Swype v1.60.36.8214 - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

i saw on some sites Swype v1.60xxx is released. the version on jg4 firmware is 1.58xxx
is it possible to upgrade our version?

hi
it is possible to update it.. or well you have to uinstall the 1.58 version first and then install the 1.60 version
since im a n00b i have no clue how to do that.. sorry for the poor answer

do you mean we have to remove our "built-in" version first? we cannot update on top of it like a normal app?

I couldn't overwrite mine, nor uninstall it on an un-rooted device. Im not sure it's possible either since its classed as a system app.

that is correct, we can not update from 1.58 to 1.60 with the 1.60.APK.. we need to uninstall the 1.58 first

Right, no root with the latest OTA. Just give it time, it was only released recently.

Flash 10.1 update ?

I have seen this article:
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010...=Feed:+TheBoyGeniusReport+(Boy+Genius+Report)
That means our Flash 10.1 is Beta, but I can't find Flash in Market. So how can I update it ? Thanx
UPDATE: It looks like currently only Nexus One owners are seeing the option to update to this latest version.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-hacks/70993-flash-player-10-1-download-droid.html
I remember being able to install the 10.1 update when I had the DeFroSt Rom on my phone that made it report as a N1. And I could get that update. Can't remember the DeFroSt Rom version tho

can anyone advise what files we need to remove on roms that have the beta version baked in? new market version won't install on my rooted Desire...
Usually called "install_flash_player.apk" in /system/app by most ROM developers. Guess look for something with the name of "flash". Then in /system/lib there is also a libflashplayer.so. You should also delete that.
Remember both can only be removed in recovery since they are in /system.
Why someone can see the update and someone can't?

Sense ROMs can't see the update (unless they're already on the final version). Anyone know the full build number?

the full build number should be 10.1.92.8
Is there a way to update this? As far as I know this should be also a security update.
I'm on 10.1.7x.x so obviously in need of said update - hopefully it'll kick in at some point!
Yeah, got it today, running defrost in Sweden, no longer beta version.
There are apk's of the final version of flash floating around on the internet, I picked up a copy from /r/Android section of Reddit. It's working fine for me. Can't give url atm, sry.

Yeah, I second that. I just installed the .Apk which I found from a link in a forum. there's no need to uninstall the beta which is bundled with the 2.2 update. The final version just installs over the top as an upgrade. it also gives you the option to remove the update if required by using the "applications" menu in "settings".
Haven't noticed any differences yet though.

This is the link for the final build, snatched from Reddit.
Thanks for the link, installed fine on my Desire. Has anyone noticed any differences in performance since updating?

I suppose this gets installed in RAM alongside with the beta version found in Android 2.2 Froyo?
Can it be installed so it replaces the existing beta version, avoiding to double the space required?
Maybe a package that can be installed with ClockWorkMod recovery?
Thanks for the link. But flash occupies 12.5mb on my desire!! Thats insane! As it is there is so little space to install apps, and with this, it becomes even worse.
when installing, it actually offers upgrade, so I presume it doesn't install twice

ram is random access memory and has nothing to do with storage, this will install in data/app, if you have one already on your fone just use adb to remove installflashplayer.apk from /system/app/
so with froyo, we have Flash and Flash lite ? Any way to remove the lite thing ?

I cant update my latest OTA update on my rooted (2.2)desire

I have a 2.2 rooted desire, I tried to install the OTA update manually and and OTA with my gold card in but it isnt installing. Can anyone please help.

You might want to provide a little more info, such as the version details from the About Phone section.

hope this is helpful.
Android Version : 2.2.
Software number : 2.09.405.8.CL218634 release keys
Thanks in advance
According to the HTC Website, the latest build should be 2.10.405.2.
I'm not so hot with rooting / gold card stuff myself. Perhaps check / post in one of the threads specific to that?
The updates offered by the latest build aren't really game-changing, though.
1.Android OS update patch 2.Enhanced multi inbox Gmail support 3.Improved Russia keyboard layout

You cant install a OTA update on a ROOTED phone. Either u unroot the phone or wait for newer version of the custom rom.
Yes you can I have done this before. Tell the update to just download. Go into clockwork mod and disable signature checks and the other one im forgetting what its called . Tne go back to the main menu and press apply update.zip

GGGrate question about the official 2.3

Is it possible to root it? I don't want to see it unrootable after it's updated.
PS: I ask this question doesnt mean I have received the update
Kinda hard to say when it isn't out yet? It's probably not rootable because it's quite hard to root everything from 1.72 and up already.
Are we not confusing Android and Firmware versions here?

It doesn't change the fact that Android 2.3 update will have a higher firmware version than 1.72 and will probably be unrootable.

True enough.
Thanx for all your replies!
But that makes think whether to update or not when there is a update available.
A lot of apps cannot be used if updated
You can always wait for the devs to make a custom rom from the update.

I used a build prop editor to change the text for my model number so that the store would allow me to install Han com Office, where it normally would would not. Don't know if it will work with this app though because an older version is already installed. Or it might cause issues. but I'm thinking of giving it a try.
any update here? did u make it work somehow?
Any news about this? Seems impossible to update snote ?
