Using those themes people have created. Does it wipe anything or will it just change the appearance of the phone? Thanks.

Hello guys i have a few questions. I am planning on making several themes for the htc evo, very detailed ones. I want to put them on the market, but so far all the tutorials i have seen show how to make themes but only as a ROM.
Is there a way to:
1. Make an ap to install only the theme files.
2. How can i put the themes i make in the market.
I would rally appreciate any help.

1. look into "Metamorph"
2. I don't know
I am not sure how that would work in the market since Themes are not installable, they are flashable. Your are modding the existing installed apk's and then overwriting them back to the device by flashing it just like a rom.
Metamorph is the only way I know of other than flashing the themes to the phone... Sorry maybe someone has a better sugestion. Good luck I would love to see EVO Themes in the market.
I have a question about how to edit the icons that appear in the app drawer.
i have got 100's of icons from various packs that i would like to use. i have applied some but only the system icons change.
is it possible to change the user apps icons? if so what file do i need to change?
the phone is rooted on .42 build with stock kernel and stock rom.
the phone has bootloader unlocked using test point tho i have never bothered with using that option when it comes to modding the phone.
any info or suggestions.
thank you in advance
I've been looking everywhere to find where themes go when we download them from the market. I've looked in data/apps but no theme engine themes go there. Looked in System apps no themes go there. I want to modify one for myself. Could any genius out there please tell me where the market installs them? Thanks community
Edit. I think mnt/asec? If this isn't it I'm lost... Please to all you theme geniuses please chime in?

I've always seen them inside /data/app directory. You sure you didn't over look it? Remember it's using something like com.android.theme or something like that.

why not go to /data/apps, find the apk for the theme, copy and paste on your pc? then you could open the apk up and mod it from there...
Hey all I searched for my answer but couldn't come up with anything. I have downloaded some icon pack zip files and want to use them to change my icons for my apps. The only way I have found to do this is using root explorer unzipping the file and then long pressing the icon clicking it and using root explorer to search through to the folder and find the icon I want. This seems like a really long process to change every icon. Can you flash icon zips or how does it work?
Also another quick question. I just flashed Nexus Evolution 4.2.1 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907506 and then I tried to flash the dark horse theme that he links to in the second post. The ROM works fine without the theme but when I try and flash the theme, it sits at the boot screen forever and will not go any farther? Can you use any theme with any rom or how does that work?
Thanks
Nevermind about the icons, I was dumb and figured it out.
Anyone have any input on the themes

The icons are easier to change with a custom launcher like Nova or Apex.
You have to use themes built for the ROM. Some ROMs like CM & AOKP & others use the themechooser themes that you just select in settings.
Yeah the theme i tried was posted in the ROM that i downloaded so i figured it was fine.

Hi everybody. I am trying to make a new CM9 based rom. The design is quite amazing. I am using a great themechooser theme.
In CM7, If I wanted to set the default theme of a ROM I had to...
1. Decompile the theme, go to AndroidManifest.xml and copy the theme ID.
2. Go to build.prop and modify two lines adding the theme name and the theme ID (step 1)
3. Add the theme to system/app
In CM9 I tried to do the same but I cannot see those lines in build.prop. Those lines just don't exist!!
There are a lot of threads in XDA with the same doubt but any of them solved.
I hope a bright mind can solve my problem
THanks in advance.
UPDATE: I have exactly the same thing with CM10....

I've not themed CM7 but I didn't have to edit the build.prop for my CM9 theme, just the manifest and strings.xml.
What he means is he wants to make a theme a default for a ROM. Not make a theme himself. So in CM7 you could set a theme e.g touchwiz as default and then whenever anyone installed your ROM they would have the touchwiz theme as default but I'm not sure if you can do the same for CM9 mate sorry. Probably need to theme framework files yourself
