Finally a good App to test your microSD speed & class rating - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Check out "SD Card Speed Tester for Android"

gonna run it against my cards when i get some free time

Nice find. Thanks.

it seems to be correct, my Class 6 4Gb SDHC gave me Write/Read of 6.0/9.0mb/sec. It isn't very accurate though, i'd like to see more detailed info.

Does it test external or internal memory?

External MicroSD card.
I tested my 2GB Nokia Class 2 and it came up with results that stated it was a Class 6. Happy with that.

Try typing SD Card

samsuamg class 6 made in korea, write speed: 8 MBs, read speed : 12 MBs

Not in the market for me either... No direct download?
Also not found when using barcode scanner, it is recognized but then gives a 'not found' error...

Okay... Just tried it again and it is STILL showing on The Market.
Again, all I typed was SD Card and it was the second item found.

I tried SD card and didn't show on the market. I tried SD Card Speed Tester and it did show.
My results are 9MB/s 11MB/s w/r and class unknown... The card came with the phone and it is a samsung one...
Edit: Second test game 9MB/s 12MB/s w/r.
Forgot to mention that it is an 8GB card.

Problem with Camera after using extsd2internalsd mod

Hi,
Whenever I take a picture or a video on my Note 2 if the storage is set to "Memory Card" the images or videos are corrupted and cannot be viewed, but once I set the storage to "Phone" it plays perfectly fine.
Anybody know what could be wrong? I'm using a 64GB Sandisk Micro SDXC Class 10 memory card formatted as FAT32.
Please help, this is the only irritating problem i'm finding after using this amazing mod.

Images or videos are not corrupted. Rather they have wrong permission. Since their permissions are rw------- with owner u0_a65. None of those graphic or video programs can open them. However if you manually change the permission to rw-r--r--, they can be viewed or played fine. I am looking for a solution on this issue as well.

SD card (too) slow?

Hello,
I compare my results with Antutu benchmark with other I found here and on the Internet.
My overall score is above 5300, but my concern is low read/write speed of my SD card:
(screen in attachement)
I have 32 GB SanDisk Ultra Class 10 with up to 30 MB/s read/write card. I know I wouldnt achieve such speed in practice, but I believe 5.6 MB/s write and 8 MB/s read is far too slow for that card and that phone.
I have second partiotion (for Link2SD) formatted with ext2 (2GB), the rest ("regular") partition is FAT32 (~30GB)
I am using Xperia Ultimate HD 2.0.3, stock kernel (locked BL)
Any suggestions?

sorry for that - it worked on my desktop. now file was moved to attachements
the read is slow, im gonna try antutu om my device, but cant install now. It says it dont have memory, but i have over half empty
edit:
What class is that sd-card?
It is class 10 card, 32GB, with up to 30 MB/s read/write (as declared by SanDisk
Yes, up to 30 MB/s. It means max that, but can be any speed lower from it
But Class 10 should be min 10 MB/s. Try formatting your SDcard, then check again.
It installed at least. Heres my results on stock sd card
If you got root try this:
Im not responsible for any harm that may happen, but this should be safe
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mehrmann.sdbooster
Install that app, ir similar
Set it to 1024, apply (best one for me, try your self. Dont go over 8000. 1024, 2048 and 3072 is safe)
Retest your sd card with antutu.
This is what i got on 1024

Great, thank you guys,
I think I will try booth suggestions - card re-format and SD card booster.
What is the option to back up partitions on SD cards?
I mean "second" partition that is not usually visible under windows, as it is second and ext2..
Or backup with TB, copy files to hdd, format and than copy back, and use backup to restore?
try to browse the second partition with WinRAR. It shows everything. If not use EASEUS Partition manager
Are there any published benchmarks for SD cards? I want to buy a 32GB card for use with Link2SD (i.e. apps running directly off the card) as well as for documents/media files, so I want it to be fast.

The best is cwm recovery. X-Part is fine also.
Do backup.
Then just copy fat32 partition on PC.
Now format sd card. (in usb sd card reader)
Repartition it again.
Put data back on fat32 partition. (return card into phone)
Now boot your phone into recovery.
Restore sd-ext.
That's it.
Please, note that sd cards must be formatted with sd card formatter from sd card association and NOT from operating system.
Then use gparted bootable disc to add ext2 partition.
Make sure MiB alignment is on.
Now, performance will be ok.
For sure add higher value in sd booster then default is.

Thank you, vr5411, for such detailed stsp-by step procedure. Just to be sure I will do a backup (TB) of the ext2 partition aps.. Just "in case".

well, I did re-format and tweaked with SD-tool and its a bit better now: my write speed is still low (about 6-7 MB/s), but write speed significantly improved; its now almost 30 MB/s (28-29 on average).

Using Link2SD with Directory Bind.

Hi,
I have a couple of questions.
Question 1:
So, to increase the available memory on my C1904, I installed Link2SD, works beautifully, but the app(which we have to move to the card) must be in the phone memory first, which is my problem, my phone just has 600MB left! I installed 'Directory Bind' for that, it basically links the app's data folder (phone memory/Android/data/app.something.something) to the SD Card in a way that the phone is tricked into "thinking" that the folder we create on the SD card(SD Card/Android/data/app.something.something) is a part of the internal memory, I. E. It binds the two.
But, directory bind has this problem where you have to select the "bind" option whenever you want to use that app data from the SD Card.
So, how about we use DB(Directory Bind) to download big files into the main partition of the SD card and then use Link2SD on it(while still bound), which will take the files to the ext2 partition on the SD Card(used by Link2SD), well, most of them. Then, the leftovers (very small in size) can be moved to the phone memory.
The benefit will be that we won't have to bind it again and again and won't have to worry about USB Connection with a computer as the ext2 partition is never disconnected!
What do you guys think? Will it work ?
Question 2:
I am going to put the game/app files in the SD Card, that means I'll need a fast SD as well.
What class will be the best to buy? 10 OR 6? OR will class 4 do good enough?
TY.

Woops... I'm sorry for posting in the wrong section, will keep that in mind from now on.
I did use the swap sd script, but it still used to save the data in the internal memory even though it recognized the card as the internal memory!
Are faster cards than class 10 even available!? According to a few articles 4 or more than 4 will do just fine. True?

UHS Speed Class 1 (U1) 10 MB/s Real-time broadcasts and large HD video files (UHS bus)
UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) 30 MB/s 4K video files (UHS bus)
uhs1,uhs3 are also class 10 but with more speed

You need root access to write to the sd card or use the stock file manager.
If your 64gb card has write access then I guess you already have root. So must be the card. My Samsung evo 128gb works fine.
I have an Samsung 128gb working on my T800 10.5" with no problems.
Do a full format with the app below on your notebook then format it in your T705
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
John.
I had a SanDisk Ultra 128GB card that was behaving similarly. I too used the sdcard.org formatter, thinking that would be the fix.
It wasn't.
I found a tool called "h2testw" online, and tested the card. It failed in a big way.
Arranged an RMA with SanDisk and they replaced it within a couple of weeks. New card not only passed the h2testw tests, but now works perfectly as well.
Between cameras, cell-phones, portable-audio devices, etc., I must have 30+ SanDisk (the only brand I buy) cards, and not one had ever given me a problem until that one.
So, while rare, it happens. It would be worth the time to test it for read/write errors to at least eliminate that as a possibility.

Setting up a new SD card as internal storage on lineageOS

Hello everyone
I am trying to set up a new sd card as a new storage, but it seems it is not working .
When I select internal storage it reaches 40% then the phone restarts by it self. After that, once I enter into storage settings i find the following results in the attached screenshot. I do not know why it becomes corrupted. Is it possible to have the Adoptable Storage feature ??
Sometimes it tells me sd appears to be slow as shown in the second screenshot.
I tried to use root essentials, but it did not work
Currently I am running LineageOS 13 (6.0.1).

After you buy a microSD card, it's a MUST to always check it with H2testw, for example, incluiding the write test.
I've had bad experiences with cards bought as original, with original packages and everything seems to be legit, but when I inserted them into the phone the result was the same as yours. One thing I've seen is that the original "good" card is displayed in the phone as "Sandisk SD Card", while the "fake" card is displayed as "SD Card" (without brand). This gives me another clue that your card is a fake one (as seen in your screenshoot).

I think I bought an original one from a famous hyper market in my city. Anyway, attached a photo of it. It is actually SanDisk . You added an important note which is the test. I will check this link and reply later with the results . Thanks for your valuable comment
After some research, I found out that my SD card is class C10. which is not suitable for recording HD or Full HD videos. I am thinking of moving to class U3 which is much faster and better.
I tried to use H2testW , but it did not work. I got the following error:
"" Error writing file 'E:\1.h2w', offset 0x0.
(The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. Code 1117) ""
