I received my MSL code from a sprint rep by email today, but when i do either the ##786# or ##3282# methods for updating the PRI, after entering my password, i get a message that says:
"Check password error, please try again."
Has anyone else had this happen? Does this just mean the sprint rep just managed to give me the wrong 6 digit MSL code?
yeah you probably just got the wrong code *2 and ask somone to give it too you it took me 5 min to get a rep that knew how to get it and off i went

If anyone has any idea how to get to the point where you have to enter the msl # (which I already have) please post it here.
Thank you
wat r u trying to do?
You may try the following
##778 [SEND]
##778# [SEND]
On some network/device, this one might work
##DATA#
or if you're trying to program your phone ##MSL# should do it, replacing MSL with your actually MSL Code.
Some device/network might work with # at the end of the command, some might need an extra [SEND] to be press
##778 does not work
Thank you for your help.I was not clear what I wanted to do
here I was not clear is a post from ppcgeeks19-FIX THE SLOW RINGER
To do this, you will need your MSL, which only Sprint (or your provider) can provide you. Open up the phone app and dial ##778# (PST). You will be asked to enter your MSL. Enter it, and you will be brought into the provisioning of your phone. From the top left, select Modem Settings. On this page, your Slot Cycle Index (SCI) is how often your phone polls the tower for incoming calls, etc. This value is 1.28 seconds multiplied by 2^value (i.e 0=1.28 secs, 1=2.56secs) with 0 fastest, 7 slowest. The default is 2, but lowering it to 1 hasn't noticeably affected my battery life, and roughly 2.5 second (SCI 1) response time is far more reasonable than roughly 5 seconds (SCI 2)
hope this helps Thank you

I've tried this 'hack' but didn't notice any difference .... and for the record, I'm w/ Bell
u might have better luck in a telus-based community.... try this one

##778 followed by send works for me. I couldn't get it to work for the longest time (using ##778# Send) but it now works everytime with ##778.
Same problem. ##778 [send], ##778# [send], ##3282 [send], ##3282# [send] ect..... None of these work. I have a Sprint Touch. I actually need to get to this menu to fix some other issues (error code 67 and 1012). I got my MSL number from sprint, but i cant get to this menu. Anyone else have this problem and care to help me out? Thanks.

My Sprint Touch works with ##DATA# (no need to hit send)
So, ##3282# should work for you.

I must be missing something really stupid here. Press talk to open phone dialer, type in ##3282# and the menu should just come up? Ive done this on my last phone (a900) and it worked. As soon as i hit the last # the "service" menu just came up. But nothing on the Touch. WTF. Anyone else have this issue?

Thats it. You're doing it right. Only other suggestion is give the phone a soft reboot. Maybe there's something in memory causing problems.

Soft reboot and nothing. Sprint is about to get a call.

L A M E .
Called into sprint and had the glorious opportunity to talk to someone that just passed ESL. (english as a second language) Told them my problem, that i tried a client initiated IOTA update, soft resets ect. They instantly told me to reset the device. Got to an actual tech and they were stumped.
I pressed ##3282# and NOTHING happened. They were speechless leaving me no choice but to hard reset. ****. Gotta spend some time pulling off programs / files / reg settings and reset the beotch. I did get a nift number from them though, well, 2 actually. My MSL number (concidering having it engraved in my phone), and a higher tier direct tech support number.
877-809-6696 - Give it a shot if you need it.
Ill update on the progress. Cheers.

Trying to edit some things on the epst. What is the default password for ##data# then edit? Thanks
there is no 'default', every phone has a different one and its called MSL code
see thread on how to retreive yours, or try calling sprint customer service to request it from them.

I used that thread to get mine. Very quick and easy.
Or you can call sprint and ask for your msl. They will generally give it to you if you ask.
Or if you have a backup phone, you can do an online esn change. Change once, and then back and it will tell you the msl
worked great for me, just getting around to finding my MSL. I did it on an XP laptop and the device was named HTC Diagnostic and not the HTC USB modem.
I'm noticing 3 strange things:
1) when I go to Settings > About Phone > Phone Identity, my "Phone Number" field shows a different number then mine. They're both in the same area code but it's not mine. I can't edit this.
2) In the Settings > Call > Voicemail Settings, that same wrong phone number shows up. This one I can edit but even then it leads to #3.
3) The voicemail dials the wrong number listed even though I changed the voicemail number. I also receive from time a popup saying that voicemail activation was delayed (or something to that effect). When I do receive voicemails, I receive a text message asking to call a number to retrieve it. Doing so prompts me to enable the service if my phone doesn't have voicemail or something like that. Turned it on and now I can get my voicemail by calling that number.
I should also state that this very same problem happened when I originally got my Evo and I spent about 2-3 hours at the Sprint store talking to one of their tech support on the phone to fix it. But I don't recall having to do anything on my end; it was all the tech supports doing but don't know what.
This has now happened since I rooted and flashed Fresh Evo 3.3. I'm guessing the wiping data/cache removed something that had been fixed?
Hope someone can give me a hand. It'd be much appreciated else I gotta go back and spend 2-3 hours with tech support again. :/
Get your MSL using the MSL tool in the market.
go to the dialer and do a ##786#, do a factory reset(what ever its called in there), its going to ask you for your password, put in the MSL. The phone will do a complete data wipe and reboot. On reboot it will do a complete provision with Sprint.
May work, may not. If not, back to Sprint store.

[EDIT: I just figured it out. Hit Menu and then Reset at which point it prompts for the MSL code]
Got the MSL, went to phone and dialed ##786# at which point it says "Retrieving Settings" and brings up the "Reverse Logistics Support" screen. Is this the screen you were referring to? I ask because it did not ask for the MSL password nor did a wipe. Of interest though, I do see an entry for Mobile Number and another one that looks like a cell number but is different then the other; the field is called MSID.

Your MSID can be a totally different number than your cell number, mine is. Mine ended up this way when i ported my number off ATT and it has been this way through 4 different phones.
Just the wipe and it went through hands free activation and PRL & Firmware update checks. Unfortunately, the phone identify still shows the wrong number.
So... guess it's of to sprint store?

Why I wonder if this is not as a result of porting from AT&T as well. Man I really wish I knew what that tech support had done to resolve the issue.
I want to know if someone knows how to put certain Sprint numbers on the whitelist so only we would have access to the Airvana.
I don't want next door neighbors hooking up to the Airvana. I called Sprint and as always I can't understand how most of them still have a job. The rep gave me a bull**** answer and told me that I would have to do it once I log into my account online.
He explained where it was so I logged in and told him to talk me through the steps. Needless to say it wasn't there and his response was "they're still updating your website so you'll have to wait".
Does anyone know how to add 2 numbers to the allowed list to prevent outsiders?
You can block/add numbers from your online sprint account under "my devices and media" and on the right is "i want to........." select update my airave

MMS, data, voice all work fine. I can receive SMS. SMS was working before. This problem occurred after I flashed a custom ROM and then restored the backup from CWM. My Nexus is on Straight Talk using stock rooted ROM.

Try changing the SMSC (SMS Centre) number.
You need to dial
*#*#4636#*#*
and select the first option.
Telekom (GER) offers a service to setup everything for you.
Had the same issue before.

How do I find/ what is my smsc number?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Getting the real SMSC for android is a bit tricky
1.) Find the SMS centre number of your carrier (e.g. for t-mobile DE -> +49 171 076 0000)
2.) go to http://twit88.com/home/utility/sms-pdu-encode-decode
3.) Enter the SMS centre number in the field "SMSC" and clear receiver and the message "How are you?"
4.) Click on "Convert"
5.) On the right side you'll see something like (in my example)
0791947101670000110000910000AA00
the first two digits show you the length. (7)
6.) 7x2+2 = 16 (+2 cause of the length needed[?]); Mark 16 digits from the start of the number. (here 0791947101670000) Thats your SMSC Number.
Go back to
*#*#4636#*#*
first option, scroll down to "SMSC" and enter your SMSC, click the button directly next to the input field.
Leave this screen and go back to it. Scroll down to the SMSC section and click the right button. (if everything is correct, you should now see the correct SMSC number instead of "00")
If you need further help, feel free to send me a PM.
Thanks a lot. That link is dead but I found a post with the number:
07913121139418F0 which worked for an ATnT customer and now it's working. I'm about to search for another udp encoder so I can use the proper straight talk smsc. Much appreciated!

DUDE!!!! Double thanks for posting this question and SMSC number. I am on Straight Talk and had somehow got my SMSC wiped. Its been a week raising hell with ST when I read something about the no SMS and their SMSC reading as 00. Checked mine and sure enough 00. Thanks again.

NO KIDDING! I was having the same problem, and now it's fixed, thanks to you guys! ST is not very helpful over the phone, however I have found they have much better customer service over facebook.
I tried using the number in this thread and the att number and I still cannot send messages. When I refresh the smsc number after entering the att number, I get the same number with an extra 0 at the end. I know why it was wiped, I just cannot get it back. No matter which number I try, I still get a message not sent error

I hope you got this sorted. But it needs to be said your SMSC number is carrier specific. My carrier is Straight Talk specifically but I am using the At&t MVNO not the T-mobile. Since my service is through At&t's network, I'm using At&t's SMSC number. You will need to find or decipher your carriers SMSC.

I ended up getting it. My code was exactly the same but when I tried it, I did not capitalize the letter and it would not work. As soon as I did, it worked so all is well
