Is there a reason why when I try typing G2 or Vision, the new tmobile G2 doesn't come up as an option? G2 only pulls up the HTC Hero, but nothing for the newest phone.
Yeah it's pretty damn annoying.
I noticed that also, another problem is that the G2 isn't put in the android section :/ It's probably best that you bookmark the G2 forum, that's what I did
I had found it by manually scrolling through and selecting T-mobile branded phones, not HTC.

Could this be for current owners as well?
Slightly worrying as I've got one from T-Mobile. Couple of things keeping me from being too worried:
1. I haven't noticed anything awry yet
2. If there is a glitch, it seems to be software based, so flashing the phone with/when the generic HTC ROM is officially publicy available (which I intended to do, anyway) should fix it.
load of bull because its available in shops now
I think it's likely that we've got phones with bugs and will get OTA update soon.
i wonder what about the unlocked and unbranded phones from mobiles.co.uk ?
maybe they had the t-mob versions and just unlocked them ?

Maybe so. lets wait and see. if its a software bug, i can live with that as it can get rooted/updated but if its a hardware issue.
well were ****ed then
My only grief until now is the absence of the voice-to-text facility. HTC have specifically mentioned this on desirehtc.com -> Android. They mention that "Rather excitingly, it brings us into a realm where voice-to-text is a reality in all text fields. Imagine sending texts or emails simply by talking to your phone. Now do it, we're there." How the t-mobile desire version did not get it is beyond me at the moment.
I find it strange that they only included the HTC Touch keyboard and removed the standard Android one. I ran both on my G1 and it was each to switch input methods with a simple long hold in a text entry field.

Can't say I have seen anyone complaining of any problems yet.
Can't be that serious can it!
If it's a software problem it will soon be fixed. If it's a hardware problem I guess we will have our phones replaced.
I wouldn't worry about it. I would rather have the phone now with the seemingly trivial problem.
I flashed the Generic ROM anyway but I wouldn't recommend it as it's not possible to revert to the T-mobile ROM if you need to.

a custom rom should fix that
I've had my DHD for a few days now.
Originally it was locked to 3 and sold to me as brand new and still sealed in its box. All I've done is put my old sim (from my iphone) in and unlock it to my carrier (O2) and installed a few apps, etc,
However I've noticed that the majority of my calls are goiung direct to VM and that I'm not getting alerted to new VM's.
I've seen a few threads around (here and other forums) that talk about this being "the norm" when gprs is in use - either fore of background use.
So my question is ... how do I identify what is using gprs or is there some way of turnign it on/off whenever I want to use it? Not being able to receive calls just because I checked my emails or similar is ludicrous. Never had this issue with my iphone ...
Any help for this HTC / Android newbie would be great.

Aww borrox - thought I had so sorry about that
I flashed my phone with cyanogen mod 7. I couldn't activate because I was no longer on my Alltel network. So I RUU back to my stock ROM and everything is good, except I still can't activate my phone. I'm stuck using my old lg scoop. Can anyone help me out? Do I need to call customer service? And if I do, what do I say to keep them from finding out that I rooted my phone.
This is a replacement phone and I activated it and rooted the day of, but when I flashed, it all messed up so I activated my old phone. I don't know if that makes a difference.
Also, when I try to activate my desire through the Alltel website, I get this message "Unfortunately, there's an error with your request. The ESN/MEID is associated with another wireless carrier, a wireless Internet card, an analog phone, or a non-e911 compliant phone. For assistance, please call Customer Service."
What do you mean by "activate"?
Like dialing *228 and being able to use the phone. Like making calls and such. I had to activate my old phone because my desire was stuck on splash screen, but now that I done the RUU it's fine. I just can't activate it to use it.
You shouldn't need to activate it?... Never heard of this before. Not needed to do anything like that for mine. Have a look around the forums.
+1 what GoogleJelly said. Never heard of such thing.
Sent from my customized HTC Desire using TTP
I did and found nothing. I need to do it because when my desire was stuck on the splash screen i couldn't fix it that day so I activated my old one so i could have a working phone. Now when I try to activate my desire again, I get the above messages.
psiloveyoum0re,
Am I correct in assuming that the phone is not a GSM based phone, rather it's a CDMA based phone ?
Yeah, activation isnt for GSM (Sim Card) phones, only CDMA ones.
That I do know, but how to help - sorry, no idea (we are all GSM here in the UK)..
Yes, correct. It is a CDMA phone.
Hi everyone. I know certain carriers support HD-Voice (AMR-WB), for example Telus/Koodo and I believe Rogers/Fido... unsure about Bell.
My question is, how can you enable AMR-WB? You can find it in the service menu but it says "OFF."
Tried searching but could not find anything on the i747. I would love to have this feature as sound quality is 100x better with it enabled (if calling another user on the same network with HD enabled handset, ie Nexus 4).

I tried everything I could think of and could not get it working. My guess is the international version you can enable just not the Canadian version.
The point is moot anyhow, the person I know who I was trying to get this working for ended up getting the S4 Mini, which *does* have HD Voice enabled (in Canada at least!).
Works great on my Nexus 5 as well

either way could you link me to what you used? like guides or youtube video. From my understanding it's in the secret dialer menu the option. I know T-mobile phones have it but I'm sure about the i747
Hi, I've come from a Z2 as couldn't get on with it. So far I'm very impressed with G3, though when in the shop I saw it had an option on the lockscreen to tap the numbers 1-4 in succession and the numbers appear in a bubble and they move across the screen as you tap a number. I presume it was a version on knock on. I assume it isn't carrier specific but I do not have it on my unbranded G3 (Its runnning V10L). I'd hate to come across as a noob but has this option been replaced by updated firmware? The only other option I can think of is it is some sort of demo function for use in stores.
Thanks for any assistance...
Ross
Carrier Specific
Well to be honest I've flashed almost all the firmware that LG has released and I have never seen that before, so I'm thinking that it may have to be carrier specific and by the way I have the D855 unlocked international version. I hope that I helped you.
Hi I am pretty sure that is a demo function to show people how the knock-on works.
For the real thing, it will not be much of a pass-code if the phone shows you the sequence to knock!
