Install this today on my rooted HTC Desire, running the official froyo sense rom.
Found after installing it didn't work, came up with error so clicked revert just in case, phone then restarted.
Uninstalled the app but have noticed all of my apps that are meant to have ads have none.
Does this mean it worked or does the official froyo sense rom come with a modified hosts files to stop ads anyway?
I have compared the hosts file on my phone with the one from the rom zip file and both are exactly the same.
Is there anyway to get the ads back without flashing the phone again?
Thanks.

I just installed my first ROM on my evo. Its Fresh Evo 1.0.1 by flipz frimware verison 2.1-update1.
To install it I used the OTA simpleRoot.
Anyways then I also installed gapps-hdpi-frf91-2-signed.zip
The problem is that whenever I try to add my google account it always ends up with a force close
Also my marketplace or vending.apk is missing.
So what should I do now?
Hello,
I want to update my phone to the latest 3.29.651.5.
Im using the OTA downloaded file to do this when i boot into recovery and try
to update the phone it says failed and points to missing Flickr.odex.
I tried really hard looking for that file on the web and on forums but not sure what
to do anymore.
Anyone have any insight.
My phone is rooted and i believe i might have removed it and i thought i did a backup before
removing default sprint/htc apps but i guess not.
What's going on with the market? I literally downloaded ClockworkMod about 15 minutes ago and tried flashing something, the file wasn't there so I didn't end up flashing, turned the phone back on and the market just will NOT download. Has it gone down?
Also just quickly, if I flash RUU 1.32 or whatever it's called, will I lose root?

You will lose root, yes
And market is working fine for me
Obivously something I've done along the way, http://zantekk.de/~desire_hd/offici....140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed.exe this is the latest version we have root for, correct?
I just installed Android RevolutionHD 2.0.15 (and after a reboot 2.0.16) for the first time and trying to get my apps on the phone through the market and it seems that i have the same problem:
If i want to download any app with any connection it tries to start and soon it sais "unable to download... plz try later blabla"
Was wondering if the problem was related to the Custom Mod AR HD because someone in the mods thread had the same problem. But when you're saying you're on stock rom i think something is going on here^^
[e] Now its working again. Seems it was related with the store and not the rom.
I did correct permissions through Rom Manager (installed with apk) though im not sure if it is related to the market now working again.

Issue is this:
To install the ROM, you will need the ClockWorkmod ROM Manager.
Start Android Market on your phone and search for ROM Manager. Install the Clockwork Mod ROM Manager. Note that your Defy must be rooted before you can install ROMs on it.

Being as I deleted google apps I can't use the market. So I managed to find a googleapps1.3 apk file on the net, reinstalled it but it just crashes and requires force close whenever it starts, have been told it is a permissions issue so I tried fixing permissions via ROM manager but I get this error:
"An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!"
Now ultimately I want 2.2 froyo anyway, but what is the best way to get the correct Clockwork Mod ROM Manager APK for a motorola defy? I've looked everywhere but cannot find it.
ROM manager has an option to download it, but it only gives options for Droid x, droid 2 and some other non defy phone.
So how do I get myself out of this pickle and install froyo 2.2 or at least get google apps 1.3 working again?
Really appreciate any help, thanks guys
had to make a new account as my password wont work and neither will password recovery
anyway I tried using the defy recovery but it says the update.zip file is invalid and doesn't pass the certificate test or some random thing
how am to get google apps working again? all I want is my stock rom working, or if I can get a 2.2 version that is exactly the same that'd be great.
Can anyone help me? I have the googleapps.apk file but it just crashes if I reinstall it.
If you just want to get back to stock...
1. Send it in for repair.
2. Find a relevant SBF file and flash via RSD Lite. What does Settings -> About phone tells you?
system version blur_version.2.51.1.mb25.retail.en.GB
JRDNEM_U3_2.5.1.1
where would I look to find the SBF file?
managed to find a stock rom and reflash it, all is good now
thanks guys
It seems like ever since the market updated to google play i can't download any new apps on my phone (the force close and disappear as soon as i open them). Also, when i try to update existing apps they also force close and disappear but they end up coming back if i restart my phone. Also applications that i've had on my phone that i don't use any more I can't get rid of. I delete them and they come right back as well.
I've tried to restore my phone in tons of diffrent ways, regular factory reset, ruu, thought hboot, and htc sync. Factory reset and hboot just give me a red exclamation that i can't get around, the ruu someone told me to use didn't work i believe because the version of android i'm running and htc sync always tells me my phone isn't connected when clearly it is because i can open it up and explore it on my computer.
I'm at a loss, anyone have any ideas?
Time for a new phone?
Maybe consider rooting? I actually haven't seen a dinc with GB 2.3.4 that upgraded to google play, for some reason I've seen it stay with the market. My phone hasn't been in stock for a long time so I couldn't really say if that were true now but I know that google play was first released back in March and mid-april when I first rooted my Dinc, it was still on the android market. That being said, the dinc is far from trash if you are willing to root and flash a custom ROM to it.
I've seen this problem on ROMs when the version of gapps wasn't compatible with the ROM anymore because either the ROM was updated or gapps was updated and compatibility was lost. Usually in that situation I would recommend that person to do a fresh flash of their ROM with the newest google apps but in your case I would suggest flashing a custom ROM for the first time. if that is not an option you want to explore at this time, I believe that if you place this PB31IMG.zip on the root of your SD card (which must be formatted to FAT32) and then get into hboot it will reflash gb for you which might do the trick.

my DINC upgraded to google play when it was on stock. But really, stock sucks and has bugs. Upgrade to a real firmware listed here
