[Q] Stock ROM + 5 point multitouch? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm more than likely rooting my Evo shortly.
I'm trying to determine if I'll even be able to accomplish what I want from the root, can anyone help me out with the following questions?
1) Can I run the stock HTC rom with a kernel that will allow more than two point multitouch?
2) If the above setup is not possible is there something very similar?
Overall my performance and battery life has been great with the latest update, I'd just like some customization options and superior multitouch.
I've been doing google and forum searches on this topic on and off for a while and find it difficult to sort out what information is current, most of the results with solutions are from before the latest OTA with the 30fps cap removed.
I'm also unsure what rooting is going to do to all my paid apps that are not associated with android market (gameloft for example)
Edit/
it seems I won't be rooting tonight afterall; Unrevoked is offline.

[Q] Application taking screenshots of phone.

Hi everyone,
So I have my Dropbox camera upload on to increase my limit (I use GDrive as well) and I just found out something I find peculiar but which might be super ovious to others.
The thing is in camera uploads, I see that a ton of phone screenshots have been taken. I haven't taken them myself so I find I tried doing a search but in vain.
Does anybody have knowledge of what process or application is doing that? I tried looking in permissions and didnt see it (I have a LOT of apps installed so quite the challenge.) I also did a google search and a forum search but anything with "take screenshot" or "taking screenshots" directs me towards "how to" and not "what is".
Thanks in advance for the help.
For reference, I was on ICS (4.0.4?) until the maguro Jellybean (4.1.1) update came in. My phone was previously rooted and I had lost root with update so I rerooted (was a bit of a challenge as the su.zip that I used previously wasn't working but the one found in the rooting guide did).
Thanks,
Steven

[Q] Installing KangBang 3.0

Hello XDA,
I've been following you for years. I started following you with my first Android phone, an HTC Hero. I've been very happy to be able to use a community ROM that made a far better experience than the stock ROM.
I recently got a brand new HTC One V PrimoU, and I'd like to make it my new polyvalent tool.
I'm not a noob in computers, kernel/linux related stuff, electronics, networking. I already tried some ROMs. In fact, I started with KangBang 3.0 (the same version as now I think), but both WiFi and BlueTooth were not working. Android could not even detected the WiFi MAC address, so I guess it was a driver or wireless chip firmware related problem. I think I was the only one affected, so it was maybe a bad flash or I used the wrong kernel. I did'nt investigate more at the time, but if it happens again to me, I'll send some system/kernel logs.
I then tried AOKP, had a great (really) experience with it, except that the Jack plug sound quality was awful. No bass, only mid/high tones. I even thought my speakers were dead at first, but then tried with headphones. Now, I want to try KangBang again, because that ROM was good, and fast, just missing WiFi.
TL;DR
I'd like to ask some precise questions about KangBang and the HTC One V.
I initially wanted to ask in the ROM dev thread, but can't since I'm a new user, so I ask here. Sorry if the questions are stupid/simple/answered, but let's make a clear base, with precise interrogations and answers, so that they will never be asked again
The kernel is included in the .zip file. Still, do we need to flash manually ? Or will the Aroma installer handle that ?
What about ROM Manager ? Is it recommended to use or is it a good way to brick a phone as I heard ?
Does this ROM change the base Android system and file structure ? Would it be compatible with a side-by-side installation of a Linux system such as Debian ? (To see what I mean by side by side installation of Linux, search Debian Kit for Android on Google, as I can't post links)
Also, I'd like to tell ROM makers these advices (don't take them bad, I you think I'm wrong about them there's no problem, just tell me why) :
It would not be a bad idea to give a simple statistic about the ROM : the load average with the ROM installed on an idle and clean phone. That would give a good indication of idle power consumption and ressource wasting.
I see that users reporting problems with their devices NEVER include any kind of debug information. Maybe you should ask for them, just because by searching for this debug information they might solve the problem themselves. Most Android systems and kernels report a LOT of information, that we can access with simple commands such as dmesg.
Last but not least, I would like to thank you, ROM developers and XDA users for allowing me to play this way with my phone, and to make it work exactly the way I want.
Hugo G.,
ummm this device has kangbang?? (btw questions go into q&a )
so i'll move onto the TL;DR which i was grateful for
1) The rom thread should say what kernel but yes, we don't have s-off so flashed manually
2) Ignore rom manager don't touch it
3) think of it as the differences say with debian vs ubuntu vs mint all basically debian but all with they're own differences (pros and cons)
also about the "suggestions" to the devs, that will NEVER go down well, why should YOU suggest to use what to put in the threads also i know in my threads i ASK for logcats time and time again...
hope this helps
if you need more info i'll be welcome to add more, but 1st i need sleep BADLY

[Q] LG LU6200 LTE Root/CWM/CM 10.1

Hi!
I am quite new to the Android world. I just got a LG LU6200 LTE, the Korean one. It is running 2.3.5!
There are a lot of issues with the messaging and the Korean Carriers bloatware.
I stumbled on this site http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2453565 and am planning to flash this ROM.
I need your help regarding the following things:
1. Are there any firmware updates that I need to do prior to the installation process? I haven't made any updates. The software is exactly the same as it came out of the box.
2. Rooting: I am on stock 2.3.5 I read somewhere that I need to upgrade to ICS Engineer Version(?) and then try rooting? How do I go about it?
3. Clockwork Mod Recovery : I think after the rooting part, I can do this, even then, can I just install the latest version of CWM, from their XDA thread, or do I need to use some other older version?
4. What are the best ROMs in terms of stability for this particular phone? I am not a power user and I just want the phone to work. A good battery life would be a plus though. Also, I read somewhere that there are issues with message character limits, hope I can avoid that with a good ROM.
----------
I am sorry if this post seems redundant, but the ones I read were more than a 15 months old and I fear the information given in that would be outdated.
---------
Also, I will update the post with all the relevant information I receive for this process, to help others in the same endeavour.
Thank you for your time!

[Q] Rhodium ROM dump

The company I work for uses a horrible old product called Cognito.
We are developing an Android App to replace this but in the meanwhile we have a problem - within our budget we can only run this on Rhodium devices and with specific ROMS.
We have trouble getting decent Rhodiums and finding ones with the correct ROM is even harder. I now have a box of them with the wrong ROMs.
I have searched around for the specific ROMs we need but it seems that mos of the download links I can find have gone.
Even when I can find a ROM that seems to be OK, there always seem to be other issues.
I think the following ROMs should work (in theory):
- 1.86.401.4 (67102) WWE
- 1.14.161.6 (50207) WWE
I figure the next step would be to dump a working ROM and write that back to the other devices.
Can anyone tell me in simple steps how I can achieve this? I have started looking into ROM kitchens but it has far more detail than I think I need and I feel a bit swamped with it all.
Thanks
Update
I have managed to get the RAW files from a working device using this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501871
However, I cannot find any tools to put these back together. All the links seem to be dead
I know this is an old thread, but did you ever figure out how to dump the a rom from a working phone and restore it again?
I have a TP2 Rhodium 100 set up with WM6.5 just like it should be(with all the tweaks and apps), and I'm going to give it to family - But I don't really like to have to set it up again all over, so a way to make a rom dump and restore it would be really nice
Its now 2015 - there must be something (I have searched and all threads and post seem to be either dead or the links don't work or the programs are not available anymore).

Currently on Oreo, December 1st patch

Hey team,
I'm very new to working with smart phone bootloaders and flashing different ROM's. Currently I have only ever played with ADB a little bit, have never come close to flashing another ROM/firmware, let alone rooting.
Here's the thing, is that I've very interested in running a couple operating systems on my S7 Active, however it seems that if I am on Oreo, this process becomes much more difficult.
I come here for 2 reasons, first is that I need points to ask questions in other forums. I figure here is the best place to start on getting answers and where to look for information.
My second reason is so that I may get some help / information on how to get my S7 Active set up for using at least 2 operating systems - Regular Oreo, as well as Android's PostMarketOS. I am a new user, so I cannot post a link, however you can find it at reddit r/PostMarketOS. I am fully aware that I will likely need to build my own version of PostMarketOS. I'm not here for help with this, so much as I am here for getting help to prepare my S7 Active for this process.
So, I suppose to start, my questions are as follows:
1. Am I stuck with Oreo?
2. While I have unlocked OEM in developer settings, I feel that there's more to unlocking the bootloader - is there information for Oreo on how to do this?
3.I understand that there is root for Android N (7.0), however I have read that you cannot downgrade to (7.0). Furthermore, I am not sure if this would even be necessary.
To give a bit more information, to create the PostMarketOS for Android, it must be created using Linux, and I have a link to post, however I am a new user, the guide for creating PostMarketOS is on the sidebar of Reddit.
Hopefully I can get some help, but I would be happy with just some resources on where to go about starting/finding information. I'm a total noob in this regard, but I am a quick learner and motivated to get my S7 Active to not run so laggy... Plus it would be fun to use 2 operating systems
If you need any other information, I'm happy to find and give it.
