Hello guys, and girls?
I've just rooted my Magic and installed CyanogenMod 6 (stable) on it. Is there a way to make the progressbars (downloads, volume) green instead of yellow?
Yep with root you can change anything not sure how to go about changing the progress bars though, but yes it is possible

Progress Bar
You will need to get Paint.net (free) and set up SDK and ADB on your computer. Pulling the Framework-res.apk and then modifiing the progress bars (notice I said bars).
Try putting this in your framework-res.apk file (in your drawable directory).
It had to be edited from source and then extracted from the apk file so it wasn't as simple as using Paint.net to edit a png file.
If you use it in a rom or theme, I would appreciate credit for the contribution.
(remove the .txt extention first)
thanks binary... dont know if u remember but i was the one that tried to figure out how to change my progress bar to blue... you gave me a site that gives the number color code... well, still i never got that chance to figure it myself... but again thanks for the green progress bar file

Okay, I've just ported over a few themes to the ultimate droid 2.1.0 and in the transition, my menus font is white on a white backgroud. I cannot see the font unless I use the trackball and highlight it. Would anybody be willing to show me what files to change that or even better help me by changing them for me? I am not a themer by any means and am just looking for a little help thanks.

Nobody knows how to do this? I am going crazy trying to figure this out. Thanks
It's in the colors.xml I think .
It may be in values folder.
Once you decompile the
framework.apk
Not at a computer or I could give you a better idea.

I'm running the new Urban theme that was just updated for Ultimate droid 2.1.0....It happens on any program i run when i hit menu to bring up menu options, the font is white on a white backgroud.... Just need to change either the font to black by default or background to default
halfway there
Ok, I've extracted the framework-res file to my PC... I located the colors folder and now i'm in need of help on how to edit the file to make the font black instead of white... What program do i use to edit the file, and how do i repack the framework-res to insert back to the phone? Any help
menu_background.9.png and the image right next to it meed to be themes, they control the background when you hit soft menu button.

I would download 7zip and just swap out color xmls that you know are stock. Or just post a download link and I will fix it for you

Cheers, exactly what I was looking for while themeing my SGS
I found this pack titled iphonestatusbar.zip and it changes your status bar icons with ones that look more like an i phone.
Well i liked the look of Dark and Blue on silver so much i decided to extract my files from framework-res.apk / res / drawable-mdpi / and change a bunch more.
to make these work i pulled/copied my framework-res.apk from my phone.
replaced the existing icons with the modified ones
then pushed the framework-res.apk and reboot the phone.
it works great..
Interesting
Thanks for the info
Any tutorial for noobs?

Its okay, but rather stay with the android look
Beaut icons,status bar look nice
i like to try this but,,don't know how.. ;p
any simple tutor for lowbies?? XD
Can one of you guru's give a noob a hand and tell me what i'm doing wrong.
no matter what i do i can't seem to theme the status bar.
I've created a new statusbar_background.9.png (yes i know .9.pngs are odd)
but i can't seem to actually make the phone take the change.
everything else i try and change shows up with no problem.
i've tried everything i could think of but am sure i'm missing something.
this file (attached) seems to do what i want if i drop it in framework-res on my old phone. or systemui on my tablet.
there is a statusbar_background.9.png in systemui but ????
but on the touch even if i edit the .xml and call it as drawable both as a .9 and a normal .png and i can't seem to make the touch like the change. i don't get a FC i just see the standard black bar. if i just delete the png i do get a fc though so...
I've even tried with a solid red bar just to see if it was the transparency but no go.
is it calling a different statusbar_background from somewhere i just can't find?
Many thanks to the person who tells me how im an idiot
http://www.multiupload.com/YOGY8OQCIE (mirror same as attached)
Ahh yes the dreaded 9.PNG file... it drives us themers nuts... it takes special edit which a little more than I can explain here. Search edit 9.PNG and I think you will find threads that will explain it in depth... probably not the answer you wanted but there are people on xda who have explained it much better than could...
thanks i'll give it a few more shots. but i'm fairly certain i created the .9.png correctly as it works on a couple other devices. and all my other .9 edits seem to work as intended. just was wondering if it was possible that it really wasn't the statusbar_background.9.png in systemui.apk that themed the status bar by some chance. as it seemed to FC if i had an incorrectly made png, but boots fine just with no change if i use one i'm pretty sure works.
just wish some themer had skinned the statusbar at all so i'd know it was just me being a mooley
I'm wondering the same thing, as I've changed almost everything else to MIUI style status indicators just by swapping PNG's in the drawable-hdpi folders. Crysis21 uses an HTC style status bar in his SensatioN ROM, and I've downloaded it to search the files and still can't find where the hell the change is made.
Yea just seems to want to foil my every try. It should just be the status_bar.9.png in systemui and mine seems to work on my buddies international s2 but for some reason ........ Dunno it may take me a while but ill figure it out eventually. Unless some kind soul steps in and shows us the answer

Sorry about the format, I wasn't able to upload a zip for some reason, the attached file has all of the drawable-hdpi folder changes I've made. The work isn't my own, only some of the tweaks and proper naming, its from HTC, the MIUI devs, and the brilliant minds (obviously mine excluded) on XDA.
Thanks....gonna try and learn as well. You guys are mch better than i but we all start simewhere right

if you want an all green text in the notification bar remember alpha red green blue, so a non transparent green would = ff00ff00, red = ffff0000, blue = ff0000ff, and so on (I apologize if I am stating the obvious)

Ok guys,
Im going to post this in every Note 2 variant forum until I can figure this out.. I mmanaged to get a working transparent status/systembar on my note 2 on tablet UI.. the only problem being that my phone totally locked up and being the DUMB a$$ that I am I did create a backup.. reflashed a rom and thought I could recreate it.. I have located what I think the files name is and it is tw_status_bar_background.9.png. Now when I try to recreate it the status bar becomes all distored when pressing something.. I will show you pictures below of it working and it NOT working.. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.. I am not asking anyone to give me a step by step but more of just yes thats the right file or no thats not it..
PS the black line you see at the bottom of first pic is bc the wallpaper is not scaled properly, which can be fixed..
Honestly the easiest way to do this is to simply have a rooted phone and put ParanoidAndroid rom on it or one that has hybrid settings. It has an option to change the status bar color and you can make it transparent

Are you currently on a touchwiz rom?
Most devs use a hex value for the status bar, very few have a png.
If its a hex, change value to #00000000 where the first 2 digits represent the transparency value an rest is color.
If it is using a png image as you say and its a '9 png file, then it has other things that has to happen to it before you can use it.
Its gotta be patched by draw9patch. Then recompiled. After that, you can do what your looking to do.

The only thing is .9png that I most certainly think it is..is 4pxls by 54pxls so trying to edit it then patch is a B$%#^H..if you catch my drift.. and I havent been successful at doing it yet.. Thats another reason why I think it becomes distored like that..

Lmao...you are in every thread. ..jesus
'9 files can stretch to any size, from any size. I've worked on ones 4px before, its a pain but its possible. That leaves a 2px area to work. That's how android works. So if its too small, make it bigger. Patch, recompile
