Has anyone been able to change their splash screen on cm6 using the command listed: fastboot flash splash1 <name>.rgb565
If not, how can we swap the splash screen in cm6?

HIya
I few months ago i updated my splash using the guide on here called " Custom splash image"
But now i wish to sell my phone i've reflashed the rom back to T-Mobile Stock
and while splash1 has restored back to stock splash2 hasn't
Does anybody have a copy of the original splash1/2 from the stock phone?
or know a way to extract splash1
Regards

Actually, the original T-mobile G1 only had splash1, it didn't have splash2, so you'll need to wipe/erase splash2...
Code:
fastboot erase splash2
fastboot reboot
If that doesn't work, try:
Code:
fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img
fastboot flash splash2 splash1.img
fastboot reboot

thanx, needed this
Hello! I rooted my Week old EVO that came with 2.10.0001 HBOOT and last night following the instructions on this thread and everything worked perfect, but Im having trouble changing the boot splash image and boot animation.
First, I tried using this method:
- Move the splash screen file (.rgb565) to sdk/tools folder
- Power off device
- Boot up into boot loader (hold volume down key while pressing power)
- Navigate to "FASTBOOT" with the volume keys and press the power button
- Plug device in (you'll see "FASTBOOT USB" highlighted in red)
- Open a command window in Windows (Windows key + r then type "cmd.exe")
- Prompt to sdk/tools
- Now type this into adb window to install splash screen:
Code:
fastboot flash splash1 evosplash1.rgb565
Click to collapse
But it gives me this error:
sending 'splash1' (750 KB)... OKAY
writing 'splash1'... FAILED (remote: not allowed)
Click to collapse
And then tried this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9633485&postcount=6
But after the bootloader reads the PC36IMG.zip file it just goes back to the menu and does not give me the option to flash it.
Is it even possible to change the splash image with HBOOT 2.10??
And then my other issue is changing the boot animation. This is the one I want to use and used the procedure explained in the thread. It seems to go through fine but the default animation from the rom Im using keeps showing up. Is the file structure different on the new OTA or something (Im using VirusROM REVOlution Z RC1 PORT 1.34) ? Ive changed this on my old EVO with no problems.
Thanks for any help!
Hi everyone. I've searched for an answer to my problem, but haven't found anyone with exactly the same issues I've been having loading a custom splash screen onto my phone. I'm currently running the Revolution 4G ROM. I've tried the "flasher" program, I've used the appropriate adb commands, and I've even tried an alternative method of loading the splash1 image file into the data folder of the flasher program before using, all to no avail. Flasher says its working, but on reboot, the same old white HTC screen pops up. When I go the command prompt route, I get the following message: FAILED <remote not allowed>. I am 100% certain that I am rooted and S-off, I have full access to all of my programs requiring root and I'm getting the appropriate notifications re: S-off. So what does this mean, and what should I do?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Are you 101% certain that you have s-off? Cuz you can check it by powering down the phone ,then going into Hboot via holding Volume Down+Power ,and at the top it should say "s-off".
You might also try the method i used,go here > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823315
Read how to start the program etc...and flash the Splash image with it.(also check the Splash1.img that it's in the correct form,if you custom made it,it has to be a 24bit bmp file, that's later converted to *.img via "Nbimg" - at least ,that's how i did it)
Before you connect your phone make sure u have USB debbuging enabled.
I used Hashcode's method to install a second bootloader and to install recovery and CM10.1. After I flashed CM10.1 like normal, I didn't like it, as the screen resolution was way out of whack. So, I restore using fastboot the stock .img backups that I created prior to rooting.
Well, now my Kindle gets stuck on the Kindle splash screen, and no matter what I do to flash stock back onto it, every time it reboots, it has the same problem. I have tried the KFHD restore tool (none of the commands work), KFFirstAide (the same problem as KFHD restore), I even tried doing the rooting process again, with the same results. I cannot get this cursed device to boot into stock OS, and I have burned out on trying to fix it. I've had this thing for one day.... :crying:

Which splash to you become stuck at? White and orange logo or white and blue? If you get stuck at the white and orange it is a stack installation failure. If you get stuck at the white and blue logo the system is likely broken. Can you access recovery? Get it into fastboot and try
Code:
fastboot -i 0x1949 erase cache
Code:
fastboot -i 0x1949 erase userdata
at the userdata part it could hang just let it sit for ten minutes or so. Then
Code:
fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot
side note this will wipe your sdcard so all backups and rom files will be gone. So best you transfer all you wish to keep to your pc.

With a lot of persistence, I finally restored it. I had to use KFFA. It was ver likely that it was a stack failure, as when I was using Hashcode's method to root, I never pushed a new stack (because adb wasn't working).
But all is good now, I fixed it! :victory:
After the fact
I suppose it's not much a help now but using fastboot has helped me a lot with my kindle. I've locked it up several times to the point I thought it was broken. Usually it seems if you can turn it on and you see anything, you still can fix it.

Were you the one to compress the splash screen logos down to our resolution because mine fitted perfectly. I used the apple logo just to get some straight up weird looks at T-mobile Thanks alot +1
