New File Sharing site - perhaps we can use this for ROMs? - Hero, G2 Touch Android Development

I found this site while browsing reddit:
http://filevo.com/
Reddit discussion:
http://www.reddit.com/r/reddit.com/comments/c70zv/hi_reddit_ive_made_a_filesharing_site_which_i/
Perhaps the devs can start uploading to this site and see how well it works
PS: I am in no way affiliated with this site. I just want to get the best experience for all XDA users.

Some useful things for vBulletin

Here are a few things that could be useful in theory for the forums as an update.
I will link to the description of each mod/add on as they describe them best.
Also any thoughts from other members are completely welcome.
Also to note, vBulletin is now at version 3.8.x vs XDA at 3.7.4
Note that these require a licensed vBulletin to download and use.
If XDA ever had to be "rebuilt" I would recommend something more open like phpBB or such.

XDA Devs Forum tracked by PDAInfo.org

Did you know that every XDA forum thread is also available at this website ?
http://www.pdainfo.org/index.php
Amazing ...
Is it illegal or something?
Ugly site. They could use a graphix Team..like..urgent.
They basically just use the FEED from here to show the latest threads or latest activity on their site.
It actually helps xda-developers because it just provides more backlinks and more possible traffic

Mobile-view forum?

Hi guys
I'm just wondering if there's a mobile-view forum for mobile users?
Work is ongoing here :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540504
Also, try the archive view (see the pda link on the portal page).
Dave
Thanks a lot mod,it looks nice and won't take too long to open the web page.

Nitro Repository

Hi all,
I'm thinking of creating a repository of ROMs, kernels, mods, and guides available for download on my personal server. I want to do this so that everybody in the community will always know where to go to get the files they need and not have to search the forum every time.
Does anybody have suggestions of ROMs and such that I should try to get on there?
I'm loving the ParanoidAndroid ROM.

Your site i found most helpful, and suggested other people use it as well , once i found your site in a link in the forums I was on my way, but most roms kernalpanic1c , domination hd, cm9/10, panadroid 2.11(looks wicked!) you can find fairly easly here. Ofcourse having these all in one place and not have 50 bookmarks would be great. I havent played around much with the extra kernels or mods. Perhaps some stock .kdz files for the different versions P935/P936 .Something i can not find much on is different radios/modems , a point in the right direction is all i'm looking for with that. again thanks.

I understand you have good intentions, but I think you will be stepping on some of the developers' toes if you rehost their work. When you rehost files, you are keeping users from seeing the contents of the threads the developers made which can contain a lot of important and useful information. It also might prevent people from seeing the developers' donation links, for example.
I guess it depends on the way it's implemented, but I think it'd be more appropriate (and frankly easier) to have a stickied "start here" thread which neatly categories where to go for each specific thing, without actually rehosting any of it. There have been some efforts like that but inevitably they become outdated quickly and therefore useless.

That's why I said "try"... Of course I'd be asking the devs if I could upload their work.

Can web app betas be posted on XDA?

Hi,
I'm in the process of developing a web app. I was wondering if it was permitted if I could advertise a beta for it on this forum. It will eventually have an android version, but at first I want to see if people are interested in what I have right now. If so, what would be the best section to put it under? General?
Yea, I don't see any issues with you doing that. I'd say general would be the best place
Awesome thanks
