Does anyone know if it would be possible to make an app that could use the Incredible camera as a light meter and maybe a color sensor. I am interested in using it with the hcfr colormeter software if possible?
Thanks

I think that's a good discussion of the iphone app. So yes in theory but I would seriously doubt it would be very accurate. At the very least because of lighting and white balance issues.

The current autofocus/manual focus for camera shots are abysmal. My old TP2 was doing autofocus much better (it would focus very well immediately).
On the evo, I have to touch the screen multiple times to force focus, until I'm satisfied with the result. There should be a better way to do autofocus that actually gives a sharper image.
It's as if focusing is rushed with the current software, and the end result is not so good.
Thanks.
Mine will usually focus just fine, but sometimes it will keep trying to focus and never lock
If you are going to fix auto focus, please fix the LED lighting. Seems in a dark room that the flash tends to be way to bright and wash out the picuture.
How about instead of an "improved" auto-focus, we just get some kinda slider adjustment for manual focus? Personally, I'd much rather see that.

i second this
oh and to the guy that was talking about the led flash, if you know your going to be using the led flash set the brightness in the camera app all the way down, it helps a lot
The manual focus slider is probably not gunna happen. We looked at it on the Nexus and it didn't look good.
I do agree though, tap-to-focus isn't near as good on the Evo as it is on the Nexus Desire ROMs. The Nexus autofocus is actually much better in general.
It's a shame that the camera on this phone had some corners cut so it would look better on paper. I'd much rather have a 5mp camera with better auto focus. And the video compression is terrible.

whoops wrong thread
Turning the brightness down does help, but would be better if the camera did some time of light metering prior to taking the picture and use the low led setting if needed, instead of lighting up the room. Using an elephant gun when a bb gun is needed approach is hard to deal with.
Is there any way to correct the colours on the Defy display ? They look a little washed out, a little vibrance wouldn't do any harm. A screen calibration tool would be good, but I don't think that there is one compatible with Defy.
Maybe something could be done on kernel side ?
Any ideas ?
P.S: I'm coming from a Omnia7 that had SuperAMOLED, the colours were very vibrant.
Check this out. Defy has the same screen, and, actually it is very good color wise, almost perfect color reproduction.

I think most other manufacturers overdo colors in general, especially Samsung. I really don't like thei screens, too much color.
And to answer your question, no I don't think you can calibrate these screens so easily.
Would adjusting the brightness setting do the trick? Especially if you're in auto and there is something blocking the sensor.

Does anyone know if there are any working ways to adjust color temperature? I think most methods require a modified surfaceflinger library. My screen is sickeningly bluish green.
Thanks.

Sounds like a bad screen. I'd take it back. Mine is very balanced. Super saturated but very balanced.

I agree, my first one had a bad screen and a dead pixel right in the center, the screen quality on my new one is better all around and I wasn't even expecting there to be an improvement
Thanks for the suggestions, but the other ones I've seen don't look any better in terms of their greenish-blue color cast. I've read it's typical of AMOLED displays. I just want a way to adjust white balance like CM has.
...and I've discovered the answer. Chainfire3D's Pro version has support for Custom color "nightvision mode". Basically, exactly what I wanted. It works perfectly! Do yourself a favor and get this and drop your green and blue levels down a tiny bit.
You just saved me a two hour drive to get a new phone. Great find.
Hello,
I know its normal for the proximity sensor to display a red light while using direct call or on a call. But I find my proximity sensor noticeable brighter then my sisters phone. Comparing the two, you can barley see any light coming form her sensor, unless your in a darkroom. I can see mine clearing in a well lit room. The Sensor works... I just don't know why mine is brighter then hers.
If anyone can provide me with an answer I would greatly appreciated it.
Also I don't know if this would matter but mine is the pebble blue and my sister has the marble white.
Thanks.
Anyone?
Your phone is possessed....take a hammer to it or send it to me
Seriously...I see the same thing with some of the guys at work...no biggie. As long as it works...no need to worry.

It's more of a curiosity. It doesn't make sense why mine would be brighter. Don't know if it's a defect or not. Want to make sure before my 14 day exchange period is up.

Are you in a dim environment? Or are you in a bright room?

If you are taking a picture with low light, candle light or very little ambient light then the picture may come out underexposed (dark) and grainy (noise due to low light). Both problems are associated with low light. Even expensive DSLRs are susceptible to noise in low light however the small camera sensor found in the Note 2 makes it even more apparent.

I have the same issue but when I use any third party camera apps I,m getting less "grain" compared to the stock camera app. Any idea whats wrong? Is it a software issue or do I have to get it replaced?
It seems people started to noticed camera issue. I hope other people could shed some light .

I'm getting excessive graininess too, definitely more noticeable than the original note, could this be fixed by a software update? Or is it game over due to the hardware?
I don't know if the camera is dark but the led Flash sure is. It's not as strong as my previous S2. This indeed is bothering me.

Noticed this earlier. The live shot on the screen was perfect but the captured image was darker.
Any way to just capture as is? I.e. what you see is what you get?

Are you sure it's not because the screen goes to full brightness in camera? It does when you have auto-brightness on, anyway.

Ah, could well be that. Cheers!
well my brightness is always full and still this issue exists, can anyone else shed any light on this?
Its a known issue with international note 2 version. From what i know. its a hardware issue!
Low light pictures are definitely grainy without flash. But aside from this, I can't really say the pictures from my Note II are dark.
Try switching your Metering mode to Matrix?

IMO its a software issue i've been trying out a lot of third party camera apps and the noise(grainy-ness) is a lot different from the stock camera app. It would be really helpful if some developer looks into this.

Could you link us to where you found this out?
Agree, i like the camera on note 1 much more than note 2, to me note 2 beats note 1 in all areas except in camera.

so this problem is confirmed??
I was going through the review on gsmarena, they have mentioned the camera to be better than the note 1 and really close to the S3 can someone confirm that the graininess is common on all note 2s or only the ones who have already discussed it here ??
