Hello,
I have recently purchased a SPV M5000 in used condition and I was able to update the ROM to WM6 however, the phone aspect of this device seems to be working poorly just like it did with WM5 (I thought the update would fix it). It often disconnects and or does not recognize the SIM card’s presence. Although when it connects it works fine but the connection only last a short while, after which point it disconnects and does not recognize the SIM card or searches for service a long time…
I have read through this forum as much as I could but my lack of knowledge in this area prevents me from making much sense of this. Could you ladies and gentlemen lend me a hand in fixing this issue?
Thank you!
i have a m5000 and have NEVER had any of the above problems
My Radio version is 1.13.00, perhaps updating it to a higher version can solve the problem? Can someone help me in this department? which version would it be best for me to try, where can I get it and how to install it? If anyone has the time to help me and break it down for me I would apreciate it.
Thank you.

can i ask u the obvious? have u put the sim in correctly and locked it in? also try locking the battery, sounds like you might have a wonky sim holder?
everything is locked and securely fastened.. I doubt it's the sim card holder.
Hey everyone. At one point I had removed my sim card to play around w/ Android on my device. Not wanting to lose it, I put it back in my phone, but now it refuses to see it. Its not the end of the world, as I am on VZW and don't need it for international travel, but it would be nice to get it working. Is there some trick I am missing? The instructions make it seem like you easily slide it in and out and "it just works" (TM). Ive tried removing it and installing it tens of times already, trying various levels of pressure and jiggling hoping to make the contacts line up... No go.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like you may have damnaged the sim card then if its not reading it. It can really only go in and out one way properly. a square peg cant fit in a round hole sort of deal.
So my bet would be its screwed up somehow. Just go to verizon and tell him its not working and you can maybe get them to give you one or they'll make you buy one. They can probably test it out in one of their phones and see if its working actually.
Hi all, i know this is a well talked about subject as i have done numerous google/ask searches, i find an awful lot but don't really seem to get any answers, over the last week i must have read hundreds of pages so please anyone who is going to tell me to google this problem, please don't as i have until i could scream lol......anyway, this is the problem i am having......
Hubby bought the HTC desire on ORANGE but then decided he wanted an iphone4 so he gave his desire to me, i am a vodafone user, as we have teenage children and the freedom/family packs are such good value, i wanted to stay on vodafone so i got the phone unlocked with an unlock code at my local mobile fone shop...hubby had never used it as a phone, just as a gadget to mess about on so we weren't aware there was any problems.... the problems i am having are these...i can't get the phone to hold a call, if i use wmcda only mode, its slightly better and i can usually get a call out but it will drop out if i stay on the line to long, if i use gsm only then i can't get a call out at all, the phone stays silent for a few seconds and then just drops out......on both settings the signal is fluctuating like mad and often gives me a x where my signal should be, i love the phone as a gadget but at the moment im not getting much luck with it as a phone.....a few things i thought may be to blame are
could it be the way the fone shop unlocked it??
i have used the same sim card (voda) for around 4+ years, could i need a better sim???
could it be because all the settings on the phone belong to orange and arn't set up to use on voda??
i have read on a few sites where people have returned these phones only to be given another one that has the same issues where others have recieved another hand set and the problem is solved but some people say they have no call dropping/signal issues at all and love the phone....im confused, i have been looking around the site and seen peopl are using custom roms and/or debranding the phone, could that help with my issues??
if anyone can help me i would really appreciate it ...
thanks in advance
emma......ps sorry for such a long post
Try with another SIM card. If it works, then your current SIM is broken, if it doesn't work, it's most likely the phone causing problems.

How did you get the phone unlocked, if it was with code, which is the most common method you shouldn't have any problems?
yes it was with a code, apparantly they get those codes from HTC themselves, i did try an orange sim card in it, it wasn't much better, my sim card can't be broken as i have it in my old iphone 2g, which i have had to go back to at the moment, HTC will get my phone very soon to have a look at as ups have just picked it up, i'll post back when i have my new/repaired device....thanks
Hi Guys,
Just wanted to share a video of my HTC One X with its SIM Card Disconnection fault.
(XDA Won't let me submit a link as I haven't created 8 posts yet...)
www .youtube.com/watch?v=b9iBTRH7UXQ&feature=youtu.be
It looks like a mechanical or contact problem. Have you tried another SIM card? Did you cut it to microSIM yourself?
Yes - I've tried multiple SIM cards and other SIM card holders from my friends One X.
Then I would say it is a mechanical issue with the contacts inside SIM slot. You should try to get it replaced.
Yes that's what I think too.
I'm trying my best. The company I bought it from online were 'unable to replicate the fault' and sent it back..
This is why I created this to prove the fault to them. If they still won't replace I'll contact HTC.

I have the same problem with a brand new HTC one XL.
The SIM card is not detected by the phone after couple of hours of use and I have to take the SIM out from the phone and plug it back in.
same problem here with cuted SIM card but my brother one x is working fine with cuted sim also.
i have the same problem. time since i bought one x it has lost connection with sim three times. last time it was yesterday morning when i reached my hand to get one x and wanted to see what time it is, i saw "enter pin code".
i havent tried any sim card, cutted or not, since it only supports microsim, and i have only standard size sim cards.
could it be phone fault or perhaps sim fault?
according to baadnwz (from the insertcoin roms) it's a software issue, he made some fixes to the framework and it greatly improves the issue for me but not for 100% .
Had exactly the same problem, sent it back and got a replacement that doesn't have this problem. (before that I tried a lot of things, such as adding some tape to the simcard, but none worked).
BTW, this is not a software issue, it's a hardware glitch that occurs when flexing the phone slightly, like it will do in most pockets.
I had it happen even when it was just lying on a table and baadnwz did fix something, so it must be software....
Wait. So who are the people using carrier-provided microSIMs and who are the ones using cut SIM cards?

My car didn't start last week as I had a flat battery, my neighbours car didn't start yesterday morning so I told him it's your car battery as I had exactly the same problem. Turns out it wasn't he'd run out of petrol
Point is it is very likely that different faults (software and hardware) are causing similar symptoms.

Phil

I have the Intermittent loss of sim that comes back after a few seconds and I'm using a cut sim.
in the thread on tweakers.net (a dutch site) many people are. complaining about this issue whereas on xda it's just a few people. a while ago in holland many HTC phones on the vodaphone network kept rebooting spontaniously, others had their clock run weird if connected to network time and others had no problems whatsoever. anyway it turned out to be a race network/sim/firmware issue, my guess is this issue is something similar.

I have purchased a brand new HTC One X online, and is the same issue. It refuses to detect any sim I insert and although wish it was a software issue seems more like a hardware fault.
what were baadnwz tips for fixing this problem? searched the forums and couldn't find a thing.
I had this issue with my sim card seeming to lose contact. I'd randomly see 'no coverage' then it would come back.
I had a look through some of the forums, and tried the sticky tape fix, and that seems to have solved it. Fingers crossed
Mine was a cut SIM, and since the tape is on and making it a bit thicker it's ok
I still get what I see now is the usual problem with mobile data not working sometimes, but the sim contact seems fine

My sim is also cut. might try tape but i heard it would be difficult to remove the sim in the future.
Good day guys!
I need help in fixing my Sony Xperia SL. Most of the time my friends keep telling me that they are unable to call me. They keep getting the "subscriber cannot be reached" message despite the fact that I have good signal reception.
I transferred my sim to a different phone and the problem is gone. I try a different sim in my xperia SL and the same problem, no calls get through.
I really need help guys as my phone is barely a week old and is not rooted.
I can send/receive texts. I can make calls though sometimes I get the busy tone as soon as I dial the number.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem???
THANKS!!!
Try re flashing firmware, a lot of U owners had problems with updates and just a re flash sorted em

My brother had a problem similar to this... He had 16k SIM and had same problems than I told him to buy a new one 64k SIM and it worked... Though I dont really know technical detail about 16k SIM all I know its the old one... So if you have an old SIM than its time you say your last words to it and maybe crush it with hammer an axe or a two handed sword... Or become a dragon born and recite these words Ro Da

HAHAHAHA.. well I guess I have no choice but to try replacing my sim. Hopefully my problem will be resolved. Although I tried inserting a different sim from a different network provider and the problem is still present. The sim I inserted is more than a year old though...
Thanks for the reply guys!!!

If you have problem using the other SIM than I suppose you search over the internet and hope that someone else had such problem and he/she solved it the other way... There is no point in buying the SIM if it wont solve your problem

Decided to search google for "android loses signal when screen is off" As I have isolated the problem that my phone disables the network a few minutes after I have switched the screen off...
Turns out that build 4.0.4 of android has this problem and that it affected a lot of galaxy nexus owners. I know that I have a Sony but I am guessing that, unluckily I may have been affected by this bug as well :'-(...
Anyways thanks for the help!!!
