[Q] Build.prop and tmp_fsq on root of SD Card? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey folks,
I've got a build.prop on the root of my SD card (I believe it was placed there when I installed ROM Manager - which I since have uninstalled). Is it safe to remove this?
There is also another phantom tmp_fsq on the root as well, how about this one?
Thanks in advance..

BUMP!

The tmp_fsq file is foursquare temporary file.

[Q] How to install .APK file directly to SD CARD?

I have an htc desire rooted and have a 4gb sd card.
i put the .apk file in the sd card and access it with file explorer in the mobile.
how can i install the .apk file directly to sd card instead of installing it in the mobile storage?
thanks
I don't think it's possible, but what you can do is install it normally and and then use Application Manager to move it to SD. (Apps to SD or a2sd)
Perhaps you already know this so sorry if i'm preaching to the quior!
Of course the ROM has to support this as well as the App. If i remember correctly i think this was supported officially from 2.2 onward. (Froyo). Custom ROMs, especially Cyanogenmods, usually have this feature working out of the box.
so is there anyway of doing it up to today?
Of course. It's called a2sd.

You should install a rom with app2sd or data2sd

Code:
adb install -s /patch/to/file

Hi here an odd way by the way:
as far as I know in the mixui10ml (as a custom rom 4 xperia ray search 4 it)there is such ability but u should unzip it and find and test apk files and install them to find out which one do such thing
I personally do other work ... copy all apk file in to my new downloaded custom rom and replace them and it works great!
and i should that point this apk isnt like apk2sd & other silly apk... it added in to system as a property and automatically run whenever an apk install.
its the only *(hard but real) way* that i find by searching in 2 years!!! sorry 4 my poor EN just want to help!
at last I find the name of that apk!!: "package installer.apk"!

[q] installing stock apps on ultra r5

I'm runnin kings ultra r5 and need the easiest way to reinstall a few stock apps, i have searched so far came up with two methods one is with file manager app. I have es file and astro neither worked the other method i read on was pushing thru adb which is if i'm not mistaken manually typing codes thru the command ??? Which i am really not trying to do can i just flash them thru recovery ? I'm trying to install 2 stock apps which are on my sd card already,i'm running clockwork mod recovery also.... Any help would be appreciated thanks ...............
Place the apks on the root of your sdcard, then use root explorer, enable r/w mode, then move them to the /system/app folder, enable permission by long pressing, then tap to install.
Thanks i did forget to mention apps are in zip file also, same method applies ?

Do the method as I said, you just need to extract the apk from the zip file, then you'll be good to go.

[Q] Access hidden directory?

Whats up guys - just a quick question and I hope someone has experience with this.
After installing my first custom ROM, I have another directory under /sdcard/0....
Is there any way I can access all of the folders under /sdcard that aren't showing in my ES file explorer app (they do show in CWM recovery, which is weird) ?
Thanks in advance...

[Q] I need help better understanding the Kitkat SD card restristion

First, I want to say that I have unrooted version of this tablet on Version 4.4.2
After I was forced to up date I knew I would loose some function with my SD card. I thought the restriction were going to be if that app didn't create the file that app couldn't modify it. So today I had tried to create a folder with in a folder within a folder with ES File Manager and it was unable to do so. Is this apart of the regular restrictions? Is there a non root solution that doesn't involve taking the SD card to the computer and then creating the file structure with the app?

Normal........ You need to use the native file manager (my files).

Thanks for the update on this. I guess the only way to use a non native file manager is root?
