Update v2.2: occasional bug when hitting the menu fixed.
Update v 2.1: some minor cosmetic changes and some links to some useful info added (only for this version: uninstall the old one and do a fresh install of this 2.1 version . In the future updates can be installed over 2.1 again)
UPDATE v 2.0: now with editable buttons.
Here's an app that will launch some of the codes on the Galaxy S. I wrote it because I was tired of entering those codes in the dialer manually.
I used some of the codes I found in this post.

Instead of a donation you can buy the app from the market if you want to support my work (50 eurocents). It's up to you though. You can download the app here for free.
(Search for SGS Info on the market)
Download
Newest version is SGS Info v2.apk
You can download it direct to your device and install it from there.
Notes
About the Handset volume: it's a bug in the system. If you first select this menu from the service menu and you press then the handset volume button, you will get straight to the handset volume menu. Didn't notice that. Will update later, or you can edit that button yourself
If you wish, you can also enter phone numbers and use the buttons as call-shortcuts.

That's a nice idea. Thanks for sharing your tool (quite hard to remember service menu code by heart)...
Great tool, thanks.
great utility!
yes, i've entered those codes so many times i've memorized them already, however, it's still annoying having to type all those *#*# etc etc etc
that saves a lot of time

The "factory data reset" button triggers a screen in which you have to push another button to clear the phone. Did the help text worried you?
@all are there some other codes that are interesting to implement? The IMEI button is kinda redundant because you can get the IMEI number with the first menu option. I could exchange that option for another one..
Also the factory data reset points to the same menu as the one that can be accessed via the settings menu.
So if there are new interesting codes let me know, I will put them under a button
for the Factory reset, did you use this code?

other wise there is no much point, when people ask for factory reset they usually want everything to be wiped out.
maybe add a new button and call it DELETE ALL PERSONAL DATA

Yeah, but without any warning??? What's that all about? I entered the code and *bam* goodnight, goodbuy and good luck I thought I saw something passing by like press a button to go on. But I tell you, if you enter the code and you see a little waiting animation and a big yellow warning, the first thing you do is press ALL buttons at once
maybe add a new button and call it DELETE ALL PERSONAL DATA

Thankfully Microsoft didn't change anything in their 'protection' of the WP7 emulator image. Following the same steps as the previous build, I was able to unlock the new 'April Refresh' emulator image. It's largely the same but here's what I've noticed.
It seems a bit more buggy. I've noticed some odd screen drawing issues and even jaggy lines. Maybe it's my laptop?
Most apps seem slightly updated and more polished. A few quirks here and there.
Phone! Yup, you can see the dialer and it even fakes working.
Office is actually working. Looks like the apps shown in the videos they released.

Unlocked Emulator bin v2 (multiupload) (fast mirror)
To launch it use the same process as before... "xde.exe WM70C1AprilUnlockedv2.bin"
Gizmodo posted a How to: Try Windows Phone 7 now. Although that was for the previous build, the same general steps apply. You'll just need to use the emulator bin above and the new Dev tools CTP - April Refresh. It will NOT work with the February release.

Are you using the old XDE or the one released yesterday? I haven't tried it in the previous one but I'm guessing this is the cause.
I missed the registry entries for the settings in the original one. I updated the OP with the corrected file.

I put the .bin in /.../microsoft xde directory and launch xde.exe and it doens't start :/

Perhaps you should post that on the OP, to prevent these questions as last time it was unlocked...
Anyone have any ideas as to why the other apps (mail, facebook, etc) won't connect? It's gotta be some stupid registry entry like the rest of the "unlocking" or maybe just in a XML file somewhere. I'm fairly certain that they're using "SNService" for windows live and facebook status update type stuff and ActiveSync with some new plugins for Live mail, etc.

Sorry for being fussy here, cause I've always been a user of Mediafire, it gets the job done easily, so I kind of like it. Multiupload usually causes Megaupload to reject my ip, saying I have an elevated number of requests, bla bla. Rapidshare works only after a number of tries with the different server under advanced options, and the only one i use is zShare, and it sucks cause it downloads at unstable speeds(i get a speed ranging from 30kbp/s and 100kbp/s) while my max speed is 300kbps! Well, thanks for reading. It's okay if you don't change, I can live on.
EDIT: I saw the 100mbits server website, thanks freedom! although this is still a suggestion for the hosting of your files. thanks
This thread is dedicated to enhance/optimize Blackstone button layout.
I've started this thread because I would like to test rootfs image made especially for Blackstone. For now it's about the new key mapping. We (the Blackstone users) were missing the "Recent Apps" menu until recently when Stickman89 made some progress in this area but unfortunately he retired. Now his rootfs is outdated and this is where I took over. My rootfs is a modification to the latest official one and includes the new key mapping. The goal here is to have "Recent Apps" menu AND power button fully functional at the same time (and possibly merge upstream when the work is done here).
Native Android device is required to have at least 5 buttons. They are: Power/Sleep, Vol Up, Vol Down, Home, Menu, Back. Our device has 6: Power/Sleep, Vol Up, Vol Down, Call, Home, Back, End Call. This means we can have all the buttons like in Android device only if we sacrifice Call or End Call. Call is also used to do BT voice dialing and I don't want to break this option when BT will be fixed. End call on the other hand is only needed to end calls and there are other ways of doing this (map power button in Accessibility menu or use on-screen End call). I've decided to have Home button acting as a menu and End Call as a home key (because it really doesn't change much except End Call is the real HOME now).
Here's how the new button layout looks like:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

**UPDATE: 11.4.2011**
You can now have Home button working as HOME and End Call button being MENU. To try this simply add: physkeyboard=blac to your startup.txt cmdline. Without this parameter button will be mapped like in my previous rootfs (see picture above).
As a bonus I've cooked a new zImage + modules. Nothing really dramatic - just bringing JB's audio shuttering patch to the latest official kernel.
/UPDATE

THIS IS WORK IN PROGRESS. IT IS VERY UNLIKELY TO CAUSE ANY DAMAGE BUT BE AWARE: YOU CAN USE IT only AT YOUR OWN RISK. I CAN'T BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO DATA AND/OR HARDWARE CAUSED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY BY MY RELEASES
[/LEGAL BS]
TROUBLESHOOTING (if one step doesn't help - move to another):
1. Backup your data and delete data.img.
2. Format your SD card.
3. Use the latest official rootfs (if it's working report it here).
4. Try the latest Xdandroid release (other builds my not be compatible).
5. Find the setup (kernel/system/rootfs) that works fine.
6. If it's still not working - ask here.
Been using this for days and no problems, it works great.
First times you have to remember to end call with power button, but the small call icon in notifications does the trick XD
Also been using since first posted with audio stuttering fix - been great.
With your kernel + rootfs, I can't have geolocalization anymore on Froyo X red.

It's doubtful at best that if you change rootfs you can continue calling it froyo x red. This is based in stock FRX05 XDAndroid, which I encourage using.
Anyway, it works perfectly for me, try updating QuickGPS within WM before booting Haret

These device-specific replacement files are totally the bomb!
I had been thinking about a special thread like 'How to make it work on a Blackstone', where we could collect quickfixes, workarouds and special files, but apart from the rootfs and kernel there's not much else wrong with the terrific FRX05 and GBX0A releases. The latter not even being beta yet!!!

only hope battery time 10 a 11 houre i hope
in the future that make longer ...
go on with this nice work !!
Thank You Very Much for the rootfs..working great..
This is just a suggestion from me.....what do u think of making the real home button as the HOME BUTTON and End Button as Menu Button....and same for top button as sleep.....??
The keymap works great on neopeek ROM as well by replacing the keymaps files to the install file before doing npkinstall.

Another thing, considering the 'issues' there have been regarding, well, let's just say it's not helpful spamming that stuff all over the place. There is a thread about tiad's new project, so it would be best to put anything to do with that right there.

You should be able to swap back and forth by simply deleting or re-adding this parameter. I've tried both setups on a single data.img and it worked every time.

EasyWP7Updater
Hello hackers!
Earlier today I started working on a project that should make updating Windows Phones via cabs easier. It's called EasyWP7Updater. Currently only manual cab sending is enabled, you can grab cabs from the official update list thread or if you have a custom rom, your rom author might offer customization cabs.
Downloads: https://github.com/jessenic/EasyWP7Updater/downloads
Bug Reports and Feature Requests: https://github.com/jessenic/EasyWP7Updater/issues
Source code: https://github.com/jessenic/EasyWP7Updater/tree/
Future homepage: http://jessenic.github.com/EasyWP7Updater/
Please test and report all bugs you might find either responding to this thread or by posting them on the Issues page on Github. Feature requests are also welcome.
In the future I'll allow ROM builders to add cabs in the app, stay tuned!
I'll definitely hop on board to help =)

What the difference between xboxmod's cab sender and your?
will this app relock the phone when after updated?
xmod cab sender has this problem.
Really, @Magpir?!? That's just a matter of the CAB itself. It has nothing to do with the CAB sender. You'd get the same behavior if you update manually using any CAB sender, or if you update using the official Zune mechanism. It's already known what causes the re-lock (the "prevent relock" registry values that normally have the MS server where you phone checks its expected lock setting are restored by this update). It's also known how to avoid the problem (http://windowsphonehacker.com/artic...date_be_forewarned_possible_solution-06-28-12).
@jessenic: Nice project! Are you planning to include "fake an update just to take a backup" as a feature? It would be nice to narrow down the number of apps needed.

At the moment there is no big difference, but in the future my app will let you download cabs from ms servers in a simple way too.
Just tried it, and it works fantastic! Although, similar to other senders, this one should be easy and familiar to those who do not hack much. This makes it much simpler.
Since it's open source, are you allowing people to include it in other archives? I've downloaded and compressed the updates, added cab sender, then uploaded it for easy installation. Can I do that with this if I give you credit?
Thanks for your hard work. Great Job!

We are adding automatic download for all OS versions, it detects the one on phone and shows latest versions and tells the user how to check which language packs are installed. That's the plan at least.

It solely depends on how ROM packages are built. Have you noticed "Shadows" tab in DSM editor?

Yeah that part needs some fixing. Its already on my todo-list.
Edit: Oh and the backup is in the default Zune backup folder, you can restore it with Zune.
This is an awesome tool. Thank you very much for making the update process painless.
My one suggestion would be to add a progress bar so the user can how many more steps the software has to go through.
Thanks again.

I just switched from using Nexus 5 to LG G3, I was really excited for this phone that I went and got the Korean version. The phone is SO LAGGY and slow, it takes (1.5 ~ 2 seconds) to launch YouTube which is pretty slow compared to the Nexus, I need some help and I have no expertise at ALL in developers stuff:
- Can I turn the LG G3 into a Stock android ? similar to how the S4 GPE ?
- What's the difference between "Rooting" and "Custom Rom" ?
- I read in the development section of the forum (can't post a comment there since I'm a new member) and there is one topic that has a light version of the LG G3 system, it seems the system is much much faster and improved, the question is, is it safe ? the owner of the topic included a zip file to download and a video in a language I don't understand, could someone help do what he did ?

Hey, sorry to bother you, can you explain step by step what to disable and how to turn down the animation? I'm a newbie .. .
First go to apps manager, select the apps u want to disable. Then go to deinstall updates. After that go to the apps again, and there will be an disable button, but some apps u cant disable
2)go to settings-->Telefon Info -- Software Information- -- tap 5 times to build number now u are an developer.
Go to settings again ---- developer option-- enable it --- scroll down to the 3 animation who are set to 1x. All 3 animation turn to 0.5x
I hope i could help u , reply if it worked
Thanks a lot
it made the phone (a bit) better.
However, I would really be glad if someone can explain to me how to do the process step by step for the topic mentioned in the developers section titled (always stay update)
Careful when testing opening the YouTube app, as that app is notoriously slow opening compared to all other apps. It takes around 2 seconds on all phones, unless it's already open. (ie, in the RAM)

Thanks, I understand.
YouTube is not the ideal app to test the phone's speed, however, I will still HIGHLY appreciate your kind help with the topic I mentioned, another member posted in the developers section a thread named Always stay updated, which he explains a patch that you put in your phone to fix it, I really really need anyone's help to understand how the user did that, I have 0 experience in this.

Hey,
Thanks for the offer
I downloaded Teamviewer and I have all the files.
Add me as a contact, my email is jassim.almass @ gmail . com
Youtube takes a couple seconds to launch in every device, the problem is related to the app and not the phone
Sent from my Xperia Z1

The script is written in python so you need to have python installed (most linux distros come with it anyways). A download link is provided on GitHub.
How to use:
1. In order to have a flawless and smooth experience, back up your data and do a factory reset.
2. Enable USB Debugging
3. Download the program and run it. A window should pop up on your phone. Please confirm.
4. Type in "Y" if you are asked if you are running it for the first time. This will completely nuke your phone and leave you with a settings app
5. After thats done chose a preset (right now only the default Samsung one works!!!)
6. After its done you can either set up your phone like normal or chose from the other options (for example if you want software updates or NFC support).
If a feature you use gets removed:
1. Install package names viewer from play store and look for the package name of the app/feature.
2. Run the program and enter "N" if you are asked if you are running the script for the first time
3. Chose option 10 and enter the package name
If you encounter any other problems feel free to tell me about it here.

You just need to do a factory reset, no need to flash the firmware

Yeah, but why is this showing? ...
in which file?
!!! Warning
The program I used in order to compile the python file is probably malicious. The py file is undetected by virustotal but the compiled exe is. I will remove the download until I fixed the problem!
DO NOT RUN THE .EXE UNTIL I PROVIDED A NEW DOWNLOAD LINK!!!
NOICE! NICE
Update:
Ok I repacked the script without the malicious .exe. Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience. Now you also need to have python3 installed on windows. A download link is provided on GitHub.
Also, next release will add the missing features.
Have fun with my little script!
Works perfect.
Hope option 3 comes soon.
when i connect the phone to pc nothing happens, no popup.
usb debug on, i did factory reset.
i connect the phone and the phone asks me if i want to share files with pc, i consent and then i open up your program but nothing happens
Edit: well i solved coping the script in adb

Glad it worked and thanks for the positive feedback I'm working on the other options and will release them in the next couple of days. I'm a bit busy right now because of school but I try to deliver it as fast as possible

Nice to hear that you managed to solve the problem, however, did you try installing the USB drivers from Samsung? (either manually or by connecting your phone to your computer with usb debugging on and performing a windows update)
which applications are needed to make samsung findmyphone work and to enable backup of Secure Folders?
Can i remove google services with that too?
Are there any description what each of the options do? (more detailed?)
Can you please add an option to debloat GOS, game booster and Game launcher also any other system app that may be throttling the tabs performance?
Thanks

you can use ADB AppControl to find apps and remove it or find names and add it to this script
edit:
I also found Universal Android Debloater GUI

Yes but it is not a root debloat so you cant replace them with microg. To remove gms from your phone you have to choose option 11 and type in com.google.android.gms and com.google.android.gsf
