From Android to Win 6.5

Hi, I installed android to my touch but now I'd like to go back to window mobile. I haven't been able to figure out how to flash it back to windows... any help?

Long story short. i'm trying android again to see if the newest build has better battery life. the last build couldn't hold a charge long enough to make it worht while as a phone.
The only way i've ever gotten android to get data after being flashed has been to get it working in windows first and then installing android.
i've read and searched for a step by step on how to do this and i just haven't been fruitful.

The guides that i see want me to establish an active sync connection to flash the device but I have android installed and i cant' establish an active sync connection. I think thats my major hangup. Is there a way to flash it from the memory card?

not that Im aware of.. my have to RUU back to stock and start over.

That would be just fine too... i still don't know how to do it. When i run the rom update utility it gives me a connection error.
Edit: I realize that i'm being vague. Let me try to fill in the gaps. I am putting my phone into the bootloader mode, hooking it up to my PC via USB and running the Rom update Utility with a custom rom. The phone has been unlocked so it really shouldn't have any trouble..
What am I doing wrong?

Put your phone in Bootloader Mode by pressing the Camera and Power buttons and then the Reset button all at the same time.
Then make sure you have a radio of 3.4x or above... If not Flash back to a new stock Rom and then follow the threads you were just reading.
If you radio is good go and Download one of the ROMS here on this forum.

Make sure it says usb at the bottom of the bootloader.

so what was the problem because I'm trying to get from android to win 6.5 and the computer is saying that my xv6900 isn't hooked up even though on bootloader it says usb...any help would be great

How to Flash a Vogue Without ActiveSync
A method so easy my Mother could do it.
Not suggesting there's anything wrong with my mother, just that she's not all that technically oriented.​
Here's an easy way to flash your HTC Vogue without using ActiveSync. It would likely be a great method to use if you had many Vogues that all needed to be updated as well. Works great for those not using Windows, as well.
Look around for a Transflash (aka MicroSD) card, one that you can erase, 2GB or less.
Use your Windows machine to make sure it's freshly formatted as FAT32]
Copy the ROM you want to flash to the card.
Rename the file you just copied to VOGUIMG.nbh If you are flashing a different model, you need to be sure you have the right file name for it. I think the pattern is the first 4 letters of the model name with IMG.nbh after it, but if it doesn't work, don't blame me,
Put card in phone.
Enter bootloader mode by holding the CAMERA and POWER buttons, while pressing the RESET button in the little hole in the bottom of the phone. (don't bother to connect it to your computer)
Enjoy a caffinated beverage of your choice, or an alcoholic beverage of your choice, or heck, a nice tall glass of cool water while you wait.
Watch as your phone automagically flashes itself!
Congratulate yourself on a job well done.
This is what I'm going to use from now on for flashing with a Mac or Linux. For those addicted to flashing, you can even take a collection of cards with you. I'm not yet sure if you can have multiple ROMs on one card, and just rename the one you want to flash or not yet, but I'll likely find out soon.
ATTENTION:
Missing any of these will make it NOT WORK:
Card must be normal SD, not SDHC or XDHC. No bigger than 2GB
Card must be formatted with FAT32. They often come formatted FAT16 or plain FAT, and a previously-used card could have just about any format on it -- NTFS. HPFS. HFS+. EXT3 -- Format it right to be sure.
Be sure you have the right name. I've heard that CaSe cOuNtS -- the name above has been cut/pasted from a working reflash card.
There is no #4.

i do as yousay after i put it in bootloade mode it says loading for a split seconde then goes back to bootloader i need help i have android with no data i read that i need to reinstill wm get data working their then re install android i cant get wm back on this phone im going on 3 days trying to flash this yes its unlocked

[Q] htc Desire -USCC I think I REALLY made a mess!

I've never tried to do anything beyond readily available 3rd party apps. I've never jailbroken anything or rooted. I don't know how to work with ROM's and I've never used command prompts beyond installing difficult software on my desktop. (I'm using Win 7 on my PC) and I have no linux or coding experience. That said, I'm smart, I research things fully b4 I actually DO anything & I follow directions exactly when i do something unfamiliar.
I bought my Desire about 45 days ago thru USCC. Stock it's running 2.1. On Fri using UnREVoked 3.21 I tried to root. It appeared to work. I have the Superuser file at least...
However, when I followed unlockr.com's tutorials for downloading & flashing ROM's it became obvious that something was not right (screens weren't the same, options weren't the same or even close in some cases, & controls, like pushing power to go back after recovery didn't work.) The screen turned black, I had a minor heart attack & then the phone finally rebooted into it's original USCC configuration.
Now, I DID have an option to "install from SD card" but nothing that said "flash from sd card" and I'm assuming -maybe incorrectly- that there's a difference??
After 4 days of searching sites, I know there are too many posts on USCC rooting & Desire for a noob like me to know what to do. I have a mess that I need help to untangle.
Prior to my failed ROM attempt, I had installed save to sd... which I think may have moved everything to my SD card. Since rooting, I tried using Root Explorer to remove facebook, twitter, City ID etc.... EX: I can see bloatware files on my SD card, and the program SAYS it deletes them, but it reboots on exit and there's CityID again!
I can mount the SD card as a disk drive on my PC and look thru the SD card files. (some of which appear 2B duplicates. When I rooted, I installed the Hboot drivers and followed the unrevoked directions exactly. I renamed the recovery file as update and left it as a zip... but there are now two "update.zip" folders on my SD card. They are different sizes and neither contains all of the files of the other; although some of the files in each of the zip's are duplicates.
I don't know what files SHOULD be on my SD card and what is extraneous material. I don't know what I need to install to get to where I'm ultimately trying to go... which is running 2.2, getting rid of these "extra" files and gaining the ability to wifi tether my phone.
I do NOT know if I have S-off or not... and I'm not sure how to tell. AND, I'm not sure if this is the base cause of the other issues or not.
Is there anyone willing to get me thru the vast amount of material & help me to get my Desire running the way it is capable of functioning?
At this point, I'm even willing to switch carriers to get what I want if the issue is USCC's proprietary nature...

i cant tell you how to fix it, but what i can say, is if you really borked it, you can take it into a uscc store saying you have no idea what happened. i used to work for uscc until about 2 months ago. until that time, out of the 3 corporate stores i was working in, not one associates knew what rooting was. and none of the "smartphone team" had either. so they would most likely just send you a replacement. good luck

I thought about that... And I really don't even mind paying for it if I need to replae the phone, I will... But I figure at this point, worst case scenario I have aphone I can "play" with and figure out IF I can do any of this stuff successfully. I've discovered in the last year that I sort of have a talent for figuring this stuff out. This is the first time I've ever needed to find help with a problem and I've built several complete systems. I'm hoping there's someone who might be willing to suggest a course of action. If you have any ideas- even if I brick the darned thing- I'm willing to give it a try!

Sounds like the second tuturial you were following was trying to root your phone again, but with the older method.
Turn on your phone holding volume down. You will get a white screen with some options in the middle, select recovery (it says at the top of this screen s-off or s-on, yours should say s-on, this is how to find this out.)
When recovery loads it should say clockwork recovery, a custom recovery flashed by unrevoked during the rooting process.
Use this recovery to flash a zip of whatever rom you want. Be sure to wipe data also if changing roms or any problems arise.

I've figured this much out at this point... I did root my phont with unREVoked 3.21. However, I did NOT S-OFF the device. So I'll try what mercianary suggests & let you know how it goes! Thanks a ton!

Are you using the mouse button at bottom of phone to select in black and green recovery screen? If you are using power button to select it will give you a blank screen.

I just got my new Desire a few days before. It works like a charm. The only 2 things I feel unsatisfied are: battery life and ROM capacity.
There is not much I can do on the battery side. I can put it aside and get used to that. But the ROM is really painful for me -- When I get the device, it had around 150MB free memory. But it is only 22MB left now!
I noticed that the Android 2.2 supported to install application on SD card. I used adb shell to setup the default installation to SD, and moved most of the programs to the SD card. However, it seems that internal memory was not free up as much as I was expected. Indeed, I did not have many software installed. And I am very suspicious if the cache of software (like mail, google maps, etc.) might always stay on internal memory.
I think one solution to solve the problem is to root my device and partition the SD card to increase the program storage. But I am worrying if it might bring security risk from malwares, or make the phone run slower and have bigger power consumption when use SD card more frequently.
Do you root your device for the app2sd? What's the pros and cons? I want to take your opinion before make the decision. Any suggestion will be very appreciated!

Rooting , followed by alpha rev s-off n1 partitioning, is by far the best thing, so much fun.
I use defrost based on cyanogen mod, great support, and ota feature, with kernels galore, and the all important a2sd built in. As long as you have an ext partition on your sd card, all apps go straight into the ext partition with out you having to do anything.
Also remember is not jail breaking

What does alpha rev s-off allow you to do?

It basically provides full root access for your desire as opposed to soft root, where you could only r/w to the to the /system partition while in recovery mode.
What is S-OFF ? (Quotes from original AlphaRev website)
HTC implemented security on their new generation phones. This flag, called @secuflag, controls whether your phone has it's NAND or flash unlocked. Most noticibly S-ON (security on) will read-lock your /system and /recovery partition, to name a few. Also, controls whether zip files being flashed recovery or fastboot, are signed by HTC The now notorious S-OFF (security off) disable this NAND security. Since we are unable to access the Radio itself (where secuflag is stored), we turn attention to HBOOT.

It unlocks NAND so that you can write into /system partition. You can also flash radio, custom kernel, custom recovery, any unsigned ROM directly via fastboot without ClockWorks Rom Manager.
When you can write to /system, MetaMorph, AdFree and other apps that require access to this partition will just work. You don't need to reboot into recovery in order to delete/change/add files. Superuser will be able to update su binary automatically, Busybox Installer from Market will have no problems installing the most recent version directly into /system/bin or /system/xbin, etc.
While most users probably don't need it, it's very useful for developers. You can change system configs on the fly, add and load custom kernel modules without reboot and so on.
Basically, it will make your phone fully unlocked, just like the Nexus One developer phone.

[Q] Swapping SD cards

Hi,
I'm having trouble swapping SD cards and I'm hoping someone can help me out!
I have a Desire, rooted with DeFrost 6.1a ROM, ClockworkRecovery, HBOOT 0.80.0000, S-ON, Radio 5.22.05.14 accoring to 'About Phone' and Radio 5.11.05.14 according to the Bootloader. I want to put in a 32GB card. It hasn't quite gone as planned! I've spend several days looking through the forums and trying things out but nothing has solved it so I thought I needed to ask for help.
I tried the obvious route of copying the SD card to the new one and then turning the phone on, but it hangs during the boot - I get the Nexus One X image thing that pauses, stops and then starts again (it's not a continuous flow like it should be)
When I rooted the phone I did it the gold card way because it was before Unrevoked did Desire. I tried Unrevoked again to see it if made a difference and to get S-OFF, but it comes up with 'Internal error - couldn't find misc'
Another strange thing - I have flashed ClockworkRecovery, but when in Bootloader and I select 'Recovery' and get the red ! and triangle icon, I press volume up and power and I get 'Android system recovery <2e>' rather than the Clockwork Recovery menu, plus text in yellow along the bottom saying E:/can't open /cache/recovery/command. I have reflashed it several times from RomManager, but it doesn't seem to change this screen. I also tried to flash AmonRa recovery but have had no luck trying to do that!
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?? Is there something simple I've messed up? Or should I reflash to the stock T-Mobile ROM, swap SD cards and then re-root again?

[Q] Woes of the S4 mini SCH-I435 (several questions about it)

I was recently given a new SCH-I435 from a family member. This is my first time having an android in a very long time(Switching from an iPhone 4s). I have a few questions about it. (this may be a lengthy post)
First I know that you cannot flash custom ROMs to it, as the bootloader is still locked. I have heard that there are some de-bloated stock ROMs out there, but have entirely failed to find any. I can probably get by without it, as I already have it rooted, but there are several things I am attempting to do, and every time I look up how to do it, step one is having a custom ROM.
If anyone can point me to a de-bloated stock ROM I would greatly appreciate it (or at least one that is compiled to not be a "production build" as I keep running into "adbd cannot run as root in production builds" and it is severely limiting what I am trying to do, and what I am going to want to do in the future)
What I am trying to accomplish next is taking over the "connected as installer" feature that Verizon has on it when you plug it into USB (I am using linux exclusively so have absolutely no use for their software). I figured I may as well put this feature to good use. I am attempting to swap the ISO file in /system/etc for a CrunchBang LiveCD.
This has only been a partial success, apparently /system is it's own partition, and there is not enough room to fit the whole ISO (It is 739mb and it stops at 423mb) Even though it does not get the whole ISO copied, if I reboot my computer the ISO does indeed boot into the options, but fails to load the live session (no brainer there) so I know I am on the right track. I don't want to use DriveDroid for this, as it is very very finicky, and only seems to work 1 out of 6 times (and that is a kind guesstimate) My guess it that the "connected as an installer" is messing with it, so I would hope to turn the problem into the solution.
So I either need to find a de-bloated ROM that can free up ~ 400mb on /system, find a way to link the ISO from elsewhere on the device (I tried a soft symlink from my SD card and that did not work, it opens the ISO as an archive and not a file system), find a way myself to free up ~400mb on /system, or find a way to re partition /system to be larger (I have the 16gb S4, so I have plenty of room to spare).
I would prefer the debloated ROM(I don't know if that will free enough room), but finding a way to re-partition would be a close second (Every guide I have found for re-partitioning starts of with "First you need cyanogen(or another custom ROM)") I may need to re-partition it anyway. (Honestly I would like to learn how to do all of these, as they would be valuable tools in the future)
I had more questions, but got kinda lost writing this up, I will append them to this post later when I remember them... Thank you in advance for any help you may send my way.

Oh yea, my other issue is accessing the files on the phone under Debian Wheezy. I have tried mtpfs, jmptfs, ptp mode, mtp mode, go-mtpfs (that one somewhat works, I can see *some* of the files, and probably take them off the device, but I attempted to add a file to the SD card and it corrupted the entire card, had to reformat it, just glad I did not do that to the phone)
ADB partially works, but only for taking files off the device, or putting them onto the device in non root areas, I get stuck with "adbd cannot run as root in production builds". I have tried almost everything I can find under the sun in regards to USB access.
