This isn't really a Desire specific annoyance, I think it's since Android 2.1
All contacts with the same name would automatically merge on the phone, although they are different people (with the same name)
Does anyone know how to stop the contacts merging ?
Are you on stock or a rom, if your on stock you can unlink contacts, i am not sure where to do it on a chef cooked rom but its a auto feature of android 2.1

Hi guys, MANY MANY thanx 4 yours efforts to relase this beautiful roms... but:
i hope someone like me wants an "HTC like " rom
I mean if can be relased a pseudo-official ROM. I hope, 4 example, that Black version is very very useful, but i don't like the blacks settings.
Could you, WM Black, XDA live or LVSW cooker, make a CLEAN ROM (however all registry keys are useful) like an original htc rom??
Perhaps a green HTC skin/theme pack would be better?? That way you can select which ROM you want to use.....and then apply the green HTC style to it?!
With this poll i mean that with an extended rom unlocked & a STANDARD BASE Os (with extnded rom unlocked by default also 4 those haven't SUPERCID, why not), we can do everything!!!
so all we need is a great ordered post, wit all the cabs used by rom cooker's .. i've seen in the lastest rom versions that they installs other stuffs on the HR.
If you would make a good relase for ALL USERS, i hope we need a patched os like sd card registry, PIE 1-Handed Navigation registry, lastest versions of mms composer, camera, ecc ecc; however all are related to the windows Os.
Then with cab files & extended rom, we can add (or remove) all your extra stuff like additive programs & specific customizations.
Due to the storage space, i've choosen WM Black 1.2, and however i plan to re-flash it & customize the extended roms apps, removing the black skins etc, then make it green.
On my Trinity I am trying many of the new ROMs. Backup doesnt help much.
Is it possible to make a cab-file who installs the few programs I allways use (cabs), and copy the ringtones and alarms and themes to their right places? Also maybe delete the ringtones I dont need as well. This would save me much time each time I change ROM.
Also I am looking for norwegian spellchecking, independent of what ROM I use.
hi all,
i have a rom which is two months old. it came with opera, however there is a later opera version which is really nice.
how do i remove the old opera to install a new one when it does not list in "add / remove programs" ?
there are other programs too, but im using opera as an example.
if it simply cannot be done then fine.. i hope for a decent WM6.5 rom soon
that's why it's better to have a clean ROM to begin with unless you flash 3-4 times a day like some of us here
What interests me is the Name of this thread.
why don't chefs integrate Device Update into their ROMs?
that would make sense,
or why not have the programs installed but list them in add/remove programs so they can be updated individually.
just a thought, but may be it saves disk space or something having them fully integrated as one phone ROM..?
i suppose i should learn how to cook :/
Hi all,
I am impressed on how responsive and fast the native froyo roms are. Esp, Defrost & OpenDesire. However, the input IME does not consist of simplified chinese which I need to use daily to commute with the China counterparts.
I have tried manually replacing Clicker_Hi.apk & HTC_IME_hi22.apk with the Cliker.apk & HTC_IME.apk extracted from 2.13.707.1 Official firmware but whenever i launch the keyboard, it just throws me a FC message.
Can anyone advice on how can i make the Asian IME work with native froyo? Are there any apk which I didn't replace thus the errors?
Pardon me for my poor command of English.
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Ruff
Edit: Read somewhere that htc_ime uses com.htc.framework.jar or com.htc.resources.apk. Does it mean htc_ime.apk can work on native android rom if i add these 2 files in?
One other question:
In OpenDesire, there is a English (Singapore) locale but in Defrost, there isn't one.
Which file should i edit in native froyo to have that? I know for sense rom, the options to add in more locales are found within the Customize folder but for Native froyo, i couldn't find any.
Can someone enlighthen me on this?
Last question:
In the recent Froyo sense rom, there is an issue of facebook events/birthdays are synced to the phone but in the calendar, the date is 1 day earlier than actual. I find that in framework-res.apk, preferred_time_zones.xml, the time zones are in US Pacific time. Could this be the reason that for GMT + countries, the facebook calendar entries created on the phone are converted to PST timing instead of GMT * timing?
Sincerely hope that someone can help me with the questions.
Thanks!
Moved to Q&A. Please don't start threads in development for questions.
Dear XDA community,
I have an issue I cant seem to fix on my own. And since I am a n00b I cant post directly in the Desire HD Development forum. So here it goes!
In calander I can add an exchange account. Google calander adds a / in front of my inlog name. [email protected] then I log in to my work account on webmail.XXXX.nl
But calender makes my email (used to login) \[email protected]
I used to clear the slash and made it work, in this latest version its no longer possible to change the name of the account (it says). So no syncing work calander for me.
Can this be fixed?
Can I swap calander APK to an older version? and if so could some recomend an older calander APK version (perhaps even supply a link?)
Please help me. It will mean soo much to me for the 6.1 ICS version finally fixed the camera and I hate to flash back to 5.5
EDIT: Option: Maybe I can copy the calender.apk from 5.5 put it on SD, than flashback to 6.1, delete calender 6.1 and copy calender 5.5 from sd? And again, if somebody has the apk please link
After twitter contact with Lord ClockaN, I removed EmailGoogle.apk & ExchangeGoogle.apk. With TU. copied the Email.apk and Exchange.apk from my SDcard (from ICS 5.5 AOKP) in the 6.1. ROM and now I get Email has stopped...
??? Hmm proberbly something with the cold removal of the apk's.. Any thoughts?
Have you tried IceColdSandwich 6.2?
It works fine for me.
