Just wanna gauge the interest of me doing a ROM for the Incredible. The mods list would be just about the same as my EVO ROM, so they would perform about the same.
Link to my EVO ROM so you can see what it looks like

Calkulin. Good to see you here. I used a lot of your project on my Touch Pro. Good job on that and I am sure you are doing a good job on the Android. I know everyone will appreciate your work. I took a look at what you have and like, but I prefer a stock look. I will keep an eye on your work. You never know.
I think that there's always interest in something different, even if only slightly. I'm guessing that the only solid way to find out would be go invest the time in putting one together and seeing what kind of response you get. I'm sure that everyone would agree that having a dev with experience add to our choices would certainly be a more satisfying experience than having a herd of novices (keeping in mind that in all things we were all once novices). The people love choice.
That is a nice clean ROM. I would def try it out.
i would be stocked ...loved all your roms/kitchens for the last few years at ppcgeeks...bring it !!!
im sure once they try it they will love it...i heard mightymike's gone android too...crazy all we need is nrg and its like old times
Im game dude, loved your windows roms
I would definitely be interested... used some of your creations when i had a TP2... ahhh i miss the days of ppcgeeks...
Absolutely! The more the better!
Looks a very polished rom. I'd sport it!
More choice is never a bad thing. I wouldnt use it personally as there are apps installed I would never use but I am sure others would like and use it.
Used to use your TP Rom on PPC Geeks! Would definitely like to see one for the Dinc!!!
I'd use it

Yes, please!
Well, already started working on the ROM, so hopefully I'll have a beta out this week
If you need a tester, feel free to contact me.
Im Down
Looks really clean...I'll give it a shot. A friend said you do some great work. I placed a post over at www.incredibleforum.com as well. Need some testers let me know
Calkulin, will this have the usual bloatware removed?
Need some beta testers, PM me if your available now
Now, I'm an android noob. I have noticed that there are several different [ROMS] for the G2, but I am not sure which one works the best, or is the best. I have tried reading what they have, but I get lost in the technical mumbo jumbo like streamlined or deoxied or whatever, and kitchen and prebaked...
Can you guys give your opinions on which [ROM] you guys use / think is the best, and why?
You should stick with stock.
Try them all and see what fits you best, each rom has perks over other roms.
Really the first step is rooting then backing up your stock rom and finally flashing different roms to see what you like. Id start with a sense rom so you can see the differences in layout and features.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Its all a matter of peronal preferance. I personally like the sense roms but I also like cyanogen's ROMs. Sense is a memory hog but its got cool features while stock and cyanogen roms are fast and stable. So there really isn't any "best" rom per say...but go root ur phone and try em all till you find one u like.

Next let's start a thread that says [Q][Help] What should my favorite food be?
Really, it's all a matter of preference. Is there any specific feature about having root that you want over stock? Perhaps you want to avoid the tethering charge or to theme it up some. If that's all you really want to do, stick with a stock, rooted, deodexed rom. If you love having lots of options and new settings and to have better performance, try cyanogenmod. Does stock android not satisfy you? Maybe you want a sense rom. Or maybe you want a sense-based expresso rom. The only person that can decide what is best is you, the user. What you need your phone to do is different than anyone else. Oh, and welcome to XDA, the place where dreams are possible, boundaries are broken, and questions end up in the development forum.
Yeah personally I'm a fan of Cyanogen but you can try any of them out. But just so you're aware, there will be many many more ROMs soon enough, we haven't even had perm root for a month yet
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
If you are new to the whole scene, you should just sit back and wait right now, and be paitient. Every non-stock ROM out there right now has lots of issues.
We will have more stable versions of the Desire Sense ROMs and of course the CM stable ROM soon.
It's fun to experiment, though. Just perm-root, do a NANDroid backup, and flash away. You can always revert back to stock.
The most functional and stable setup I've tried so far is Stock with OTA, perm-root, and bacon bits. I'm also overclocked at 1.497GHz with no issues. Everything just works, and is lightning fast.
I'm also new to the android world and am curious as well. I get lost when reading and trying to understand exactly what's being talked about. Me, I'm looking for having great battery life and remove some of these stock apps that I'll never use and I dont like looking at. Is a ROM basically a copy of another phones UI?
That's what i'm wondering about too.
I believe they should make a thread with all the roms.
I want a rom with HTC sense that is based on Android 2.2 (froyo?)
If you want a fast rom that's stock but doesn't have all the bs bloatware.. then root your g2, over clock to ~1ghz and get root explorer and you can go into system/apps (I think) and delete the apks you don't use.. which is what I do. Therefore your on stock froyo, quicker and less bloatware.. if you want a stock froyo sense rom then try our modacos rom.. it has a kitchen (basically you can use this to pick what apps you want installed in the rom and which you dont) I haven't tried the virtous rom yet.. but I don't doubt its great.. like someone already said.. if your new you should wait till more roms come out. Focus on learning about perm root(theres a video out there) and how to do the basics like overclocking(there's a video somewhere too)... then move from there when we have more developed roms. Even thou cyanogen is very stable and runs well.

Here's some advice dog, hopefully from reading my story you will have a better grasp of what's the best way to tackle your new android phone.
I started with the g1 sometime back in 08 which stayed stock until I decided to dunk it in the local river on a date (bad one at that), didn't even know you could modify those phones at that time. Picked up a cliq xt and discovered about what root meant (even thought I didn't REALLY understand). After rooting the phone via adb (very scary as I had no experience) and flashing a rom (lucky I didn't brick the ****) I decided I needed to read more..not just about the xt but about other phones and android period. At that point in time all I had was Modmymobile.com which was scarce as far as knowledge goes due to small developer base (can't blame them). After sucking up all I could I started cruising forums dealing with other phones and decided to get a captivate. The captivate was cool, but was still very new. After bricking two captivates (due to ****ty hardware lock) and tired of dealing with bad att coverage I came back to tmobile and picked up the vibrant. I'll tell you this I had FUN with the vibrant in spite of not having froyo, the vibrant guys have a strong deveolper base and Eugene is a very bright developer along with the guys at Team Whiskey. Sadly, TouchWhiz and no hardware keyboard pushed me to talk to tmobile about the g2 in which they offered me one via straight exchange. The root hassle ensued and I read more and more. Here I am today!
Basically, I read. Like..alot. And when I didn't feel like reading anymore, I would find a new android topic to read on. This didn't come without consequence though, as stated I bricked two captivates ( actually my fist vibrant along with a second g2). Don't be afraid to jump into adb, just be smart about it.
You'll also be surprised at what you learn from cruising the other phone forums too.
On that thought, a Bible thread like the SGS guys have would be sweet!

I just installed the Virtuous ROM and it works great. As for Oc'ing, I don't think I'll need all the processing power. Not like I'm encoding videos or anything. I don't wanna waste the batteries. I COULD underclock it...
EDIT:
What are the criteria for judging ROM? What make's one better than the other? If I have like 10 roms all featuring the HTC Sense... What makes 1 more superior than the other, other than subjective feel, ie: "It runs smoother", or, "It runs faster and is more stable."
Are there any definitive proof with numbers? Anything we can use to test ROM performance, akin to Quadrant testing phone performance?
you will get different quadrant scores on different ROMs, the only best ROM is the one you made, or whatever ROM you decide to use

Ok here's some info: OP you need to read this. Even if some of it is "technical mumbo jumbo" I'm sure you'll get the point: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=838484
Also do your flashing from recovery. Always backup before trying new things. And for best performance, wipe between roms...
all i could get form that is don't mess with hboot and install rom via recovery...
so does that mean as long as I use ROM manager I'm safe?
and I apologize

Hello beloved ROM Developers ,
I have actually never created a Request thread on XDA, so this is a first. It's a simple request for a ROM port, however, being completely oblivious to ROM development, I am not sure how simple it would actually be to implement it. I have reached out to the original Dev of this ROM, but did not hear anything back, so I thought I'd try my luck here. I am basically an EVO convert, now on VZW, with a DInc. I have been trying various ROMs for the DInc, but for some reason I keep missing the ROM I had on my EVO.
So, here goes nothing. Can someone please be kind enough to try and port this ROM to DInc?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808656
I understand that there is a similar ROM for DInc, I believe it's called Carbon Fusion or something like that, but in my trial of it, it lacked stability, speed, and the depth of customization that this EVO ROM has in it.
It's a humble request guys, please don't flame me, thanks for reading !
Have you tried GB?

I'm sure you know this already, but just in case, I think Incredible Re-engineered by Chingy and Redemptive Revolution are EVO ROM's. There are also a few others, but cant recall them right now.
But if you want something with new features, and some cool widgets, I suggest you check out The Desire Z ROM's. I wont use anything but Z ROM's now. They are very smooth.

For the lag, try switching kernels, I was having a little lag also. cant remember what kernel I switched to, but it cleared up the problem.

synisterwolf, I like this ROM for it's perfect blend of looks, performance, stability, and content. I too would not be opposed to a theme, but I thought it might be easier to ask someone to just look at the ROM to see exactly what's in there, and if it could all be cooked into one single ROM for the DInc. Again, I hope someone can do it... I remember hearing that EVO and DInc frameworks and development is very similar. So I wonder if it's only a matter of replacing the base with the latest Verizon, instead of Sprint, and then taking everything that's in the EVO ROM, while changing things that might matter, like the keyboard or the camera app, perhaps?
I haven't tried the Z ROMs at all, but this is because everyone one of them have bugs listed out on the main page, with camera issues, and even lag, as you mentioned... Perhaps the Thunderbolt dump and other things might be able to assist with these gaps?
Thanks again for the interest here, guys. If you would also like to see this ROM ported, please be sure to mention it in this thread, I am sure some generous developer will take a look at it ?

If nothing pans out with getting this ported, try a Z rom. They appear to be very similar. Dont be scared off by the Issues they talk about. Dev's seem to do this for the Z, but they are very nice ROM's. The only issue that remains is basically the 720 recording, which I dont use. I have never experienced the 3G drops, and most dont.

alright here's the deal. I mashed this between chingy51o's incredibly re-engineered and xxbabboixx228's rom. I take absolutely no credit for the work and it is not identical to babiboi's rom.
Also you still see some remnants of chingy's rom in it that someone else if they want can clean up if they want to make a release from it.
I have not pm'd either of them to ask if I can make a release of it, as I do not intend to support it or make a public release thread etc. etc.
I will post it on dropbox and like I said, I'm not claiming any of the work or this rom, anyone can ask for permission from them to start a release thread for it and I only made this for the OP and my personal use.
edit: going another route, I'll report in a few. I really don't want to release anything, no matter what my intentions are, with parts from their rom without permission. Going to go for a direct port rather than mash together, don't really see the point in a frankenstien mess

I was not sure if you were open to taking requests to make changes to your ROM, based on User requests, so I didn't want to bother you. The EVO ROM was almost exactly how I wanted it, so it was just easy to explain, that is, just request a straight port.

UPDATE!! Ric is back on board and actively working on Azrael 4.0!!! THIS IS INDEED GREAT NEWS! I am going to leave this thread open just to continue showing my support for his work and would appreciate it greatly if every Azrael user continues to show support here in case he ever needs to be reminded again. Thanks to all that contributed in persuading him to continue developing this awesome Rom!
So Ricsim78 has recently posted in his thread for the Azrael Rom that due to too many complaints to his Rom that he may or may not end up hanging up the towel for good and ending the development of his Roms. Personally this saddens me. So i ask here.....Do you use any of the Azrael ROMS?? Did you use one and switched due to issues?? Should he continue to build his ROMS??? Read his original post .......

Some may have issues with his Rom but i have not experienced any of these issue nor have any of the other 15+ HTC EVO's that I have flashed his Rom to. Plenty have requested that he use a different base for his Rom. I disagree with this as well. His Rom is plenty fast and plenty stable and if you have problems with how he makes his stuff.....try something else or learn how to develop your self. Its that simple. There are PLENTY of other options to chose from. Ok so I flashed my Evo about a month ago and I tried a few different ROMs and I have been on Az's for the whole time. I love it and won't flash anyone else's ROMs now. Please don't go Az.
Ric should do what makes him happy. I did however vote for how much I like his work though and the selfish part of me wants him to keep making them. If he were to ask me, which he hasn't of course, I would say to always listen with an open mind, but not to ever worry or sweat about what the negative folks have to say and concentrate instead on enjoying the process of his work and the majority of us who enjoy it. Here's to you Ric, thanks for everything that you've done so far, I will appreciate it and you no matter what.
I personally don't use his ROMS but I do think losing a Dev from the community because of a few bad apples is poor form. It's too bad he feels this way and I think this thread is an awesome show of support!
I love his roms. I personally love the way sense looks and he keeps that look. Its snappy reliable and awesome on battery life. I hate animations and this rom has the best ones I've ever seen. I use the phone heavily and at 11pm it still has 40% on the stock battery. Everyone says there rom has great battery life and they don't but AZs Rom does. I would like him to continue his dev work but if he must go then that's that. And we should remember his awesome work.

I have been a supporter since the day I rooted my phone. I have had no issues at all and definitely hope he changes his mind. Excellent work and thanks for your passion.
It is my ROM of choice and now use it exclusively.
I love the X rom...
I think the trouble most people have is from the different kernels. I run his rom with the stock #15 kernel. It's the only one that flies on my Evo. Any other kernel sucks!
I use it, and its the only rom ive had NO problems with. Id be very disappointed to see the development of this rom stop.
Az I used 3 other roms before flashing yours, and yours is the one that I liked best. I tried a few of the other roms from the devs that I liked on my hero but I didn't like theirs as much as I love yours. So if you do decide to go please add me to your mailing list. I would be honored.
P.S. I check every day to see if you have posted an updated rom.

I have never used Azrael's ROM, but that's just because I've been stuck on a different ROM for a while now, and haven't strayed from it yet. It saddens me to hear of this, possibly losing a dev from the community. I love having so many options for different ROMs, and I find them all to be great, and have different tweaks and features that fit different scenarios. I have never heard anything bad about Azrael's ROM, just the oppositte actually, people praising it. I am not up to par on the type of comments people were saying about it, that prompted his (for free!!!) decision, but I find that terrible. People should show nothing but respect and support for the devs here, and the hard work that they put in. And as far as I know, it seems that most of the devs here work together, and trade info and what not. I hope that people step up and show him support so that his decision can be reversed.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and that is what the thread voting and rating system is intended for. BUT there is a very small handful of members here that need to learn to show some respect! Life isn't perfect and neither is each and every custom ROM. Those who down rate a ROM thread because they have some technical difficulties are morons!
I have yet to see a ROM thread where the dev does not ask the community to please report any issues you find. So how can anybody be so dumb and down rate just for spite?
Rick, I can totally understand how you must feel to put a ton of pride and effort into this nice custom ROM to have it all crushed by a few idiots who can't see past their own selfish moronic ego's. It's a shame these members can't somehow disappear and take their ungrateful selves far from this community and never come back! They will surely continue this childish behavior on other ROM threads. This community would be much much better off without this small handful of ungrateful [email protected][email protected]$!!! Please forgive my French...
Do what you think is best Rick, I totally understand. My advice is to sleep on it a few days and start over... there's always new things coming down the pipes and mabe one day you'll feel better about your much appreciated work. Don't let a couple of dumb punks distract you. We all know your work is at the very top of the list without a doubt. Those couple of spiteful members casting bad votes means nothing to this community. Believe me we ALL know you are the real deal when it comes to your work and awesome support!
Yes and i have never had a problem with his Roms. Hope he never leaves. Rick you rule!
a few words
I've been a longtime Lurker who does not post anything but I had to give this man some much needed appreciation. Hands down this Rom is the best that I have tried here. Its silky smooth while maintaining speed and awesome battery life. I really hope he decides to keep developing but I cant fault him for choosing not to. By the way I just donated to you ric. Hope this helps out the coffee fund.
The ONLY issue I had with his 3.0 rom was the tethering. Not the hotspot but the Android tethering. To this day Im not to sure what happened with it as it just quit on me one day. I didnt blame the rom itself if people read my posts, but I also know I sure as hell wouldnt vote someone down (whatever that is actually lol).
My little brother was talked into (by me), into using his 3.1 and he loves it,cept the android tethering is not working for him either. So other then the tethering issues (which im now leaning more towards rom issue, as im now running Mik and its working again flawlessly), his works been pretty awesome.
my gf just got this stupid little phone so now im in the process of getting it rooted and getting a rom out.
it will be some time as i dont have much free time.

I don't think it's that bad. Plus, it works on t-zones when unlocked

Thanks a lot for your time and your effort!
Awesome, feefeeboomboom/isaac. The flipside stinks on 2.1. There is no storage space. I really really want 2.2 or 2.3 to be able to store my apps on the SD card.
I hope it you are making progress and that you stay with your GF and that she lets you play with her phone.
Any Updates?
I'm willing to help
Never deved on an android phone before, but I'm a linux admin, and I love doing custom hacks on these things. If I can be of help, let me know. Trying to see how to get the ball rolling on setting up a CM6 version for this phone right now. I'm pretty sure with the limited hardware that this phone has, CM7 would be a huge overkill -- if it would run at all.

Well, you caught me. I actually think it would run fine, but it is much easier to use the same kernel and just mod everything else. You can run 2.2 on 2.1 kernels, but you can't run 2.3 on 2.1 or 2.2. So, with that said, it's much easier for me to just take a current image, strip out the bloat, and give everyone a new version based on 2.2 that works out of the box than finding all the missing kernel modules for 2.3 and building it from there.
In short, I'm lazy, and I want to have a newer release out faster.
haha oh ok no sweat! Sorry wasn't tryin to call you out...just curious. Anything that can be done would be great! Hope you get something going soon!
I was thinking of maybe getting the flipside on te insurance program (from a backflip) but it seems like you guys are worse off than us. i cant seem o find source code on moto's site... do you guys know where it might be?
Any progress on a CM7 port? I just got my GF a flipside since she can't deal with on screen keyboards....and she previously had a backflip with CM7 lol
so I've been visiting recently on this and the cyanogen mod forums and it doesn't look like anyone has hit gold yet, or have I missed something somewhere and all the cool kids are having fun with their flipsides and I'm out in the lurch?
My wife too got this phone because of the keyboard...If no development comes soon...I think I might just try and sell it to whatever sucker wants to buy it and then head on over to Canada (eh?) and purchase a G2...
maybe soon...
Motorola is beta testing froyo right now. We may soon have a valid froyo image for the awesome development teams to work with.
