Insight into the Car Dock app and invoking it.... - Desire General

I bought a MINI > MICRO USB Adapter from Ebay.
I have Paul's R3 ROM installed
Everytime I plug in my Desire using a MINI usb cable and the mentioned adapter to charge my Desire, up pops the Car dock app and the GPS starts connecting!
If I exit the Car dock app and press home the car dock app returns.
So whatever the combination I have it works for the car dock!
This is the adapter:

Maybe of help to someone

Interesting, I have one of these adapters so will try the same when I get home. What car dock app did you use? (assuming there is not one already installed!)

There seems to be one built-in on this ROM.
It comes up with:
Footprints, Navigation, Voice Seach, View Map, Search & Make a Call
Using Menu->Settings you can also get it to auto connect bluetooth!! Yay.
It looks the same as this, stock though I would guess.

its taken from the HTC incredible, not in the stock desire rom but built into the modaco rom, can be seperately installed into the stock rom however from an APK.

Playing audio from Android to my car stereo via USB

So I'm getting a new car tomorrow (2012 Chevy Cruze) and I know it has a USB port that allows charge/data.
I've been reading around the Cruze forums and it sounds like I can't stream Pandora/Google Play Music via the phone plugged into the USB port, but rather instead, I have to have an AUX cable and go through that. The disadvantage is I have to control the music via the phone, not the in-car console, amongst other things.
Has anyone had any luck getting an Android phone to stream Pandora/GooglePlayMusic through a USB port without using any mods or the AUX port? Apparently it works with iPhones, but not with Android.
Just was curious if that was true. Either way, I'll find out tomorrow.
I have a 2012 civic and my usb port in the car makes my phone go crazy so I haven't plugged in again. I have used bluetooth for pandora and it works. I can control volume through car.
no usb audio
Our phones wont do usb audio on car stereos. For some reason you can not mount your drives, i had a nexus s and evo that would mount though. It has to do with how samsung configured the system. I just went ahead and got a bluetooth system because it is easier to control the sudio from the phone and also hands free calling

Might be something in this that may help you out if you haven't seen it already.

Maybe this line out with usb type thing will be helpful. I haven't tried it yet but I'm going to be cutting apart one of my cables soonish to see if it'll work.
It's basically just using the dock audio setting for the Galaxy SII.
From what I was able to find, this isn't capable with current versions of Android and I found this information on the code.google website. If you do a google search for "android audio out through usb" it should be the second result listed with "Issue 24682" in the title.
However, it looks as though Android is going to add this function starting in Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). If you do a search with "android audio out through usb jelly bean" you'll get more info on the official details.
Good luck with your new car, hope this information helps.
There are a few aftermarket radios with partial support. The best I've seen is the AppRadio 2, but that's pretty expensive and I don't remember if it gets along with Google Play Music. I'm really interested in finding a good solution as well. My iPod Touch's battery life has gone to crap and I'd love to get rid of an Apple device rather than repair it.
I wonder if apps can control the USB port on Android? If so, one could potentially develop and app to spoof an iDevice...
You should be able to use the car radio volume with auxiliary.

I have Galaxy S3 and I upgraded to Jelly Bean, in hopes it would work - but it didn't.
In the Settings app, under Accessories, Jelly Bean users have a new option to play audio via external devices (they refer to it as "docks" which seems not too broad).
Apparently, this does not work unless the device was setup to support Google's audio protocol: Android Open Accessory Protocol 2.0 (AOA).
Android Documentation on that: source.android.com/tech/accessories/aoap/aoa2.html

Hello,
I just recently bought a Chevy Cruze eco 2012 - i didn't research about my android phone and i was dissapointed the bluetooth doesn't work as A2DP. I should of waited for a Eco 2013 includes mylink
I has to research later and found out that it's not supported. what i'm using now is a usb sitck to play my music and sometimes AUX.
I also read that we can use the bluetooth blackberry stereo gateway nad stream our music - i'm thinking of purchasing one.
Ahhh!!!
Also there is a hardware hack lol you can replace the bluetooth module PDIM from a Camaro.

I have been thinking about the PDIM not convinced 100% i dont wanna mess it up lol
I also try using the USB switcher mode to change to usb storage but i get an error for music data not supported.
If you find anything let me know

Do either of these exist?

2 different cables / adapters, one for automatic entering of car dock mode, the other for automatic entering of desk dock mode.
I've been searching all over this site and the net trying to find anything comparable to what I envision. I see that HTC has one out for the One X, but I would like some assurance that it will work for our phones as well before I shell out cash, and I have yet to find one with desk mode functionality...

use nfc, i use nfc tasker and got my tags from tagsfordroid works great and cheap too
I've got NFC tags and I'm using the Google Car Home app via NFC Task Launcher. I originally set it up to open the app but there was no convenient way to automatically close it. What I found, and others may already be aware of this, is that the Car Home app can be set to monitor BT and when a specific connection is made it will automatically start the Car Home app. Also, when the connection is lost for a user configurable period of time it will automatically close the app. So now all I use the tag for is to turn on BT and set volumes & brightness.
So even though the store says the app isn't compatible it is and just needs to be manually installed.

Perfect Flash functionality in Dolphin browser

For us Galaxy NOte II users.
1. Here is an app that will automatically download and install the latest version of Flash for Android (works on Jellybean).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30646684&postcount=1
2. Then, using either ESFile or Root Explorer...do into the base of your phones file system and find the
data/data/mobi.geek.TunnyBrowser/shared_prefs
folder. Delete
installed_plug_pref.xml AND mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser_preferences.xml
3. Now, when you go into Dolphin, it will be Flash enabled (always on)
Make sure that you go to the "more" menu in Dolphin and select user Agent "Desktop"
4. You can additionally (once you have configured your browser preferences) go into the properties of the "shared_prefs" folder and uncheck the write option, so that the settings can no be reverted.
Flash is the fastest I have ever seen on any cell phone...hands down.... easily. I guess it took a 1.6Ghz quad core for Flash to work perfectly on a phone.
I manually installed it and using it with Boat Browser. Works flawlessly. Now I got to get bluetooth/mouse for it to browse the web on my TV.

I just bought a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
Mouse-
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003AVN6C0/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00
Keyboard-
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HCO4GI/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00
Love them both. Even the function keys on the keyboard work.
I have an Amazon prime account do I paid $30 flat for the both of them.
Now I am on a hunt for an MHL adapter for HDMI out AND to get some programmable NFC tags for use in the car or when I get in the house.
I was thinking about this one since it has the touch pad built in. I sign up for Amazon Prime also but will probably cancel before the promo expires.
http://www.amazon.com/Anker-OrientE...TF8&colid=2NN334OFYO6V5&coliid=I2ZIHWEV02DFHB
I bought the universal MHL to HDTV from Samsung which comes with an adapter. But the adapter is quite fat and you will need to remove most case in order to use it. My case is a pain in the rear end to remove.

That is a teeny tiny one! Unless you want that on purpose.
You could try this one with a slide out mouse pad:
http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Wire...TF8&colid=16ZLZHWF45LWG&coliid=I3TJD58PL29F6U
I just saw the picture next to the phone, it is tiny. That Motorola one looks good but it doesn't come with a bluetooth dongle. I can use it with my phone but not my laptop and I am not sure what bluetooth HID is and if they sell separate adapter.

So, the point here is that you DONT want any product with a bluetooth dongle. If you don't have bluetooth on your laptop and you want the keyboard to work on your laptop then you have to buy a bluetooth adapter.
I think that you may want to look into this as well. you can control your phone from your PC keyboard and mouse with it.

But, in any case...you want to avoid having a dongle bluetooth receiver for your phone because it will occupy the microusb port and then you can't charge or your HDMI out while using your keyboard or mouse.
Am I making sense here?
Here is an adapter for your PC to have bluetooth:
http://www.amazon.com/Aitek-Bluetoo...sr=1-11&keywords=targus+bluetooth+4.0+adapter
Get a Bluetooth 4.0 with LE (Low energy technology). they are like 10 bucks.
Wish there was something for Chrome to be flash enabled

No I want the option of connecting to my laptop as well so if it comes with a dongle then it is great. I understand I do not need a dongle since my phone already has bluetooth and with the dongle, I won't be able to output to TV since I need that port for the MHL adapter.
So yes, buy that Motorola, and a separate receiver so I can use it with my laptop also. Thanks for all the links you posted so far.:good:

[Q]Galaxy note 2 Android and AppRadio

Hi, I'm just wondering if there is a way to trigger Page Buddy on my note 2 when it connects to a bluetooth device, much like it does when you connect the headphones. My goal here is I'm using a Pioneer APPradio in my car and there are certain apps and widgets that I only use when I'm in my car (google Now would be nice! so I now traffic is on the way home and stuff), which is where Page Buddy would come in handy... my phone connects to the appradio through an MHL adapter, however it isn't considered a docking station so it won't trigger that page buddy event.
Doesn't seem like anyone has really looked in to this, or maybe I just couldn't find any info on it. if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I kept digging info on how to do this and actually came up with something way better than pagebuddy, and that was just using a different launcher for my appRadio! So i have a total of 2 launchers, when i plug my phone to the appradio I can have maps, google now, car widgets as well as music widgets and then when I unplug my phone from the appRadio I use tasker to swap launchers again so I'll get all my regular widgets and apps I use when the phone is in my hand. It works great and I absolutely love it! Just thought I'd throw it out there for people that might be interested on this kind of stuff
Nfc tag installed in your dock could probably make it easier.

HELP: Appradio3 + S 3 + mirror link

First off I'm complete stumped with this unit. Follwed all install instructions to a tea. My 1st problem is the only icons that are active (not greyed out) are radio, bluetooh, off, display off, settings & rear camera. The icon that don't work are the app icon & Pandora icon. Why is this?*
Problem #2: When in settings I have serval functions that are greyed out. Everything bluetooth are not functionable. Again why is this is there something I didn't do.*
Problem #3: Can't freaking get Appradio or Mirror Link to work either. I'm using the Connectivity kit by Pioneer. I know it's working cause it shows my phone charging. But no active from either mirror link or Appradio. Yes I have both apps downloaded to my phone as well.*Now can someone please help me. Thanks in advance*
Mhl
You have to purchase a different mhl adapter. The one bundled in the pioneer kit does not work because it is a 5 pin mhl. . The gs3 uses an 11 pin mhl adapter. They also sell a 5 pin to 11 pin converter.
