I searched the various forums but did not find an answer, so pardon me if this has been asked somewhere.
I don't use sense (I prefer SPB Mobile Shell), so I wanted a ROM without Sense. I cooked up one without the Sense 2.1, with the new GoogleMaps instead of the old one in the ROM, and with CF 3.5 instead of the older version. That is really all I want from a ROM; my stock ROM works well, I just wanted to recover the storage space used by Sense 2.1.
Here is the question. I cooked this ROM based on the Official T-Mobile US ROM (Jan 2010), and only made the few mods above. Since my device currently has the official ROM that I used as a baseline, can I flash without installing HardSPL?
BTW, the .nbh file is about 13K smaller than the stock nbh.
I don't think so, because your ROM won't be "signed" correctly. You will still need HardSPL.

If you try and it doesn't work, the worst thing you should end up with is an error message. If you take a look in the HardSPL sticky/WiKi you'll see that you can reflash the stock SPL if you need to, so don't stress too much if you have to HardSPL the device.

The SPL aka Bootloader aka what loads the ROM onto your device requires all NBH files to be signed with a private key that only HTC have. Without that you need Hard SPL to bypass it.
You can try, but it won't work.
You can Revert to your Stock SPL after flashing the custom ROM if you want, the ROM will still run.

Thanks for the replies
Thanks to all who replied. I guess I'll go ahead and hardspl. But now the problem will be how to keep myself from trying out all those ROMS!

I need to downgrade my rom for warrany purposes (the OK key is stuck) But when I load up my Original ROM when my unt goes to the bootloader tingy, it disconnects from activesync and just well.. does noting.
Please help, anyone?
Thnaks
Execute SSPL and then run the RUU.
EDIT: Note that Hard-SPL (which I assume you have installed) will not protect you from failure because the original ROM has its own bootloader that it will put on your device, which is a good thing in terms of warranty, but a bad thing in terms of a power outage.
Original rom
Did you manage to do it and revert back/
look at this guide http://www.mrvanx.org/hermes_guide/
Yep, the guide will help you through doing this. It takes a slightly more time consuming approach but you are almost guaranteed not to permenantly brick your device doing it this way, as the last thing to be flashed is the radio, then the SPL.
Ive read the guide when i wanted to upgrade and its very helpful. Did'nt notice there was a segment on downgrading which i believe will be helpful as well. Thanks for your patience and answering, you guys are kind, for pointing me in that direction.
HArd SPL? Uh, no I didn't install that.. should I?

@ Deadman
I would suggest you start reading here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293651
Then go to the wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
and do a lot more reading before you really do something even more seriously seriously nasty to your phone.
You should have installed Olipro's Hard-SPL before any kind of rom upgrades.
There is also a complete guide on the wiki to unbricking your phone.
Got it, thanks.
Thanks

You could try this fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316313&page=5
I don't think so. My Hard-SPL was overwritten and now has the 3.0 version and not SPL version 9.99.
9.99 is NOT Hard-SPL, it's Des's Crashproof spl which is not even trying to prevent itself from being overwritten.
OliPro?
Hello
What about OliPro SPL-1.20.Olipro with IPL-0.5
Can it also be overwritten or wich hard spl do I need first to flash?
Roman
don't worry , simply follow the instruction and reflash it again with the new rom , then it will pass through the 28% ...

I guess you're in a pickle. There must be a way around not having an official Orange rom. Have you tried the SD card method from an Orange rom dump? Otherwise, the rom cookers should be able to come up with something. With all of these people trying these roms certainly you must not be the only one with an Orange phone. Good luck .
Hi Guys,
I am also stuck @ bootloader. I have the original rom, but how do I flash this back? It keeps on telling me that it cannot detect the phone. What can I do? Thank you!
You can flash the spl from the bootloader via mtty, but that's not something Ive seen clear instructions on how to do... you might want to log into #xda-devs in freenode IRC and get stepped through it.
If you're stuck at the bootloader, just try running the hard-spl flash right from there...

Yeah, I thought deleting 'SPL.nbh' would prevent the RUU from installing the new SPL but the Hard-SPL got overwritten on flashing.
Kris
there are 2 spl entries in the release... spl.nb and spl.nbh... you have to remove both. also I'd remove the ipl.nb...
These are the files inside the exe:
EnterBootloader.exe
ErrorBattery.fig
ErrorUSB.fig
ModelID.fig
rapitool.exe
README.doc
ROMUpdateUtility.cfg
ROMUpdateUtility.exe
RUUGetInfo.exe
RUUResource.dll
RUU_signed.nbh
SPL.nbh
I suppose you meant to remove the .nb entries inside RUU_signed.nbh

Dear All,
first of all....HELLO! I've just registered myself on the forum.
Yesterday I bought the HTC P3600 (Trinity, I think), english version (I suppose it's called wwe). I want to install a cooked ITALIAN ROM, but I read I'm losing the guarantee if I'll do it.
Somebody tell me there is a software that can allow me to re-install the original ROM and avoid the guarantee losing.
Is this right? can someone give me more info?
Thanks in advance for your reply and sorry for my english
Best regards
You can always go back to an original HTC rom, as long as you don't brick your device.
In order to prevent that, you should install a Hard-SPL (board search, iirc its a sticky) which is a replacement bootloader that allows flashing any Rom after bricking.
Have fun playing around with your new P3600.

So if I install first the Hard-SPL I can install a COOKED ITALIAN ROM and after I can go back the original HTC ROM and I'll not lose my guarantee???
If I brick, how can I de-brick the HTC?
Thanks for the quickly reply
Best regards
You should try reading the WIKI and also check www.trinityguides.info
Helloo there.
Your phone is probably cid locked, that means, that u can install only original htc rom-wm5. wm6 doesnt exist for htc trinity.
If u have cid unlocked, u can flash any rom with the RUU (rom update utility) , which is in the package with the rom.
Otherwise i prefer for my cid locked trinity that:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293632
U loose warranty if u send the broken pda on service with the custom rom installed on it. So, before u send it, flash the original rom over and it will be ok.
The problem could be, if the lcd goes bad, than its hard to reinstall the original rom. i know u understand.

Thanks for your answer. I installed the SPL-1.20 and I updated my Radio version (1.46.00.11------is it good?). Now I can install every unofficial ROM and in any case I can go back (how?).
Is it right?

Hi!
I am totally new to HTC Diamond. I got my set from England (Orange). It was locked. I was able to unlock it with the free solution available. Ok. Now the problem is I heard about TouchFLO but it I can't seem to activate. What can be the reason and what can I do?
Second, mine says it has :
ROM Version: 1.37.405.1 WWE
Radio Version: 1.20.OliNex
IS it ok. Or can I get a new more better version. Whats with radio version? Please guide me what can I do? I right now have no idea. I tried the tutorials as well but I am confused.
thats not the radio version, thats the SPL (Service Provider Lock).
and its a Hard SPL, which i presume you flashed to 'unlock' it.
the Hard SPL lets you flash a different ROM (but voids your warranty) it doesnt SIM unlock it tho.
TF3D (Touch Flo 3D) should run automatically when the phone is started, if it doesnt, go to Start> Settings> Personal tab> Today> Items tab and make sure "TouchFLO 3D" is checked.
Old ROM

The ROM version you're showing here is really old (as ROM's go!). You can get a link to the latest Orange ROM (v1.93) here, or flash one of the superb cooked ROM's in this forum

Thanks a lot. But flashing with v1.93 will not do anything bad with the set. I once tried to upgrade my Imate jamin and it went dead and was not repaired. So I am a little hesitant you know.
you have already voided your warranty by flashing a Hard SPL. i would suggest flashing it back to the original, then flashing the latest Orange ROM (its not supposed to be too bad).

Ok ok man. i got it myself without looking them thanks. But now I have this problem that messages are not being sent. i tried soft reset and hard reset but no avail. What could be the reason for that? B
By the way I upgraded it with 1.93 flash given above in this thread.
Try the new 2.00 ROM.
You can also try one of the smaller lite ones
(Swtos, Panosha), each time followed by a HARD reset (backup your Internal Storage data first).
If THAT doesn't work, you might have an SMS configuration/operator issue.

make sure you have set the phone to your service provider....in connections

Why are you trying to relock?
What are you actually trying to do?
It looks like you've already tried this. If <<< that didn't work, not sure what to tell you mate.
Hi there, first poster so bare with me.
I had problems installing the H-SPL too. Then at last after trying and trying I thought by myself, maybe there could be a version (security) problem using an official 0.88 SPL rom update which doesn't work with the HSPL 0.88 version.
So what I did I looked around for any official ROM update (downgrade) version and also for the official SPL included.
I found the following HTC site (mind the spaces): www.htc.com/uk/help/htc-touch-pro2/#download
So I guess the H-SPL (version 0.88) isn't able to unlock official 0.88 spl's.
