just to make sure you're not getting goofy problems first. Then start having fun with roms.
That's more like it!
So far I ran Midnight, starB, and Viper. StarB seems to give the most for what I look for. I know on the EPIC, viper was pretty killer through EB13 so I will keep my eye on Viper for the Epic T. I was suprised by midnight...not what it use to be.
What is the best combo
Did you have any issues with FC's on either Starburst or Midnight ROM? I'd like to figure out the best combination of Kernel, CWM and ROM. There is a lot out there and would like to find a good combination.
On the "Sprint" Epic 4g Touch.
Thanks.

Thanks, Maybe this weekend I will try again.
I always stay stock to for a lil bit to ..it lets you get a good feel for everything. I just moved to the et4g about a week ago after a good while of a evo which i did the same thing with. Loving this phone so far.

does every ROM have issues? any rom not have an issue? wtf

it seems every rom i try recently has some sort of frustrating problem, i tried the new cm 7.1 stable when it first came out and my phone would not turn on sometimes, i tried mikg 2.xx what ever and i wouldnt receive text messages from some people, i tried a stock team nocturnals and my phone would just random reboot and get stuck in the bootanimation and i would have to pull the battery every time, now im on the "out of this world" stock nocturnal rom and sometimes i cant recieve picture text messages is there any rom out there that really has no problems? if so point me in the right direction. :/
I get the feeling rooting and stuff isn't for you. But you should try the link below and you SHOULD be able to run cm7 or decks stable. I hope your troubles go away
Having trouble with AOSP? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295702
If you don't like pushing the edge with experimental ROMs try stock rooted ROMs. Swag has the best in my opinion. BTW don't complain, these guys work for free.

sounds more like sever user error, stick to a stock rooted rom.
click on the link in my sig to find out about aosp roms and kernels, in my thread there's a link to Decks gb rom which atm has absolutely not 1 prob. it's really smooth and fast and has great battery life ^_^
I agree with the post about user error. I've tried all of those ROMs and they each have little things about them that I do and do not like. But nothing is perfect. ROMs are works in progress and Devs are constantly working to improve their ROMs. If you are flashing everything correctly and are not suffering from user error then it may be a hardware issue.
