Does anybody know if there's an app to do this?
I would like to be able to watch what my webcam/ip-cam sees at home, on my sgs.
maybe try this?
fring on SGS + skype in you home pc
i don't know of any other app that can do that at the moment.
but skype can talk to fring (voice over ip video conferencing app)
so if you hook up both of them, then you can do that
create a script to run every 15min at home pc, to connect to dial yourself and enable the video feed

I assume this is not an issue with Calkaulins rom. I am trying to initiate a gtalk video chat with someone computer or tablet that does not have a video. I want my son to be able to see me while I am overseas. I could not figure out how to initiate the video because it doesn't show and icon. Is this even possible? I know I have had a friend do it with me on my computer coming from their computer, but I am not sure how. Thanks for the help.
he has to install the google video plugin if using the gmail or just install the instant message program in windows.

I just bought and S II T989. I installed Skype from Google play. So I tried to take a video call from my laptop to the phone but the video call doesn't work for me. The video option shows up in the phone but when i select it, it doesn't load the video. I went to setting in Skype and enable video calling too. but nothing happened I don't know much about these, So please help me fix this issue.
it sometimes glitches and takes a few tries to get it working. happened to me. have you tweaked the settings?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Just get all your friends to use google talk with video or Tango. They are both way better than skype garbage.
I am trying to tinker around with some DLNA playback.. And not having it work..
I installed uPnP inspector, on my desktop.. Both my devices are right there.. But youtube has no 'cast to' icon which I thought it was supposed to have if DLNA was activated. I have a few other DLNA comnpatible players who also dont seem to be picking up any of my FireTvs
Do I need to add a DLNA client to (each of) the box or should this work by default ??
PlayTo is a good app for sending videos. An alternative that I prefer is Pushbullet. If you have XBMC/Kodi installed, install the Pushbullt addon and authorize it. It uses your Gmail account to send all files to your devices. You use your Gmail to log in also. After installing the addon, go to your program addons and edit the setting of the Pushbullet addon. You will want to set it to interrupt or media will not play til other media has stopped, and you will want to set it to play everything immediatly. I prefer Pushbullet over DLNA, cause you do not have to be worried about being connected to the same network. You can send several differnt types of things with Pushbullet, you can even send browser urls, which means if you are watching a video on one of your devices, you send the url to Kodi and the video will play on the Fire TV. Does not work for all video site, but it works for a lot of sites. BTW, you can find the pushbullet addon in services on Kodi, and it creates a UI in the program addons. So go to Setting, Addons, Get addons, All, Services and you will find it there.

I will give it a look but I am specifically trying to get DNLA working for a few video apps that should 'see' my boxes easily.. Popcorn time should give me a watch to button from my phone tablet or ipad..
Theres a spread of these.. iPlayer.. Etc.. Not all being inside kodi..
Really I just want a chromecast app.. but filing that DLNA should be the same.. Just it says DNLA is already built in, but my boxes while visible on the network, are not generating a watch to output location on any dlna enabled apps.
I told you that you need an app to send from your phone and I also told you that XBMC/Kodi was a good reciever app to recieve media. Also, Popcorn Time has a setting to use external players to send media to other devices. Just look in the list of players and install one. I recommend installing Playto and Wondershare player on you Android device to use as a sender, and simply using XBMC/Kodi on your Fire TV as the reciever. There is a setting in Kodi to turn on UPNP, turn it on and when you play videos in Wondershare or Playto on your Android device it will let you send the media to Kodi on your Fire TV. Playto is good for sending media, cause any app that has a share button can be shared with Playto and used to send videos etc. Say you are using the youtube app and wanna send a video to your Fire TV, click the share button, pick Playto, and when the video starts playing click the yellow play button and it will start playing on your Fire TV through Kodi. Of course you need an app to communicate with other devices, cause the device cannot do it on its own. Example, you have wifi, but how are you supposed to connect if there isn't a settings app to show you connections? Your device has DLNA/UPNP, but how can you use it without an app telling you where to send and recieve content? There has to be software to run the hardware. Think of it like a car, if you put it in drive where is it gonna go without the driver? The driver is the software the car is the hardware.
The Airplay apps for the AFTV are all unreliable. Is there an alternate method I can use to send video from my iphone or macbook laptop to the AFTV? Airplay is the only reason I continue to own an AppleTV. I'd like to get rid of it if I can only find a way to send video.
Thanks,
Joe
Pushbullet. Install Pushbullet on you phone, tablet or PC. It can be installed on PCs by an app or by using Firefox, Chrome etc extentions. Then install the Pushbullet addon inside Kodi. Its a service addon, but it creates an interface within the program addons. After installing the Pushbulllet addon in Kodi, find Pushbullet in the program addons and go to its settings and set it to interrupt and also set it to play instantly, cause if you do not the content you send from your device will not start playing until other media has finished playing. The best part is that you do not have to be on the same connection cause everything is sent by using your Gmail account. Just log into Pushbullet using Gmail and every device you have Pushbullet installed on will be connected. You can send things to one device or multiple devices at the same time. You can even send inbrowser videos from most sites. Lets say you are on your phone or tablet and wanna send a video from a site you are on, just click share and pick to share it with pushbullet and the video on that page will start playing inside Kodi on your Fire TV. Does not work on all sites, but most. If you have the firfox extention installed on your PC you can do the same, when you wanna send a browser video just click the Pushbullet icon and send it to Kodi. You can also set the Pushbullet up so that when you get notifications on your devices that they will show inside Kodi. If you choose to do that you will have to edit the settings inside the Pushbullet addon in Kodi cause you can pick the default amount of time that the notifications show, and I think the default only shows them for a second or two, but you can make them show for a lot longer.
Hi,
I have Sony 49XD7005. Is it possible to configure Google Assistant in way If I say OK Google, Google Assistant will listening? It is only working through remote and I want it works like Google Home speaker. So I want to plug in microphone into TV and use it as input.
I am working on this. I am using tasker and the join plugin plus ifttt. I can say a phrase to my google home which is always listening this will use ifttt to send a webhook to join on the tv. I can then use tasker to react to this message. I currently have it launch the Google assistant on the tv so I can say the command directly to the tv...ie change channel etc. Sometimes the google assistant bar comes up at the bottom of the screen but it doesn't activate the microphone and hence gets stuck. I am currently looking for a better way of opening Google assistant I have tried with keyevent 219 which is the number for the assistant button but this does not seem to work. I am open to suggestions.

There is also a way for with IFTTT and Webhook, where some json-body is posted to the tv. It's explained in this video on youtu.be/axj45IBkISg
I've tried it, but not managed it.
Maybe someone else can try and give a report here.
I have been looking into this some more. I am using a Google home mini and have linked this to ifttt that sends a join push using webhook service. Tasker then reacts to the join push using the adb shell plugin that executes input keyevent 219. I needed to run this command via adb as it would not work using terminal emulator alone. The downside to this setup is that I first need to say ok google for the Google home to listen then I have to say another command to send the join message and then say the command to the tv. This way works every time and has stopped the assistant bar from freezing as it was with the previous way. The only way to have the tv always listening is to use autovoice but this uses the microphone built into the remote and will not use the usb microphone I have plugged in. I think the problem with this is it will drain the battery in the remote quite quickly. I did use my android phone to send the join message when my phone opened google assistant as it is always listening. The only problem with this is that all my google devices in the room were listening at once causing some errors.
Hello, You have cool ideas to improve Android TV. I have a problem with Philips 49pus6412. I've been using this tv for two years. Until now, I had a USB microphone connected and everything worked beautifully. Now, after selecting the voice function, it only shows "Press the microphone and start talking" and nothing happens. I currently have TPM171E_R.107.001.101.002 The microphone starts working after a factory reset. And it works until I turn off the tv for tens of minutes. Anyone got any idea?
