Where is the setting to tell the phone not to pass lock the phone immediately, would be nice if it would lock it after 5 or 10 minutes of no use.
Settings < Security < Set Up Lock Screen. Once you have a lock method set up, the option shows up as "Lock Phone After" and has several options. That's the only way to do it through phone settings. I'm pretty sure you have to set up a lock method.
I'm running CM 6 ... I don't see that option .. :-\

Hey fellas, to lock my phone I use the pattern lock, but since yesterday every time I lock the phone with power button or sleeps itself after 2 minutes, it doesn't show me the 'draw pattern screen', just the regular 'slide to unlock'.
So, I go and set the pattern up again, and lock it, it shows the 'draw pattern screen' and only shows once, after I lock the phone again, it won't appear anymore.
I'm using CM6.1.1, obviously rooted phone.
Any help or suggestions? Moderators feel free to move this post to cyanogen's thread if needed. Don't know if this might be a problem of CM itself.
Did you enable any of the quick unlock settings in Cyanogenmod settings? I bet my breakfast (which I already ate, sorry) that its because you need to review those CM settings. In User Input or something or other.
Uncheck all of those settings (that enable quick unlock)
(besides those pattern locks are easily hacked -- with the right light and the right amount of grease from your finger anyone can see your "path to unlock" - Im just sayin!)
Sorry man, that quick unlock feature is definetly not checked, it's under "settings/cyanogenmod settings/input settings", quick unlock not checked.
U owe me a pancake lol.
I dont remember getting creative with locking and unlocking settings, the weirdest thing I did was to install a few themes to the phone. Imma try putting everything to default, and start from there.
I've experienced some unlock and lock issues with cm6 aswell. It seemed as if there are settings that conflict with eachother. What happened to me was I changed it to rotory unlock with lock set to immediately engage on screen off. After changing that it wouldn't lock but the screen would turn off. I had to set it to 1 second and then reboot then it would lock just fine.

What surprises me is that it stopped working for some reason, because I've been using cm6.1.1 for a couple of weeks and worked perfectly..

don't remember where the setting is but it sounds like the time-out setting is not proper, the phone does not lock right away if it is sitting on the table and goes to sleep on it's own but you can set it to do that, i had mine set to 30 seconds so that if the screen turned off while i was waiting for something to download or happen i didn't have to unlock with my pin each time. look through the settings (probably security or cm settings) for the proper tweak, i would give better instructions but i'm currently on miui ROM

Yeah, these settings are found under CM Settings->User Interface (down at the bottom). I don't think these will be the cause though, since the OP said he didn't really mess with any of the settings. Also, I don't think the settings would cause the "Slide to Unlock" screen to appear (the phone would simply turn the screen back on to whatever was last on, no pattern unlock, no lock screen).
Have you installed any new widgets or lockscreen apps recently? Out of curiosity, have you tried any of the other lock types just to see if they do the same thing (like PIN or password).
I remember in ICS there was an option (besides the option to set a screen off time), that you could set a time till your phone would lock. Say my screen went off in 60 seconds, I could set it so that in another 60 seconds the phone would lock. I can't find it in Jelly Bean, can't really remember exactly where it was in ICS. I just remember setting it.
Thanks!
I know CM had something like that, but didn't think stock did. It just has the screen timeout setting in display.
Go to:
Settings > Lock Screen > Lock Automatically
and you find:
View attachment 1460133
Not there for me.
Nothing in lock screen options either
You have to have to secure the lockscreen (with a pin, or other form of security) before you will see these options.

Ok I got it now. Wasn't like that before in ics. Kinda sucks, I just want the slide to unlock with that option.
Thanks again.
By root, by app, by manual edit of files that could brick the phone, how can this be done?
I want to double tap the screen and see whatever page I left when the phone went dark. Not the swipe screen.
I also would like this to work with having a pin that only must be entered every so often. So the app "no lock" won't work, because it won't show the pin screen after the phone has slept for XX minutes.
Thanks for any help.
To remove the swipe to unlock, go to settings > display > lock screen > select screen lock > none
I am not sure about a reoccurring pin though.

Well I can't put none, because I need to lock it after I haven't used it for a while.
So you want lock or not? There is no option like "only sometimes"
there is literally a setting that does exactly what you want to do - settings > lock screen > lock timer > 5 min, 10 min, 30 min. it'll lock after the phone sits for that long
No you guys, the pin entering or pattern unlock is not the same as the 'swipe to unlock' screen. Before kitkat, I owned not one, but two phones that did not force a 'swipe to unlock' screen. You could still have a pin that you had to enter after X minutes of inactivity. But any time in between, there was no 'swipe to unlock'.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, just don't post. This is really frustrating. Heard this same crap with Fire phone. Some people get it, some people apparently don't know the difference and have no problems doing a completely arbitrary extra step to use their phones after they power it off for 3 seconds.
I want an option where when I tap on a notification on the lock screen, it opens the app instead of bringing up the "swipe" before it opens the app.
Miss this from my Nexus.

Mine is Settings > Lock Screen > Select Screen Lock. However the options I have are:
Swipe
Knock Code
Pattern
PIN
Password
I don't have "none".

Yeah - that makes total sense. Verizon lost out on a lot of things in comparison to the TMO and AT&T variant.

I totally get what you are saying... I have a Verizon G4 that just got Marshmallow this weekend
I use Widget Locker Lockscreen as my replacement lock screen. Previously, I used that to unlock my phone, and if it requires my Knock Code I would have to knock it in. If it didnt require my code (due to trusted devices and trusted places), it would open up the phone. Now, I have to swipe to unlock in Widget Locker, then swipe to unlock AGAIN on the stock lock screen! this is super annoying!!!!!!
This has been annoying me lately but I don't know when it started. I'm running 5.1.1, using fingerprint lock (tried also with pin lock, same thing), with a 10 minute delay of locking after screen off. For some reason, in the lock screen I no longer have access to quick settings, even when the screen isn't pin/fingerprint locked (within the 10 minutes). Was this changed on purpose for "security purposes" and now even when you don't want the lock screen protected, you have no access to quick settings?
Is it just me? Or is that the way it's meant to be/has always been?
Currently I use PIN+fingerprint setup. I wonder if there is a way I can do this:
I turn off the screen using the power button (or the phone turns off after inactivity).
If I turn on the device in x minutes (or hours) using the power button, then the device shows lock screen. Then I just swipe the screen without having to type PIN.
Unlocking lock screen with fingerprint works well, but sometimes it is not very convenient. I cannot use fingerprint when I wear gloves for example. Of course I do know that under Security, there is an option of "Automatic lock", but this is not what I want because it does not show lockscreen at all for entered duration.
Is there any app that allows me to do this?
You can delay the security lock for up to 30 minutes I think in the settings.

I already mentioned that. Under Security - Automatically lock, I can delay up to 50 minutes. But this disables lockscreen at all -- turning off then turning on using the power button yields NO LOCKSCREEN. It brings me back to the screen I was looking at. This is not I want, I want to delay password input but I want to have lockscreen, which I can swipe away.
No Idea?
Well there seems to be no solution I guess. Too bad.
