Ok, so I screwed up somehow and managed to loose the hulu apk on my sky raider.
Did it even work? I never tried it before I noticed it missing (and im not sure how that happened anyways) but can anyone send it to me or something? Thanks.
It worked very well for me
Hey so for some goofy reason on the new Rom (2.5.2) from rom manager my hulu audio plays very very slow. The video is also choppy now. When I used the 2.5 version of the Rom it worked great.
I did a wipe before installing and everything else seems fine.
I can't get it to work! I installed flash 10.1. In the hulu app any video I click on says it's not available. wtf?
There is a optimized flash apk in the skyraider folder on the root of your sd card after installing this rom. That will fix you not being able to view videos.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
The problem I had with Hulu was the incredibly slow, and thus resulting, demon voices when playing video. I noticed this after I installed Ad's Audio Fix from the SkyRaider goodies tab in ROM Manager.
I managed to fix the problem simply by applying Ad's Revert Audio Fix also found in the SkyRaider goodies tab in ROM Manager.
flash a fresh rom from scratch and install the flash player off the sd card. I lost the apk and ended up having to reinstall the rom. remember to wipe before the install.
Oddly, there is no skyraider folder on my sdcard after I installed the latest ROM. So how can I get the optimized flashplayer 10.1? Hulu doesn't play for me. Says it's an unsupported platform.
Download the Skyraider zip from the Skyraider topic in this forum and search through it on your computer with something like winrar-- you can actually grab the skyraider sd card folder and throw it on your sd card, then use something like Astro to open and install the Flash apk thus saving you from reflashing the entire rom. It works. That is what I did. =P

That worked! Thanks guys.
I gave up, slow audio was driving me nuts.
Tried what Empedox did, now it works fine. THANKS
one note about what empedox did: if you just do the revert audio fix, it will cause pandora/slacker/etc to sound like crap.
to have the best of both worlds (i.e. hulu audio works, and streaming music also sounds good), you should apply the revert audio fix and also change the following line in /system/build.prop...
media.stagefright.enable-http=true
change to:
media.stagefright.enable-http=false
this will fix hulu and also keep streaming audio from sounding like garbage...
When you go on ROM Manager in the goodies download there are two fixes I did both and everything works on mine HULU and iheartradio. But my phone has all upto date mods mabey that helps also.

has anyone had this problem? I go to the various internet apps to browse the net, including hte native one for android, and after i open them and they load up the home page, or any page....they shut down and close....it must be a glitch with the new rom.....any ideas to help me?
Might get more replies if you post in the correct section. Evo development is only for people who create roms

Yeah, wrong section. This would be a Q&A thread. Anyways, the best way to fix it is to do a factory reset. There are some problems reported after running the update without wiping, so definitely wipe to make sure everything is working.
remove adobe flash and reinstall it. works perfect afterwards

I was also have the browser issue, and I did that, and now it doesn't crash, but it does say Adobe Flash player version 9 or high is required when I try to play a video... and if I try uninstalling flash player, it says cannot be uninstalled...
Anyone have the exact name .apk of the flash player so I can delete it via root explorer?
Fix
EDIT: Mkay if your getting problems with Flash player, set your cache on your browser to the second highest under 8MB, then install the flash.apk from here, and boom! Working flash

Rip the .apk from a stock rom and then try and install it on the ROM you're using.
ok i'll try that. I'm not certain i know how so let me know if this process isn't correct...
Unzip the Rooted Stock 2.2 ROM
Search for carpanel.apk or somthing similar, then just move that to the sd card and install it.
Thanks. I'll let you know if this works!

For your convenience:
The HTC car panel
The other two are the google android car panel files (you need both)
I prefer the google one because it has a music button and works in landscape.
Let me know if I messed up and put the wrong files for any of them.
how exactly do you install that apk file after they are both on your sd card?

download astro file manager from the market.
This app allows you to browse files on your sd card.
Find those .apk files that you need to install.
and itll detect to install it once you launch them
***Side Note***
The first time you try to install an apk itll have a security/protection setting
Youll see what i mean when you attempt to open that file, itll ask you if you want to unblock ---> unblock by unchecking that box.
Thank you very much ! This was quite helpful my HTC desire.
Dude thanks! You rock! Seems that CoreDroid missed that element in their v8.1 ROM for HTC Inspire/Desire HD. I'll be trying this for sure.
Thanks for the links nhutpham, has helped out a family member who lost car panel due to the android 2.3.5 and sense 3.0 updates.
Likewise, my Amaze (2.3.4, Sense 3.0) simply didn't have an HTC Car Panel app. This is a little old, but works fine. Hopefully Sense 4.0 with the ICS update will come with the new car app I've seen demoed at MWC this week.

I do not get if you are not going to answer a proper response, why to bother in typing so useless reply?
For the records yes I tried and since I could not find anything I decided to ask. Even tried to make an update.zip by myself and flash it, but it screw my media and system volume, so yes I have tried to do things before posting.

Well, since you said you tried to google... First let me say that I'm not sure where the DSP Manager comes from, so copyright/licensing might apply.
I'm not sure if the Sense version is different, but there is a DSP Manager in CM6. You could unzip the CM6 update, extract the .apk from the system/app folder and then install via abd or a file manager from the SD card.
If the Sense DSP Manager is different, you might be able to do something similar with a Sense based ROM.
EDIT: If you are getting volume/media issues with your homegrown version, that might suggest that you need the a different kernel, i.e. install CM6. There might be other ROM offerings that will give you Sense and the right kernel, but I don't follow that kind of stuff very carefully.

By just installing the apk is not enough, you need to pass the lib.so file to system/lib however not even like that works

Anybody try to install the DSP Manager on the Vision yet via the apk or flashing it (not the built in DSP Manager on some custom ROMs)? I've been looking at this, since the lack of equalizer on the phone is maddening. I've been hesitant to try DSP Manager, since it seems to cause issues on some phones, according to the following thread.

Before posting this thread I followed that link, and sadly is not working by flashing it as a rom, it makes my speakers to not sound at all.
thanks anyhow
So I just picked up a nook simple touch and am eager to root it, I've done plenty with Android on phones, never an ebook though. I've been reading the material here and had a couple questions.
1.) It looks like 1.1 firmware is needed for most of the roots here, however B&N only lists 1.2 currently. Does anyone have a mirror to 1.1 or tell me how to get that, currently I'm on 1.0.1
2.) If I can't get 1.1 are there any roots that will work for 1.2? I've been following the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346748 and it looks like it only works from 1.1 by the sound of it.
3.) Is everyone or anyone using the NoRefreshToggle? If so what do you think? Is it worth trying it out? Dangers of using it? When you toggle it off do you get greyscale back? From the sounds of the post, it's pure black and white with it on which is fine if when I disable it, it goes back to normal greyscale images.
4.) Did anyone find out how to turn off page animations in the kindle app? not a big deal, just wondering.
Thanks a lot, look forward to trying this out.
Here's a copy of nook_1_1_update.zip I pulled down from B&N a few weeks ago: http://www.mediafire.com/?h5kn1214gfjhkcg In the end I didn't need it, so I can't confirm how the upgrade works (the instructions said just put the file within the zip on an SD card and reboot)

Thanks for the link
Thanks for the 1.1 post link, however I updated to 1.1.2 and followed the instructions and everything seems to be ok, I can get email, install from the market place, only thing I can't do is search the market. A search just lists a blank page and doesn't find any apps, any ideas.
As for the Kindle question, after installing kindle app and seeing the performance, this isn't a big deal at all.
Still curious on the refresh toggle however, any ideas on that, have you guys tried it out? I may post there if I don't hear back.
Thanks

I have checked and as you said market search functionality is absent, it seems to be broken since the Googleplay thing.
As a way to regain it, in the mean time we get an updated market working, install Searchmarket.
The NorefreshToggle is still in early stages, but works quite well for webpages, etc.
Try it, there are no risks on it, on any program when you enable the app it will work, and when you go into a menu it will return to normal grayscale.

How do I install Searchmarket if I can't search the market for it lol ... Do I have to install it on my phone first, then transfer the apk over to the NST, then file browse and install it from /system/app ?
I tried NoRefreshToggle, it's interesting, like you said a work in progress ... Tried it with GReader unfortunatly it shuts off between Feed view and Article view which is a pain, but I think that's probably to avoid ghosting.
As for web page viewing, Opera Mini FCs on me everytime I open it, as does the stock browser, so I haven't been able to try browsing as of yet Still looking for a solution to that one.
Thanks for all the info, really enjoying the NST if NoRefreshToggle keeps getting better this could really be a killer device

The included Opera Mini installation never worked for me (no FC nothing). In the end I fixed it by uninstalling and reinstalling.

Is there any risk upgrading to 1.1.2 from 1.1.0? Would I have to reinstall google apps &c? Did anything change in between 1.1.0 and 1.1.2? (I have heard that they may have fixed the WiFi issues that were plaguing me a few months ago.)

When I saw this, I though, "Your'e crazy!" But I tried it anyway...yeah, I'm crazy too...Amazingly, it actually works!! It's pretty slow (and the camera preview goes wonky just like the stock JB camera app), and video recording is broken on this ROM currently (Pons CM10-Unofficial-11-01). But the 4.2 camera actually works.
I copied the files over manually and fixed permissions (I used X-plore, but Root Explorer or adb would work as well), that way I could back up all the files I was replacing in case things went ugly. I quickly found:
The Problem. There's not enough room on the system partition for this newer (bigger) camera app and for the extra libs it requires. SO it will fail if you just try to flash the .zip. The easiest way to get it to work is to use Titanium Backup to uninstall some stuff. First to go is Gallery (we're replacing that), then I uninstalled Email, Exchange Services, Setup Wizard, Google One Time Init, and Trebuchet (make sure you have another launcher installed before you remove Trebuchet). THen, it was just a matter of copying the new files into place, fixing their permissions, and rebooting. But if you clean up some space on /system, you should be able to install the .zip from recovery and be good to go.

I did exactly what you put and it WORKED!!! you have no idea how excited I am thank you so very much!
Just by way of confirmation, it does work (and is easier) to install the 4.2 camera this way:
1. Install your favorite JB ROM and gapps; boot the phone.
2. Using Titanium, uninstall gallery, and a few other things as mentined in post #2.
3. Boot into recovery again and install the 4.2 camera zip. (the one that's patched to work on non-nexus devices, procured elsewhere)
4. Boot the phone again and enjoy the goodness!
If anybody figures out a way to get anything useful out of photosphere on this phone, let me know.

All good advice, and uninstalling unneeded system apps is prudent with JB Roms. But to short circuit all this - I simply use the Camera360 app, which I find to be much better than the native camera app.

Except this thread is about the 4.2 camera which has Photosphere it in, not the stock app itself.
Well photosphere seems to be pretty much a functional failure on the Dinc, but the new gallery app is pretty cool. It's fast (it took some time to 'settle in'), plus the photo editing features are pretty neat. I'm liking it!

The 4.2 camera being discussed in this thread had been ripped from the Nexus 4 and patched by Android Police (I believe) to work on other phones. I don't have the link handy, but I'm not sure it would do you any good anyway. What are you trying to fix? The camera (except for video recording) works on tiny's CM10, works better than the 4.2 camera actually because the camera preview goes nuts sometimes on the 4.2 camera, and tiny's CM10 uses the legacy (ICS) camera which does not have the preview issues. If you really want the 4.2 camera, an easier way to get it is to flash tiny's CM10.1, but like I said, this will have the preview issues. The only difference between the default CM10.1 camera and the patched 4.2 camera is Photosphere, which does not work on our phones anyway.
If you're looking for a camera 'fix' for CM10, the only thing that needs fixing is the camcorder, and for that you have two options:
1. Low-quality video recording with VideoCam Illusions, free on the Play Store
2. Use a Gingerbread (or older) ROM.
sorry for misunderstanding, I've been looking everywhere to figure out the issues I'm having with this dinc. I can't get the camera working or Netflix running tinys cm10. I don't think it's the Rom but I can't figure out where I've gone wrong. I've been lurking these forums for a while and have been able to troubleshoot the three other devices pretty good with the amazing info on here, but this one is getting the best of me at the moment. bought this dinc reconditioned, it was running 2.3.4 and I followed a tutorial to downgrade to 2.2 and root and get s-off with cwm. I upgraded to the latest cwm recovery and have flashed this rom 3 times trying to make sure it was clean. just keep getting a black screen when I try any camera app until it force closes. when I play a movie on Netflix everything works but the video is a black screen, even the sound plays. I realize this is in the wrong place but I can't post in dev yet, maybe I should start a new thread?

Netflix is broken on this device past gingerbread. I've yet to hear a single user report video on Netflix as working.
Do you remember having a working camera when you first started using it? It could be hardware failure for the camera. Also which gapps file did you flash? If you flashed the wrong one it could cause funkiness. If you didn't flash any, the camera should be working. I know that doesn't make sense but try to answer these questions as best as you can.
I followed the link to the gapps from tinys cm10 thread and downloaded jb 20121011 signed. I'll try without gapps tomorrow to see what that does. I hadn't begun to look into the Netflix issue yet so thank you for saving me the time on that. if that's not the right gapps then I'll try another, I appreciate the help, thank you. thanks for an awesome Rom btw, I have yet to find one this nice for any other device I'm using. Happy New year!
