It seems that finally Samsung is doing something about the low performance of the phone when memory goes lower than 60/70mb.This update lets us manage the memory with 2 levels. From what i read in other forum its advised to set ram to level 1 because if u set higher it can close some widgets.Im testing now so i uninstaled other similar program to see if its good or not.
MMMM! At last, samsung is doing something. I'm digging the auto task killer, works better than most task killer. Level 1 is recommended!
Where can I get this app?...

Here's the apk file for Samsung Task Manager 1.5.
Install using "My Files", Astro File Manager won't upgrade the app.

same here
Returning to old Task manager after reboot.
Just have to re-install the 1.5 apk again after each reboot
i don't think it's autokilling though. every time i close the application, it reverts back to nothing. seems like you have to manually clear ram. ): not bad to say the least though!
This is strange business...
My newly installed task manager 1.5 has also reverted to the older format following a soft reset. I'm using JM1 and am not rooted. Can anyone suggest how I can reload the task manager 1.5 as it's no longer showing in Samsung Apps? When I look at my installed apps on App Brain, it looks like I've got the option to uninstall the task manager there, even though I can't uninstall it in the normal way on the phone. Has anyone uninstalled their task manager via App Brain, and if so, did it actually uninstall and did it reappear again in Samsung Apps after that?
same problem here, I'm on XWJM3 ITV (Italy).
so i uninstalled Task Manager 1.5 to test if Samsung Apps will display it again (it reverted back to 1.1 after a reboot).
and nope, it doesn't show >.>
looks like i'm gonna have to use the apk.
edit1 : installation successful. it's installed with 1.5 now using Astro file manager. not sure if it'll revert back to the old version after reboot. not interested to deliberately try lol.
pretty cool the new update for task manager .. i dont use any other task killer.. its working just fine.. and dose the job well done the only bad thing is that it dosent auto kill.. u have to manualy clear ram and close other apps that are running.. but anyway is super nice
yea ... disappeared here to - BUT i noticed that it KILLs ATK non-stop ... can it be that it's doing his own autokill procedure ?
BREAKING NEWS:
so i was saying previously that rebooting removes v1.5 of the Task Manager(with ram management).
so I used the APK provided in the posts above and installed over v1.1. I had to reboot but i realise that v1.5 is still sticking around!
okay here's EXACTLY what I did to it if it matters, feel free to try.
Updated to v1.5 via Samsung Apps
Rebooted - losing v1.5 and back to v1.1 in the process
Uninstalled v1.1 Task Manager altogether using Titanium Backup
Long press Home - pressed Task Manager resulting in a phone freeze (lol)
Installed v1.5 over using the APK attached in previous post
and voila, it's surviving reboots. oh ye I installed the APK using Astro File Manager.
Tap the APK file using Astro File Manager -> Open App Manager -> Install
do tell me if it works or i'm being lucky.
edit1 : i rebooted and rebooted again to confirm it's staying and guess what. IT'S STAYING. lol good luck.

guys, i've been getting custom system crashes lately, actually for a month already.
as u guys c, my devices are below. i dunno why this is happening. sometimes i just got crashes for nothing. it gives me so headache.
both of my devices are acting the same.. randomly crashes..
isit because of the SPL? or the Radio?
guys, whats the best radio and spl for Hero?
As for Hero did you update to the lastest Radio 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29?
i guess i'll try..thx..
do you use advanced task manager by any chance? i had my system repeatedly crash(the process system has encountered a problem force close), then i uninstalled advanced task mgr and got task killer instead..well my system seems stable so far.
so far i have no crush using advance task manager. my hero status on my siggy =)
Just add "HTC CheckinService" to exclusions of Advanced Task manager
okok, regarding the advanced task manager i'll try the exclude. but so far i've update the radio version, no crashes happen yet. will try a couple more days and c how it works...

did use use the "close all" function without checking what program you actually closed? it will close some program that you need to run your phone properly. & your phone will like restart.... hang abit.... then startup your phone again.
Advise: please do not anyhow close application unless you know what you'r doing

it shouldn't have any problem unless you blindly closing all/any program running on your mobile as result of phone crash
ooh yeah thats probably what i did. Task killer normally doesn't close checkin service so i assumed advanced task manager wouldnt as well...my bad.
I was getting this all the time with my first 3.1 install. Mainly when USB mounting and using the Market.
A new install without wipe seems to have solved the issue.
While browsing through Samsung Apps on my phone today, I saw that the samsung taskmanager was available as download ..
It's taskmanager 1.14, I don't know if that is new than the one included in the newer firmwares ..
I am running JM1 new ..

I'll think that the Help page was changed, noticed nothing else.
Just a warning, it lies, it says there's nothing running, but it leaves all the Samsung crap in the background, and mis-reports the amount of free RAM.
its good
but if you compare it to advanced task killer its just crap

Well actually it shows exactly right. It shows only running APPS, not running processes. Advanced Task killer is IMO crap. So many people who is using Advanced Task killer or anything else 3rd party task killers are having a lot of stability issues etc. problems...
i'm still on 1.11, can't see it on Samsung Apps
it's not listed
running JH2 stock ROM

The task manager in the samsung apps are meant for eclair rom, and for those on froyo leaked firmwares, please do not install it.
This was a big problem for me, and I wasted many many hours trying to solve the problem of the android market, that didn't donwload, update or install anytnhig.
But i found the solution in a forum and my market is working fine now
Epsilonbass from droid forums.net:
"Connect your phone to your computer, set in usb mass storage mode. Look for a hidden folder called ".android_secure" and then delete the file "smdl2tmp1.asec". Unmount and you should be good to go."
And all is working
I don't have smdl2tmp1.asec in that folder
Are you referring to the problem of random things being considered "not compatible" for your phone?
Yeah if you are talking new market (version 3.x) the problems go deeper than that.
Custom dpi (lcd density) causes the incompatible problem.
I went back to market 2.3.6

You don't understand how much I have tested to try to find the reason behind it. I was going to test that tomorrow morning. It's always the last thing.
Is there a way to force the app to download regardless of screen density? My Desire is showing more and more apps as incompatible because I use a density of 200 instead of 240... don't really feel like changing back just for an app install or two.
i solved this problem by clearing data , cache , uninstalling update of Market and rebooting my phone
Thankfully I have a backup of 2.3.6, which appears to be the last version that is even remotely usable.
I regularly have to restore 2.3.6 in order to update an app. Of course after a while the Market updates itself to the latest 3.x version (thanks for that). Usually things work for a while after this update, but eventually there will be an app update that either can't be installed (no install option) or that is flagged as not being available in my country (even though it's already installed. So I have to restore 2.3.6 again and the cycle continues...
I use the default LCD density and clearing the Market cache and data doesn't help.
Bottom line, Market 3.x is just plain buggy.
Google is really messing up with this.

If you use titanium backup you can freeze "market updater" to put an end to that.

Does that just prevent the Market from being updated or does it also stop apps from being updated? I'm assuming it's only the Market. Anyway I'll try it and see what happens, thanks.

No such file, either with computer, or terminal app, or rooted explorer.
But I've finally managed to get rid of this bug, deleting Market data with Titanium Backup, as I could only delete cache in Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All Applications > Android Market (which was not enough).
My friend was getting "purchase canceled" error for free apps on Archos honeycomb tablet.
Market version was 1.x but looked like no market I have ever seen. We installed the 3.1.5 from my thunderbolt over his tablet version, and now he can download again.
With the new market not able to update or download new applications.
Wiping market data only tempararily allows downloads.
Marker 2.3.6 is only working.
To prevent auto update, delet or rename marketupdater.apk
It solved my problem.
But, why can't we use the new version?
I'm stock rooted. A couple of days ago I started having problems installing apps. The app will download but the install button won't work. Its like I'm not pushing it. I can hit cancel and cancel the install but I can't install. I got around this problem by installing via my file explorer but today I tried updating my Swype Beta and it wouldn't install. I can't install it via ES file explorer. I don't know what to do. I can download it but the install button doesn't execute. I tried powering down. I tried clearing cache from Swype and Swype installer.
Thanks in advance.
Ok, I renamed the Swype updater app that downloaded to my phone. It showed as a .download and I made it .apk. I was then able to install it via ES file explorer. I updated Green Power Premium (battery saving app) recently. I thought that might be the culprit but I stopped it and froze Swype with Titanium and tried to reinstall it and still no dice. Install button still doesn't work.
Bring rooted may be holding you back. I would say go and root and then try it from there with something like Rom Toolbox.
I have a similar problem for ex. when I make a phone call and I get the automated voice to hit a number like 1 or 2 it doesn't respond, another one is like on gmail manual refresh button and sometimes when browsing. This doesn't happen all the time thou. I got mine getting checked out but I got a feeling that its going to get replaced because it happened while the doc. was checking it out.

Sorry, my brain isn't work today
Rom Toolbox works well with deodexed roms (not so much Odex). If you are into custom with a stock feel I cannot give more than enough props to Macksrom. If not use the Sextape 1 click back to stock Odin restore and re-do the root process from there. Unless you have a backup from when it was working.
I don't know if this helps but did you recently install an app like GMD S-Pen? I had that installed and it took me forever to figure out that the app was responsible for not letting me click the install button. I would try uninstalling recently installed apps to see if it works.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried uninstalling the last 7 apps I downloaded one at a time. I would uninstall one with Titanium backup then test to see if install button worked. It didn't work. I tried a 2nd app then test again and nothing. 3rd app uninstalled then test again. Still no luck getting install button to work. I gave up after uninstalling 7 apps. I know that the install button not working started happening recently (less than 7 apps ago).
Its bugging me that I can't figure it out. Like I said I can install apps after they download with ES file explorer but not with the native install button. Can I find the native installer in Applications Manager and clear defaults or something? Is so what's it called?
Okay, I finally found the problem. It WAS an app that I installed after all. After searching online I finally realized it was my screen filter. "Screen Filter" app dims the phone so you can read while in a dark room. It dims the phone even further than the darkest default dim setting.
There are several dimming applications out there and several auto brightness applications that can cause the same problem I had. I like the application so I will keep it but at least I know what's causing the problem now.

REQUEST: hi as the title says i need a program or a script to manage the unused background process ,in other words am i able to control and make my phone not to start any unused app ?, any help will be considered and will hit the thanks button
P.S i used google and search engine found nothing that can actually solve my issue
what rom u're using now?
Try receiver stop and boot manager to stop programs starting. Greenify should help to shut them down
Sent from my GT-N7105 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'm running stock 4.1.2 official rooted with cf auto root,I will also try theis programs and edit this post for feedback
Edit: thanks for mentioning greenify installed and it freed 300-500mbs but when I clear memory it goes down too 500-700 then after a minute or so it jumps back too 900-1.0 ,I have startup manager installed and greenifyed all my apps, what causes my phone to start unused apps!
About the boot manager , do you know the app settings as its not supported by my phone. and I have to set it manually also greenify doesn't seem to work correctly as my ram is still at the same range 1.3-1.75
