Since I updated to 3.29.651.5, the Sense widgets (Friendstream, Calendar, Bookmarks etc) have a strange problem where there is a static translucent image of the widget text/picture/calendar and then when I scroll down the text scrolls normally but the translucent image of the original text stays put. It's kind of hard to describe... Basically the widget looks and behaves normally except there is a translucent static image of the text (or images or calendar) behind it. What could be causing this? Any ideas of how to fix this?
I have a rooted, (mostly) stock EVO that I just updated to 3.29.651.5. I used the method (described here and at androidcentral) of manually downloading the stock update, rebooting into ClockworkMod recovery and loading it from there, and then used unrevoked to re-root the phone. I've been able to use all my root apps since then with no problems.
mine did this too then i realized there where two widgets on top of each other.
You're exactly right! In fact all of the icons are doubled as well as the widgets. I just manually deleted the entire top "layer" of my icons and widgets. Problem solved but i'm still baffled....
Could this be a problem with Titanium Backup? I had to use it to restore some system data since I reverted to a week old nandroid backup to resolve an error while applying the new update.

this initially happened with the gosms widget where it doesnt refresh everytime i get a new sms. i reinstalled gosms and it still had the problem. and now even the clock widget of sonyericsson and the other widgets likr goweather, the date widget doesnt refresh anymore. how do i go about this? are you also having the same problem?
How about Timescape? You can use it to see the messages
I don't use timescape. It's not too private.
Anyway, it's not the issue though.
Even the clock widget (stock SE's digital clock) sometimes don't refresh with the time showed in the status bar. Even the weather widget etc.

ever since the 2.3.3 update ive had the same issue, particularly with the clock. its always out of sync. tried stopping home, reloading the widgets etc, nothing seems to work and its completely random
I'm still with 2.3.2.
I tried using GoLauncherEx and so far they are working fine. But it still happens.
I have noticed that the widgets don't refresh when I'm using the default SE home..
Can someone help me with this?
I've discovered this to be a reproducible (but not solvable) problem. This might be an Android prob, as there are one or two other short threads on this site for other phones. For me it looks like the common thread is an incoming call while using an app. But fixing it... who knows?
I have been able to reproduce it three times:
1. after a week using my Arc, a new clock widget stopped updating except when foregrounded, and not until the next minute ticked over. I also noticed a weather widget wouldn't update reliably.
2. after two months without a solution, i completely reset the phone. All good. While playing a game, I received a call. Afterwards, the widgets wouldn't refresh except as above.
I deleted an unrelated widget because I didn't need it, and (perhaps coincidentally) the other widgets started refreshing properly.
3. a week later, I received a call while using the calendar app. Widgets no longer refresh, except as above. I haven't been able to find a fix this time. Tested widgets like the stock digital clock show the same problem.
If u hav installed beautiful widgets then..
Well after lots of trial and error.. the only solution i found is..
1. uninstall beautiful widgets animation
2. clear data beautiful widgets from settings - apps - beautiful widgets
3. uninstall beautiful widgets..
Living without beautiful widgets is better than facing that refresh problem..
Fix launcher lag
This method worked on my SE Arc S (.42). You need to have root access.
1) Open the following file: /system/build.prop
2) Add this to the end of the file and save it: ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1
3) Reboot.
Hope it helps.
Hello,
I had searched for this bug(?) but I found nothing like this.
Normal situation: if I want to put a new widget in the desktop, before drop the widget somewhere there is a green shadow which indicates that the placement is correct. If another widget is in the same place, this shadow is gray.
My problem: somehow, in concrete places in the desktop, at the time to drop the widget the shadow is gray and no widget is there. This occurs in the 1st desktop the hole 1st row and in the 2nd desktop, the 4th column, 2nd row. All the time are the same places and no matter which widget i try to put.
I have tried: reboot, long press in the gray places (maybe was an "invisible" widget), uninstalling some apps.
I'm newbe in android and don't want to make reset to default. Somebody knows about this issue?
Thanyou.
Never occured that problem, unistall all widgets then reboot, and then try to instal and put it.
First thing to try is wiping data for the launcher. You many need root, never tried without so don't know.
Sent via subspace beacon from my Arc.
This problem is known and is due to a modification of the location of the widgets that were here before; for instance if you move it from memory to sd card.
If you do not want to root, you have to reset the launcher, but you will have after to do your personalization again. To reset the launcher, Settings, Applications, Manage Applications, All, Sony Ericsson Home, Wipe Data (sorry, my system is in French, so my translation can not be exact).
If you have rooted, you have to remove the line(s) concerned by your "ghost" widgets in the file: \data\data\com.sonyericsson.home\files\desktop.xml.gz\desktop.xml
Thanks to all for the answers and specially for thierryb because he got with the solution.

I'm currently running the starskyrom with the EI22 modem and have go launcher installed but for some reason it will occasionally overlap widgets like calender and beautiful widgets. Never happened before.. Anybody have an Idea why this is happening?
I tried uninstalling golauncher and re-installing but same thing happens.
Go launcher includes options for tighter grids. Native 4x4 shouldn't allow overlaps.
There is an autofit option under Preferences->Screen Settings-> Auto-fit items.
Between those 2 settings, you should be able to stop the overlap.

I tried that but its weird cause it will merge widget from other pages and duplicate them on another while overlapping at the same time lol
Had something similar where the corner of the weather widget was showing in place of a widget on another page. I'm guessing you did it already, but delete and re add widget to the screen.

yeah tried that already.. Weird cause all the setting were the same coming from MIUI and I never had an issue with it.
Any solution to this? I'm suddenly having this problem. I first noticed it while trying another rom and uninstalled believing the rom to be in error. I went back to my staple rom and I'm having the same problem. I deleted Go Launcher Ex folder from SD, uninstalled and reinstalled..problem persists.
Hey guys, I'm running the DNF9 version of TweakedN3 (3.95), and I just had the weirdest thing happen last night.
After a reboot, my phone, camera, and contacts icons have all changed, and my wallpaper changed to a purple and blue gradient. I'm running the stock launcher, so I'm not sure what is going on. It looks like a built-in app called "Themes 1.0" was updated according to Titanium Backup. Any idea if this is normal, or how this happened without user intervention?
Update: Downloads, Internet, Video, Voice Recorder also changed.
Note 4 Dev ed.
Rooted but no roms, just Titanium freezing some bloat.
I have noticed that when I try to set a Calendar Widget for the date, or to get it to show me upcoming appts and such, the on screen widget stays on whatever was live at the time I create the widget. So I noticed today that the widget showed it was "WED Apr 15" which was when I created it. I installed a 3rd party calendar widget to try to get the appts to update and display and it did the same thing, only displaying appts from the day/week I added it.
Weather widgets do the same thing, I have tried the built in one as well as the Weatherbug widget and only if I actually launch the app do I get updated info.
Is there a setting I may have inadvertently turned off? What can I do to fix this?
Same issue here. Third party widgets don't work, won't update. Starbucks, sol calender, beautiful widgets, etc. I'm stock on lollipop.
Help?
Im using Ricks Rom Lollipop and third party Widgets are working perfectly (as is everything else), i used the one rom method for lollipop then did Ricks Rom and things have been perfect. I had issues with the one rom method (Bluetooth and other things), you might want to check into a new rom.
I don't have the development version. Stock retail verizon here.
Up? Hello... Anyone?
