Anyone using Sygic Mobile Maps 9.0 on Galaxy S?? - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

I'm using Sygic Mobile Maps 9.0 on my Galaxy S. All the functions are working fine except the voice prompts during navigation. All voice settings are enabled but the problem continues. I've even tried re-installing it twice. I've used Sygic on my Nokia N97 earlier without any problem.

i'm using CoPilot 8 http://alk.eu.com/copilot/android/
but also testing
AndNav2 http://www.andnav.org/index.php/en/download
MapDroyd http://www.mapdroyd.com/
NDrive http://www.ndriveweb.com/products/product/96/
some are free some are paid take your pick

I'm using Sygic MM10 and don't have any problems.

I have one little problem with sygic. If I disable the autozoom feature I can't zoom in/out in the map. With my previous htc magic I would do it with the trackball but with the SGS I can't find any way.

if u sure that u open the sound icon on menu already pls check in yr head set bluetooth

MM9 doesnt work on devices from elcair upwards.
If you paid for MM9 you should be able to get a free copy of version 10, just visit their website

GPS?

Hi Guys,
Was wondering - which is a good free GPS app to use for the Desire? I want to use the built in GPS chip - not the google maps over the network thing?
Thanks.
I'm loving google navigation at the moment. Not any good for you?

I can understand why someone in Europe doesn't want to use Google nav when he/she is abroad: the roaming costs will kill you !
I am not in Europe. I am in South Africa.
Does Google Navigation work in SA ?

I second that!
I don't know if it exists: free offline navigation. You'll always have to buy the maps to store on your SD card.
There are apps like MapDroyd that can download maps to your SD card beforehand. However, I don't think the navigation is as good as Tomtom or Garmin software.
Okay thanks guys. I think I will just buy the Copilot App, actually.
Waze perhaps, user generated content that grows everyday the more people use it.
Hi there.
This is my first post
I'm also in south Africa. Let's just say that the mobile data charges are insane here.
I tested Google navigator. It definitely works. It just chows data.
Are there any voice aided navigators around besides copilot?

Guys, I am also in South Africa and know your pain.
I ran Garmin XT on my other HTC's and it worked 100%.
I ordered the Desire yesterday and should have it next week.
So as soon as I get it, I will be doing alot of testing and playing.
Hopefully we can find something that works here by us.
Ok, well I tried a few options and so far Ndrive seems to work pretty well.
The maps, accuracy and voice are very decent in my opinion.
Only 1 issue I seem to have is if I go off the route it tells me to go on, it crashes.

Navigon 2.6.1

Have anyone got this working on the SGS?
I´ve got it installed, but cant get it to navigate me since it say it cant lock on enugh satelites to guide me.
But google maps can find me ofc within 50m
hy ... where can i download this app NAVIGON ... because i didnt find ..thx
i hope you are not using it indoor...
it needs to lock to at least 4 satellite before it can work properly
I have another question regardin Navigon 2.6.1.
I am unable to use it for multi-countries routes. The program says: Unable to caltulate the route (error 472). However, it works perfectly for one-country routes.

That's a well known problem, which for what I know is due to the fact that you're using a non-legal version. It it said that the original, legal version (which you actually pay for) doesn't have this problem. I guess that if you have had a legal version, you would be asking Navigon about this problem.
So do the math. Buy the legal version or keep using the non-legal version, which doesn't work properly.
on my galaxy S Navigon 2.6.1 works perfectly.
just installed it the normal way!
Ok sometimes the position could be more exactly, but thats a problem of my galaxy s I think.
works, just needs some time to start
tried walking around where i live, and it finaly picked up my position. so it works after all
Does Navigon purely use GPS, or does it require internet access?
I am asking because I would not want charges in foreign countries.
No Navigon dont need any internet...
works with your preinstalled maps

Thanks, much appreciated.
thats the reason i got it needed a gps tracker that dont need internet
OMG, i installed the Navigon App from market just to test it and see if it is better than the NDrive. After downloading almost 2GB of Mapdata it had not my Street on the map!!!
Ok i live outside of a city in Portugal, but sorry, this is just redicilous. Even 15 years old paper maps have this...
Then i wanted to try out the navigation function but it didn´t work. It found my position and changed it on the map while moving but when trying to set a destination it complained every time "Simulation cannot be startet" Simulation? WTH?? Even tried restarting the phone, but app won´t make a navigation...
Anyone else with this problem?
Edit: Now i compared the Map size on SD Card of Navigon from Portugal with the one from Ndrive. Maybe this doesn´t mean so much, but the Map of Navigon has about 50 MB and the one from Ndrive 200 MB. This could explain why my street isn´t available on Navigon XD

[Q] Are GPS and videorecording compatible ?

I found the strangle problem with my new HTC Desire HD: GPS lost satellites in the case of camera in the video recording mode.
First concern arose when using the device as a DVR: VideoReg, DailyRoads Voyager, AutoGuard. In all cases I have gps data loss.
As an experiment I ran the program gpstest and the original camera software - GPS have problems with the satellites when camera is recording video
What could it be ???
Factory firmware with OTA upgrade.
The GPS is only active when an app which uses the GPS is active. So if you switch to an app today does not use GPS, the function is turned off.

I understand it of course
DVR's are using GPS and camera by self, in the tests I used gps application in the background (navitel navigator and GPS status).
Oh I see. I don't know what's wronng. Never used any of the apps you mentionned above.
I am the developer of DailyRoads Voyager. There is quite a large number of users who run Voyager concurrently with navigation apps, without having problems with the GPS fix. But, not on the Desire HD
I have made some extensive changes in the code which handles GPS. Would any of you like to test this new version?
Thanks,
Robert
i would test if you send it to me?
just found it in the market and downloading it.
The version on the Android Market most likely has the same issues described above. The new version for test can be downloaded from here:http://dailyroads.com/voyager/test/4/dailyroads.apk
Please test for at least 2 minutes, because listening for GPS will be restarted after 30 seconds, and then again after 1 minute.
This version also creates a log file (DailyRoadsLog.txt) in the root folder of the
SD card. When you're done with the tests, please send this file to [email protected]
Thanks,
Robert
Did anybody resolve the issue? I have the same problem with my Inspire 4G. When the camera is active the GPS wont't fix. Once the camera is off the fix occurs immediately
hi, same problem (still) here. no programm works when it combines camera/GPS.
just installed DailyRoads Voyager and will try 'n' see if I can do the tests and send the doc. maybe it'll help.
PS contacted HTC a while ago, simple reaction "your GPS is working as wel las your camera. you don't have a problem then...." welll, discussing here is more than limited, even when sying tt both together don't work...
Hi, found via Robert (daily road travel ) found via russian forums the following : add an external b/t gps receiver, download a small app from the market which links the receiver to the phone and done !
Ok, it's a workaround but a working one !
Cheers

Has anyone found a better resolution??

Try IGO 8.3/8.4 for android.
IGO.
Note - version for Android has not so good user interface like on Windows Mobile. But the navigation in core and files are the same.
Co Pilot live .
jje
Sygic Aura for me
I probably wouldnt bother using this phone as a GPS unless absolutely emergency. Takes a good 20 minutes to lock onto satillite and even if it does lock on, signal drops occasionally... unless u fix the gps problem yourself.

Well.. mine locks way faster due to a-gps and pre-loaded almanacs and is very stable. Depends on the modem, but as always your mileage my vary
I have Prestigio 450BT PNA, Dell Axim x51v with bluetooth gps and with CF gps, both Sirf Star 3, HTC Polaris and of course SGS. ( I know, I am a little GPS freak)
I have tested all of them and I would rate SGS in 1st place together with Sirf Star 3 GPSes
As a software I prefer iGO8.3 (not the Amigo that can be found on our SGS). For SGS I prefer NDrive and Co Pilot Live. The later seems more native to Android, has pin to zoom, etc. Fortunately my speed cam database source does not provide data in Co-Pilot Live format
I got Copilot. It completly **** !!! Never got the right position. Take Navigon, its the Best !

Iam from Canada and navigon used to have my home address and copilot doesn't. What's the latest map for copilot?

Use of offline Google Navigation possible?

Hey guys,
I was wondering if it's possible to download the Maps from Google for some countries to use the Google Navigation without the need of a data connection. I'm driving down to Italy from Germany in a couple of weeks and would love to use Google Navigation but I don't want to pay for data roaming in Germany, Austria and Italy.
Alternatively I also have Navigon on my phone, but it seems like Navigon isn't compatible to HTC Car which I'd like to use as I am going to listen to music through my phone as well. Also tried https://play.google.com/store/apps/...CwidHcua2Vuc2hpbm4uaHRjY2FsZW5kYXJmaWx0ZXIiXQ..

You can hit the sub-menu menu (3 dot) button in google maps open and select "Make available offline". Then you simply drag the rectangle over the area you want to cache, click done and it will download what you have selected.
Not sure if there is a size limit to what you can cache, but I believe in the settings you can specify some cache options.
I tried that, but it can only cache the size of London which is like 60 MB, if I try to select a whole country it always says "Selected area too large. Please zoom in."
I remember from my old Windows Mobile phone about 4 years ago, that it was possible to download all the maps I wanted, even whole countries.
Try Sygic. Offline navigation tool, 7 day free use.

You can save a country, but it will be saved in sections limited to a size similar to the one you mentioned.

You can cache maps for offline viewing, but unfortunately Google navigation still appears to require a data connection to work. I've tried many times to navigate in airplane mode, but doesn't work. A quick Google search revealed that many others are experiencing the same issue .
I think there would be some potential risk by using google maps offline.

No.
I don't know why Google just doesn't give us proper offline navigation already. Its probably to protect the other developers. After trying all the others I think it's still the nicest nav software in form and function. When you enter a destination it does seem to cache the route but if you deviate or exit the program you are screwed. Not sure if they improved that in the latest versions though.
Sent from my GT-I9000 running CM9
Unless they charge the existing sat nav companies will be a bit pissed if Google did that...
Alright, so Google Navigation won't work for me then.
Any ideas on how to get Navigon integrated into the Car Mode?
On venom rom u can can choose whci nav prog to us with htc car. May b there is a tweak or addon available that will let u do the sme
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
thanks
Just type "+" in car mode and add the Navigon application...
