Kinda noobish with this so bear with me for a second
So, First I was running fresh .02 then .03
When I rooted with toasts method, I noticed there was some wimax dev tools and I thought hey these look like they could be fun. So I backed them up.
When I flashed fresh 02 I moved them back into system/app and modifed the permissions accordingly.
Cleared dalvik and rebooted. Only one showed up, I was running adw.launcher at the time so i thought maybe that sense has to be active in order for it to show up, so i cleared defaults for adw and selected sense and they still didnt show up. Didnt worry about it to much so I said screw it.
Well now im running DC 3.1.2 and im using the banned apps feature to kill sense. Well I moved calendar.apk (htc calendar) back into sytem/app once again verifying permissions, clearing dalvik and its not showing up. I verified that it is not being banned so...im not sure why its not showing up.
I dont understand what im missing here. So any help would be cool

Rooted with Fresh 3.2 ROM
Basically Got it all installed and all my apps reinstalled with titanium back up, reinstalled my contacts, then set up the layout for all the apps and widgets the way I like it.
I first used Rom Manager to make a back up of the install. After it finished and the phone rebooted back in everything was reset to a set up similar to when I first rooted with phone only some widgets had "Problem loading Gadget" boxes and some apps were missing along with wall paper and stuff like that.
I reinstalled all my apps and set it all up and then when into recovery and did a backup with Nandroid. After the reboot everything was messed up again. the same as before. Thinking that it was just a bad install. I wiped all data and installed the Fresh ROM from scratch and installed everything yata yata.
Tried to make a back up again since it was a fresh install but the same problem keeps happening. What am I doing wrong or is there some folder with data in it that is getting messed up or overwritten when I do a back up. I'm not changing anything or doing a restore so no changes should be made to cause this.
I've also tried to do a restore after the problem and it just loads back up the same way with the problems.
Moved to Evo 4G Q&A from Hero Q&A
So currently i am running stock deodexed official 2.2 with my own modifications set in place, all from .zips. i cleaned out all of the stock apps that i know will not cause problems and are not linked with other apps. then when i saw all the stuff cleared out in that new "feather rom" or whatever its called, i decided to clear out a few more stuff. now, i am getting the repeated "com.htc.bgp force close." its a few times an hour and its annoying. i think its from one of these three apps: WeatherAgentService
WeatherProvider
WeatherSyncProvider
because everything else i deleted was pretty much independent (eg mail.apk). i already had weather deleted, so i figured deleting these wouldnt be much of a problem. and no, i didnt do a nand backup because im an idiot. is there a way i can replace these apps? or should i just deal with it
New poster so I can't post in the dev section but I pulled this from the cyanogen forums re: restoring of apps in cm7 nightly 6+
"If the issues you refer to are segmentation faults when trying to use "adb install" then yes, I'm experiencing the same thing. This seems also to be tied to the inability to use Titanium Backup to restore apps (as it looks like it's using the same install method that ADB uses). There appears to be a problem with the package manager, as a logcat shows a crash in pm.jar.
So thats what's going on with titanium. I changed app processing mode to interactive and got it working. But now I have to restore the app then the data."
I am personally downloading nightly 8 and am trying this fix
What is it are you asking? Personally I'm having trouble restoring my backed up data to any other ROM other than CM7... cant figure it out... preventing me from flashing to an alternative ROM... cmon, who would want to beat Angry Birds all over again...
I had this problem, trying to reinstall apps with TB on cm7 nightly #6 and on. I was coming back from a sense rom but couldn't get them to install. So I just flashed rc1, restored my apps, then wiped cache, and dalvik cache and flashed #7. It worked.
Ti in CM7 Epic
I just posted this as a new thread... but I will repeat it here....
I saw your message in the CM7 thread for Epic.
I just updated my wifes' Epic and had the same problem. After playing around a bit I found that you must go into Ti setup and make the App Processing Mode into INTERACTIVE.
Menu>Preferences>Troubleshooting Settings>App processing mode.
It is WAY down toward the bottom of the menu so keep scrolling!
Once you are there, when you tell Ti to restore, it will actually prompt you for each install. Yeah, a royal PITA, but it WILL get all your apps back. It has something to do with the way CM7 handles formatting or something. Sorry I can't say for sure, but this works to get Ti onto CM7.
Once everything is setup the way you want, run Ti to do a backup in CM7 and all will be right with the world.
Good luck!
It looks like they have done some improvements on TiB. if you make the TB backup to your sd card and flash that, it seems to be better on the restore..
Hey guys,
Here is the issue. I thought nandroid would restore a total image of the system before i started tinkering with the new fresh 4.0 update. I nandroided my perfectly running fresh 3.5 and upgraded to fresh 4.0
I didnt like fresh 4.0 and decided to go back to 3.5
Well, it restored just fine, I booted up and the GMail and Market app were not working. I tried to clear the cache on both, but it would not clear. I deleted the apps from the system/app folder and flashed the gapps zip thru recovery.
Now gmail works fine, but the market will not launch. it force closes every time.
Ive tried every which way (even tried to install a com.android.vending.apk i foiund) and it jsut wont work.
1) How do I fix the market?
2) Why am I having this issue anyway? I cleared dalvik/cache/factory reset/ then restored the nandroid. Why did it not go back EXACTLY the way it was?
Thanks so much
Abe

**** EDIT ****
THANK baby jesus. I downloaded a com.android.vending 2.3.3 and did adb push to the system/app folder. now its working.
still doesnt explain why the nandroid restore let me down. Was not the full on "image restore" i was expecting!
Using Titanium backup I removed Voice command and installed s voice and started playing around with it working flawlessly. I went to market and started updating my apps (Just got the phone a few days ago) and tried to take a screenshot. I forgot what the command was (Power and home?) and I held power too long not knowing it's a force restart, and my phone well, restarted.... I turned it back on and it got stuck at the samsung loading bar screen and it hung with a small chunk left. Thinking something was wrong I rebooted into recover and wiped Cache. Phone booted fine but I couldn't reset my clock settings via No-frills. It said it stuck but I didn't see a change. Next thing I know everything was force closing including process.acore.
Restarted again and same thing, it got stuck at the loading bar, so this time I wiped cache and Dcache and it hung for a little, but finally finshed and rebooted, only this time it keeps saying "Unfortnately, Swype has stopped." and I can't switch keyboards.
Stock JB TouchWiz with root using TWRP. Pretty much barebones stock rom with a few safe apps disabled and the one Voice Command removed.
Help?
Which version of TWRP? 2.5.0, 2.4.4, etc. For me to get the JB roms working I had to use thederekjay's Darkside cache wipe after install. No problems since then. You can find his super wipe and cache wipe on the interwebs, he isn't hosting them on xda anymore.
2.4.4, I was unaware there was a more recent version.
This time I tried fixing permissions and still, swype is unresponsive and keeps crashing. Could you maybe link the cache wipe? My laptop is old as hell and would take me the rest of the day trying to just navigate away from this page.
I sent you a PM.
OMG TY SO MUCH. Idk if it was the wipe script or that I shut the phone off for a little bit, but it fixed my problem. TY TY TY TY TY. Thumbs up are totally going to you. If thederekjay is still here, I'll try and thumb him up too.
NP, the scripts have saved my ass a couple times!
