Ok so recently I've been attempting to manage some files with root explorer and when ever I navigate to my sd card I get a "sd card mounted as read only " error and I can't do nothing. Now my sd card doesn't have a physical lock switch , what's going on here? Anybody else expeteince this?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
just for reference i found the answer else where on the forums
reboot to fastboot and type the commands below
SD Card Fix
Press & hold vol down and power on the phone
Select fastboot by pressing the power button
ADB commands
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot reboot
That should fix your SD card not being detected.
Is there a way to run these commands through the phone? The exact same thing thing just happened to me and I am about an hour from home so I am hoping to fix it on the fly. The last time this happened the only thing that fixed it was running chkdsk through a command prompt on windows. Is there a way to do something like that through recovery or terminal? Thanks for your help.

Last night the SD card suddenly was missing on my rooted Desire, both in Android and in ClockWorkMod Recovey. The SD card could only be read in fastboot mode. Holy craperoly!
When I tried to mount it in ClockWorkMod Recovery I got an error message saying "E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory)". I tried 2 different SD cards but none of them could be mounted.
Searched the web and came across "solutions" like "the mainboard is faulty and must be replaced". WTF!!!
Finally found the solution:
1. Download the Android SDK and extract
2. Connect the phone to the PC via USB
3. Go into Fastboot (hold 'back key' then power on)
5. On your PC enter the command prompt, navigate to the SDK\tools folder and enter
"fastboot oem enableqxdm 0"
"fastboot reboot"
Fixed!
Still have absolutely no clue why the issue happened in the first place...
i tried this but not working , may be it works on some but not for me
well i format with g-parted live cd , and made two partitions of fat32 and ext3
and now it is working
just try it
ps: first i used g-parted live cd in my laptop , but it did not detect my Micro sd
then i tried it on my friend's and then it detected msd , just give it a try , not sure for you

Hi! Thanks for the info, I did everything you told me but when I enter your command it says it doesn't recognize "fastboot" as an internal or external command... any ideas what goes wrong? the command propmt is the "cmd.exe" right? and I should enter the text right there, once navigated until the tools folder, right? (which is now "platform-tools" by the way")
Btw, about the fast boot mode. I turned off the phone and then pressed the back button and once the power button. It didnt say anything about entering fast boot mode or anything, that's right I guess?
I cant believe HTC is screwing that much... I was such a fan. First HTC sense huge problems.. now this...
Please answer! Thx in advance!
After trying Data2sd and failing to run it, my phone will no longer mount any sd card.
I've tried wiping. And flashing backed up img through fast boot but no help..

Hi
I am a noob on here so forgive me if this info is already out there, but search didn't show up with any info that could help.
Basically I was trying to install InsertCoin CM7/A2SD+ STABLE and on their wiki I found a guide for partitioning Sd cards using MiniTools Partition Wizard. Used that to partition SD card following the guide, worked fine, flashed InsertCoin and the phone was stuck on HTC bootscreen.
Tried flashing other ROMs but still wouldn't boot so I decided to plug in my phone and use the wizard to restore to wipe the partitions, but as soon as I did that, it showed up as (Bad Disk) on the wizard.
Now the PC won't recognise it and the phone won't boot with the SD plugged in. I managed to boot MIUI without the SD.
I was wondering if there is any way of finding out if the SD is bricked, and what could I do to fix it?
Many thanks
vladwt
Can u go to recovery if sdcard is in?
If u can, format it there
Thanks, I tried that already but recovery wasn't able to recognise it/format it.
In the end I found a friend who used diskpart to sort it out after which the phone was able to recognise it and recovery formatted it.
1.) Install android sdk:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html
2.) Boot phone into fastboot mode (start with pressed back and power button)
3.) Connect phone to computer
4.) Start windows terminal and navigate to tools-folder of android sdk
5.) Enter
Code:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
and then
Code:
fastboot reboot
No warranty for any damage!
Hello I'm hoping someone here can help.
I partioned my sd card using CWM and then installed Leedroid rom. Upon booting I was unable to see the Sd card in phone I have since repartitoned using Gparted and tried 3 other cards and the phone still doesn't see any off them (so fairly certain not faulty sd card).
I have been been trying to sort this the last couple of days and have probably made matters worse rather than leaving it and getting my head together.
I Have since read about possibly usb bricking the phone if you partion using CWM and flash a GB rom.
I have changed the recovery via fastboot to Amon-Ra. But I also deleted the rom via fastboot thinking I could reflash in fastboot(lack of sleep)
The phone is still s-off .
I have accessed the phone and got the CID (VODA001).
What is my best option?
Just try and flash via RUU or try and fix via adb which I did get set up and saw the phone but have never used before?
It's a dead easy fix, no need to flash an ruu. Follow my instructions here :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176663 Incidentally, I suggest you read it all before you start and go the easier router of downloading Android Flasher, it's far far easier than downloading the whole SDK and whatnot.
Thanks Parva but I have already tried those commands via fastboot
"fastboot oem enableqxdm 0"
"fastboot oem eraseconfig" or something to that effect as it said that it could possibly fix the sd card problem. But its still there.
I already have the sdk installed but have never used it other than fast boot .
I have got to step 3 on this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639 And got the files on the phone using android explorer.
That's the USB brick fix that you're doing. At this point your problem is getting the SD card to be recognised by the phone isn't it? No need to go down the USB brick fix route until you're certain you have one (which you probably don't), which you can't be until you get the SD card working.
Connect the phone to the PC, boot into fastboot (back button and power) then from the command prompt (from your Fastboot directory) type 'fastboot devices' and see if it responds. If it does then retry the "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" command. I've never known that not work.
Just booted into fastboot and entered "fastboot devices" It gave me address so its seeing the phone have also run "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" still not detecting sd card. I downloaded the android flasher utility you mentioned and tried running that.
It gives me the CID (which I had already got and generated a new image mtd0.img)
When i try and flash the mtd0.img the computer gives me an error saying cannot find path
You're putting the cart before the horse with the USB brick fix, you're fixing a problem that may not exist and it still won't fix your main issue which is that your phone will not read the SD card. When you ran the command line "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" what response did you get? If it completed just fine then try another SD card.
yep it completed fine and have tried with other sd cards. Still no joy
That's not good. I don't know what to suggest at this stage. I do know however that you're wasting your time trying to flash the mtd0 image file, the two problems (unable to read SD and USB brick) are two seperate problems and you can't know whether you have a USB brick until you get the SD card to be read by the phone so don't waste more time on that.
Just have to hope that someone with more knowledge than me comes along because I'm stumped at this stage, sorry.
Just a quick update phone now fixed. I tried a 4th sd card from a friend which mounted after running the enableqxdm command via fastboot. Allowed me to format via amon recovery , transfer rom and flash in one go.
Guess I'm not buying anymore cheap unbranded SD cards from ebay again. Strange that all 3 I tried work fine in other devices.
Well the phone has now stopped seeing the sd card again. If I boot into recovery the card will not mount. I can connect via adb , fastboot, droid explorer (sd card is grayed out). Charges via usb and gives option to usb tether.. Really starting to think hardware fault.
Flashed stock RUU fault still there getting .Collected for repair tomorrow.
I've been rooted and using Sandvold's ICS for some time now and it has been excellent, but curiosity got the better of me and yesterday I decided to try the AOKP ROM. Somewhere in the process my phone told me 'error mounting SD card' and ever since I have been unable to do anything with it.
It will boot into recovery, but when I press 'power down' to select 'fastboot', it just goes into the 'bootloader/reboot/reboot bootloader/power down' options. If I press 'Power' when Recovery is highlighted, it goes into the white HTC screen and then the ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.20 screen with the blue menu listing various options. If I choose 'install zip from sd card, for instance, I get E: Can't mount /sdcard/.
I have tried another sd card, but no luck.
Any help appreciated!
connect your phone to pc while it is booted to fastboot (power+back button)
in cmd/terminal:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot oem eraseconfig
what about do some search good guide is here in your case :[13]RECOVERY CAN'T MOUNT SD-CARD
Thanks for the advice. I've tried No.13 without success. All I get is - 'The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect'.
I get this message after entering any of the variations in the guide.
Please post the commands you entered here (if you do not remember every one, post the ones you remember).
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
cd\ C:\android-sdk-windows\tools
and when that wasn't recognised
cd\ C:\program files\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
None of these have worked. Although it looks 'bricked', it will boot into recovery and all the usual options are there but when I try any of them ,it can't find the sd card.
I have two laptops, one with Ubuntu and the other with Windoze XP.
I haven't tried the Linux route yet.
do you have fastboot installed? download this zip and make sure drivers are installed too
unzip it and run commands from above with path where you unzip the fastboot.zip
Which error messages do you get?

FIXED!!!
I tried the NO. 13 instructions again on a friends laptop with Windows 7 and my SD card is back. Wonderful!
Thanks for all the advice.
