In DeFrost, the LED flashes different colours for notifications and charging and what not. Is it possible for these to be implemented in Open Desire?
Is it a kernel thing?
Or does the configuration lie in /system somewhere?
(Or is it a combination of both)
Thanks,
Josh.
Would also like to know.
AFAIK there is a LED patch for some android kernel-sources, that makes this possible.
Unfortunately I can't even find this for the kernel I'm working on, so I don't believe it's out for the OpenDesire Kernel by now

This would be a link with information about this
I havent tested the other notifications, but in messages if you go to settings > notification settings you have an option to change the led color when you receive a new message.

So in alot of the ROMS,
there was a Bug that when your phones notification was set off, i.e. SMS, Email, Twitter, Missed Call
the Notification LED would flash Blue, Purple, Green, Orange, Red.
And i have seen people make apps to turn on and test the LED,
But has anything further been done with it,
Like customisation for notifications, i.e.
Blue for Twitter
Green for Missed Call
Purple for SMS
etc etc
I would love to have different LED Colours for different notifications :-(
Anyone come across anything or know anything that i dont
Certain developers have included in their apps. Handcent for example will allow you to select the notification LED colour.
This feature is in the latest cyanogenmod roms, in cyanogenmod settings you can configure the led notification colours of any of your apps!
Edit: ignore me ... this definitely used to be in cyanogenmod settings but it's not in last nights nightly...

Handcent has the option correct
But does not work on the HTC Desire
st0kes i would be interested in a testing a version on cyanogenmod
But last time i tested was still a little buggy,
the default of ~3 second intervals between flashing is a bit slow for my liking. Is there any way to make it flash faster when there are notifications to be checked?
Man I can't stand the gap between flashes. The "did I just see it flash?" thing I deal with every day. And why can't it flash green while charging? Or flash a different color for text, email and missed calls/voicemail? It does green, orange and red, surely this can be assigned by some sort of voodoo or dark arts?
Eric
You can use a program called nueled to adjust the LEDs to some extent, I don't believe you'll be able to adjust the flashing speed, but you can redirect the behaviors to make it a steady light and with some control over the color of the light.
I personally use it to kill off the LED while charging / finished charging, so that I can plug it in and do a crossword or watch a recorded show before going to bed without the light blinding me.
Cool thanks, I'll check it out! Wow your first post. I'm honored.
Eric
Just following up on this, I installed the version on the first page of this thread (v1.5)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371391
and it didn't do anything. The scanning function gave a popup error I couldn't make disappear without pressing the Call End button. There was registry removal info in one of the posts in that thread but I also received an error like the poster had. The Remove Programs uninstaller didn't work either.
My Tilt2 is on its way out of my life at some point hopefully soon, but it would still be nice to control the LEDs somehow.
Eric
A developer here on xda named zevele created blinker which will control the led on the tp2. I downloaded it here on xda. I dont know exactly where it is but search the tp2 forums and youll find it.
For those who may search and find this thread, the link to the blinker app is in the HD2 themes and apps sub forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830299
Hi all! I'm trying to figure out if Desire Z would work for me, if I should buy it or not. I have read all the threads on led I could find but thngs are still unclear to me. My provider sells the Desire Z with android 2.2. still. I want to be able to use at least the 3 possible colors of notification led to set amber just for sms, green just for calls and red just for battery for example. From what I could find Led me know stopped working when 2.3. update came for Desire Z. If I DON'T update however, I can not completely understand which possibilities Led me know beta gives and which not. For example, can I choose which color I want for sms and frequency and lenght or will the color for sms be the phones' default one (if it has one).
Or is there any better application with which I could also update the phone and be able to shoose color, frequency, lenght? The pre relese for 2.3 Desire Z does not work right?
Also I can't seem to find anywhere where the led is located. Is it behind speaker girll like on sensation?
Thanks all!
Can't change colors if there is no color to change ;o). No the only colors you get are the ones you've seen already
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Really? I understand I can't get blue, magneta etc, but I can't even choose for example if I want red for sms and not green?
nope. i mean the app is free just try it. but the trackpad only has 1 color and the charge indicator only has the green and red.
led me know not really meant for our phones
I can't try it, I don't have the phone yet lol. I'm asking this in order to decide wheter or not I should buy it.
I don't understand why it is not at least possible to use the existing colors in customised way. If amber color does exist, why not be able to set it for sms?
How visible is the led behind the speaker grill? I have found it is hidden behind the grill right?
You can set the top led for red, orange, or green. The buttom (trackpad) is white only. Ledmeknow allows all that on 2.2... 2.3 it has problems with. If you want GB and led mods, go with light flow. But still red, green, orange only of course.
But yeah, the mixing doesn't work. All the newer HTC models are like that. I'm not sure why... but you can combo top and bottom led at the same time and they are all very visible. The top led is behind the speaker grill but is extremely visible still. Enjoy your new Desire Z/G2!
What do you mean by mixing?
Does Led me know or Light flow require root?
I've been flashing a couple different roms for my S2 and in all these custom ICS roms there is no settings to enable, disable or change the duration of the Touchkey lights in any of the setting menus?
For instance the" Code Name Android" rom and the Touchkey lights are totally disabled ?!

For stock based ICS like Calk's 1.6, it's under settings -> Display.
Thanks for the post but under my display settings I only have this:
-Brightness
-Wallpaper-
-Auto-rotate screen
-Sleep
-Screen Candy
-Font Size
-Pulse notification light
I'm a little lost here
Must be the rom. I also have:
Touch key light duration
where you can set on/off or time to turn off. Mine is 1.5 sec default. Maybe they removed or relocated it in the rom you're currently using. I'd say ask in the rom thread but I see your post count is low.
What rom are you running, maybe someone will be able to answer that question here?
Settings, device options, sensors, touch key, enable keys backlight.
So I don't know if it's on here or not but I came from a Samsung phone and so anytime a notification will go off it would flash a green light does the OnePlus 9 pro have that same feature or some type of light that could flash when a notification is on the device? Perhaps maybe there's some type of a magisk module that can utilize the camera ring around it to flash when there's a notification if it helps I am on a custom ROM. So I'm not sure if stock has it. Thanks.
On recent OnePlus phones, you'll find a function called Horizon Light (it basically lights the screen's borders when a notification is received), that is used for similar purposes, but there isn't a notification LED in the hardware.
I'm not sure if it is a function that is still in your custom ROM, but it is a stock ROM function.
Yeh, only aware of built-in horizon light , but it doesn't flash long enough to catch it....
Geez, how I miss the LED notification lights that older phones had.
Especially the ones that were multi-color so you could assign a different color for different notification types.

Technically, it wouldn't be impossible to recreate it with an app dedicated to modify the always on display features.
As AMOLED screens are basically tiny LEDs side by side, we could imagine a way to light or pulse specific ones to remplace the "missing" one. But it would be a trade-off, as those selected LEDs would be functioning and aging surely more quickly than the others.
There are a few apps out there that will use the AOD to create the appearance of a notification light or even continually flash the Horizon light bars and other custom lighting options however all 3 I've tried were glitchy and obviously drained the battery since it's using AOD to accomplish the notification light. Maybe if you're already used to AOD battery drain it wouldn't be so noticeable but I don't use AOD normally so the difference was very noticeable to me.

Yes, it's also a thing to consider, but I don't think the memory and power usage for only a black screen and a color dot would be that energy consuming. Did you notice a change that big when you gave a try to those apps?
look for notifybuddy on the playstore. works fine on my OP9Pro.
I didn't realize how much i relied on the notification light until it was gone. The AOD fits my needs, tho. Posted settings on another thread awhile back: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/horizon-light.4371367/#post-86085187
I may give notifybuddy a try, too
Would recommend this app. I've been using it on my oneplus devices last couple of year. There are a lot customizations too.
LED Blinker Notifications
i REALLY missed my notification LED (the last phone I had that had it was my old blackberry priv) then I got a smart watch and I don't care so much anymore
