Is there any webcam software that support netcam for PDA/Mobile phone? - Windows Mobile Software Development

Greetings:
My mom has Altzeimer. I would like to install an outside Wi-Fi netcam such that my Dad can watch her, using his PDA and Win Mobile with Wi-Fi capability, from anywhere in the house while she was wandering outside. I have been searching for hours and still unable to locate a webcam software which supports netcam for Window mobile devices (Axim x51v and HTC 8925). Does such software exists? If not, any suggestion to achieve this?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

WebCam
Hi
You can use Webcam XP "webcamxp.com"
with any WebCam (WiFi or USB).
This soft create a Server http in your personal Computer.
After you create a NAT (network adress translation) in your ADSL Box .
and you can watch your Webcam with any Internet Browser (PDA included)
I have try at my home, it works.

Thank you so much for your help.
It would be awsome if I can set this type of software and webcam for my dad. I think that I am kinda techy or may be more of a gadgetry type. I can figure out and troubleshoot hardware and software on most of PCs (friends, home, work etc) problem either by myself or by googling. However, I never venture into NAT, network, http server etc kind of things and wonder how difficult if will be to set this thing up with a router instead of an ADSL box.
By the way, which webcamxp, single, pro, mobile... do you use?
Anyway, I will post my question if I bump into any problem.

Remote Desktop Connection from TP2 to Vista home PC... anyone made it happen?

Has anyone got this to work.
I spent the last 8 days trying to figure out what was wrong with this, only to find out that vista cannot (by default) act as a RDP host.
well after i found that out i was RDP'ing to my home computer in as little as 5 minutes. I can connect to my home PC from my laptop or anyother computer using my external IP or my Dyndns name. Works awesome.
Now i am getting a new error on my TP2 when i try to connect.
the error reads
"The connection was ended because of a network error.
Please try connecting to the remote computer again."

I installed a "hack" as it were to give my Vista home premium machine the ability to become a RDP Host instead of just a client and i am wondering if maybe that this fix was not designed to allow this kind of connection
the fix turned on terminal services for RDP and set the port 3389 and said it was listening.
so i was wondering if anyone else using Vista Home (premium or basic only not the others) has got this to work on their TP2
Need some help please. i have a question on yahoo answers microsoft answers, ppcgeeks, and 2 other forums. and i am not getting anywhere...

I'm using Vista Ultimate so the hack to make remote desktop work was probably different than what you've done, but if you have it working from another location/device there is no reason remote desktop should not work from your TP2. I have mine working just fine. I connect to servername:443 (the port I am redirecting traffic to). There are multiple steps involved in this since you need to forward the traffic from your router to your PC if you are connecting from outside your LAN.
i have gone through a bunch of steps.
i have my ports forwarded and all that..
like you say... if i can connect from my laptop... there is NOOO reason i shouldnt be able to connect from my TP2.
I connect through either my external IP or my DYNDNS from my latop..
(Lan IP works too) But when i type either in my computer name nothing works
i have tried adding :3389 to the end of both and i have tried my user name and password and i have tried it withought. i have tried it with my routers domain name and without. i have tried everything i can think of..
simply there is no reason that this shouldnt work if i can connect from other computers... there is even pictures on PPCGeeks of people having it up and running. so its possible im just missing something.
it worked straight for me. With stuff like this it helps to break it up into it's component steps:
can you get it to work on another PC networked
can you get it to work on another device (PC) remotely and through the firwall?
Then you are left with TP2 issues if it doesn't work when the previous steps do.
This may not be much help as it seems that you know what you're doing
PS it worked for me straight away 'cos I was already using RDP on the PC with other devices
havent used vista home, afterall if your 'hacking' it for remote desktop........
but you have to forward port 3359 i believe it is on your router, to your pc's static ip. You HAVE to set a password if you havent done so already. It works rather well actually once connected.
Have a look here:

It´s almost the same process for Vista
bajunadustin, were you able to fix the problem? Because I am having the same exact problem myself right now.

Please help me setup Remote Desktop when using 3G network

Hi!
I was able to do Remote Desktop by connecting with my tilt 2 to my local Network so I used my Desktops address (192.168.1.4) as computer name and I was able to connect with the Tilt2.
Now, I am trying to figure out how to do the same but when I am not home thus connected to my network.
I tried using my REAL IP address but it was not able to connect to it.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate any my tilt 2 has a stock 6.5
Thanks
You'll need to set up port forwarding on your router. Looks like this site has a bunch of guides to do so. You need to set it up to forward port 3389 to your desktop address (looks like 192.168.1.4) and you should be good to go, no specific config necessary on your tp2.
Edit: As a side note for security's sake only allow non-administrator accounts to remotely connect and make sure you use strong passwords!
That worked out great...thanks mate!
Yeah thanks Toleraen! I was just now finally getting around to check out the remote desktop client on both my phones, and was looking for exactly that
Glad I could help
Pretty cool to do this indeed...any other software you consider better than this to remote in to my PC?

I hear VNC get recommended a lot, but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet (I'll do that once I've tried remote desktop). I've attached the cab for it, but I can't find any threads on it's use, you'll have to dig that up yourself
I must have tried a million different settings over several hours and never was able to connect via 3G or even locally when hooked in through wifi. I used to be able to do this with my Treo 750 with little hassle. I have the port forwarding set up on my Linksys WCG200 router. I have even tried turning all firewalls and encryption off. No joy. Anyone else have a Windows XP setup with a Linksys router that has had success with a Tilt 2 stock ROM? Note: I do not have a static IP. Has anyone successfully done this with a dynamic IP?
I am doing it to Windows 7 with a dynamic IP...I just make sure I got the one for the day(week) before living home if I want to remote in from work.
I use Hamachi to create a VPN connection and then remote into my PC that way, leave hamachi running on my desktop and then just run the mobile version on my phone when I want to remote in, that way there are no open port security issues to worry about and the VPN IP address never changes.
Is it any slower or faster than Remote Desktop?

Sweet! I had no idea hamachi had a mobile client now!!
I'm trying it out as soon as I get home today!
I use "Remote Touch Server" to remotely access my computer. The main reason i use it is because it keeps your computer on while you are accessing it. I use it for a handheld monitor for powerpoint presentations. That way I can see what the computer is doing, and tap the screen to advance to the next slide

[APP]Wake on Wan V1.3 (01/08/10)

I have created a new Windows Mobile application to wake up hosts in a network or over the Internet. Your networkcard and/or PC must support AMD's Wake-On-Lan (WOL), most networkcards and PC's do support this nowadays.
Features
Use Win32 Sense SDK.
Sources files available!
Stores hostname, MAC address and port number using registry.
Wakes up a host in a local area network (LAN) or in a remote area network (WAN)
Support for all screen resolutions
Requirements
A Windows Mobile 6 Smartphone or PocketPC device with access to WAN (wifi/3G/GPRS...)
Computers in your network that support Wake-On-Lan
Change log
V1.3
Uses the latest Manila's SDK V1.3 which improve speed and landscape compatibility
Correct a bug when using WIFI
Add some informations (IP of device & resolved host)

Thank you, I hadn't seen this program before... However, there are some differences as the use of the win32 SDK and the availability of sources.
I hope someone will find the sources usefull
I really need this.. and have no idea what to do. unfortunately, i can't forward a port for a broadcast address in my LinkSys WRT160N.
anyone knows how to set this up?
Set up LinkSys
Hi,
Try to setup your router without the broadcast, sometimes it works... For example, if your PC's IP is 192.168.0.10 and your extern LinkSys's IP is 80.32.3.4, try to set up your router like this :
UDP forwarding:
in port: 12345 for example (you can use any number below 65535)
out IP: 192.168.0.10
out port: 9 (or 7 depands of your hardware)
Then in my app, the host IP will be 80.32.3.4 and the port 12345...
I hope it will be OK...
which app works best?? because there is 2 of these circling around these forums.. and i'm going to use the best one... which is more user friendly? and has the least amount of router input work?? either that... or will the op be so kind and kinda hold my hand and walk me through it via PM?? i will gladly sport your appication
The other application can save the configuration of multiple computers while mine only records one...
Also, mine is not based on dotNET so is slightly faster...
@nir36:
You could also try to use a smaller subnet/range. My router won't allow to forward a port to 192.168.0.255, but I changed the subnet mask to 255.255.255.224 and so the range is from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.30 with 192.168.0.31 being the broadcast address for that range and which I can forward the needed port to.
You can use a subnet calculator if you need more or different IP addresses (do a search for subnet masks on google)
@ProjektFuze:
Least router input work ?? You have to setup your router/computer the same, the program just takes the public IP address, MAC address and port and sends a packet which is the same for both.
I would say WOL everywhere is more complete but this app here is more straightforward if you need it for only one computer...
Thanks for sharing!
Hi, great App and it suits my need perfectly! Almost...
I cant get it to work over GPRS/3G, only on Wifi!
Is that how it should work or do i have wrong settings somewhere, cant find any settings!
Thanks

It should work with 3G... It's probably a router problem !
When using 3g, the IP you set in my app must be a public IP (not 192.168.X.X) and if you have a router, you should tell him to route the packet to your local IP...
If you don't understand (English is not my native language), tell me more about your problem.
Hi!
It is not a router problem, my HD2 cannot even connect to internet in the program, and by an app in android it works perfectly so it is not in my router or computer... Can it by some issue with my rom?

Strange...
When you are allready connected to internet, is the button enabled ?
I have a friend which have an HD2, I will try with his device and post here tomorow... Maybe another application prevents the connection...
I've tested my app on the HD2, and no problems...
My app should show your IP when connection is found. Try to:
-unconnect from 3G and launch wakeonwan. My app will normally trying to connect using 3G. Is this step OK?
-Connect your phone and launch wakeonwan. My app will normally trying to find your IP. Is this step OK?
No, neither works! It only say "Cant connect to internet"! It´s only on Wifi it connects... :-S
Ok, I will try to change the connection process and update it...
To understand the problem, what is the real message printed ?
Can't establish connection to web...
Can't find web connections...
Can't retrieve available connections...
Can't find your IP address...
An other question: is the app searching for a connection or the message is directly printed?
Thank's
Ok, can you try this version ?
remplace the old .exe with this version in /program files/WakeOnWan/
It´s the first one, Can't establish connection to web.
And i will try out the file you posted...

Connect to Ad Hoc without internet through Wifi

Hi everyone!
I'm having kind of a special problem.
I'm an electro acoustic musician and finds the Desire a lot of fun.
My new project is to use its accelerometer etc and for that I need to connect it to my Mac running OSX 10.6.5.
The issue I'm having is that my network (campus ish) won't allow me to open any ports. I don't think it's a good idea to hack it, so my next idea is to create a network between my Mac and my Desire. This network won't have access to the internet.
It also has to be via Wifi since the app I'm using only allows communication through wifi and my java skills aren't good enough to edit the apk.
I therefore run Oxygen 1.0 (GREAT rom btw) which is supposed to accept ad-hoc, and my computers own network does show up when i browse it in my phone.
The problem is that it dosn't connect since it isn't given an ip. I imagine there has to be a solution to this and I'm just not seeing it. I'm also thinking it could be an OSX issue and not really a question for this forum, but I'm pretty sure it should be possible to just make the phone not requesting an internet ip.
I've tried to set a static IP but this won't work ether.
Does anyone have a clue on how to do? I'm quite desperate really. Been searching for a solution online for quite some time and I haven't found the right one. Probably because most people using ad-hoc want it's phone to connect to the internet and therefore not having my kind of trouble. Unfortunately I have no way of connecting my computer to the router with wire since the router is about 400 meters away. Once of corse, but i really need a wireless solution in the long run.
Thanks!
Christopher

App for VNC server for CDMA Galaxy Nexus?

Does anyone know of a VNC app that - or any kind of "control my android phone from my PC" that:
1. is NOT Android Screencast
2. WORKS on the CDMA Galaxy Nexus
All the apps I've tried on the market thus far (e.g. droid vnc server) don't work - I think Verizon does something to prevent the IP address from being available to the app, so it reports the IP v6 MAC address and I can't connect to the phone.
Any solution (wired or wireless) would be fine, just one that works well (and is preferably free).
Hey, I'm in the same boat as you, i want to VNC onto my phone from my work PC as it makes my office life so much easier (did this on my iPhone for a couple of years)
I've managed to connect to my Galaxy Nexus GSM via LAN IP fine (IPV6 shows but used IPV4 IP instead from wireless settings) evem though i connected, the screen is blank and i can click but not type so looks like it needs some TLC on the developing side before it'll work :-(
Now for a remote IP you could try whatismyip.com or some simular site but i'm pretty sure most phon operators keep you on an internal network and route you out to the internegt, therefore meaning that you dont have any ports coming into your phone from the internet and therefore can't run any internet services, it has to be connection from your phone to a server not from PC/server on internet to your phone on internet.
I know however that back about 8 years ago i did get a windows mobile http server working, but think it's all changed since then..
Only exception to this would be if your phone was on wifi as you could setup a port forward from the router.
Maybe if TeamViewer made a version which allowed control of the phone, then you'd be able to do what you need.
Regards
Liam
Our VNC Server, VMLite VNC Server, works just find on Galaxy Nexus.
You can use USB connection, or reverse connection to connect if your phone's ip is blocked. i.e., you run tight vnc viwer in listening mode, you run the vnc server on the phone in reverse mode, so the vnc server will connect to the viewer.
Our app actually works w/o rooting.

The new teamviewer client will be your answer... just wait till its ported correctly to your rom
Are you sure? I thought team viewer is to view PC from android phones, instead of viewing phones from PC, i.e., different direction.
