I have gone through these steps over and over and over again. I have downloaded both files listed and the md5 is correct. Why does it not see this file? I have not had any errors up to this point.

Its a development question....
Is the file named PC36IMG or PC36IMG.zip? If its named PC36IMG.ZIP it'll show up as PC36IMG.zip.zip

Is your SD card an SDHC card? If not there has been reports that it wont see the file unless you are have an SDHC card. I had this issue and moved it onto an SDHC card and was good to go.

no it isn't
It's a question, nonetheless. Unless its a question to a particular kernal, ROM, or recovery, but then again those questions should be ask on the thread to which the questions are directed to. This belongs in the Q&A. Development board is for Devs bringing out new developments. Not questions about developments. I love circles. And trains derailing. How about trains derailing in a circle to where it gets back on track only to derail again. Get the metaphor? I don't.

yeah, wrong section, but what u might have done wrong is u names it "PC36IMG.zip" when it is a zip and only needs to be named"PC36IMG"
I doubt he changed the name
it was already named right. I still have not figured out why this happens. I am looking into it, hopefully I can get an EVO soon. Unfortunately, wait lists at Sprint Stores are 1 month +!

ok so I exchanged two evo's yesterday they both came stock with the ota 1.47 I Was able to Root and Nand ONE!! no issues went right thru in 10 minutes using ota method.
Try the second one and I can't get this thing to nand unlock for the life of me. I have ROOT access no matter what I try from Formatting the SD card to trying every and any pc3 file I can find and I either get MAIN VERSION is older or Bootloader checks the file then goes back to the main bootloader screen and does nothing.
I am able to flash roms of course except those that require nand unlocked. So I currently have software version 1.32.651.1 release keys
WHAT am I doing wrong?
If you posted in the "Question" and Answer (Q&A) section you'd probably get more help. This section is for the development of software, roms, and fixes.

Unless your posting something you developed or talking about working on a group development/fix, it doesn't really make sense to post in development. Best of luck with a fix though.
Well apparentlyits getting a bit of attention here you two came in and looked. But thanks for the constructive on the point advice lmao.
As a side note I solvedthe issue using the three step easy root. I will link to it later when I get home

I THINK, but I may be wrong, that since this method only requires putting files onto the sdcard and letting recovery and hboot do all the work, there should be no problems with using a mac.

I know this seems like the most retarded question ever, but can anyone point me in the right direction? Yes, I've used search and the results were all bogged down with trivial crap. I want to root my Incredible so I can use a Gingerbread ROM. I'm completely ignorant when it comes to rooting and crap, so could someone preferably point me towards a beginners guide? Thanks.

You use a RUU and flash it like a radio through your update. It will set your phone back to just like you got it from verizon. No CWM, ROM, Kernel, any evidence of tampering. It's the best thing to do if you break your phone. Although I sent my old one in that I bricked without doing it and they sent me a new one and never said anything.
How do I flash a radio? Just go into clockwork? Or?

You download the file and make sure it is named exactly PB31IMG.zip
then:
1. Put the PB31IMG.zip onto the root of your SD card
2. Turn your phone off (not reboot)
3. Hold volume down and the power button until your phone boots up into HBoot
It will ask you if you want to update, press volume up to update.
Then once it finishes it will ask you if you want to reboot, press volume down.
Here is the newest radio:

You need to be very careful doing this, while it is a simple process if the is at all corrupt or you interrupt the update you will brick your phone and won't be able to use it at all. Make sure the md5 sums check out. PM me if you have more questions and i'll help you to the best of my abilities. Good luck bro.

I've used a RUU with flashing WM,is it the same idea? Does one use a computer to flash, or is the RUU on the phone and flash off the SD card? I do appreciate you helping us newbees to android.

I am not sure what "flashing WM" is. I am no expert at Android. I've had mine for 3 months but it's very addicting and i strive to learn more always and people were willing to help me and gave me the feeling that none of my questions were stupid. I hope I can make others feel the same.
You put the RUU on your SD card on the phone. The link I posted will go through it step by step but basically you just load the RUU (PB31IMG.zip) to the main directory of your SD card, power off, volume down + power button and press volume up when it asks you to update and most importantly DO NOT interrupt it. Make sure your battery isn't going to die, your battery won't accidently dislodge and if it seems like its frozen just let it sit there and seem like it is. It is very important not to interrupt radio's and RUU's

Their are 2 options one like posted above that is flashed through hboot from the sd card or the RUU which is a Windows PC based .exe. You can find both with instructions here http://dougpiston.com/?p=7
I think I forgot to post the link but here is a great RUU walkthrough. Very easy to follow:

Yeah it'd be the same concept just root and make sure you do a backup (nandroid) so incase something messes up you can go into clockwork recovery and restore your backup and not lose everything

I Recently *Rooted* My Girlfriend's "HTC Droid Incredible" & *NOTE* This Was After The "OTA" Was Sent Out!! Lol!! I Say This Because Alotta Advice, & Posts I Read Didn't Work If You Received That "DAMN OTA"
But Finally, The Method That Worked For Me Was The *NEW* Method From "Unrevoked-Forever"
I Think I Was The 3.22 Method, But Can't Remember For Sure!!
Anyway, All You Have To Do Is Download: The Boot Drivers, The Unrevoked-Forever Zip., & The 3.22 Zip (Or Whatever The Newest Version Is Now)??
Then Install The "HBootDrivers" To Your Computer!! Follow The Video On The *unrevoked.com* Website!!
Then Open The File 3.22 File, & Click The Top Left File Button, Make Sure USB Debugging Is Enabled Settings/Applications/Development, Connect Your Phone & Let It Run!!
*Note* It Will Look Like It's Not Doing Anything, But It Is, Let It Run!
It Takes About Fourty Minutes To Complete & Will TELL YOU WHEN IT'S FINISHED!!
GOOD-LUCK!!

I am trying to return my glaxy s3 back to stock and it just won't work. I downloaded the stock firmware from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737855
I put the phone in download mode
open odin
click pda and search for the file.
First it wouldn't find the file, so I checked my download folder and found it
Samsung-Updates.com-GT-I5500_TIM_1_20111103150347
It seemed fishy, so I went back and redownloaded the file again making sure I was getting the SGH-T999 stock
Tried odin again with no luck at odin seeing the file.
I opened the file and found this file
I5500XXKJ3_I5500XXKJ3_I5500XXTIMKJ3_HOME
Odin sees this file but as soon as i hit start I get an error on the phone saying
Unsupported dev_type
SO what is going on here?

I wouldn't consider that flipping out. There was no name calling, no degrading of anyone, and definitely no foul language used. It happens so frequently, that if the questions are just answered, then it encourages others to do the same. I'm not the XDA police, and I gladly & politely help new users all of the time in any way possible, but if the rules are continued to be disregarded then there's not much point in having them. I think there's a difference between flaming /trolling someone and telling them something firmly so that they won't forget it.

Summary:
My Baseband, IMEI, etc is UNKNOWN
I think I may have clicked Erase NAND in Odin while reflashing which may have caused this
I have the stock (4.1.1), rooted ROM loaded and functioning, but no cellular functionality
I have no internal storage found. When going to Storage in settings it doesn't even show internal storage, just my SD card.
I fully take the blame for this, as I am sure I screwed up. Now I just need your help in getting this resolved (if it is even possible).
