Just noticed a very odd thing with my Desire.
I connect via bluetooth A2DP to a Sony Head unit and all works great when streaming music to it.
However I noticed the old battery was getting a bit low so plugged in the charger to give it a boost and the BPM and Pitch of the music increased!
Unplugged to double check and it slowed down a little and then speeded back up when plugged in again!
Can't get it to replicate when on headphones / speaker only when connected via Bluetooth to the car.
Can someone else try this and see if they can replicate this madness!

Sounds like a resampling issue. It may be running at a lower sample-rate to save battery and/or bandwidth when not plugged in but not actually resampling the file at all (resampling costs CPU usage).
Try comparing it to a computer by playing the same song file and see which one is slower/faster.
If it is infact the bluetooth system doing it to save power, I'd say it's most likely a bug, although one which is most likely unnoticeable for conversation use.

Bluetooth stereo headset: Sony DR-BT10CX
Problem: The playback pitch is changed after silence
The solutions form their support site http://www.sony.co.th/support/faq/189664/product/dr-bt10cx/modelfirst?site=hp_en_TH_i:
(1) Check interference with Wireless Lan or other Bluethooh connections.
(2) The communication condition may improve by sliding MODE switch to MODE 2
My question: what is MODE 2? How to switch to it? MODE 2=discoverable? MODE 1=connectable? Can someone answer, please?
Thanks in advance.

*My music is playing at different speeds, when connected to my bluetooth stereo headset (Sony, DR-BT10CX). Only when there's a silence, it is played at a higher speed and then at a slower speed, which is very annoying (it results in a false sounding song). It is a hardware-related problem discribed here: . General support site: http://www.sony.co.th/support/product/dr-bt10cx?site=hp_en_TH_i
i have something similar

HTC artemis, Moto HT820 headphones, touch 4.01 rom. on resume, it sounds *fractionally* faster for a second. I though I was imagining it...!
Update: The silence and pitch change is caused by interference with other wireless connections. In this case that is WiFi ~ wireless LAN. At the university some points are sensitive. Now, there is very little to no interference anymore. Speculative, the battery status may also play a role here.
Next to this, switching to MODE 2 (where the reception stability takes priority) might be a hardware switch on the Bluetooth headset, according to the manual of some other similar products. I haven't found such switch on my Sony.
I have it too
I have noticed the same on my EXIBEL BT stereo headset when listening to music from my TYTN II. It lasts for periods of several seconds, and is quite annoying. BTW, this happens even when i'm out walking in the open, presumably at a fair distance from any WIFI transmitters.
Yes, I have the same problem with my HTC One S (villec2) and cheapo sports headset. I can't really talk about the state of the art, since this phone is stuck on Android 4.1.1 -- but it just beggars belief that any developer anywhere thought it was acceptable to deal with buffer under/over-runs by varying the sample rate, and hence the pitch and tempo, during stereo playback. Do these people never listen to music?
What probably happened was that the Bluetooth audio system was originally designed for hands-free telephony, where low latency is paramount and pitch changes are barely noticeable since the content is just speech. This system was then re-used for stereo, when what they should have done was allow a larger buffer and longer latency (which doesn't matter with music playback) to cope with data interruptions. Lazy engineers.
Anyway, turning off Wi-fi greatly reduces the incidence of pitch shifts, but does not eliminate it completely. I look forward to the day when there is a supported custom ROM for my device based on Andriod >= 4.2, which apparently has improvements to Bluetooth data delivery. Bt I'm not holding my breath.
Bluetooth issue
I have the same problem with the Bluetooth skipping as well. I heard that it may be a interference problem with WiFi but its most likely the ROM. This ROM has stopped me from constantly switching to other roms because it has all the features I want and the battery life is great. I just hope that the Bluetooth issue can be fixed in time. :good: :good: for this amazing ROM though.
Hello everyone,
An idea just popped in my head, what do you think:
A program that changes the device volume/volume in the music-player according the noise it picks up from the outside via the phone's mic.
For example if you sit on a bus that has a pretty loud engine the music would become louder (preferably you can define by how much, maybe by defining a maximum, or assigning each noise level an arbitrary volume which is comfortable for you) but as soon as you get off the bus and the environment is a lot quieter it would drop down to normal/other predefined.
I googled a little bit, but couldn't find anything like, that, so what do you think? I don't consider myself as a programmer, so if any developers are interested feel free to actually make the program happen, I would be more than happy to use it.
Others: opinions are welcome!
Thanks,
DOMy
Honestly I'd be interested in something like that, but only to get white noise to try and lower environmental noise: I'd like volume changing ability only for the MP3 player, to recognize actual speed and turn up/down according to that. It's a feature you can find in stock, factory default car audio system (my wife's 2005 Micra, not a full optional, has got that), battery drain wouldn't be a problem as I always plug my ppc to the car cradle when I drive.

I get the idea exactly from the car-factories, the volume changing according to the speed works great
I am pretty new to Android and still trying to get all the grips on I need. As of now, there is one thing that really bugs me badly.
I use the device for Sat-Nav driving a lot, I have a semipermanent installetion in my car from my previous smartphones. Basically just a power feed and a 3,5mm Jack that come out of the dash panel where the device holder is mounted. I recharge plug in for recharge as needed. The audio jack goes into the device, from there to a so-called Fastmute box behind the dash which is connected to the stereo head unit (the loudspeaker output cables running away from the head unit to be specific. The Speaker lines are interrupted by the box and just pass through whatever audio is being played back by the stereo. However, once there is current on the 3,5 audio jack (i.e. speech from the SatNav) the music immediately goes mute and you can hear the turn instructions in perfect quality through the car speakers. Once the signal fromthe satnav dies down stereo music comes back.
For my taste this beats most commercial, fixed systems.
Now, since I am on Android weird stuff happens.
On a first testrun shortly after I gut the Desire (which was o2 branded stock 2.1 at that point) I noticed that I do not get any announcements through the fastmute. Checked the jack, opened the dash to check internal wiring, retried a mp3 player. It's all good on that side. The accouncements come through the device speaker, hard to hear, easy to miss a turn etc. I do not why or how, but it seems that the audio routing takes a route different from other audio. This had me pretty much meh!
Well few days later, now with a ModaCo R8 custom ROM and Froyo I was hoping for good luck and gave it another whirl. Of course, no dice. When I plug in the jack of the supplied headset (which I assume doubles as a handsfree) I get the symbol for that in the upper symbol bar. When I exchange that headset jack with the regular 3,5mm jack the symbol looks different, but still vaguel like a set of speakers.
But now here comes the completion of the mindfaq... I had the SatNav volume at about medium (so barely hearble with driving ambient noise) when the phone went and I took the call through the Bluetooth Handsfree instaalled in my car and was distracted by the call (the car came euipped with the BT Handsfree from factory, so the stereo goes to "pause" and the conversation is routed into the vehicle speakers.. A few minutes into the call I suddenly hear a perfectly well understandable, clear turn instruction hopping into the phone conservation. I was extremely intrigued and was hoping that I discovered that CoPilot can route instructions either into A2DP or more likely emulate a "call event" that results in routing the audio into the according BT profile.
However, after that singularity I tried reproducing this for a god part of an hour, driving a route that forces many instructions from the SatNav, all the while calling my own answering machine fo have an connection established.
Sorry for the lengty explanation. Questions:
1 Has anyone ran into this before? What was your solution? Bear with it, switch SatNav software, avoid listening to music in oder to not miss any turn directions?
2. Is there a hack, hidden configuration that would enable me to _force_ this audio routint into the direction of the BT Handsfree, making it think it is an incoming call?
As a fellow co-pilot user I share your frustration.
You will probably find that it's nothing as technical as it not routing to bluetooth or whatever.
Co-pilot has a nasty habit of messing with it's own volume setting when a headset is plugged in. It tends to reduce itself down to zero without notification or cause. You would try to reset the volume, but firstly, it wont go more than a third of the way up, and secondly, it will simply jump back down to zero again on it's own.
They know about this issue and their response is not to use it with a headphone jack!
It is rather annoying!!
Hi,
The speaker on my HOX suddenly baceme quite quiet when watching you yube videos or playing music. I had assumed I'd damaged it in some way.
However, I've found out wher the problem lies-
I connected my HOX to a bluetooth speeker and used my phone to alter the volume. It apears that reducing the volume when your connected to a BT speaker reduces the maximum media volume.
I dont know if anyone has the same issue but this fix is worth a try.
Cheers

I'm not sure I've followed your idea but my back speaker is very low compared to my old Galaxy S, which makes no sense. I had thought about what kind of volume level is set up on you tube app but can't be controlled through there as when you watch something on a browser.
Anyway, what you are saying is that the media output volume automatically drops when connected to something via Bluetooth? Does it stay like that after a connection (I do use a Bluetooth headpiece quite often while driving) and what exactly is your fix to counteract this? I think your suggestion is connecting the phone via BT to something and then use the volume rocker to increase the volume as much as you can?
Cheers! :good:
thankss
Hey anyone have any audio issues on this phone or possibly another MIUI device? Here's what I'm getting:
Usually, I plug in my headphones and right away I get great volume and my player auto-plays. But as it keeps playing the music pauses for a second and then resumes automatically. The headphones icon disappears in the notification area for that time when the music stops. I thought it may be Poweramp's issue but the same thing happens in the default MIUI Music app. (Playing MP3s from SD card - haven't tried streaming apps yet.)
If I unplug and replug the headphones from the audio jack, the same thing happens still. But after I unplug and replug a bunch of times, eventually the music suddenly starts playing at about half the volume it was initially, and the problem no longer occurs! To clarify, the volume is still set to 100% but the actual output volume is only half as loud as it was initially when the problem occurs.
There's no MIUI audio settings I can find that could be responsible for this.. Any ideas??
This happened to me too, the problem is in outdated headphones jack. Try a few other ones, the newer versions of the handsfree will fit accordingly.

Interesting. Just to clarify, you're saying that the device I'm plugging into my phone (headphones) is the problem, right? It would make sense why other speakers I've plugged in haven't had this issue.. I wonder why it'd be happening since I've never run into this issue with any other phone and I've had these headphones for many years now.

Yes the device is fault. When you plug in the jack, the headphone icon starts blinking right? it goes on and off and keeps on until you force it to play some song.. I had been using my favorite headphones for 1.5 years and i had to buy new ones when i bought this phone because they wont work properly.
