[Q] App to cycle power? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking for an app that could be programmed to cycle on and off the DINC's power cord.
I'd like to be able to leave my DINC plugged in, but have the app switch between battery power and charge mode at intervals.
For example, it could be set to charge for 60 minutes, then "trick" the phone into thinking the power cord isn't plugged in for 15 minutes (forcing battery power and not taking any power from the cord), then repeat this cycle. I'd like for these times to be user changeable.
Does anything like this exist? Would it even be possible?
Thanks for any advice

I asked one of the developers of an app, and they said that the ability to turn power off requires root, and they were not sure they wanted to redevelop their app to include rooted functions.

Power/Hardware Problem?

I recently got my wife an Excalibur (I've been cooking/flashing Kaiser Roms for a while) and unlocked/upgraded it without issue.
She's been using the phone several weeks, until the following series of symptoms began:
1. Phone shuts down several seconds after booting up - sometimes with shutdown screen/noise, sometimes without.
2. Phone will not boot up again until battery is removed and reinserted, at which point it automatically boots (without depressing power button).
3. Phone shows full battery and charging light indicates charging while on, but will not appear again after shut down.
4. Phone will NOT hard reset using soft-keys + power, or enter bootloader using camera button, and thus cannot be hard-reset or re-flashed.
The only (non-ruining) possibility I can think of, which I'll look into, is mis-sensing the power button permanently depressed (which may initiate shut down after boot-up and prevent bootloader/hard reset?).
That, or some bizarre hardware/power issue.
Any ideas?
Thanks for any help...
I'd buy "borrow if can" a branded battery like simplo and see if you have a battery issue?
Also worth considering is the charger what happens when plug in via USB?

Want this to turn on without pressing the power button??

I've seen many different tablets that do it.. Its being installed in a car and would like it to power on when it reads, power is connected/charging..
Then turn off when not charging..
Basically I do NOT want to have to press the power button..
Is there zero lack of roms for this unit right now? i assume, it looks kinda dead in here
There is an app that does that. I use it for my car as well. When I have it plugged in, it sets the screen timeout to never and when I unplug it, it sets it back to 2 minutes. It is called Power Manager

[Q] Wonky Battery

Anybody else experienced this? Same issue persist on stock rom, so I think my battery is shot.. Any tuips or suggestions are appreciated. Battery never charges past 73%, used to be 83%. And constant drop of power.
Have you tried to charge it in Power Off mode (hold power button down for 5 seconds and then choose Power Off) wait a few seconds for it to shut down, then try to charge it - you should see a battery icon, see if it will reach 100% in that state (can press the home button or power button to check status it should show 100% when charged)..
If not make sure you are using the official Samsung Charger and Cable - there are a lot of Chinese knockoffs so try to use originals.
(The reason I ask to try in power-off mode is because it eliminates abusive apps , CPU, Screen On , WIFI, BT, GPS and other settings from sucking power, Power Off mode ensures all the power goes directly to the battery)

Phone not turning on.

Hi. So after a long wait I got my Zenfone 2 ZE551ML today. The first thing I did was turning it on and it turned on normally, then I proceeded to make the initial setup (logging into google account, etc) without any problems. Then after about 10 minutes of use the phone suddenly turned off with the battery being at around 35% and didn't want to turn on again. I read that old firmware (like the one that comes default with the phone) had battery display errors so I thought the phone had run out of battery, so I charged it for 8 full hours and I unplugged it now. To my surprise the phone is not turning on either. The only way I can make the screen show something is by connecting it to the charger, it vibrates and displays a white battery icon, eventually changing to fully green (fully charged battery, the green led indicator also appears) only to disappear like 3 seconds after. Can't turn the phone on while charged and can't even make the phone show the battery icon again (unless I unplug and plug again, repeating the cycle). So, what can I do to turn it on?
Thanks in advance.

I have a feeling that you did not hold the power button long enough. Disconnect the charger first, and wait for about 10 seconds. Then, hold the power button for at least 6 seconds. The phone should then vibrate and then you may release the power button. Other reasons why your phone may not seem to be turning on at all might be due to the back cover not being fully locked in, thus not making any contact with the power on the motherboard itself.
Do report back the results.

I did. Doesn't work. I also removed the back cover and pressed the power button with nails with no results either. Personally I think there's something to do with the power button as it doesn't even responds while charging (pressing it should display the battery icon) and the only time I could use the phone it didn't work to wake up the phone or setting it to sleep, only double tapping worked. What is strange is that it worked the first time I turned on the phone though.
Are you able to get into FastBoot mode? If so please try performing a hardware reset including wipe cache partition. Please see the following:

I got that several times when connecting my phone to the PC. I removed the back plate and disconnected the battery, after reconnecting phone booted up.

Stock Tab S 10.5 won't turn on, then stuck on logo screen

I just received a used Tab S 10.5 from a reputable Ebay supplier. It didn't turn on initially so I plugged in the charger and it showed a solid gray battery icon with a solid white lightning bolt. I assume that means it's fully charged. Still wouldn't turn on with the power button so I tried holding the power and volume buttons together. I'd get a short vibration after 6 or 7 seconds and the battery icon would go off but it wouldn't start. I finally got it to start (not sure what I did differently) but now it has been stuck on the Samsung Tab S opening screen for several minutes. I tried turning it off with the power button but holding it down for about 10 seconds had no effect so I let it go and the logo screen stayed on.
Before I contact the supplier for a refund or exchange I would like to know a few things. Are the Samsung Galaxy Tabs finicky about turning on? Any known issues with power buttons? What's the proper procedure with the power button alone doesn't work? I've seen both power + volume down and power + volume up.
Update 30 min after original post: my assumption about the battery icon was incorrect. I tried turning it on again it worked and the battery showed 3%. I started the setup but just connecting to my network drained the battery down to 0% (even though it's plugged into the charger) so it shut off. At least I know now I'll have to wait a few hours.

Since the issue has been resolved (and was due to inadequate information on my part rather than a problem with the tablet), I am asking the moderator to remove this thread.
