How much Ram do yours use after you start it up, after the boot??
with no programm running [the ones in background are not counted], in today screen, first time, how much is it??
Starts out at around 65 in the latest Energy Roms from the usual 54 from earlier Roms....But as the day goes on it grows very high sometimes into the 90's then I have to reboot
51% at start up. It use to be lower when i apply the resproxy thing, somewhere around 42%.
but anyway, with 51% at startup it idle at around 65% after 2 or 3 days without soft reset. Stock 2.1 ROM.

That's about where I'm at with the ROM in sig. 47% startup, mid 60s after a couple days.

Same here. close to 90% very quickly. Memory leak is a huge issue for Energy ROM. I do like Energy ROM's speed and full of useful applications.
Memory leaks are normal in Windows Mobile. Looking forward to not worrying about them in WP7.

Can get there by disabling Sense, or using WinMo 6.1.
i've got up to about 85% in use or 30K remaining free. now i'm usually around 50k free or 30% free
My phone uses about 47-48% at start up (see screenshot attached) but it quickly goes up to about 53-55% after a short while. After 24 hours it hovers around 58 - 60%
mine uses around 33% on startup and around 50-70% when using it, by using cleanRAM i can get down to around 47% but my phone is still soo slow no matter what % its using!!!
I have just had my screen replaced under warranty and HTC have loaded the latest OS on my phone (WM6.5.3, I think). How do I view the percentage RAM used? It was simply clicking around where the battery icon was on the older WM6.5 I had but thats not the case with this latest version.

The latest stock release does not come with a task manager. Touch X Task manager [ forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584415 ] is exactly the same.
It'll be interesting to see what your RAM usage is with the stock ROM

Thanx mate. I thought so as well cos i looked everywhere for it.
26%, thanks to jacko's old school rom. I like this rom too bad !!
Time to Wake up people !!!
about 65% on boot, 85-90% while using it
i never understood peoples obsessions with free ram, if you only use 26% why have 192mb at all? get a device with 64mb since thats all you need
my TP2 doesnt run slow (in fact the only times i runs noticeably slow is when i use cleanRAM or something to force the system cache to drop its ram) i never get memory errors and it very rarely closes background programs on me, so if it wants to use 90% of its ram i dont see a problem here

Thats saying something like: Why should you buy a car, which goes 260 km/h, if the max speed allowed is 140 ??
You dont need the 192 all the time, but if neccesary you do. It has nothing to do, with what you need or what.

does exists a software specially for overclocking my P3300 CPU? I tried xscalar, or something like that, but it takes my device only on 196 mhz, starting from 133mhz (or this 133 is over my 200 mhz by default?)

Everytime I feel my Artemis needs an Overclocking - I give it a ROM straight up its slithery USB Hole !!!!
hee hee hee !
Look, just configure your ARTEMIS BatteryStatus,CpuScalar for 120, 201, 247 with this configuration your battery last for ever because when it doesnt need speed goes to the lowest speed, only if you are running aplication the overclock take action.
Hope it helps,

Thats cool, thanks!
If you can avoid it, don't overclock!
As stated earlier in this thread...
I've found that overclocking, even with scaling, seriously affects battery performance.
I was until today running Vanilla 2.0, which was ok until I added batterystatus, with either fixed or scale doverclocking - both of which drained the battery like crazy.
If battery status is an isuse, use a lean, clean rom and don't load up loads of stuff you don't need - then the device will perform faster... I've just switched back to the Dopod WM6 release, and unclocked it runs everyhting I need absolutely fine.
To me, overclocking is like the salad bar in Pizza Hut.... I ain't going near it!

lol, thats good! Fair point, I'll keep an eye on the battery life.
Perhaps changing the max speed to the standard speed, but keep the low idle speed set will improve power consumption?

I think you're probably better off just not installing stuff you don't need, and where posisble install to your SD card, keeping RAM as free as possible - that will give you a cleaner machine and reduce the need to be tempted to consider trying to overclock... make sure that you have low standby and backlight off settings when on battery use, and keep your device on charge overnight so you always have a devcent level of charge in the morning. If you need to, buy a desktop charger from ebay for a few quid, and stick your phone on it when you get home...

Thanks for the advice. The CPU clocking is being done with Battery Status, which is part of the ROM, so If power consumption continues to be a problem I'll disable the over-clocking function from the Battery Status Options.
As for charging I'm fine, I have an in-car charger and a 40 minute commute every morning/evening
Thanks again,
John
i've got a question about batterystatus, maybe some1 in this post knows the answer:
is there a way that batterystatus keeps the overclock setting while suspended? i would love to UNDERclock my cpu to 123mhz when suspended, so safe extra battery, but seems that everytime i suspend, BS sets it back to 201.
i tried the options, but i can't figure out if it's possible to over/under clock while suspended.
Have you tried the CPUScaler option? It's build in to version 1.04
For the original FAQ etc goto the BatteryStatus website. Or read more in this thread.
i haven't try it. i have artemis 2.2

Well, although I can't uninstall the battery bar I have disabled the over clocking! I sat yesterday and could almost watch the power drain in real time, even with the Max speed set to 201Mhz. I switched the function off and the battery is lasting a lot longer again.
Moral: Don't over-clock at all!

I've tried ALL the cooked ROMS here - I have a 'spare' device for testing...
I use my device for work emails, sat nav, personal mails, web browsing, music, and as my phone. I pair it up with a Sony Blootooth car stereo.
So... aside from a few games, what else do you need to do with your phone? I'd suggets that most of the stuff loaded onto some of the ROMS is completely superfluous and just clogs up the device - things like the touch cube are really tarty overheads. Over the past year, I have played with most stuff that's out there, free and paid, and have a pretty default set of standard stuff that I load onto a clean RM. I was using Vanilla 2.0, but that still ate battery, so when I read that the Dopod shipped WM6 ROm was fast and bare, I thought I'd give it a go, and I haven't looked back...
Here's what I have on it, all running from the Stoarage Card where possible:
CloseAll
Hibernate
Hbutton
TodayAgenda (enhanced Calendar on Today)
Sunnysoft Contacts (one fingered dialling in the car)
TotalCommander
TomTom 6
Coreplayer (gives far better bluetooth audio streaming, and plays videos)
iphone keypad (default one buttons too small in the car)
SamsungTime (big clock on Today, but doesn't have the weight of HTC)
With all of this, I get brilliant battery life and a more than adequate response time without any overclocking, and over 20mb useable ROM.
TangerineTractor,
Why have you choosen the Dopod WM6 rom?
After having that rom I switched to the official Europe WM6 rom. No big differences, but with Ms Office 2007 on board, now the Word and Excel files are fully compatible with my desktop PC. The only disadvantage was that I had to install AudioManager separatelly. (But, in fact, I rather use CorePlayer.) It's a stable and reasonable fast rom. Storage Memory is low but each prog is in Storage Card if applicable. And there is very low RAM leaking (after a day of usage it's still above 20 M -- and Spb Mobile Shell runs constantly!).
Have you tried the Europe ver.?

According to 090826a_Barium_ATT_UM.pdf, opening the Quick Menu will show you the "total percentage of program memory in use". My question is... what's a normal amount? For me, it's 67% with no running programs.
That will depend what ROM are you using.
Sense 2.5 uses a lot more RAM

Depends what ROM I am running and what tweaks I have performed. I can usually idle around 61-63% on sense 2.5. WM6.1 TF3D 50%. SPB Mobile Shell 61-65% (I could probably get this lower on a different ROM). I use cleanRAM when switching between SPB and Sense and at the end of each day.
super stock sense 2.1 rom, resproxy and no push internet tweaks, idling at max 65% after three days.
I dont use cleanram often too, i tend to forgot about it. Havent soft reset in a week and the phone still running nice

Hello all..
I'm a new HTC Diamond user, and after a 2-3 days of installing and removing all kind of roms i decided that someone should post a thread with the fastest ROMS for diamond.
as we know the HTC Diamond suffer from low battery and low ram...
i saw alot of new topid that users request fast roms...
so for me and other users (as i read in this forum) that want their phone to work fast, I'm making this thread.
So if you are looking to the fastest Rom with low RAM/Memory consuption and good battery life... you are in the right place!
so i'm starting a new table of a very fast roms..
any help from you users will be very greatful!
So this is the list so far..
All data taken from the actual thread od the roms creators..
Please get a look on the attach image Roms.gif
new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages, so i'm unable to show it in this post only to attach i.
Any help with DATA or other good roms will be more then welcome!
Please help us the new ones to start easly!
btw! anyone who need help with installin groms please P.M me
I have original ROM with TOuchFlo3D disabled, running some today screen plugins (Date, East Today Launcher, EffComm, Device Lock)
WM 6.1
Free memory: 107 Mb
Free RAM after Boot-up: 44%
Battery drain after Boot-up: 63 mA
Free RAM after Standby Wake-up: 45%
Battery drain after Standby Wake-up:33 mA
All radios turned off (cell, gps, wifi, bluetooth).
Switch on when needed (via Today plugin EffComm)
donsalari's WM 6.1 SuperLite Titanium Version Two seems very interesting. I'd like to try it out, but I don't like installing all apps again.

Well, actually it is the factory default rom, that was already inside my phone when i bought it.
It is normal when RAM goes up while using applications but during standby and after wakeup is the value that counts. I would definitley install a rom which has RAM usage like 35-36 %.
In your updates about new ROMs, it would be great when you post also "Current Battery Drain Value" - the bigger the value is, the faster battery will empty.
In my today screen there is instead of the original battery logo 3 values which show battery PERCENTAGE, Battery Drain Value in mA, and battery TEMPERATURE.

Fastest rom???
You write in your title: "The Fastest Rom List". But whre is a benchmark of speed??? I just see ROM and RAM... that has nothing to do with speed.
A while ago there was a poster, he did "real" benchmarking... but i dont understand this thread.
Well.. i looked on those beanchmarks...but that didn't help me.
i'm only in my start but i think that the more Free Ram/Memory you have the more faster is your device?
if i'm wrong please tell me..
I wanted to investigate the sporadic freezing in my Galaxy S2. So, I turned on, show CPU usage under the developer's options in ICS. For reference I'm currently running Jedi Knight's latest rom.
I have attached a picture of my cpu usage while at my home screen. The number I've read to be average loads, and anything over 1.00 means trouble. I'm consistently over 10 for my one, five, and fifteen minutes averages. Also, my red bar which apparently measures time in kernel, sometimes spikes and correlates with a brief moment of unresponsiveness.
I've only seen two other screenshots and both users were under two. I was curious what everyone else's loads were. Also, let me know how frequent you have brief freezes, what kind of background apps you usually run. Include info like how many activities do you allow to run in background, do you force gpu rendering, etc. I can't wait to see other's results.

I got like 9/10/11 on mine. I always suspected that I have unusually bad battery life no matter what ROM I'm on, now I wonder if this has anything to do with it...
I'm on Eugene's Plain Jane ROM, which is an AOSP ICS ROM. The Manage Apps menu shows about 10 processes running. Force GPU is on.

Thanks, for the response. Do you ever experience temporary freezes? My goal is to figure out if my mini-freezes are caused my memory or CPU.
Sorry for the bad picture quality. I posted through the android app. Anyway, I've left my phone alone for 15 minutes, and I got 8.7/8.7/8.7. I wonder if this uses a different scale than the Unix scale.

That's normal. The only roms I know that work 100% smooth are Jelly Bean Roms on OFFICIALLY supported devices like the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus. (Yes the Nexus S runs smoother than this phone. Not faster, smoother) but what OP is stating isn't normal in the least bit. My advice? Ditch that rom. I've never experienced such high CPU activity on any rom and its bad news. Your phone will eventually overheat and shut down. Never a good thing when the SoC gets no form of cooling.

Min has always been in the area of 9/9/10ish. My screen has never stuttered not even on GB, no rrs or sods on official cm10 so far either. My battery life is an entire day (16hrs) of listening to music/playing emulators nonstop.
Make sure you have the 2 idle processes in your battery. If you don't then your phone doesn't idle which will kill your battery life.
If you are using cwm non-touch make sure you use dark side tools or upgrade to touch recovery (cwm 6.x.x.x or TWRP... my favorite). Reinstall your ROM with a complete wipe, install gapps, boot it up then wait 10 mins before doing any setup.
If you are idling then look at your batt stats again... screen is probably waaaay up there... play with your brightness settings.
Hope this helped

Look at what is running. It sound like something is running in the background that is sucking up the memory. If you do a reset and re-install of everything, before you find out what is causing the memory problem you may be right back to square one.

I agree with this, when your talking free "ram" as shown in the task manager , it is what is running at the time, not what is installed?
In my system i have not seen the "ram" ammount drop below about 350m ever.
Usually ranging between 200-400 free. Usually if I close the browser and clear my task manager, I can get higher. The thing is, why would you want all that unused? If your battery isn't being drained and your phone isn't lagging, you should be good to go.

well, even if it is only 10 MB free, you should not worry about it(its a smartphone), until it affects performance of battery life!
to check whats eating up your RAM, go to settings>>general tab>>apps>>running tab!
you can also go to battery settings to check the most power hungry apps!
or you can install DU Battery Saver!

I agree with this, when your talking free "ram" as shown in the task manager , it is what is running at the time, not what is installed?
In my system i have not seen the "ram" ammount drop below about 350m ever.

PsykoGeek ram or memory is what I was talking about but that also includes the apps or software that is installed on the phone also If the underline problem is not found first, anyone can do a factory reset and re-install the app and there is a very high percentage that it will come back.
I would look at the app that I have downloaded and start to turn them off one by one and see which one could be the culprit. After you found one or two, see if you can live with out them.
High RAM usage is actually a good thing on Android unless you use a lot of emulators like I do. On PC, low RAM is good, but on here the more RAM that's used the better it is. Makes opening apps much faster. What would be killing the battery is an app keeping your device awake even when the screen is off.

Let me first say my Ram is usually around 350. But now I have a question, how is low ram a good thing and I am not trying to start anything I just like to learn more about the Andriod OS. I have use Wndows OS for year and it was always, like you said, bad to have low ram. So what has Adroid done to reverse that?
Again just trying to understand.
With 7 apps open.
