[Q] Froyo Charging Times vs Eclair - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know why a phone, which is the same hardware whether you have 2.1 or 2.2 on it at the moment, takes MUCH longer to charge under 2.2? How could software do this, and is there a possibility of a fix?

Kernel changes.
HTC knows of the issue.

Thanks

[Q] Evo's w/ hboot 2.02 - Hardware Version 0003

I having been searching for a solution for about 2 weeks....
At this current moment I am running Frost Rom 3.3.1 w/ stock kernel, but as soon as I flash a custom kernel or Frost Rom 3.4 my camera/camcorder seizes to work.... I know for a fact this has to do with the custom kernel due to the fact that I have tried about three different kernels and all have the same camera/camcorder issue. Any word on when this might be fix, just wondering since I havent found anything relating this issue.
Was also wondering if anyone is having similar issues with hboot 2.02 and on - hardware verions 003 and on?
Currently have my evo rooted s-off. Thanks for the help for those who reply! XD
you must have an evo with the newer camera, currently HTC hasn't released the newer kernel which supports the new camera drivers
So till we get that, you're in the same boat as others .
I have the same problem. How do we check what type of camera we have?

Thanks for the reply.... wish they would just release it already, but thats okay I am always willing for the wait. I just love the AOSP roms, when flashing one of the AOSP I get no camera/camcorder issue. Thanks for the reply really appreciate that.

The way you check what hardware verison is through menu-->settings-->about phones-->hardware information-->hardware version.... Hope that helps determine the version you have.

If your phone originally came with hboot 2.02 I believe you have the new camera... Quite honestly though, the easiest way to tell is by doing what you have already done. Flashing a custom kernal and having your camera not work is an instant sign you have the new camera version. Some late made HW003 phones and all HW004 phones have the new camera built in.
Well I got the new cam then....come on htc with that new source.

**sigh**...i feel I have a special case with my phone. I swear when I first got the phone and checked my hardware, it said 004 and I was on hboot 2.02. I rooted the phone and flashed a custom rom that had a custom kernel ( just for kicks ) and I didnt lose my camera or camcorder which is great. The only issue is....my hardware now says 003 I'm soo tempted to flash a customer recovery but i want to know what makes the partitions different.
also does anyone know how to physically check for your hardware #?
I love that my phone is trying to be different lol but I cant find anyone that this exact dilemma

Your HW version can't change itself. If it says HW 003, you have 003. But if it came with 2.02 hboot then you have the new camera hardware. Are you able to go back to a custom ROM without a custom kernel? That'd be the quickest way to tell if your camera starts working.
Until HTC releases the new source code for the new kernel if your evo came with hboot 2.02 or higher u can only use the stock kernel and keep your camera

It has to do with production date of your phone I would guess and hardware version. The different camera module is definitely NOT guaranteed with hboot 2.02+, as I recently received an hboot 2.02 phone as a replacement and cams work fine on AOSP based roms.

Thats truly odd... I had recieved my evo on 12/02/10 and currently have hboot 2.02 w/ hardware version 0003, now when I use an AOSP rom like cyanogenmod 6.1 or evervolv etc. my camera/camcorder doesnt work.... AOSP allows everything to work perfectly fine w/o any issues except for camera/camcorder as well as 4g (which 4g is not a big deal since I dont use it much). Wish I could at least use one of the AOSP roms available w/o the camera issue.... I could give up 4g as long as it is not permanent. Thanks for the info.

The aosp roms we use today are built from source. The kernels are built from a htc source that came out before they started using this new camera on the Evo. That is why its essential for them to release a new kernel source with updated camera drivers. Until then we're stuck.

my camera never stopped working and i'm 100% positive that my hardware stated 004 because i was comparing to another Evo which was 003. I use a special recovery that has a hack for the ps3 which can only be used on the 003 hardware as of right now. now my hardware spec says 003.
Is there a way to tell on the phone itself (maybe underneath the battery cover) what hardware its running on?

When I bought my phone it was hardware version 0004 and now it says 0003. I rooted with unrevoked and have flashed various roms including, warm 2.2, cm6, fresh, 5-6 cm7 nightlys, and various kernels and themes. I am not having any issues with my camera but my earphone on the device sounds like it is blown, which might be the case. However, I was wondering if this discrepancy in software and hardware would have any influence on my audio or anything else for that matter.
Thanks
My EVO also said 0004 when I first got it. I'm sure because I wrote down all information before rooting. Then I rooted and tried different ROM's, Kernel's and recoveries. Now it says it is ver 0003.

[Q] Is there a viable Gingerbread 2.3 Rom for Desire HD yet?

I had an original Hero a while ago and was using Modaco roms but that was over a year ago now before jumping to Palm Pre for a bit.
So I am totally new on modern hacks and concerning the DHD.
I know I need to downgrade and something called S-OFF and Visionary. However what I need to know is if I use a 2.3 Rom presumably from a Cyanogen source will I have full functionality? All Google Apps? Can I still use HTC Sense widgets if I choose too? Will HTCSense.com still work?
Thanks

Depends where you get it from, but on here most are full of bugs currently, I would wait until they are ironed out. No HTCSense.com won't work without the HTC Sense homescreen, but I would only worry about this if you REALLY need the service. Google Apps will work, and if they arent supplied they can be downloaded from the Market

No I want to try vanilla 2.3 for a bit. I have only ever used Android with Sense overlay.
You saying the Cm7 nightlys are stable for day2day use and all apps are available on it? Is it the thread over in Dev forum?

I'm using CM7 Nightlys on day2day basis, on build #5 atm, got no problems with it at all.
Thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=917271
Alltho i recomend reading up on the full proess around rooting and flashing recovery, radio and roms a few times to ensure your not getting a brick out of it
does 2.3 bring with it marvelous battery life improvements?
I did all the nececssary and now I am succesfully running slightly modded cyanogen7 daily #5. Very stable actually no problems at all so far other than the Microbes live wall paper freezing and needing a reload

[Q] Android 2.3 with Sense port from HTC HuaShan possible?

now that there's a 2.3 build with sense for HTC Sense leaked out there, i wonder if it's possible to port it to our devices?
Dump source:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11379272#post11379272
was hoping port a port too.. maybe it would take up to 2 months to go for an official update.. a ported version would suffice
Actually it should be possible, but since the DHD has the Adreno GPU it could result in the same little issues CM7 has. Some 3D Apps do have trouble and performance isnt really the best for everyone (different results from user to user). There are no official Gingerbread drivers out for the Adreno Chip.
But, considering how well CM7 already runs on the DHD, it should be no problem after all.
Lets just hope some talented devs can look into it and get a stable build together until the official stuff gets released by HTC.
i will get working on a port straight away

It's probably Sense 2.1, the one on new HTC devices they have announced at MWC2011. It has more function and let's hope for better performance

Gingerbread has smoother scrolling & transition effects, thats the only thing I have noticed.
Hope the fonts are small like the regular desire hd roms & not gigantic.

[Q] question about sense 2.1 roms

Been trying some Gingerbread with Sense 2.1 roms
Just wondering if its possible to disable the recent apps list in the notification area?
It kinda bugs me, its not very pretty, and holding the home button does this anyway.
I've tried to searching for this but cant find any info, maybe I'm the only one it bugs.
Also which png do I need to edit for the notification area background?
Not major issues just little things.

[Q] Not receiving SMS using Sense 3.0 Roms

Hi all...
Is anyone else having this problem? It seems to only be happening to me when running Sense 3.0 Roms. I never have any problems using Roms with a lower Sense version.
I've searched the forums pretty extensively but haven't been able to narrow down a cause.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated )))
I had that issue with Incredible Sensation (Sense 3.0) multiple times in the last week. That was really my first ROM, so I can't say if it was the same thing or not.

Had the problem a few times on some of the 3.0 ROMs. I didn't on Community ROM RC5, and I'm going to try Nils BS 2.2 tonight and see what happens, I think it likely has to do with being (for the most part) Sprint ports, but I'm not sure that anyone has found a fix or that its a very widespread problem.
Thanks for the input, guys. I had the issue when using Comm ROM, Nils' BS, Inc Sensation and Synergy. If you didn't have a problem using Comm ROM, Zero, then I'll try giving it another shot. I'll also look through and see if i can find one that's not a Sprint port to test whether or not a factor.
Thanks again
