I've been getting a lot of FC's on a variety of different apps. Can't really pinpoint on what changed/added/deleted that could have started causing all of this. Hard Reset time? Will I lose my contacts (not gmail contacts i know i wont lose that) or is it saved to sd? Also, is there an app for non-rooted completely stock Evo like Titanium backup to back my apps up?
Thanks in Advance!

I am considering buying (or as the Dev calls it "donating") for Titanium Backup for the freezing feature. I am tired of having to reset all of my settings, redownloading apps, etc, etc.
Anyway, I heard that if I just freeze the apps it "fools" the update into thinking that it is still there while the app not running.
Does this work?

I think freezing only shuts off and hides the app from the app drawer so you can modify it. (At least, that's what another site says)

And does it hinder the OTA process?
Anyone know how to solve this? Sent my phone to HTC to get repaired. Got it back, logged into gmail iva the phone and only one of my apps is being restored. Only "mybackup" comes up as restored. Nothing else is showing.
I have my apps backed up on mybackup as well as my data but why isn't gmail doing it?
If i restore apps via "mybackup" then they do not show up in the market so i don't want to do it that way. Is there anything else i can do? I logged into the android market via my laptop and it had a list of about 15 of the apps i had but not even close to all of them.
Any advice appreciated. I thought this would be a simple process but evidently it doesn't seem like it.
Edit: Just been back to the a android website via my laptop and none of my apps are listed there anymore. Only the one that restored itself and the stock apps... Great. So i'm screwed now i take it?
I'm not sure about reinstalling from market. As far as I remember it didn't worked well for me either. If you have rooted phone you can use Titanium backup which will backup not only apps but the data too. So, if you set high score in a game or you set up some app to your preferances you will have them all back.
To backup up only apps for later reinstalling I use Astro file manager : https://market.android.com/details?id=com.metago.astro. With Astro you can backup all your apps for later installing after performing factory reset.
I already backed my apps using Astro and mybackup, however im pissed off that googles own inbuilt system won't restore my apps despite suggesting that it would. Plus anything i restore with Astro and mybackup will not show up in the market. Haven't got a choice now i guess.
They also ruined my contacts backup as well while we are at it. I saved my contacts to gmail a few weeks back, came back today and none of them are my contacts, they are however, half of the people i follow on twitter. Neither gmail or twitter are linked to each other so how the hell did gmail manage to get into my twitter account and then replace my saved contacts list with people i follow on twitter. What farce this all is.
I have that backed up in 2/3 places thankfully but what kind of service is this from google? Its worked fine in the past but the one time i need it, everything goes wrong.
I don't know when it it started, but my contacts just won't open, and even my dialer is difficult to open unless it is on the actual dial pad when closed last (if it's on logs, favorites, or contacts it also force closes whenever I try opening it). I was using Ready Contacts for a while, but I don't like it so I went back to my TouchWiz contacts and dialer to find they are all jacked up. I've tried clearing cache, manually force closing it, and clearing data, but nothing works.
Anyone know what would cause contacts to refuse to open? I'm on 4.4.2 NF9 rooted but otherwise stock.
Thanks.
I have exactly the same issue, any help would be appreciated
Sent from my SM-N900T using XDA Free mobile app
I just upgraded on the weekend. I did not have problems with contacts but had problems with Google services using to much battery.
I had to factory reset. You don't lose root, you will have to download it again.
Using Titanium back and restore data was problematic with apps like 3C Tool box that alter performance or permissions on your phone. I cleared my data for 3C and some force closes went away.
I was getting reboots when scrolling through some apps. Reinstalling 3C and resetting the data got rid of problems.
It is new firmware and sometimes it is better to reinstall apps than restoring them from backup.
I don't know if any of this will help. Just some thoughts from my experience.

Using xposed? First thought was the mod for showing a call icon in contacts list... if you are in a VoLTE area (and have it on) it FCs due to pointing to a non-existant image. Not sure it's the issue but figured I'd share.

That's probably exactly it, since it's intermittent, and seems to have started around the time I installed Wacom. I've disabled it and will see if the problem goes away. Thanks!
Im just curious if we have a list of apps that are safe to actually remove from the phone? Im currently using titanium backup to uninstall ones I dont want but I dont want to go too far without knowing what i may or may not do to the phone since there really isnt any custom roms yet.
You should use TB to freeze system apps that you are unsure of. If you don't getting any errors or FC's afterwards, you know it's safe to uninstall. IMHO though, I would just leave them frozen as I don't see much to gain from uninstalling. The only exception would be Hangouts, it likes to FC even when frozen.
I rooted my phone (Note10+) yesterday and have since then had big issues then it comes to restoring my backup. If I select all missing apps (including data if existing) it only restores few and gets always stuck on same apps like Dropbox, Aliexpress, SwiftKey keyboard etc, other are restored just fine like so many times before. Another strange thing is while it is stuck the phone vibrates like everything is done but there is no notification to be seen. I have googles and tried all kind of things that have helped people with this kind of issue and all are few years old. Why is this happening suddenly? Any kind of help is much appreciated.
I do remember during my S8 plus time I also having this same issue on some apps like banking app etc, try to filter those apps out and create a custom list
I am running into the same issue. Maybe this is due to split apks. I just checked Dropbox using sai tool and indeed that app is built up of split apks...
