I have rooted with EVO3, but I have not done anything else. Can I receive the update or do I need to go back to stock? Can I receive the OTA with the root at all?

OK so i have my galaxy s3 att version rooted and i am still on the update that came with it when i got it. Now that an OTA update is out im constantly getting notifications to update it but I dont want to screw anything up. How do i need to go about installing it. Also will it take away my root or anything else to my phone? Thanks
I've tried to install the OTA update on a rooted AT&T S3 and it fails. Nothing messed up on the phone. Anyone know what the update includes?

Ok so understand it fails i tried that too, but i still dont understand exactly what i need to do.

This is a noob question. I rooted my phone and deleted a few apps. Now i want to get the latest update of Tmobile.com. What's the best way to get those updates? Do i go back to stock rom or just update my phone via KIES?

Hi guys. I have this sgh i747(unlocked) im using it in Europe and i have updated it with kies to 4.1.1. now i want to update is further more but idk how. I cant do it OTA cuz i dont have American card. Is therr any way to update it without getting rooted? And if thete is pls tell me if phone will get locked after that. Thanks in advance, im kinda noobish when it comes with updates. excuses
Is your 4.1.1 ROM completely stock? Have you tried doing an OTA update via wifi?
Once your phone it sim unlocked, it will not re-lock after an update.
Unlocking is permanent, just to confirm. And afaik, the only way you'll be able to update without flashing a custom recovery (I assume you don't want this since you don't want root), is to flash the 4.3 (MJB) firmware via Odin. You can find it in a thread in the General section.
After updating to 4.3, use the OTA made available in the same General section to update to 4.4.2.
I have a t999L rooted phone, Android 4.3 T999LUVUBNC1. Tmobile is telling me I need to do a software update. It is apparently T999LUVUBNF4, but I do not see any "root" option with this build. Where can I get a copy? If I flash it, will I still be rooted, or will I have to re-root. Its been a while since I've been on these forums and I need some guidance. Thanks.
You'll have to re-root. Not sure if it'll even flash the OTA
